Good Morning everyone -
Felt tons better this morning - I really do believe that I have food sensitivies and although have gone through all of the elimination process - I never have been able to pin point what it or what type of food it is. I just know when things get sloppy, I get bloated and uncomfortable - and I woke up with a nice relaxed belly this morning - it just makes me feel lighter and better all around. Scale settling back down to numbers I'm okay with 155 -above that I don't like! ![]() So having my coffee now since I'm at work early (I'm weaning on to decaf or off of it altogether - haven't decided which yet) - so lunch my RM and later in the eve a cm if I need or want it. Have a great day everyone! - Amy

Good morning,
Well wishes to everyone! I am going out of town and will not be back until tomorrow night so I will get back here as soon as I can. I completed 3 miles of WATP yesterday and had DH workout on the Bowflex with me this morning. I packed my WATP and even remembered my Chromium for tomorrow. My menu for yesterday included: CM: 2 cups of black coffee CM: Shrimp salad w/bacon bits, colby cheese, and ranch RM: Salad w/ranch, chicken sandwich w/cheese, mustard, & mayo on ciabatta bread, and green beans w/vinaigrette I took my chromium and drank plenty of water. |

Amy - kudos for you for weaning off coffee. I have no desire to do that! Although I didn't drink any the whole time I was pg. with the girls. The minute I could drink it again, I got DH to bring me the biggest cup he could find. I was so jittery but it was bliss! lol Glad to hear your tummy is better. I have been amazed at how I have felt since eating organic unprocessed stuff. It's been over a week and I am super regular, have tons of energy and the food is good. I love that I can still eat sweets, I am just making better choices! The COuntry Choice Organic oreo knock-offs are amazing!
Hi Barb - nice to see you! Steph - it's cool here too. We usually have a late summer, into Sept but I can smell Fall now! Not quite ready for that cuz that means I have to go back to teach soon! In fact, the first day of school falls on my 34th birthday this year. Grrrr. There should be some sort of law against that! lol Gotta run to an app. Be back for more personals later! Pam |

I just tried to weasel my way off plan - but I'm here to report that I stayed true! I was feeling like I "needed something" probably because it was a very early morning for me today - so I thought I'd have a little more coffee and not eat until later. Well I already had my coffee with cream, so I said "no way - now that you've started it, get your lunch and eat it!" So now I've had my RM (well still eating my dark chocolate now) - a little earlier than usual, but we'll see how it goes - always can have a cm tonight.
Pam - It's funny - I had been off of coffee for over a year except for an occasional cup here and there. In fact I'd even been off caffeine altogether the bulk of that time. Then a few weeks ago I started having one cup in the middle of the morning here at work because we've started making a pot now that there are a few more people in regularly. I really started enjoying it - but it's not good for me since I'm starting down the baby path now! There are so many mixed reports about whether one cup is okay for conceiving or increase in miscarriage rates, etc that I've decided to get away from it completely - especially since up until a few weeks ago I couldn't care less! Powerful addiction to break though - and I have to admit I do appreciate the little boost it gives me.Have a good day everyone - -Amy |

I completely gave up coffee with my first because the THOUGHT of it was enough to make me want to vomit but with my second one I was so tired in the afternoon towards the end of 2nd trimester (beginning of 3rd trimester) that I would get a sugar free latte here and there. Just make sure you are taking your prenatal vitamins and folic acid ![]() |

Tink - I second what Monica said esp. about the folic. You want to be taking it before you get pg (if you aren't already taking it get some asap). And my doc said the same thing about choosing my fix! I chose chocolate milk or hot chocolate everyday instead of coffee. But one cup is ok when pg. as long as you don't have other forms of caffeine. You are smart to cut it out now! lol
RM tonight was Amy's organic chili (DH loved it and it was totally vegetarian, something he would have shunned if I had told him before he ate it), a few corn chips with guacamole dip, 1 cup cherries, 1/2 cup blueberries, one organic oreo knock-off cookie. I topped it off with a cup of decaf coffee with cream and sugar. Delish! Have a great CAD day everyone! Pam |

Thanks for the tips and support ladies!
Just popped on real quick to report I did just have some pieces of cheese when I arrived home because I felt a bit like I needed a little bit of something. Especially since I take some of my vitamins at night (yes I have all the required pre-natals/folic/EFAs, etc. ) and they make me a bit queasy at times without something in my tummy.Good food day - glad I kept myself on plan earlier! Early night for me - sleep well all - |

Lunch today was a big salad and a low carb entree - the entree was garlic chicken and the vegetable was spinach in parmesan sauce. It was a lean cuisine entree. My son ate 3/4 of the spinach
![]() Dinner was YUMMY! I made a Greek Pita Pizza! ![]() This evening I wanted something SWEET and so I took a glass of ice and packed it to the top of the glass and then filled it with water and a splash of Torani sugar free blueberry syrup and a splash of sugar free torani vanilla syrup! It was HEAVENLY! I need to make a mental note to pick up some heavy cream and some sparkling water to make that into an Italian soda! |

WOW!!! I have spent the past three days pouring over this thread - what a wonderful, supportive group of ladies you are - I hope you have room for one more!!!
![]() Backstory: I low-fatted, low-cal'ed my way to 183 lbs back in the 90's when a colleague at work introduced me to Atkins. Over the following year I lost 65 lbs and was the lowest weight and in the best shape of my adult life!!! Then my husband and I decided to try to have a baby, which was a 4 year process, during which I tried a number of "fertility enhancing" diets and gained about 15 lbs back. When I finally did get PG I was so happy and thrilled that I threw all caution to the wind - I remember weighing in at 212lbs at my last prenatal checkup and just laughing outloud at it - hey, laugh or cry, right? Well, my "baby" will turn 6 next month. I have bounced around in the 145-155 range for the past 3 years and I feel that I am really ready to get these last 15-20 lbs off once and for all. I started CAD on Sunday - I've tried it before, but it didn't work because I was essentially using my RM as a 1 hour BINGE session. This time, I've looked at what you ladies are eating for RMs and, hey, it's just a MEAL - not a "stuff as much food in your face as you possibly can in an hour foodfest!!" ![]() So I started CAD on Sunday at 155lbs. I weighed 152 this morning!!! ![]() Here's what I ate yesterday and I would love your comments. CM: 2 eggs, scrambled and 4 sausage links, coffee w/ HC CM: cheeseburger (no bun), salad (lettuce and cucumbers) w/ ranch dressing RM: 2 chicken croquettes w/ a little veloute sauce on each, about 3/4 cup rice pilaf, 1/2 cup corn, 3 pieces of chocolate candy (Hershey's pot of gold), coke zero I didn't get my usual walk in today because I worked from home, but I did drink about 72 oz water We had a family movie night last night and DH and DS wanted me to make my version of "kettle corn," which I did. They were trying to force feed me popcorn and I kept saying "NO, I can't - my hour's up!!!!!" I think they think I'm nuts!!!Anyhow, happy to be here - it's such a lively thread!!

Hi gals.
Angie. We have similar stories. I gained some weight ten years ago when I was on the medication prednisone. I had about 15 pounds to lose and I tried CAD as I was never one for diets of deprivation. I lost the weight in about 2 months. I went off the diet again when I was pregnant with my twins (they are 2.5). I returned to CAD as soon as I could once they were born. Since finding CAD 10 years ago and losing the med weight I have maintained the same weight the entire time (minus being pregnant). I am 115 pounds and I go up or down wihin a 4 pound range, but that doesn't bother me. I love this woe. I usually do one meal a day, the RM, but if I am hungry I have a CM too. Good luck, you aren't far from goal. This thread is amazing. I love the ladies here!Tink - glad to her you are taking all the meds! lol Most doctors are good about getting women of child-bearing age on their folic, but you never know. We had trouble conceiving initially. We didn't know at the time, but my DH had a blocked vas deferens, which once they discovered it, they cleared. But before we knew that I bought The Infertility Diet (something like that) and I followed it pretty closely. I am not sure if it helped (mind you I did have twins - lol) but it made me feel in control in a situation in which I felt powerless. I can dig it out if you are curious as to what they recommend you eat. Pamela - I am sure you remember my name! lol Actually, sometimes my user name confuses people. EmandM is a play on my twin DD's names (Emma and Madison, Em and M, get it) So online people sometimes confuse my real name (Pam) with the name Em. I love reading your posts. You are so chipper but also, you use some of the same words as my dad, who is from South Africa. I smile every time. For example, you say petrol, not gas, as does he. There are a bunch of others that you share with him. but I can't remember them all now. My dad and I are very close, but he lives 5 hours away and we only see each other every few months or so. I lost my mom when I was 15 so my dad became my everything. Anyway, keep talking! lolMonica - that greek pita pizza looks delish! I think I will be making that soon. That's something I could actually do! lol Cindy - I think you are on vacation, but I will post this just in case. I bought some ginger peach tea and the Braggs is delish in it. I think because they are both spicy. They really complimented each other. I used a touch of stevia and was good to go. I have tried the Braggs in other things and blech! So we have a winner. Also, I read yesterday, that green beans are a legume. That is probably why you were having trouble on them awhile ago. Interesting huh? Ok, time to clean out my car! I will post more later! Pam |

Good Morning Friends! Welcome to our newest CAD/CALPers!!!
Scale is happy I stuck to plan yesterday as well - back down to 153.5 - which just shows how much water retention/inflamation occurs when I eat "whatever" and get sloppy - because we all know, there's no way that was 5 pounds of fat that I put on and took off over the last week! I definitely feel better too. Now, if only I could just remember that the next time I'm at a party reaching for the pretzels and snacking all day long! I have to stop by the market on the way to work for some lunch supplies -I'm out of salad fixings as of yesterday! So I'd best get moving - Have a great day all - -A Last edited by Tinkerloo : 08-13-2008 at 09:13 AM. Reason: bad typing! |

I own way to many diet books. It's a compulsion, so I guess it's off to the library. I'd like to try this. I'm carving candy at work SO badly. I wonder if I can eat beans or LC protein powder. I don't digest meat very well. I maybe could do fish.....

joshsmom2002![]() This is a great group of ladies! Post often so we get to know you and can support you! I'm glad that you take pictures of your food too! I got the idea from some blogs that I saw a while back. I really enjoyed reading/seeing what people were eating! I am a major foodie - I love to cook and bake and so taking pictures is just another fun way to see the results! Plus, I am keeping the pictures and meals together so that I can look back at them in the future and have record of my journey! Tinkerloo- YAY! The scale went down! Also, don't forget some lovely things for your reward meal! EmandM- That's funny about EmandM because my boys are named Matthew and Michael and I call them M&M my Mom and Dad called me and my sister M&M's as well I can hear how much you love your Dad in your post! My Daddy and I are very close too! My parents live just about 20 minutes from me. I am sure it's hard with him living 5 hours away. Oh and you will LOVE the Greek Pita Pizza! I think that is what I am going to have again tonight because it was so wonderful! oraki- I was going to PM you and stalk you until you came back! I was missing your posts! dreamy1 - You said "I am imagining you in a lovely bright coloured kitchen while you are making all these wonderful dishes" SO AM I !!!!!!My kitchen is still gutted! ALL OF MY CABINETS ARE IN THE GARAGE!I have just a fridge/stove - hubby put them back while he's out of town so I have SOMETHING to cook on - and he bought me a microwave at a garage sale a few weeks back since our microwave is the one that goes over the stove but it's been taken down and currently LIVING in my dining room ALONG with the rest of my kitchen in boxes! I even have the SINK in my dining room! ![]() Still doing dishes in the laundry room and then bringing them to my dishwasher as a "resting" place that was on MOVING rollers in my FAMILY ROOM! but it's now ROLLED into the kitchen so it could actually be hooked up since hubby would be gone for so long I have to laugh or I might go crazy! ![]() So, I had some pictures of the kitchen being worked on (well REMOVED) and I am attaching them here! The picture of the cabinets in the garage are the new cabinets that are going in! (they are the light colored ones) I am so excited because two of them are 7 foot pantry style! the dark one is what was removed and the rest of them are in a cabinet cemetery in my backyard! Not exactly the "lawn decoration look" I was going for! Also, when hubby ripped out the kitchen sink area he noticed black mold so he completely ripped out that wall down to stud and pipes! Currently (among the drywall repairs and new sheet-rock) my kitchen is a latte color! You can see the color in the background of the photo of my wee one! I am thinking about doing something different when it gets painted again once the cabinets are going in. I just don't know what color to paint the kitchen! So, the colorful meals are the only colorful thing in the kitchen at the moment! ![]() Breakfast this morning: Turkey bacon, 2 eggs topped with diced vegetables and cucumber slices! Alright ladies - now that I wrote you guys a novel I better get my buttocks in gear and get some stuff done around here! Happy Cad-ing! ![]() Monica ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hi Wendy and welcome. I don't eat a lot of meat and this WOE has been great for me. Beans are only ok for your RM (pick up the book, it's well worth it). You will do best on the first version (CAD) as the latest book (CALP - Carb Addicts Lifespan program) emphasizes dividing your plate into 1/3's with 1/3 being protein, 1/3 low-carb veg and 1/3 higher carb items. CAD is eating whatever you want (within reason, not an all out chocolate binge) in a 60-minute time frame (no more than 60 min, you can take just 20 to eat that's fine). If you are vegetarian, you can eat whatever in the RM (beans etc). Your CM's are atkins-like. I usually stick to only one RM, but when I need a CM I will have cheese or salmon or even a veggie dog (depending on the carb content). So you could work this with being vegetarian.

Hi all!
Oh, Barbara, I'm sorry to hear that! I hope your toe heals quickly!! I've missed seeing you here! Teri #1, have a good trip! Pam, yep, so much for global warming! (LOL) Bummer about having to go back to school on your birthday -- it's coming so quickly (school and fall!) Monica, I'm always inspired by your food pics --YUM! I've never tried the sugar free syrups -- do they have the "chemical" taste like some sugar free things do? If not, I'd be tempted to try them. Let me know!! Pamela, I know what you mean about portion sizes -- I still struggle with that at my RMs. Sometimes I think I need more food than I really do. It's a hard habit to break, I guess. We can do this, though! Welcome, Joshsmom and wendy!! Please feel free to join us here -- I can't say enough wonderful things about this group of people here!!! ~ ~ And like you, Wendy, I own (actually did own --got rid of a lot of them!) a lot of diet books. I would pick them up at yard sales and thrift stores, and I think in some weird way, I'd lose weight just by buying them! Haha!! Welcome to the both of you -- much success to you! Oh, and Joshsmom -- I tried CAD several times, on several different occasions, and like you, I made my one hour RM an all-out FEAST!!! That did not work, and I gave up several times, until March of 2007 when I got serious. You can do this!! We all can!I am back to my signature weight, finally getting that Chinese buffet food off! I agree with Amy about the water weight from eating out (for me!). So far today, I've had my CM of scrambled cheese eggs, and I got my 30 minute walk in. My youngest daughter got her spacers on today for her braces, which are to be put on next Wednesday. ![]() Gotta run for now....be back later, friends! STAY ON YOUR PLANS -- YOU'RE ALL WORTH IT!! ![]()
