![]() ![]() Wishing everyone a great June for our fat burning. I am happy to report that eating plenty of fat as in no sugar added Sweet Italian sausage didn't add any extra lbs. I'm thrilled that I can eat yummy full fat foods & have it burn my body fat. I am down almost a full lb in the past few days since doing close to Zero carbs with plenty of fats/meats/dark chocolate. I am not claiming any lbs down yet until next Wednesday or Thursday, stay tuned ![]() Have a great Sunday everyone. Hugs, Barbara ![]() Last edited by Ragdoll24 : 06-01-2008 at 07:26 AM. |

Goodmorning ladies! Still plugging away at the Fast 5, need to get the scale going in the other direction. I've had a few off days and not enough exercise so I know where I need to make changes. My goal for the end of this week is to at least get 3-4 workouts in and be back down to 117. Gotta get that scale going in the "down" direction.
I did Level 1 of the 30 day Shred this morning and have had tea so far. We're barbecuing tonight so we'll have plenty of good eats. I'll check back tomorrow with a Monday morning weight.

Happy June 1 everyone!!
![]() I am holding steady at 136, hooray! My daughter and I are going to a local amusement park today--it's her last Sunday with me for the summer as she's going to spend the summer with her cousins and grandparents. Much happier alternative for her than another summer stuck in summer school while I work all day. I will miss her so much, but she's going to have the best summer ever. I will bring some low carb, low fat beef jerky just in case the amusement park has no good on plan food. I bought a great low carb cookbook yesterday--the one from George Stella. And I am so excited about cooking low carb food starting this coming Friday. Who ever knew that low carb thoughts could induce so much happiness in me? *teasing* I was fighting low carb so much last summer, but here I am, embracing it whole-heartedly in my window, for the whole month of June at least! Have a wonderful day, my IF friends. I am personally *happy* to be back in my window and thrilled to be back at the weight I was at last summer. Now to just dial it down a few more pounds and keep it there. ![]() Rachel Last edited by LowCarbRachel : 06-01-2008 at 08:31 AM. |

Hello Ladies,
Swapping around my schedule a bit to contend with weekend plans, we'll see what the scale thinks about it tomorrow. Fasted from 4:30 PM Friday until 2:00 PM Saturday and then had lunch and dinner last night. This morning I had breakfast (pretty large) and a light lunch before beginning a new fast at around 1:00 this afternoon. I don't plan to eat again until sometime tomorrow, hopefully after 1:00. This will be my first attempt at a 24 hour fast as recommended by Dr. Eades and Eat Stop Eat. This afternoon I'm hanging out with the BF for a low energy mellow kind of afternoon. No exercise today, but tomorrow I restart C25K with a workout first thing in the AM. Rachel & Barb, congrats on getting the scale to cooperate! I didn't weigh-in today but we'll see what the scale reveals tomorrow. |

Barb - Thanks for starting the June thread! I'm so happy to hear that the higher fat/zero carb foods are working great for you! It's so nice when we finally figure out what foods work best w/ our individual bodies isn't it?
Rachel - That's great that you're at 136! Have a great time with your DD at the amusement park. Very smart of you to bring your own snack with you. I've learned to bring my own snacks everywhere I go and it has really helped me! I also enjoy lower carb cooking - I'll have to take a look at George Stella's cookbook next time I'm at the bookstore. He had a show on each week on Food Network and I really enjoyed it. It hasn't been on in over a year now. I miss it! Hi Gracie, BNM, Leigh & LadyWuzzy !!!

Well, I'm happy to say I've been doing a little experimenting and it seems to be working so far! As I mentioned before, I was trying out a scale free week - but after a few days, my clothes felt tighter and I decided to weigh. I had gained 5 lbs. I was not very happy. I had stayed pretty much on plan - but probably wasn't drinking enough water and eating too many salty foods.
I don't really have an IF window, if I do - it's a long, 10 hour window. I start eating about noon and end about 10 pm. I have been trying to eat very small meals and snacks every few hours. I make sure that they're nice balanced meals/snacks with plenty of protein and veggies. I add a very small amount of carbs to some meals. My carbs are mostly from fruit. With one or two meals - I'll have 1/2 piece of fruit. Occasionally I'll have 1/4 potato or 1/2 serving of oatmeal. I'm trying to keep my cals at around 1200 a day, eat high protein, lower carb, low fat (although I do have good fat everyday), high fiber and I try to watch my sodium too. I keep my own journal and keep track of everything. I was looking through my past journals when I started back in October 2007 and I always do so much better when I keep track of everything - cals, carbs, protein, fat, sodium, fiber. It takes a few extra minutes a day - but it's worth it because it really helps with weight loss! So, I am eating every few hours - and make sure it's mostly protein, I'm drinking a lot of water - I aim to drink 6-7 glasses of water from my 24 oz. cup. Most days I'm getting about 168 oz. of water. I also have been exercising 30 minutes a day. I'm really loving this plan! I do like to eat very small meals every few hours instead of 1 or 2 huge meals later in the day. I know it works great for some, but doesn't work well for me. I seem to lose the fastest weight when I eat small meals every few hours. I tried this before and I had great weight loss. Then the loss stopped and when I looked at my journal - I saw that's when I added more carbs back in. Too many and the bad kind - like 100 calorie snack packs and snack bars. I had never tried 5-6 small meals a day mostly protein based. The protein keeps me full and satisfied and I'm not craving anything bad! If my scale is right, in only a few days of trying this out - I have lost those 5 lbs. I gained!!! I am very happy! I'm at my lowest weight again -which is about 246ish. I will post my weight loss for sure, after my Weds. night weigh in. I think this is going to work out well for me!!! |

Hey all! Back from nine hours at the amusement park! It was fun, but I am tired and sunburned! Thank goodness I brought beef jerky to eat for my lunch and dinner. There was nothing even close to compliant at the park. I tried to get a grilled chicken breast at one place and they were all out. So, happily, I had my own food.
Oh, and something else nice happened. The "age guesser" at the amusement park guessed me at 36 years old, so I won a prize. I'm 41. *smile* That about made my day!! Carolina, YEAH! So awesome to hear your news!! Congratulations!! You deserve to feel proud and happy--you've worked hard to reach this milestone! Dancing in your honor tonight! Will see you all tomorrow!! Good morning everybody,
Flower - so are you still keeping track of points with WW when you do your protein meals? I've tried WW several times but never seem to get beyond a 10 lb loss. I definitely do better when I'm keeping track of what I'm eating (whether through counting points or counting calories). Way to go on getting rid of those 5 pounds! Rachel congrats on a great day at the amusement park. Good planning in taking the jerky with you. Carolina Sweetie you are within kissing distance of the 120s. KUTGW As for me, I weighed in at +3 lbs this morning I'm pretty sure that the jump on the scale is from my "off" day yesterday. While I haven't been following any specific eating plan, I had been limiting my sugar up until yesterday when I got into some homemade cookies. So, I'm pretty sure that I've holding onto some water today. In addition, TOM will be here this week. I'm just going to focus on eating within my window with higher protein food and stay off the scale until TOM is gone. Planning on not opening my eating window until 2 or 3 this afternoon and closing it five hours later. Exercise will be 30-45 minutes of walking on the treadmill. |

Trying to get back to plan after the BBQ on Saturday. Afraid to step on the scale. Must get the temptations out of the house.
Wondering - does anyone else get the feeling of pressure in their head? I thought it was my BP going up, but tested and it was normal. I'll ask at the doc's office tomorrow (BP med refill).. |

Everyone is doing so well! Congratulations all around!
I have something that I wanted to share in case others have the same challenge. About two months ago while doing my LCWOE I started getting easily 'bruised' on my hands and forearms - more like big blood blisters under the skin. At one point it looked like I had been attacked by an animal and several of the bruises I didn't even remember the incident that produced them. Others were from just my usual less-than-graceful moves like bumping myself as I maneuvered through doorways, even just gently scraping my arm as I was pulling something out of a drawer would result in an unsightly mark. I finally googled it to see if I was missing some nutrient in my new WOE. I read just about everything and the two things that kept coming up were Vitamin C and Vitamin K deficiencies. I started taking 1000 mcg. of C and ordered some Vitamin K cream and supplements. Well, one or both of them have started working beautifully. My arms have healed and no new marks are appearing. And my gracefullness has not improved - I still bump into things and scrape myself occasionally, but no marking! Yesterday I took a bad fall while trying to train our dog to trot along with my son and me as we rode our bikes (I know, not the brightest idea!) and I thought the bruises would be awful!! But today I have only one small well-deserved bruise (probably to remind me that riding a bike with a dog on a leash is NOT a good idea)! Again, great job all! I am proud to be an IFer! Peace, Katy 209/174/ 140ish would be great! IF/LC/ periodic CAD meal |

Katy Sorry to hear about your fall but it's great that the Vit C & K cream are working so good. Thanks for these suggestions. I also bruise easily & will pick up the Vit K cream. Quote:

Flower Whenever I go scale free it leads to weight gain for me & not facing up to that I'm not eating properly. I don't think I'll ever be able to ignore the scale for more than a day or two at a time. It helps keep me honest.I'm still doing well on my close to Zero carb experiment BUT ate a snack very late last night. I made the Cream Cheese Clouds for some neighbors & tasted them at midnight. The bad news is the scale is up a little this A.M. BUT the good news is that I'll be getting them out of the house today. Luckily, I have lost my taste for the "snacks" & I'm thrilled about it. ![]() |

Good morning, all.
![]() My weight is holding steady this morning--and I'm really puffy from all the sodium in the beef jerky and spending all day on my feet yesterday. I am going low-sodium today and drinking a ton of water to flush out all that I'm retaining from yesterday. I wish the water retention didn't show in my face. No matter how much I try to cover it up, it's very visible. Ah well, it probably doesn't look nearly as bad as I think! Tnleigh, your plan for today sounds excellent! Melissa, good idea to get the temptations out of the house. If it's not there, we can't eat it, right? Hope you start feeling better! Katy, I'm glad you discovered such a great solution! I am also an easy bruiser. I say that I am like the princess in the story The Princess and the Pea. Barb, it's been surprisingly easy to keep on track this time around. I am looking forward to making some low carb dishes and treats! I especially want to try the cauliflower pizza crust--have you tried it? No more scale free for me, either. When I don't weigh, it's a sign that I am avoiding knowing the truth about my eating behaviors. I am not obsessed with the numbers, nor do I weigh several times a day, just once before bed and once in the AM. Hi to all my other friends! Have a happy fat burning Monday!! Well just closed my eating window after 4 hours.
Menu for today: high protein shake and granola bar to break-fast green beans with cashews and a wrap made from a flat out (light) and lean ham and cottage cheese my calories ended up at about 1100. I'm full but not too full and in another hour or so I'll get on the treadmill |

Leigh- Yes, I've learned from the wonderful ladies here that you can make your own tweaks and combine a few different diet concepts if that is what works for you. So, yes I do keep track of WW points and attend meetings. I really look forward to the meetings because I love getting great tips and advice and love hearing about other people's success stories. So, basically I follow WW points, and just try to make my meals and snacks mostly protein based with lots of veggies and a little bit of fruit. I don't feel deprived at all and the adequate protein really helps me feel full and stay satisfied. It also helps me not crave bad carb foods either. The thing I like about WW is that you follow the points system and follow their 8 healthy guidelines everyday and you can basically choose whatever food you like.
Rachel - I hope your scale shows another loss tomorrow morning after having a low sodium day! I try to always watch my sodium and keep it at about 1000 mg or under. However, there are a few days - it may be a bit more and I know it will be ok. I just make sure to have real low sodium days on monday and especially tuesday (day before weigh in). I have noticed a BIG difference with drinking a ton of water, it helps a lot with retention! So, drinking a lot of water, exercising and getting in protein at each meal and snack seems to really be working for me. Barb - Yeah, I learned my lesson from not using my scale for a few days. A few of my WW buddies were doing it and it was nice for them because they didn't stress over what their daily weight was. So, because I saw they were doing so well with it, I decided to try it myself. I honestly was eating healthy and exercising - but wasn't watching the salty foods enough and wasn't drinking enough water either. From now on, I will happily go back to my normal routine of weighing myself each and everyday, lol! Carolinasweetie - That's great that you lost another 2 lbs!!! Wow, only 3 lbs. from the 120's is awesome!!!! Hello to everyone else!!! ![]() |
