DOG IS GOING! He lunged forward in his crate with me and Mikey outside of it.
HE IS GONE GONE GONE GONE GONE! Getting ready to take him back now. I am recommending to hubby's brother that this dog is NOT adopted out to anyone else! It's unpredictable. Hubby sounds mad at me because he likes it so much. SCREW IT - Mikey is on my side now he said THAT BROWN DOG NEEDS TO LEAVE US! ![]() |

What kind of Breed is that dog??? My Granddaughter had a Chow and Shepard Mix, and they had to get rid of the dog because it bit the middle child... My husband took him to the vet and had him put to sleep...I know that sounds drastic but the dog had other problems too. This was a rescue dog and never buy a dog that is a Chow or Chow mix. Make sure you know what Breed you are getting. The Chows are very aggressive and not good around children...

I so understand your discomfort about the dog! I think you're doing the right thing. Your children are too precious to risk them being bitten by a bad-tempered or unpredictable dog.
I'm having a real problem with one of my two "labramutts" and I'm just going back and forth with myself about what to do. They were both strays, sisters, that hung around until we gave in and kept them. It's been about four years now and we love them both very much. BUT, they're sisters and they have terrible fights. The bigger dog is just very dominant and the little dog always has to defer to her. We have to sit and watch them eat so the big one won't intimidate the little one away from her own bowl. They are strictly outside dogs since we can't keep them in the house because of our severe allergies. That makes it almost impossible to train them well. One would be hard, but two won't work at all. We also think that they were abused before they were dumped here because they still shy away from sudden movements and loud noises. The big one, Maddie, barks at people that come over. It's the fear/aggression barking that makes her unpleasant for visitors. The other issue, and the one that's got me thinking I need to find a new home for her, is that I made the mistake of trying to take a chew bone away from her a few weeks ago. She got really ugly, growling and snapping. I persisted because I was trying to show her who's boss. I really almost got bitten! It made me think about how it's going to be a problem when I have grandkids in the not-too-distant future. I would never trust her around children after that incident. Now, except for that incident and the fighting with her sister, she's a very good dog. Very sweet, gentle, and calm. I think she'd be a marvelous house pet for someone who had the time and patience to properly train her. I'm sharing all this because I wonder if maybe some of you would have advice on going about finding her a good home. I feel terrible that I haven't been more successful with her and I know it'll be hard on her and her sister both to be separated, so I'm not taking this lightly. I can't bring myself to dump her on the Humane Society. Any advice? I've posted their pics before, but here they are again: ![]()

This is Buddy and angel my best friends. Angel sits on the back of the couch and watches the neighbourhood. Buddy is looking out the window nose to nose with a squirrel.
They are brother and sister, droped off at the pound when they were very little..I love them to bits |

Hi girls....it's almost time to go home, it's been busy today and I haven't even had a chance to read all the posts. I did read some of the doggie posts though, since we have 4 dogs ourselves.
Mikesmom... I'm sorry you have to give the doggie back to your brothers, but I think your right!! If they are comfortable with him, it's better than going back to the humane society, and don't feel bad about it hun! You'll find one that fits into your family. ![]() Laurie, I would look for a family that has a farm or a single family person for each of your doggies, don't worry about splitting them up, animals feel a loss, but they don't remember who they are missing until they smell them again. Your one doggie will be happier without the other dog after her all the time anyway, I think you'll have better luck of finding a home for just one dog instead of trying to keep them together. I know it's hard, I have gone through some similar things in the past with dogs and it is hard, but we have to do what is right for them. Good luck, Laurie... I'm so tired today, I can't even think straight, I'm just gonna sign off for now and I'll see you all tomorrow....I have 3 days off..... ![]()

Hi everyone! I have been on plan but eating way, way, way too much! LOL My birthday stretched on for about a week, and today is my wedding anniversary, so we went out on the weekend etc. My pants feel tight this morning so I am pulling in the reins! lol
Love all the pics and stories about the dogs. I wanted one so badly as a kid, but sadly, I am allergic. And with the twins, it would just be way too much work for me! lol RM tonight should be a veggie and cheese sandwich (pita, avocado, cheese, grilled eggplant, tomato, honey mustard sauce), fruit and some dark chocolate or a haagen daas mini ice cream bar. Personals later! Pam |

Hello everyone,
DH and I got a Chow/Shepard mix just as she was weaned from her litter. We raised that dog with a four year old, an infant, and then another infant when he was born. She was the best dog and very protective of the kids. She lived for 14 years and she died when the kids were teenagers and they felt like they lost a member of their family. I am sorry but I don't believe in horrible breeds of dogs but believe it is the way they are raised that make them that way. I am heading to my folks house again tomorrow. I will be staying over night and then will be leaving by 12:30 pm on Wednesday for my girlie appointment with the gynecologist. I tried to reschedule but then I would have had to wait another two months and mom didn't want me to have to do that. My sister will be staying with grandma Wednesday afternoon so mom can still enjoy her Maj Jong games. Since yesterday was grandparents day and my grandma is the only grandparent I have left, I am making her favorite dessert of chocolate fudge to take with me. DH made some chicken vegetable soup yesterday so I will take some of that too. DH and I completed Bowflex last night and I just completed 3 miles of WATP Walk Away Your Waistline this morning. My menu for yesterday included: CM: 2 cups of black coffee CM: Shrimp salad w/bacon bits, colby cheese, & ranch RM: Salad w/ranch, Ribeye steak, green beans w/vinaigrette, and a Haagen Dazs chocolate ice cream bar I took my chromium and drank plenty of water. |

Hi peeps, how's everyone?
I'm down a pound and am really happy with it even though I just had to make Fettucini Alfredo at home because I thought I was going to go crazy if I didn't get my fix on pasta. I've been eating at home more to control the sodium and the unknown. I think that I will start writing down what I eat to be able to notice the trends in the way my body reacts to different foods. I wish I'd done that the week I lost 4 lbs but now I can't remember what I ate. Today everything sounds good for dinner... pizza, chicken wings. Even though there's leftovers in the fridge zi think I will treat myself today to something bad. This morning I had two scrambled eggs for CM and RM who knows. ttyls, Lara |

Hi, I was reading " You on a diet" and the Dr says to only have one meal a day that has variety.. Like Angela said eat 2 meals that are very much the same, and one meal that can be changed on a daily basis..Just like CAD.
I am counting calories and I love it. More fruit, less meat but healthy.. I feel better... Today my mom had surgery and I have not done well with my food but not real bad either.. Teri I totally agree with you... it is not a bad breed just bad owners... I love dogs!!!

Very quick email - we spent the whole day (got up at 7:30 got to the Puyallup Fair at 10 am and left at 7:00 pm) OH MAN I AM TIRED and red like a Lobster!
We had LOTS of fun! Mikey went on 10 rides and was so darn cute! I got this cool grill thing for $40 that cooks on the stove!!! Happy camper here as you just put the liquids under in the pan part and the meat on top or vegetables NO added calories! ![]() Be back tomorrow! I'm taking my Lobster buns to bed now! ![]() Oh and I agree with the statement that bad owners make breeds bad. I had an American Staffordshire Terrier (known to many as the evil monster pitbull) well, EVERYWHERE we went my dog was the sweetest and got the most attention! Everyone just loved him! The worst thing he did was steal my pasta from the coffee table when I brought him home at 12 weeks ![]() I miss him dearly. I CRINGE when I see the bully breed braggers walking down the street with bully breeds. They don't have them for the right reasons (companionship and to give lots of love) they have them to make themselves feel TOUGH and in turn make these dogs into monsters and THEN the dog gets the bad rap. It's sad. ![]() Last edited by mikeysmommy33 : 09-08-2008 at 10:00 PM. |

Hi all! I hope you all are well, especially those of you that have been under the weather lately! I have been really busy (like all of us), but believe me, I think of this great group every day!
Monica, thank you for the "crepe" recipe! I just made a batch and had two of them with rolled up with roast beef and provolone cheese -- yum! It's a nice change of pace! Sorry about the dog not working out, but your baby boys are too precious to risk (I know you know that, but I'm agreeing with you!) Welcome back, HappyOne! And congratulations to you on your new bundle of joy! My oldest DD turns 17 today! And on Thursday, she will be having oral surgery to remove her wisdom teeth. I'm maintaining my weight loss, but I'd like to get to the "120 pounds lost" mark, so only a few more to go. But believe me, I'm thankful to God everyday for the incredible gift!! OK, gotta run for now....stay on your plans! See ya!

Good morning,
mikeysmommy, I had to laugh when you referred to your Staffordshire Terrier as an evil monster. Theo happens to be a Staffordshire Terrier, aka evil monster, around our place. We have pictures of him sleeping with goats and baby bunnies. We used to have free range chickens before I got tired of the mess they left behind and none of our dogs cared where they went. Theo had a duck that absolutely loved him and he tolerated that duck getting on his back when he was lying down. He actually protects the bunnies that DD19 lets run around the house and won't let the cats near them. He is very protective of his property and will not let raccoons or skunks within his reach but has no problems with wild turkeys or deer on the property. We got Theo as a puppy and raised him to be a farm dog as well as a loving companion. I have been meaning to post photos but haven't gotten around to it. We have a website of our farm with several photos if you want to take a look. Photo galleries | Curryosity I am getting ready to go out of town this morning and will not be back until tomorrow evening. I am taking some food with me so I don't have to settle for what is available at my folks house. DH and I completed our Bowflex workout this morning and I am taking WATP with me so I can get it done tomorrow morning. My menu for yesterday included: CM: 2 cups of black coffee CM: Ribeye steak and green beans w/vinaigrette RM: Salad w/ranch and leftover homemade pizza w/pepperoni I forgot to take my chromium but drank plenty of water. I hope everyone has a wonderful successful couple of days! |

Just checking in for the day. The sun is out, and gorgeous fall day.
I have decided to keep track of excercise by calories burned--found a website that I could track that, just like I do food. Can do food on the same site. My life varies so much from day to day, I have trouble trying to get an excercise routine and stick with it, and then like eating, once a person "falls off" it is hard to get back into it. Mine goes from daily chores, to working on building, to working and riding horses, to running the tow trucks, and tractor work sometimes. And where this website has calorie levels for lots of those things, it might be just what I needed. Wait and see how it goes, but I am going to give it a whirl, after a week of seeing what calories I do burn every week.

I just came to the realization yesterday, when responding to another thread, that I may not be losing weight because of my own mental attitude. I am comfortable in the clothes I own, and if I lose much more, would have to re-invest in smaller clothes. And I really dislike shopping, as well as feeling like I was "wasting" the current clothes that would be too big. I have spent a year in that comfort zone, and wonder if the mental attitude is what has caused my weight to maintain. I have had excuses over the past year as to why I eat what I eat, but I wonder now if there was an underlying thought process going on..........I may be my own worst enemy, and never knew it. Anybody else ever do these kinds of things, or think it is possible reason for stalling out, or eating what one knows should be left alone? |

For anyone keeping track of this newbie to CAD
Second week down 1.3 pounds from first (set average) week So, I plan to alternate days of 2 CM and 1 RM with days of 1 CM & 1 RM and see if I can get loss to 2 pounds per week. Scales are heading down. Lost since starting low carb 7/28/08 12.5 pounds. About 1 pound of that since starting CAD 8/25 because I had some initial gain coming off of Atkins. I love all the talk about dogs. My two babies in a sweet moment. |
