Hi ladies. Eat to Live is a bit stricter than Ornish, but Fuhrmsn (authour of Eat to Live) does say Ornish's diet is a good one to follow too.
Kind - I didn't realize his program was a specfic 6 week program. I was just going to transition to his woe. So I am lookig at it as more of a long-term thing, so I may eat a little differently than you during the 6 weeks but we can still support each other! I am starting tomorrow but I am not quite finished the book yet. It is very informative and very motivating. I can't wait to see how we feel! |

I'm eating raw vegan. Mostly fruit. I haven't tried to make bean sprouts yet. Spouted beans are all you can have on raw. I have sprouted lentils (not bad).
My smoothies are usually: banana banana, nectarine banana, nectarine, pear pear, pineapple I blend with ice cubes and water. Sometimes I use a little almond milk (not raw). I'm eating about 80% raw right now. I don't know what book you all are reading, but if you are eating just plant foods, you really don't have to watch calories unless you are eating more than 30% fat from avocado & nuts. You can make your own healthy dressings from: blending fruits/veggies, pureed avocado, lemon juice, garlic and a little olive oil (my fav). Google raw dressings or vegan dressings.

Wendy - thanks for the great tips on dressings. I can't wait to try them. I just bought a food processor so I am looking for dressings I can make.
Kind - yes, I sort of started today but I am jumping into the For Life plan (something like that) in his book. So I will be here for you during the 6 weeks but my eating won't be as strict. I am doing vegan though, so tons of fruit and veg. But I will also be eating nuts and brown rice pasta (not a lot though). I am at a slim weight and don't have anything to lose. I just want to be healthy. I am 5'5" and 114 pounds. If I lose any weight (I hope not too much - lol) I will post it. I think if people want to post weight they can. I also run 3 times a week and I do pilates or yoga the other 3. Today I had fruit: apples, blueberries, strawberries, walnuts, flax seed, broccoli, beans, carrots. For the main part of dinner I made a dairy and meat free noodle casserole. It is from Dreena Burton's website and it's called Mac Oh Geez! DH and my sister both ate it and loved it. They had no idea the sauce was made from nuts, garlic lemon and almond milk (among other things). It really tasted like cheese. Yum! |

Hello everyone,
Ive started the Spectrum of Ornish on Monday. I seem to be hungry an awfully lot. I havent had any meat. But I did end up having some whole eggs. I plan on making some cauliflower cheese soup today, vegan. If its any good, I'll post the recipe for ya. Is there a place to post recipes or is it best to do it here or what? I think it would be nice to share ideas/recipes. Ones you've tried and thought were good. I know everyones tastes are different, but in ready ingredients we can decide whether to make or not. sweep |

Hi everyone. I feel great today. I had a ton of green veggies and fruit, almonds and more of the brown rice pasta I made last night.
Kind - what is tvp? I know it's textured vegetable protein, but what is it? What does it look like and what do you do with it? |

But I made that Chill from Eat to live and it was very good. even when I thought I put to much tvp in. Didn'T. would use 1 cup again. In a way I guess u can say it was like using ground soy hamburger. I have done well with this. No weight loss yet still holding. There is so many things you can get that is healthy and make things with out so much meat. Well got to cut short..talk tomorrow. kind |

Kind - hang in there. Focus on health and I bet the weight starts to fall off. I am feeling GREAT. Today we had treats in the staffroom (I am a teacher and every Friday someone brings in treats for the week). I went down there and they didn't even appeal to me. Now this is coming from someone who was a total junkfood and sugar junkie! So since Wed I have had no junk and no sugar (other than in my morning coffee which I can't give up and naturally occuring sugars in fruits etc). Amazing. I hope it lasts and I don't end up bingeing on chocolate at Halloween! lol

Hi Emandm
Im glad you wrote.I do feel better all ready with this way of eating. But I must not do what I have been doing and that is>. Weighing After I have eaten and dranked. Because when I do that the scale is up 2-3lbs. Then next day in morning when I weigh weight is back down. For when I do this and scale is up I want to cheat. But have told self NO. I only cheat self and the next 6 weeks.Plus Im doing this with you and others here. In book I read too that weight might not come off as soon and fast. But it will. the body has the say. But as long as I eat fruit and greens and beans or brown rice 1 cup of eight er not both I will be fine. Just hard for me and that scale. I do like this program.Hope next Wed. when I weigh in for week1 I will lose-2-3lbs. then that makes me work that much harder. That's why I think posting here and the other site on this way to eat it helps me and I learn more . I was looking at site on Alissa cohen's die,I wonder if they also have a site there that is Free a message broad./ Im glad to you passed up junk. You can do it too for Halloween. {Think of me.[ ha. take care. Kind. Hello all u others out there. How are you ?/ PS You know I was wondering if 4 fruits a day is holding weight. Is fruit to much sugar to have when you are trying to lose?/ That's why too I have not juiced at least 1 time a day because of sugar to high.? |

Hi Daisy.
great job on your loss. Great job. I should hide that darn scale but it would most likely drive me nutter.ha. what I should do is just weigh once aweek on Weds. drinking some water thinking I need to do that more. One thing have been going to bath room more today. so maybe it is water. I just keep reading diff. things on this and it helps. I do feel good and for some reason clean if that makes sense? I just can not wait to see were this will lead me. Again keep up the good work. Kind - I don't think I've been eating 4 fruits a day even though he recommends it. I just don't have room! Give the scales a break for a week and focus on being healthy. I do know what you mean about feeling clean. I feel the same. It's great. Today I had two rice cakes with almond butter and with pumpkin seed butter along with a ton of greens! Yum!
Tomorrow we have a birthday party to go too. I hope I can be strong and stay away from the cake! lol Daisey - congrats on the weight loss. Almonds are so good aren't they! |

Hi ladies.
Kind - how was your carrot juice? I am glad you are feeling good. I am too. I just ate fruit, veg and some nachos and salsa at the party. I wasn't even tempted by the burgers, hotdogs, cake and ice cream. It seems my taste buds are changing and that is good. Next weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving and you can bet I will be eating pumpkin pie when we go to my dad's! LOL I will be really surprised if I pass that up! |

Dasiey - I think the pie comment was directed to me! lol I WILL be eating pie this weekend since it is our Thanksgiving (in Canada). But it shouldn't affect me too much since I am in maintenance.
I have been feeling great with this woe, really great. I do not crave sugar anywhere near as much as I used to. I am very impressed. I guess it's true that when you eat the right foods, you lose your addiction to the wrong ones. I am very happy I found this woe and it doesn't feel like a diet at all. |

hi Emandm.
How are you? Im fine and not getting on scale till Wed.I feel good with this diet too. I do miss Soy veg. burgers and at time grilled white chicken breast in my salads. My husband is doing great. He had to get 2 sizes smaller in jeans and this morning another 1lb. So 10lbs for him in 10 days. But I started Wed. of last week. But Im hoping at least 3lbs gone by this Wed. Im getting down with this. Not the eating part but the losing not happening. So this week more water @or tea {plain. In 6 weeks we go to Hi. and I would love to be 10-15lbs lighter.{ But that might not happen. Yes You have that pie or two on Your Thanksgiving. You enjoy that day with family and then after start again. Take care. Kind |

Thanks! It's nice because we go to visit my parents for the holiday weekend and my dad is amazing with my children (I have 2.5 year old twin DD's). They have a park that is literally steps from their backyard and the weather is supposed to be unseasonably warm. I don't follow any eating plan when I am there because my stepmother is such a good cook and I want to truly enjoy the holidays!
Had a great day today. I had lot's of salad greens with organic dressing (organic dijon tarragon), fruit and some almonds. For dinner I will have some more of that vegan casserole I made again (it is so good you would think it had cheese or a cream sauce in it but nope, only healthy ingredients)! Have a great day everyone! |
