Pam - Have to say I second what Angela has to say about soy. I've steered clear of it for a few years now. There are tons of mixed reports, but the bottom line for me is since it's controversial and not that important to me, I stay away from it.

Greek yogurt on the other hand I LOVE! It's yogurt that's made a slightly different way so that it is thicker and much higher in protein and lower in carbs than regular yogurt. It is deliciously creamy. They make it with fruit flavors and honey flavors as well, but I usually just get the plain and add a packet of stevia and eat it with fresh fruit - it's almost like a custard or a pudding to me. Trader Joe's brand is most economical here - but the well known brands are Fage and Oikos and I believe both are available at Walmarts that have cold foods as well. It's quite pricey, but at 24grams of protein in a cup, it's worth it to me. Be sure and check the nutritional data because they're not all the same though.

No cm necessary for me tonight - I feel back in the flow! Energy is good and I'm feeling satisfied.

Have a good night all -

ooooo I love Fage. I have Fage mixed with crushed blueberries and natural coconut flakes every day! Just a few drops of liquid stevia cuts the tanginess and it is AWESOME!

Thanks so much, everyone, for the warm welcome.

A little more about me...
I just turned 43 years old a couple of weeks ago and I live in southwestern Virginia (Blacksburg). My DH and I both work at the local university - me as a graduate program coordinator and him as a laboratory manager. I also have my own virtual assistant business. I have been blessed with the most wonderful son - he will turn 6 years old next month and starts kindergarten next week - he is so stinkin' excited and I am so excited for him.

I am thoroughly enjoying CAD thusfar - I still have to resist the urge to eat as much as I can during my reward meal!! Here's what I ate yesterday:
CM: 2 eggs scrambled with a tiny sprinkle of cheddar cheese, 4 sausage links, coffee
CM: salad (lettuce and cukes) with ranch dressing, 1 can tuna with mayo
RM: 3 slices pizza (1 with italian sausage, pepperoni and onion, 2 plain cheese), salad w/ ranch dressing, 3 pieces choc. candy

E: 60 minute walk
W: ~70 oz

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Howdy everyone!!

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much. It's been a hectic week! I'm off today and I'm enjoying my morning. I'm still doing good with CAD. I'll go back and post my menus for the last few days.

mikesmommy - Feel free to stalk me at any time!!!! I need someone to keep a check on me. Your picture taking is starting to rub off on me. I had sushi for dinner last night and I thought hey this would make a nice picture. The little piece that holds my batteries in on my camera is broken so it takes forever to take a pic. I guess I need a new camera. Good luck with the kitchen remodeling!! Your children are so cute!

I've heard so much about Fage yogurt. I've seen it at the store but haven't bought it. I think I'll pick up some and try it. If you eat it plain is it suitable for a cm?

Well it's not too hot this morning so I'm going to cut my neighbor's grass. She's older and can't do it herself plus I can get some exercise in. Since I'm home for the day I've already started thinking hmmm what can I have for my rm today?? I love CAD!

to everyone. I'm sorry I'm so behind in personals. There's too many posts for me to try and catch up on!

Everyone keep up the good work and I'll make sure to keep up from now on.

Here's a picture from one of my favorite meals. This was something I put together when I started WW. I actually planned on having an online photo album of my favorite ww meals. See we're kindred spirits mikesmommy. I've only taken one picture though. Since I'm following CAD this would be appropriate for an rm.

Edited to add: Sorry the pic is so small. You can click on it and it will make it bigger. I tried attaching the image using the url for the site the pic is on but it didn't work. I had to upload the pic from my computer.

Edited again to add: Ignore the date of the pic. I never set the time. The stupid batteries never stay in so it's always resetting itself. The pic was actually taken a few months ago.

Okay I'm headed outside to cut some grass. This will count as my exercise/activity for today. For my weight watchers tracker I'm supposed to say if my activity is light, moderate or heavy. What do you think? I'm tempted to log it as heavy! It's hard work for a gal to cut grass. That way I can earn 5 actvity points for 30 minutes.

BBL!!!

Hi all! Way to go, Angela!! I know how awesome that must feel for you!! Keep up the good work!

Hi Oraki -- that dish looks delicious!!

Laurie, my girls' names are Lindsey and Lauren --the two "L's" -- but we hadn't planned on sticking with a letter. We just liked both of the names. Isn't it funny how things turn out like that? Lauren (youngest) has some soreness in her mouth today (from the spacers) but she is excited to be getting her braces on next week.

Monica, your little guys are so cute, and I can imagine the belly laugh your baby must be making in the picture! And I know what it's like to live through remodeling projects. We live in an old farm house, and we've been remodeling it and living in it simultaneously for 5 years now. Again -- ! When we bought it, it had been vacant for a few years, and the little old lady that lived here lived in the basement (which is, from floor to ceiling, about 5'10", so my DH has to bend his neck when he goes down there) and she didn't have a kitchen or bathroom on the main floor. Needless to say, we did a lot of improvising as far as the kitchen went, until my DH got the basics in. It's been an adventure, needless to say, but also labor of love! I'll post some pictures of it sometime.

Last night's RM was: baked chicken breast, salad, fried cabbage, 2 French fries, 2 apples, and a milk shake. I just got back from a 30 minute walk, and I'm drinking my usual amount of water.

Gotta run for now....see you later!

Hi, Everyone!

I did a long post yesterday and then lost it just as I was finishing. I was too exasperated with myself to start over.

Oraki - your picture looks so good that I am ready to eat my computer monitor. Which reminds me of something I wrote in my lost post. Earlier this week I noticed that as people in my office building were heating up there lunches and the good smells were floating about, I started to get really, really hungry. My question - do you think you can release insulin just by smelling food? I hope not!

I have been sticking my one RM for the last four days (and my two cups of coffee in the morning with skim milk and stevia). Pretty happy about it. I had mentioned that when I got back from my two week vacation, I didn't want to get on the scale until I had been back on track for a few days. I weighed yesterday - 174. I started CAD on July 8th at 178 and got down to 170 just before vacation. So, I am up but back on track. I am still down 4 pounds - I can live with that!

I haven't really paid a lot of attention to balancing my RM's. Mostly trying to not stuff myself. If my losses stall, I guess I will have to start paying more attention....

DD2 turns 17 tomorrow. We (DD1, DD2, and me) are going to spend the night at a cabin on a river tonight. Both girls are vegan and I just bought the yummiest looking vegan chocolate torte. It is covered with fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries!

Kate

Good Morning - 153.5 holding steady today!

Stephanie - I see that 197 in your signature!!!! So inspiring!

Angela - Kudos to you too

Oraki - Enjoy your day off - how nice of you to mow your neighbors lawn! And good exercise too

I can't remember who asked - but I have used Greek Yogurt for a cm - although it's not on the official list of approved cm foods - I think it's a YMMV (is that the right abbreviation?). I just love it - By the way - I usually use the 2%, even though for traditional low carb it's fine to use the full fat - but I like the high protein that seems to come with the 2% Trader Joe's brand for me. I don't like the 0% flavor -and of course no need to have it.

Okay I have to jam - early work day so I can spend time with a friend who is in town and her 4 little girls this afternoon - I'm really looking forward to it! Beautiful day here in the Bay as well - although you never know when that fog will roll in and the temp drops 30 degrees!

Happy Day to everyone -
OH - my food for today - I have some hard boiled eggs and a cucumber here for a cm if I need it before I go out with my friends - my plan is a restaurant RM with them in the late afternoon so I may need the cm to hold me over and avoid over eating.

I know I cannot do only 1 rm a day. So last 2 days I have tried 1 CM and then 1 RM.
It is almost noon here, but I am really hungry this morning. Don't know if skipping breakfast is going to be a good idea or not.

And skipping the other 2 meals isn't an option. DH would grumble if he knew I didn't eat breakfast..........

DH has been pretty good about trying to eat CAD. He is up .5 lbs since monday morning, but he had a tenderloin with bun yesterday at State Fair, and then we did an "all you can eat" buffet on the way home. I am guessing .5 lb is pretty good in that instance. I only ate CM breakfast and then the buffet last night, and I was up .5 lb also. Skipped Breakfast today to see if that helped with damage control from yesterday.

Angela and Tink - I am so, so, so glad you chimed in about the soy. I have read so many conflicting things about it too and I was really confused. One report says it helps prevent br. cancer and another says it helps cause it. So I am really glad you guys let me know what you know. I am trying to add more vegetarian meals, but I can easily do that without the soy products (beans, lentils, couscous etc etc). And I am not against meat at all, I just buy free range hormone-free stuff. Anyway, thanks lso much ladies.

Tink- I was asking about the greek yogurt. What does YMMV mean? Lol. I will see if I can find some of that greek yogurt!

Angela - congrats on the weight. That is awesome!

Ok, I wanted to respond to you two right away. Now I'm off to read the rest of the posts and will write more later!

Congrats Stephanie on 197!!! You should update your stats in your profile so all can see!!! KUTGW!!

Have you reached your goal or do you have a certain goal number in mind?? We both have close starting weights and I'm just being nosey. My goal is to get under 200 pounds. Everything after 199 is just icing on the cake for me.

It is so good, Kate! In the olden days I loved granola in my yogurt, and I really missed it. One day I saw Bob's Red Mill had a package of natural large coconut flakes (not the itty bitty kind) and I thought "why not?" So I blend 1/2 cup fage, 8 drops liquid stevia, 1/2 cup blended berries and 1/2 cup coconut... so good and filling and healthy! The nutrients in yogurt, berries and coconut are top notch!
