Laurie - I'm afraid I don't have much for you. All it says on pg. 56 is "most people like green beans, though they often forget they are part of the legume family." I was really surprised to read that too, he says the same thing about peas. It made me think of Cindy, who in her old posts, used to say green beans during her CM's would make her crave and stall! It's great they don't bug you. I ate them all the time when I used to have CM's and had no problems. I guess everyone reacts differently!

We are out of town this weekend (my dad's 75th birthday) and out of town again next weekend (DH's dad's 80th birthday). I am going to try to stick to plan but not going to beat myself up if it doesn't work. I find sticking to plan is a lot harder when I am not in control of when and what I eat.

Kate
Kix???? Oh man I haven't had Kix in a long time. Do the best that you can and Monday is just around the corner.

Not sure what I'm going to do yet - feel like saying screw it.

Dinner tonight was whole wheat pasta with ground turkey/spaghetti sauce
Dessert was 1/2 cup of oatmeal with a pat of butter, sugar and splash of cream. It was really good. Kind of tasted like healthy rice pudding
Don't say screw it!! I sent you a pm. You can't give up. We're going to figure this out.

I'm still hanging in here. No appreciable weight loss. I continue to go up and down the same three pounds. I've continued to enjoy my Wii games and am generally more active than before.

We're moving DD20 to college again this Saturday. This time she'll be much closer to home (only about an hour), so the move isn't such a big deal. My DH has to work out of town, so DD24 and my parents are helping us. If only she didn't have a third floor apartment with no elevator! She's happy because nobody will live above her to make a lot of noise.

I'm glad to see so many of you posting regularly. I mostly lurk, but keep up with everyone.
Do you have Wii fit?? I love Wii Fit!!! I've been kinda lazy lately though. Keep doing what you're doing and the scale will move.

Whew you've been busy!! I'm tired from reading that. 255.5 is great!

Well girls, I hate to tell you this but I just have to have carbs. I cannot do without them and I was getting lathergic again from eating LC, so I am going to do my best, to eat good carbs and go from there. I have tried and tried again to do CAD, and it just does not work for me. The Dr, says that I am extremely healthy so I am just going to do the best I can... I had cereal and toast for Breakfast, and lunch I had a healthy sandwich. For dinner I am having a healthy salad and cataloupe... I have an abundance of energy today, by getting back on the carbs. I think LC messes with my thyroid too much... I am still going to be here for you and will report in...
If you need to eat carbs during the day then do so!! Still post here though! We don't want to lose you!

I am just logging everything into my Fitday and keeping to a certain calorie level.
Lara - I just added the avocado this week so I don't think it's that. I did eat onions during the day (do almost daily) though so who knows.
I'm just frustrated and going to switch gears completely.
You know what they always say regarding insanity "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results!" So, I'm not doing the same thing anymore.
Patty - I guess you and I are pretty much on the same page!
Glad you have more energy today! Do what is best for you! I'm doing the same. Don't you hate having thyroid issues? I HATE IT!

So, this morning I had 2 eggs scrambled, 1/2 avocado, 1.5 oz. cheese, 1 cup milk, ice, espresso - for a total of: 532 and 20 grams of carbs.
I am going to shoot for staying under 100 -150 carbs a day however, I won't flip out if I go over. I need to make this a lifestyle change not just a number game I play with myself. I also want to stick right around 1800-1900 calories for starters and then going down as needed.
Sounds like a good plan.

The trouble is that with low thyroid you need more carbs to keep your thyroid working right and you feel it when you don't. I was so tired all the time when I did strictly LC and felt so weak. I did LC for a full 1 1/2 years straight and no cheats and felt awful. I know that LC is wonderful for some people and I am not putting it down, but It just did not work for me...
I'm glad to hear you're not leaving.

I am actually doing Atkins right now but plan to switch over later. I think CAD is easier to live with long term.
I think it's the summer edition. Just jump in anytime!

Even eating with higher carbs today I still have low energy.
I have been thinking about what Lara said off and on all day -
"do you think maybe it could be the avocado and maybe the onion? avocado is on the list of foods that are not all created equal and it says in the book to limit yourself to a very small amount of onions during your CM as well."

Even though the avocado was added just within the last couple of days I have done red onion everyday since I started. I love it! Maybe it doesn't love me back!
I also talked to Oraki via pm (THANKS MY DEAR I'LL BE PM'ing YOU BACK TOO!) about her doing WW and CAD together and then there was me researching the internet trying to find the best way to eat for insulin issues. None of them that I can find say that eating carbs are going to help insulin resistance
The closest that I could find was them saying that WEIGHT LOSS in general will help with insulin issues but no where did I find a good argument for EATING carbs when having insulin issues! I LOOKED THOUGH because I wanted to HEAR what I WANTED to hear!
So, perhaps I will still do a calorie level or POINTS as Oraki is doing WITH CAD still and NO ONION except for reward time OR avocado unless at RM time!
I'll give this a SOLID two weeks-maybe a MONTH (TOM starts like on the 30th/31st etc. so don't want to weigh and take those results until AFTER TOM is over so I will get an accurate weigh in. IF at that time there is no change in scale THEN I will make my modifications.
I know ladies - I'm a basket case!
You're welcome. You better pm me back!!

Oraki - You have a PM
So tonight for dinner I had left over turkey tenderloin with a little BBQ sauce on it, lots of zucchini with a tiny bit of cheese melted on it (cooked with EVOO) and sweet potato fries with little blop of mayo. So delicious! Washed it down with sugar free iced tea!
So tomorrow morning I am back on CAD with no onion or avocados other than RM's!
Here is a picture of my dinner tonight - my sandwich I had today at lunch (when I was calorie counting and not CADDING) and my RM from last night which was whole wheat pasta with turkey spaghetti sauce (didn't take a picture of my oatmeal though because I forgot! Probably too excited to eat it!

Good evening,

DH and I just got home and we still have to do our Bowflex exercises so I will make this short.

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: 2 cups of black coffee

CM: Pork chop and green beans w/vinaigrette

RM: (Restaurant) Salad w/cucumber, tomatoes, & ranch, ribeye steak, sour dough bread, onion blossom, and chocolate cake

I had more food choices than I normally eat but I tried to balance everything as best as I could.

I took my chromium and drank plenty of water.

Alright can you say TIME OUT!!!!
I gave the munchkins baths tonight and after bath time I was getting the baby dressed and hear a BUNCH of giggling coming from the bathroom - my son decided to give our CAT A BATH!
She was in there with us the whole time and she does take baths and likes the blow drier but tonight was NOT her bath night! Especially one given by a 3 1/2 year old. As you can see....Lola is NOT impressed!

Oh, my! That cat cracks me up! Your son was lucky he didn't get scratched, I'll bet!

Oraki, yes, I have Wii Fit as well as the Sports games that came with it. It's SUPER FUN!

Thanks for looking up that info about green beans, Pam. I've never heard that. Thank goodness it doesn't kick up cravings for me. I eat them almost every day, sometimes a whole can!

Good morning,

I completed my Bowflex workout last night and WATP is still scheduled for this morning.

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: (Hotel) 2 cups coffee, scrambled eggs, bacon

RM: (Restaurant) Salad w/ranch, Tri-tip w/BBQ sauce, and 1/2 slice texas toast

I really miss my veggies and now that I am home I will make sure I get enough.

Alright, so the cat looks normal again! Poor thing! i think the only thing that saved Mikey from getting scratched was the fact that she has been taking baths since she was just a little kitten.
Stepped on the scale and it was down 1.1 pounds. Happy about that!
It's about time the scale went the other direction!
Getting ready to eat breakfast. Not sure yet what it's going to be.
Last night at bedtime I pulled out my low carb cookbook and was trying to get some more ideas for meals! I found some tasty ones for sure! Looking at that book made me want to eat something but I stayed upstairs and didn't venture downstairs to get anything.
Hubby comes home today for the weekend!
vpsutton So glad you are joining us on Monday!

Patty was the itching worse yesterday with eating more grains? Or has it steadily been causing problems this whole week.
I wish that darn itching would stop! I can't even imagine how uncomfortable you must be!

Patty, I just had a visit with my doctor and I mentioned in passing that my eczema had really flared up lately. She told me that wheat and dairy allergies are the most common cause of itching. I actually knew that, but hadn't given it much thought in relation to my problem. Hmmm.... I wonder if that would affect you, too?

Well, I've got an official diagnosis of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. From my reading, it's an autoimmune disorder that is the most common of thyroid disorders. My doc has had me on the lowest dose of Armour thyroid for a couple of months, but today she doubled it. If my bloodwork gets worse, she'll start testing for viruses such as Epstein-Barr. I have no other symptoms of those kinds of things, so she's going to hold off for now. She also says that very low cortisol levels can cause this. Mine were normal in February, so she doesn't think that's it either. My life is honestly not very stressful at all, so I keep telling her I don't think that's a contributing factor. Oh, well. I hope the increase in meds will help me have more energy and lose this belly fat!

Laurie - no wonder! That makes sense about Hashimoto's, as you have said in the past no matter what you did you had trouble losing (I'm still reading the old posts)! lol Will you take meds to regulate your thyroid?

Monica - that is hilarious about the cat. What rascals! Mine coloured on our wall with crayon last night. When I asked the twins who did it they both blamed the other! lol

Patty - sorry you are still itching. How did the portion control go? Sometimes I will do that for a day or two, especially if I can't follow CAD due to social events. I like to shake things up too as I get bored, but then I come back to CAD! lol

Teri - what's tri-tip? Your menus sound delish as usual!

VPsutton - yes, all plans must start on a Monday! That's how I think anyway! lol The best time to start a plan is on January 1st though!

Vessel - are you just getting Fay rain or something worse? I hope it's just rain!

Hiya Tink, Oraki, Cindy, Kate, Lara, Angela and anyone else I inadvertently missed!

RM tonight? No clue. So far I have had a cup of coffee. I thought I'd be hungry, as I usually get hungry once in the day but then it goes away (if it doesn't I eat a CM). Strange. DH was supposed to go away all weekend for a stag, but he decided to stay home. He is swamped with work and I think he felt a bit sorry for me as I was starting to panic about being home with the girls for 3 days by myself! My twins are very good, but, well, they are 2.5 and BUNDLES OF ENDLESS ENERGY! I would be truly exhausted after taking care of them by myself. So I am very, very relieved!

Have a great day!

Pam

theredhead-I really hope that the increase in medication helps you! Thyroid issues sure wreak havoc on your quality of life. I sure hope you get the relief you need and help you lose some pounds!
Tink I'll be watching for your "my son/daughter did this today" photo later You will have TONS of them
EmandM - I have crayon drawings in VARIOUS places through out the house! They are so cute but man, what a mess! Michael doesn't have a twin to blame things on. He always says "It wasn't me, it was SUPER ROBOT!" He has tried to blame his little brother on things too but he knows that doesn't work especially if his brother is in the playpen or in his exer-saucer
I'll never forget the time that baby was about 2 months old and Michael told us that his brother kicked him ummm, # 1 he could not even lift his leg that high, # 2 he was asleep in his bassinet Oh what they will do for attention! Glad to hear that hubby won't have to leave you with the girls alone. It's hard. I have been without hubby M-F for about 4 or 5 weeks now. Still have about 2 more weeks like that. Oh, I can't wait for that rental to be done!!! He did a full remodel in one unit and now he's putting in hardwood floors in both units and once that is done he doesn't have to be across the water for work weeks anymore!!!!
So here is my breakfast! Boy was it tasty!

ladies they have done all the food tests and nothing has shown up, but they do not believe that it is caused by anything that I am eating... It is just a condition that I have to live with the best I can. Some days, I just want to give up, and other days I feel like I could lick the whole world...Thanks so much for your concern...

I did well on my eating yesterday and today has been pretty good too.

I bet you will lose weight like crazy now that they have found what the problem is. How many ML are you taking a day? I am taking .75 ml of Armour Thyroid and I am so glad that you are taking it too. That is the only thyroid pill I believe in. I was on synthyroid for years and felt yucky and tired all the time. I finally got my Dr. to change it about a year ago and boy I can tell the difference big time.

Patty I am sorry that your doctor feels as though he/she has exhausted all resources to find out what is causing your itching!
I would probably be asked to see a specialist. Have you seen a specialist - and if so - a second opinion somewhere if THAT specialist says they can't fix it? There has to be someone/something that can help you.
Glad to hear your eating has been good today!!!

Updating my meals for the day:

Lunch:
Made mock danish and one beef hot dog I know what an interesting meal oh and I am drinking half a zip fiz right now in a MONSTER glass of ice water. It has 2 carbs for the whole little tube and I used just half for 1 carb. I wanted at those B vitamins for energy. Dinner will be with hubby since he will be home by dinner time! I'll let him pick!
