Hi there,
I am new to this thread. I normally post on CAD but since I am in maintenance I sometimes play around with what I eat. I am trying to improve my food choices for my health. I also just bought the book Eat to Live. I won't be finished it for a few days but I am enjoying it so far. |

Hi Kind. I like the idea of starting on the 1st! There's just something about starting of the first of the month! lol Ok, so let's make that our goal. We will finish the book, or at least enough of it so we can start on October 1st. yay us! I'm excited! Do you have a lot to lose? What is your goal? Mine is about health. I have been following the CAD plan for 10 years (minus when I was pregnant with my twin DD's) and I was able to lose the 15 pounds I wanted to lose and I have maintained for years. Now I want to be healthy, and not just slim. I realized that I was substituting good foods for bad foods, even though I kept my calories in check. SO now my focus is HEALTH!

Hi
I like to lose 25lbs. I also like to get toned and stay healthy. The Eat to live Sounds healthy. My husband is doing with me so that will be easier.I have to go to store this weekend to pick fruits and veg. up. I think the hard part for me is no diet pop. This will help us both doing this together.I'm surprise more is not posted here on this wow. I thought to could find a site like this doing Eat to live. But Can not find one. Lets post. Nice meeting u. Kind |

OMG I have the same problem! My downfall is Diet pop too (Diet pepsi to be precise)! I finished my last case last week and I have tried to resist buying more. I haven't read anything about coffee yet. If I have to give that up I won't! lol I will stick to one cup a day though and follow the rest of the plan. I can give up diet pop but not coffee! lol
My main motivation is health. I have always been slim but I would eat junky food. My mum died of breast cancer when I was young and now that I am a mum I want to be around as long as I can! So I am much more concerned about what I eat than I was in the past. The Eat to Live makes sense and I love fruits, veg and nuts to begin with, so it won't be depriving. How great that your husband is doing it too. Mine won't give up meat, but he has agreed to eat what I cook him! lol We'll see how it goes. Nice meeting you too! |

Hi.
I like Coke Zero. and I like plain tea. I don't drink coffee but husband does. I go to curves 4-5 days a week and starting to do other things like 5lb.balls weights and weighted Exercise ball. Seems like we can eat a lot of veg's.and I'm big on salads any way. I think I will miss chicken breast and veg. burgers. But I think I saw in book we can made those. BEan burgers It sounds like a great plan to me.I also have jack lalanne juicer but looks like I can not use that? I don't know why you should not juice on his program at least at times. I think since my husband wants to do this at least for 6 weeks that will help me. We are going to HI. for 2 weeks In Nov. so like to have this weight off. Did you see what your Bloodtype is on eating?{ Mine is A.so this well be good for me Wish we would have more people talking about this . I guess you could call this plant base eating or the other site they have here. It is good reading what they do on eating this way. But they don't seem to post much.? Take care. We can do this. |

I gave up meat when I was in high school and I didn't miss it at all. I started eating it again just because, but I think I can give it up quite easily again. I used to eat veggie burgers too but now the whole soy thing has me worried (primarily because of the breast cancer risk in my family, the info. is too contradictory so I am erring on the side of being cautious). i too am surprised there aren't more people interested in this, but maybe it's because it isn't low-carb, and this is a low-carb forum? Not sure.
Yes, we can do this. I am looking forward to it! |

Yes being a low carb board, there won't be very many here. I've been vegan since May and am transitioning to a raw diet. I personally just eat fruits and vegetables and some nuts. I don;t count anythng or following any "diet structure". Make sure to take a B12 supplement of you are not eating meat.

WendySmiling - I am slowly transitioning to vegan as well. There is a ton or research to support this being good to prevent certain diseases. I do take a B12 supp already as I never ate that much meat. Do you miss treats/sweets and things since going vegan? If so, what do you do?
Kind - I read Eat Right For Your Type too and I am an "O" which means I should be a carnivore, but I have never been a meat eater and I maintain a great weight with lot's of veg and fruit. Go figure! lol |

I'm acually transitioning to raw vegan. It's helped a lot with cravings. I eat every 2 hours and keep plenty of fruit around to munch on at work. That has really helped my cravings.

br: Fruit Smoothie - bananas & necatarine, (or any fruit combo)
SN: any fruit I have, pears, banana, nectarine, cherries, strawberries (my current favs) LN: Marinated raw mushrooms, and/or more fruit SN: Handful of raw nuts DN: raw squash ribbons and marinara sauce (raw or jarred) SN: more fruit, carrots, or veggie juice. (tomato, celery, bellpepper, carrot) Jack Lalanne juicers are fairly resonable at Target $99. Right now I eat a lot of fruit, as that's what my body is craving. I'm also mostly raw right now. You might want to check out the food and recipe section for vegetarian food ideas and great food pics at veggieboards.com

When someone says I cant have something, I want it even more. I think we are all like that. I think I'll stick around with ya all for a while. Thanks for the welcome. sweep |

Daisey.
You might like to look into Lac-to ovo vegetarian. Were no meat but you can have cheese ,eggs, even veg. burgers.etc. On eat to live cals are 1000-1200 if I read, right.? Go to web site and look there. I do think eating this way or more like{ lacto Ovo vegetarian is what I will do after 6 weeks doing Eat to live. But it is a good book I think. As we get older we must start thinking of health and aging well as we can. We all just have to stay with something that works for us and we can do at least 90%of time. Im really looking forward to the next 6 weeks to see how well I do and feel. Like I said going to Hi. In Nov. and hope to be at my goal. With help Im sure I can. We all can. Lets give this 6 weeks of being true to our diet and see what hap pend. Im so glad to meet u all. Kind |
