hey Jenny!

I like it because it seems to be atkins based but yet a little more liberal. I am basically doing my own thing, but when I came across this, I thought it was the most like what I am trying to do for me and the girls.

How long have you been doing it? Do you use a lot of soy (I dont because of hypothyroid)? Have you lost? Maintained? What is your favorite Stella Style recipe?

i'm a stella styler too! i started my low carb lifestyle in may of 03, and found george in august. i've maintained a 90 lb weight loss using his recipes. I have his easy cheesy chili chicken cooling as we speak! his site is full of tons of great advice and recipes. and yes, a new cookbook is in the works!

about 30 of us SS-ers gathered in Gatlinburg TN the first part of april, and george cooked for us! we had a blast!!!! hopefully i'll get some video of the trip on the site soon.

it's a great way of life, in my humble opinion! hope to see you there soon. (Hi jenny & christina!)

Hello Dinah!
There are Stella Stylers everywhere I go! I have not weighed since I started on May 5th,because that scale and me don't get along. If I weigh and don't lose, I usually panic and start fasting, starving, etc. and off I go again on that yo-yo road with a big fat binge at the end.So I don't know if I've lost or not and I really don't care because this way of living makes me feel so great I just can't tell ya'! I have tried the SS chicken wings, Sangria, cheesecake, mock potatoe salad, mock mashed potatoes, choc. chips, all very good and would recommend them all.

Oh man! I know, Wendy, that cheesecake is so good. What I love about it most is the real cheesecakey texture. Yummmmmy! Those Stellas know what they're doin". Just curious, do you or Dinah or any of the SS count the grams of protein eaten each day? Thanks.

hey Jenny,

I dont count my protein. I eat a lot of protein though. But I eat good veggies and stuff with most meals - breakfast is questionable. But I have been having an egg creme for breakfast and that REALLY fills me up.

Sorry so long to reply, but yes, I started out doing Atkins with 20g of carbs. Did that for about 6 weeks. Lost a couple inches around my waist(don't do scales) and then just started adding in some berries and such. At the present time I don't count anything. I just eat Stella Style which is "Eat when you are hungry and stop when you are satisfied" from the allowed foods list of course. As George says "what could be simpler?"

Thanks Jenny for your reply. I have lurked on the Stella Style site for awhile. I am on order for his cookbook from the library. When I see how much his family has lost it is so inspiring to me as I have a ton of weight to get off myself. Now I will look more into the Atkins diet to get started. Thanks again. Any free advice you can give me I would appreciate.

did anyone not do induction - just started eating stella style? I wonder what kind of results that would give. Or do you need to "detox" for a few weeks on induction?

What plan exactly did George Stella lose all the weight on? What does his current plan look like? I love watching his shows, although I haven't seen it in a long time. Does he still have it on the food network?

Hi Faithgirl!

Those are good questions you have. I will try my best to answer them, and also, give you his website addy so you can read his story in his own words!

George Stella - Stella Style Community

As I recall, George Stella lost all his weight on his own version of the Atkins plan. He is a talented chef, and his wife is a professional Baker, so between the two of them, they came up with delicious recipes for main dishes, desserts, etc. Anything they craved and missed, they made a low carb recipe for. He shares those recipes with us, some are free on his website, and much more in his two books, available at bookstores and libraries everywhere. The names of the books are:

Livin' Low Carb

Eating Stella Style

He gives a list of what to eat. Eat as much as you want from the acceptable food list. Be creative with it. It is all low carb foods that are the ingredients for his recipes.

I don't know if his show is currently showing on the Food Network Channel. There was some talk about it being shown in Spanish soon, or at an early A.M. time. in English.

What I like about George and Rachel Stella, is that they are good role models, they show how they did it, so we can do it too! They have friends on their website who answer every question about every issue that can come up living a low carb lifestyle. They are really nice, generous people. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Hi everyone! All your "StellaStyle" questions can be answered on the website, and anyone can contact me personally any ol' time! George posts on the site every day almost, if he's not out of town or something. He is very generous to his members, and tries his best to do what he can to promote the low carb lifestyle to the world.

He has a lot of things "in the works" right now, besides his new cookbook, which last i heard will be out in January. I've seen the color photos of his recipes, and I CAN'T WAIT!!!! He's also shared a couple of recipes from the new cookbook. One I can think of offhand is his chocolate bark. It's on the website as a sticky under desserts.

As for the questions about "how I did it", instead of me boring you with it here, check out the website. My "handle" is dingie_dinah and I'm a loudmouth on the board. all you have to do is click on my handle and it will take you to my profile. My entire story is there, along with some pictures if you can stomach them.

There are TONS of success stories there, and TONS of information on the home page. George basically lays out all the information found in the first 30 pages of both of his books. His story is an evolution of his process through his weight loss. Fascinating and extremely inspirational info, if you ask me.

Hope to see some of you over there soon, and if you join us, make sure you pop in and say hi!

have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at dingbatdinah@yahoo.com and make sure you put SS in the title, so I don't "spam" you!

Happy StellaStyling! and have a great weekend! I'll be around the computer all weekend, cause I'm gonna VEG!!!!

I sooooooo miss George on the Food Network..... I never even watched the channel until I saw one of his shows..I could have cried when he went off the air.....He was so positive and happy...you could just be in a good mood after watching the show, even on your worst low carb day.
