Happy Tuesday!
I just had an amazing lunch. Green peppers, red peppers, cucumbers and hummus in a low carb wrap and some yogurt with blueberries. Boy my body likes it when I feed it well. ![]() Lolabee, welcome to our group! I have been IF'ing, in one form or another, for almost a year now. It's a very healthy and versatile way to eat. ![]() Gracie, I think it's good to give it a try. It just may be the missing piece of the puzzle for you. I am not into conventional medicine much myself, but there are times when it is a help. Let us know how you feel while taking it and how you progress. Missa, he's bringing a work proposal over tonight. The rates look in line with what I wanted to pay. I hadn't planned to work on my backyard this year, but it truly is a horrific mess, and if I can pay for 20 hours of someone's time who knows how to fix it....well, I could enjoy it this summer. Because I've got some nice equity in my property, I am even more inclined to maintain it well. I don't like spending money, but I do need to protect my investment (and it will be nice to enjoy the place, you know?) Melissa, congrats on your new low weight. I don't make my daughter eat low carb, but the more she sees me doing it, the more inclined she is to try it for herself. It's kind of funny--I was an avid low carber when she was two, and she always saw me dump the taco stuff out of the shell. She still does that today, and she will probably never know why, ha ha. ![]() Elaine, some people are just more sensitive to fruit than others. Most books I've read say that it's good to eat it on an empty stomach--but if you're struggling with it, try it with a little bit of cheese or natural peanut butter. Katie, when I started using a 12 hour window is when I started gaining this spring! Eating in the AM just sets it off for me. It's like a time bomb or something. It's funny because many of the reports I've read have indicated the opposite, as in: if you eat breakfast, you won't eat as much. But I'm the opposite: if I eat breakfast, I will want to eat and eat and eat and eat all day long. Where's Barb today? Guess I'd better get some work done...see you all soon! Rachel |

Lolabee - Hi! Nice to have you here! It just naturally comes to me to not eat breakfast everyday since I'm not hungry then anyway. Hope you enjoy IF as much as everyone here does
![]() Missalissa - Cute Comic!!! Barb - Yeah, where are you? We miss you ?Rachel - Don't feel bad about forgetting the veggies in that bottom drawer. I USED to do this all the time and I'm sure many, many people have done this as well. It's as if when you buy the veggies, you have all good intentions of really eating them. But, then they just sit there. You are so right about the chopper - how easy and nice it is to have all your veggies all chopped up for the week in a matter of minutes. I too am finding that when things are ready and prepared I eat them a lot more. I never used to like left overs either, but am certainly learning to appreciate those too. I like having left over omelets, meats, low carb pizza, etc. to just have ready to grab when I need a quick meal or snack. I did try the zucchini pizza crust on saturday and LOVED it!!! It's easier than the cauliflower crust and there's no real taste of the zucchini either - just pizza goodness, lol. Sazzie - YES! It does make you want to do even more experiments in the kitchen!!! I was spending a good 30 minutes each week just chopping the veggies for the veggie soup I make my dh. Now, I could see where those veggies will be ready in 3 minutes. Melissa - my DH and kids aren't real picky, and they enjoy my cooking and baking. My dh just eats whatever I make him and likes everything so far. I don't go out of my way not to tell him that it's healthy for him and lower carb - if he asks I would certainly tell him. My kids are 1 and 3 and don't know the difference between low carb and not and I don't even want to get them started with diet stuff. I just want them to grow up eating healthy and getting activity everyday, lol. You have a great attitude about your dh in that you hope he'll eat lower carb, but yet it's his choice. That's how I feel about my dh too. If he really didn't want to eat what I pack him for lunch or cook him for dinner, I wouldn't be mad at him, I would just get him something else to eat. I also wanted to tell ya, I really love the Breyer's Carb Smart Vanilla Ice cream and hadn't tried the chocolate until you mentioned how you mix it with almonds. So, I bought choc the other day and it's really wonderful!!!! It's definitely worth the 4 carbs and it's one of the best chocolate ice creams I've ever had! So, since we're an ice cream loving family - it's so nice to be able to eat this low carb ice cream and really enjoy it too. I don't care much for the sugar free Edy's, it's a bit hard and doesn't have much flavor, maybe because it's low in fat as well. The breyers is not low in fat (although it's not too high either) and it tastes so great, doesn't it? As long as I keep losing each week, I will continue to have a little lc ice cream here and there, lol. Leigh - Yeah, sounds like waiting to open your window until lunch is a better fit for you. That's what I do, because I too would be afraid that if I opened the window in the morning, I would be too hungry all day and couldn't control myself.

Sazzie - The other day when you mentioned you had Wasa crackers over the weekend, it got me to thinking. I remember when I did low carb in late 90's and I would take a wasa fiber rye cracker and top it with a little pizza sauce and mozz cheese and cook in the micro until cheese melted. I cut it in half and it was like 2 pieces of thin crust pizza. I used to love Wasa crackers! Well, yesterday when I went to the groc store - I looked at the Wasa crackers again and saw that they have a new one called Crisp N' Light 7 Grain Cracker. Well, the carbs aren't too bad - about 3.7 carbs each big crackers and only 20 calories each. So, last night I made egg salad for my dh and I and we tried it on these wasa crackers and they were great!!!! I just love them!!! I will be careful and only have 1 or 2 a day on the days I do eat them. If I notice a stall, then I'll have to have them only once in a while then.
but just wanted to ask which Wasa crackers do you eat? Is it the Crisp N Light ones or the fiber rye? I believe these 2 have the lowest carbs in them. But then again, I didn't see the fiber rye and maybe they don't make those anymore, IDK. I also wanted to say that the other night my dh brought home a beef sandwich from his work that was a mistake. It was a beef sandwich with mozzarella cheese and green pepper. Well, I threw the bread away and ate 1/2 the beef, cheese and pepper on a plate. It was very good. I don't know why I didn't think of this before, to have him bring just the beef and cheese home for me. I like green pepper and never thought to put that on top of my beef and cheese. It's almost like things happen by accident - then I discover yummy new snacks that I never thought about, lol!!! Last edited by Ilove2read : 06-17-2008 at 03:06 PM. |

The fiber one has the least amount of carbs, but I'm finding that we can have all of them in moderation. They're especially good w/tuna & egg salads w/tomato, but I sure will try your pizza concoction. That sounds wonderful!!! Don't they make the most excellent substitute for crackers or bread? |

Busy day today. The A/C was installed. I'm NOT a happy camper. I also need to have the floor redone & can't find the same boards as I had previously in order to do over as much as I would like to have done. Will have to see if the extra boards I have will cover at least the missing boards.
It's been very stressful & I could just cry. Sorry for the whining but I'm very tired & disappointed in myself for not choosing wisely with who I had install the A/C & that they didn't give me any choice of what would be installed. They went with the WORST efficiency rating air handler & it will cost me big bucks every month. I could go on & on but will just sign off for now. Thanks for reading.

I wrote a long post this afternoon and it's been held by the moderators. I don't know what I would have said that would be problematic...I'm just not that wild or controversial and I wasn't promoting any websites. I hope it shows up?!! |

Thanks Melissa & Rachel for your good thoughts. I really don't have any recourse because I didn't insist on what SEER rating I wanted. I'll just have to suck it up

Chin up, my friend. This has been an especially difficult week for you with all those repairs, etc., and once it's all done, I'm sure you'll feel better about the whole situation. You've got a lot of other things on your mind, and that isn't helping either right now. Take some alone time for yourself, and try putting it all into perspective. You know I'm here for you!! ![]() Last edited by sazzie : 06-17-2008 at 05:14 PM. |

Well, there's my mystery post up there.
![]() I just finished hour 8 of Callanetics YAY. I am getting a little more flexible all the time. I was super tired tonight and just came home and relaxed on the floor. Then my neighbor from next door came over. She's turned into a real pest and wants to be the one to paint my house and etc. She told me that it will cost me 10K to have the inside of my townhouse painted and I said, No Way and she said, "well, then you must be hiring someone really desperate who doesn't know what he is doing." ARGH. She's insulted me and insulted my house, and she thinks I will pay her to help me WHY? I had to be really firm with her and tell her that I wasn't going to turn the job over to her when I have a licensed, bonded contractor who can help me for a reasonable price. Okay, enough ranting for the night, I need to wind down and not get wound up. ![]() See you all in the AM! Rachel |

![]() Rachel Glad that your post showed up. Yeah for you on being strong with the "pesty" neighbor. Thankfully, I'm in a much better frame of mind this A.M. Thanks everyone for the caring & support, it means a lot to me. The scale is finally starting to get back to my signature weight after bouncing up 2 + lbs. Now it's only 4/10 away from my low number. Still lots of work to do on the condo. I have to wait in for more repair people & would rather be out walking in the mall, LOL! Will check by later to see how everyone is doing. Hugs, Barbara |

Afternoon all
I coulnd't wait to start this WOE so I have started as of midnight yesterday and it's been 13hrs and I'm feeling good so far I was planning on having a full cleanse day where I could do an internal spring clean but might not go ahead with that as I am not planning of having a window till 5pm the next day...it would of been possible if I was off and could stay at home but I'm going to need a little energy for work and the gym ![]() So today at around 5pm I will have a protein shake and maybe a light lc meal to take me through to tomorrow.... Thinking about it, 2 years ago when I was a student and always broke I was doing this exact thing without wanting to or realising...I had just moved into a new flat which was quite far from the train station and I would wake up around 7am and have my coffee have a shower, get ready and leave the flat...it would take me 30 mins to walk to the train station and then I would be at uni for around 10am and would not eat breakfast till around 2-3pm then I would come home around 7pm and graze on seeds. I did this for about 2-3 weeks and everyone would say I looked so gaunt and had lost a lot of weight!! and I was never trying to lose weight at the time only trying to get by on what I had...one day I looked in the mirror and realised I was too skinny!!! well since that day a lot has changed and now I am doing this for both my health and to lose a little flab ![]() Well thats me for the day...hope you all will have a nice n stress free day ![]() xxx Lola

G' Wednesday Mornin, IFers,
Just a quick post here so I'm not MIA too much.....dd2 is here visiting, and we have a rather busy day scheduled. She is an exercise enthusiast so we will be doing our workouts together. Anyway, it's that time to start my stretching, so I'll see you all when I get the chance. |

Hi everyone,
Have been really busy, at work and at home. We're having my stepson's graduation party this weekend. We have a 4th of July party every year so we're just combining and doing it a little early. My DH is WAY picky about the house when we have this big party, so needless to say we're all going crazy cleaning every nook and cranny!!!! It's exciting, though, because I talked him into new shutters. Our house is a pale yellow and we got dark green shutters, and they look beautiful!!! I feel like I went out on a limb, but I'm glad I did!!! Also we put in a new light fixture in the foyer and a new ceiling fan in the kitchen. As far as the diet is going, I went back to the 7 to 12 a.m. window. I just think it's my farm upraising that taught me to eat early in the day and eat lightly at night. But that's how I lose the weight and feel the best. Maybe when I get the weight off I can switch my window back to 12 to 6, but I'm just not going to worry about it right now. I'm going to stick with what is helping me get the weight off. Barb, so sorry about your A/C, hope there's something you can do about it! You are so generous with your time on this board for everyone, wish there was something I could do for you! I've got to get busy here, thanks for reading this everyone! Theresa |

Just checking in-wt crawling down ounce by ounce. I notice with the IF, I don't get the wild weight swings I've always done, like gaining 7 lbs overnight. It seems like the "bounces" on the scale are more like a pound or two.
I'm guessing it's because I am not eating in the evenings and my innards have time to empty out.And get some rest while I sleep. Interesting. I think I will just not eat fruit for awhile, I like vegs so that will do. |

You are doing good & it's great to recall what worked for us in the past.Sazzie Enjoy your time with DD2. I know it will be a fun time for you. I'm pleased that my order of Magnesium Ultra arrived & it's just what my body wanted to help flush out the extra lbs. & keep my system moving regularily.Elaine Glad that the scale is inching down. Just a quick good morning...it's my busy meeting day at work, and I have the installer coming by to measure for carpet today and the painter is comiing by to bid on paint today. I have a small budget to complete these project, and I am used to just trying to do everything myself. But I am at the point where I need help to do these correctly and it makes sense to do them all together so that I only have to have my house torn up once.
See you all a bit later, have a wonderful day! Rachel |
