Well, the day flew by and I didn't even need a nap this time. I am alittle disappointed that my friend forgot to bring the bathing suit, I'll have to remind her for tomorrow, I'm showing her how to do make-up again, so we'll have fun with that.
I'm going to go home and hop on my bike, hopefully for an hour again... My desert didn't turn out, the walnuts were stale...yuk!! Made the whole thing taste nasty. Thats the only thing I hate about this way, you can't taste anything while making stuff. Oh well, I'll live....I still love cad!!!! ![]() See you all tomorrow.... ![]()

Patty, I am so relieved I haven't offended you. The only reason I said anything was because I feel as if we are all working together and I was only trying to help. I only want what is best for you and I don't want you to be frustrated anymore.
Tink, I had to laugh about you having several sizes of clothing in your closet. I was just digging through my drawers for a smaller pair of jeans to try on only yesterday. Judy, I enjoyed your story, thank you for sharing. Cindy, glad you made it through the day. It sounds like you and your friend will be having a good time with your make-up session. I am so happy you are making huge progress in your recovery. What a bummer about your dessert, it sounded so good too. Okay, time to go prepare my dinner! Have a nice evening!

Hi oriana! I wondered when we would see you!
Linda, you have biked 100 miles this week? WOW... I knew that you like to ride your bike but I had no idea you rode that far! I'm glad to see that everybody is doing well. Things are good on my end.. I'm up 2 lbs but that's because I had a seafood day yesterday... you know, I would see food then eat it.. really it was bad but I don't have anybody to blame but myself. Guess I just let my emotions get to me yesterday. But today's a new day! Y'all have a good one; I'm off to work.

Good morning,
oriana, it is great that you found your way to this new thread. How are things going? Dana, I am enjoying your sense of humor! I read your post and was wondering what sea food would cause you to have a 2 lb. weight gain? You are such a character and I hope that today is better for you. Patty, enjoy your golf game! It turned out that I didn't have to take DH to the doctor yesterday since he was filling a bit better. He believes he had food poisoning but we don't know how he got it. No one else in this household had it for which I am thankful. I was able to get 2 sets completed on the bowflex last night with a bit of help from DH. Since we began working out on the bowflex, I have been trying to assist DH in the set up so I can workout by myself, without his assistance, if I need to. I didn't get much of anything done yesterday with DH home all day. It seems like it took me all morning to book my Dad a flight to Mexico since I am on dial-up and it is so slow. I have a huge list of things to do today so after my WATP power walk I will be getting started. DH and I have a Mother's Day weekend planned beginning tomorrow. We will be traveling to the Bay Area to visit his Mom on Saturday. We will probably take her to dinner before we leave to spend the night at my sister's empty house. My sister is in Mexico on vacation and her house is only 15 minutes from my folks' house. We will be spending Sunday with my folks and grandma. DH will either be making prime rib or steak on Sunday and I will make sure to include a salad and veggie for me plus my choice of a baked potato, garlic bread, or dessert as my carb. My menu for yesterday included: CM: 2 cups of coffee CM: Pork chop & green beans w/vinaigrette RM: Salad w/ranch, avocado, bacon bits, & colby cheese, chicken fajita meat, green beans w/vinaigrette, and an ice cream bar. I took my chromium and drank my water. Have a wonderful day! |

Hi all!
Teri, it sounds like you're going to have a busy, but great weekend! Enjoy yourself! It so nice to have family to enjoy. Yay, Tink -- you're doing really well on CAD -- good for you!! I think this plan is the best of both worlds, really! Linda, I'll be keeping you in my thoughts on Monday for your surgery. I hope all goes well for you. I walked for 30 minutes at the mall this morning, as it's raining outside today. I just finished a CM of 2 scrambled cheese/ham eggs, and I'm drinking a lot of water (as usual ). Last night's RM was tuna salad, 1 slice of bread, cold broccoli salad, a few chips, a milkshake and 2 sugar free candies.I'm probably making a chicken stir-fry for supper tonight, and it will be early, as my DD (16) works tonight. It's hard for me to believe that she will be a senior next year -- I know it's cliche, but time has gone so fast! I just started pricing senior pictures, and I think a lot of the prices are outrageous! I had one photographer tell me that I could expect to pay a minimum of $500 -- for senior pictures!!! To me, that's insane! Needless to say, I'll be shopping around!Gotta run for now, and I'll be back later...stay on your plans, friends!

Happy Friday Lovely Ladies!:)
Everyone is rockin' and rollin' LOVE the energy on the thread!
Pounds are flying off and people are doing so well! and LoraJR72 has joined us! Stephanie - I read your post and was talking to Mikey at the same time and read "vinegar/oil), an apple, and a milk shake" but thought that you had a vinegar, oil, apple,MILK SHAKE! I was like and then re-read it and was relieved! ![]() I GOT MY CALP book in the mail and I am THRILLED!!!! I am going to choose 1 or 2 options to add later. Want to get in the groove of the basic plan before I add too much and feel overwhelmed! ![]() But yes, THRILLED, THRILLED, THRILLED that the book came! I LOVE how it has so many recipes! I think this is a better read than the CAD book that I have. So, starting tomorrow morning my friend Lisa and I are going to be emailing DAILY what we ate and keeping each other encouraged. We see each other at TOPS at my house on Thursday evenings and we do a "dinner and visiting night" on Mondays (all the kids play, our hubbies hang out and Lisa and I visit) so we were talking last night how it would be nice to cook in bulk some weeks for meals to freeze - grab and go type deals to keep us on track. She is not on CAD but since I use dinner for my RM it will be very helpful! She is fully aware of my plan as I shared with her (actually gave her the carb sensitive test last night and she got a 32 (mine is a 45) so I shared with her info in the book and she will support me on my plan. She is going to start weighing daily too and averaging. She liked that idea! I am going to start Chromium this weekend! Hubby wants to do that as well. All in all, I think I am getting into the groove of things! Everyone have an awesome day! ![]() Monica

Ya!!! Lora!!!! You'll love it, after the strictness of a low carb diet, good luck hun and just remember, you'll get those carbs again in just 24 hours away!!! Get your GTF chromium though, cause those really helped me with cravings and hunger. During your first two weeks, find out which meal makes it the easiest for you for you RM. I did one week of dinner for my RM and switched right away to lunch!! Eating the RM at night cause me bloating and big water bags under my eyes in the morning and I had to go to work like that!! Soon as I switched, it was perfect for me. Everyone is different though, so just go with the flow and stick to the basic guidlines, your body will tell you what to do by the way you'll feel....good luck!!
Oh and don't forget that if your on low carb now, that you can expect to gain the first couple of days or so, as you body catches on and balances, you'll start losing, so don't get scared off in the beginning!![]() Morning all.........I did a half hour on my bike last night, I didn't want to push it and besides we wanted to watch a movie instead... So tonight I'll do half hour again and 5 minutes on the stepper rocker thing. OMG!!!! My friend just brought in the bathing suit and ITS SOOOO CUTE!!! Oh my gosh, it really is a two piecer!! The top is bright flowery colors, halter style, and the skirt has a top band with the colors and the rest of the skirt is black!! I'm sure I'll have to lose some more before I actually wear this though. If I'm brave enough at all, at home maybe! ![]() They are having grilled ham and cheese and tomato soup, and I brought brownie's and ice cream, pinapple slices. I eat that for the bromalin in it, suppose to take the swelling down??!! I haven't noticed it yet, but I LOVE pineapple anyway!! Gotta go do some work and makeup playtime,,,see you later girls. ![]() |

![]() ![]() Hi Monica....Ya for you and hubby, is he doing cad too?? I'm trying to get mine on it, and he is trying and has lost 15 pds....he's sorta doing what I'm doing one meal a day mostly....until he brings out the potato chips later in the evening... Anyway, good luck girls and post with any questions, everybody is great about answering them.....![]() Monica....I just went back and read your post and I just wanted to add that you are going to do super good, you are soooo syked and thats the way to be.....it's nice to be excited about a plan, espcially one that WORKS!!! Good luck hun!!! Last edited by coxbowen : 05-09-2008 at 09:36 AM. |

This AM: I ate a wonderful breakfast of yogurt, a juicy pear, my 1oz. of oatmeal and a 4oz. glass of 1% milk. I don't know if this is considered a RM but it sure tasted good!
10 Almonds for my snack. The rest of the day is meat and veggies only! I haven't received my book as yet. |

I forgot to say that I just started reading the CAD book because I am curious to know what the difference is between CALP and CAD.
I will not be changing my program from CALP since it is so easy for me to follow, but feel it could be beneficial for me to understand it. Stephanie, chicken stir-fry sounds delicious. My youngest two were Seniors last year so I can feel your pain times two. Lora, congratulations on making the jump to CAD. It may take a few days for the hunger and cravings to go away but once they do, you may wonder what took you so long to give it a try. I know that many of us have found exactly what we were looking for in this WOE and I hope you will too. Good luck! Tink, you always seem to be so upbeat and positive even when you experience a slight gain. Great job on losing that .5 lb.! Thank you for taking the time to share your enthusiasm for this WOE because I know it can be extremely helpful to us all. mikeysmommy, I hope you enjoy the book. I believe the book says to get started on the basic plan for two weeks and then, if you are ready, to begin adding options every two weeks after that. I began with the easiest option for me which was the chromium. I had no idea what the purpose was in adding it, until Cindy explained it to me. I feel it is important to be a part of a support group or groups, since it helps to keep you motivated. Good luck! Cindy, I love your excitement over the bathing suit! Lora, your comment "I don't know if this is considered a RM but it sure tasted good!" is the primary reason I have decided to read the CAD book. The laundry just beeped at me so goodbye for now! |

Hi Lora - Good job on the RM this morning! Yep, definitely RM foods. I'm not 100% sure on snacks since I don't eat them, but I don't remember reading that nuts were allowed for them - I thought a snack, if you chose to have them are just like a cm (basically meat/fish/poultry and veg as you said) but a little smaller. I may be wrong though - so I'll let someone who knows the CAD/CALP plans better chime in. But just wanted to confirm that yes, that was your RM for today!
Teri - thanks for the nice compliment about always seeming upbeat. I think I'm just so thrilled to be seeing the scale go down at all - even though there are some up days - and I'm still in disbelief that I'm eating the things I am and losing. I know some people would say it's because of the amount that I'm eating (especially since only 1 meal a day for me right now) but I don't think it really is only that - not after all the experimenting I've done over the last year with trying different things. I really think my body and mind are now happy and satisfied and as far as the amount I'm eating, I am definitely not wanting more and I feel that the "extra" on my body is making up for what I'm not eating - isn't that the whole point of weight loss? To use what we've built up? And then when I've reached my goal, I will increase with good healthy cm meals to maintain. At least that's how I see it from here. And the view from here doesn't seem restrictive or like something I couldn't live with! So halleluliah! Had a spontaneous work at home day today so I was able to schedule a plumber to come deal with some non-urgent issues this afternoon before I leave on my trip. Cindy I'm so excited for you being back at work and feeling good! Can't wait to see those bathing suit shots when you're ready! whooo hoooo! Have a good day all - -Tink

Monica - I'm happy for ya that you got that book in the mail! I too, get so excited when I get a new book!!! I love reading! Hope you enjoy it! Stephanie - yeah, a little time has passed (14 years) - but I remember my senior pictures being so expensive and my Mom really complaining about it. I hope you're able to find a better price!!! Cindy - That suit does sound cute, and I bet you'll fit into it in no time!!! MommaPatty - Are you going to try a big Reward Meal and maybe a smaller CM during the day? Whatever plan you choose, I hope it works great for you!!! Sometimes it just takes time to find what's right for you. I've been changing things around since October. I feel funny that if someone asks me how'd I lose the 55 lbs., I can't give them just 1 answer - because I've tried different things along the way to keep the scale moving. For the most part it's been low carb, CAD and WW. Teri - Your mother's day weekend you have planned sounds so nice. I will probably go visit my Mom on saturday and then be home on sunday. My dh works all day sunday and doesn't come home til 7-8 pm. I know I won't get any gifts or anything because my kids are 1 and 3 and my husband is never home. It's ok though, I'm just happy to have children! I'll try to plan something fun for just the 3 of us and then maybe when dh gets home we can have a nice dinner.

Back from Golf. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn today. It was 96 degrees out there and I got too hot, and could only play 13 holes today. I can tell that I am still sick but I wanted to play...

Hi Everyone! It's good to see everyone doing so well! Busy day today here. I had my pre-op appt. and had to get groceries. I'm about to go downstairs to do weights...
Food is going great for me! I am having a steak for dinner since I'll be eating alone tonight! Kind of an early Mother's Day dinner - good food and time alone! Lora, I'm sure you are going to love CAD! It's a great plan! We are going to do a rummage sale again tomorrow at SIL's house so I need to prepare some food to take along. They'll get fast food or something for lunch and I would rather bring my own stuff. I better get off the computer and get busy!

Lora, Tink is right, no nuts unless it's at the RM. And if you want faster weight loss, try no snacks, the Hellers say that if you want to slow your weight loss down, then thats what the snacks are for.
The difference between cad and calp is basicly none....in calp, they have learned(it's written after cad book) that if you have broccoli and you get hunger or cravings, then eliminate it, same goes for any food that makes you crave, then it's best to keep it in the RM meal. See, this is why I had to go to one meal a day(RM), because I was getting cravings from eggs, or green beans, I just had a ruff time doing two meals a day in my first year on cad. Then when I went to one meal, it was like magic....no more cravings, or hunger....I have been doing one meal a day for a year now and I don't see that changing...ever!! I don't want to ruin something that is working so well. WOW! That was a big answer, huh?! ![]() ![]() Our make-up session was a big hit and she is beautiful, she just spent a couple of hundred bucks just getting her basic stuff to get her started. But it really looks good on her and she got all kinds of compliments today. I'll let you know if the suit looks good or funny on me... I hope it'll look good, you girls just know how to perk a girl up....thanks girls!!![]() We're going out to eat tomorrow...chinese buffet.... oh please don't let there be too many glutamates, I'll be puffed up like a blow fish!!![]() Last edited by coxbowen : 05-09-2008 at 04:44 PM. |

Hi Ladies-
I've been busy gardening and quilting and I thought I would check in. I am so glad everyone is doing great. Cindy I was reading your post and just was thinking how in a year you've only had 365 meals instead of the standard 1095 (or more) with the 3 squares a day. That is really amzing when you think about it. I am not on track. But I will try to get back with it tomorrow. I have just been enjoying my distractions lately but I will be back on plan tomorrow. Hi to all the new ladies and everybody keep up the good work. You all are so inspiring.
