Hi everyone!

Lora - welcome. I have trouble keeping on plan on weekends too. I am in maintenance though, so if I slip-up I just get back on and it doesn't affect me much. Maybe you could write your meals down for the weekends initially until it comes second nature. Good luck!

Cindy - I hope your new tweak works. Your RM sounds yummy as always! I am still on the hunt for Braggs. Once I find it I will need some tips on how to drink it! lol

Linda - that pick of the baby took me back too! My DD was 3 pounds and in the NICU for 2.5 weeks. I could fit her in my hand. She is still tiny but very healthy and full of energy.

Mikesmommy - your omelet looks delish! Enjoy that chocolate cake.

Patty - how's the itching today? Are you noticing anything? Did you cut out cheese?

Amy - that's what I love about this woe, if you want two CM"s you can have 'em but still stay on plan!

Steph - 198 is awesome! woo hoo! You are on a roll!

Laurie - Congrats about Melissa! I never watched it but I looked for it. Anyone know if we get Nashville Star in Canada? I love those reality shows.

Sorry to anyone I missed and hi! If you are not on the page when I scroll down, I can't respond as I forget who said what!

I forgot to post my RM for last night: veggie burrito (organic and absolutely delicious)! Carrots, cup of cherries, half cup of blueberries, ice cream sandwhich and 2 cookies (also organic and really good). I am down 2 pounds below my maintenance weight which is crazy! I will have to add more to my RM, as I do not feel that is a good weight for my height. I shouldn't go lower than 115. I am going out for dinner to night so that will help!

Have a great CAD everyone!

Pam

Stephanie - woo hoo! I remember when I asked if you were going to shoot for 199!!!! You inspire me SO much!

Pam - See what happens with all of that processed stuff in our food - you let it go and the weight comes off - that's exactly what happened with my first 12 pounds.

Lora - You'll find your groove - and when you have the book and learn all of the subtleties of the plan, you'll see where the slippery slope can happen with binges and going off plan. I've been dealing with that off and on as well. Right now, I'm focusing on staying on plan to see if I can get things slowly moving downward again or maintaining instead of bouncing up and down like a ball every week. I suddenly look heavier to myself - puffy/chubby and I don't like it - would like to stay more steady than up and down 6 lbs.

What do you think?
I think the broccoli on CM is not recommended, either.......
I know Coxbowen commented on LC on the CMs, but I remember being surprized that broccoli wasn't okay for CMs.

I almost gave in but I stayed STRONG! THAT was close!
So, here is what happened.
Hubby called me with bad news saying his work truck is going to cost $3000 to fix it so he was asking if we should fix it, or do minimum and sell it and then buy a new truck WHICH we can't afford to do right now especially with all of the remodeling we are doing.
So, we agreed fixing the truck for the $3000 would be better than even buying a used truck for his work (since he has already put $9000 into this truck over the last two years) because what if we got a used truck that had even MORE problems etc.
So, that stressed me out, I'm tired from lack of sleep and my wee one said he was done with eating his lunch and wanted his CHOCOLATE CAKE that he didn't eat last night!
So, I gave him a little sliver of a piece and then he said "Mommy where is yours?" I said, I will have some later but let me tell you I WANTED IT RIGHT THEN AND THERE!!!! I WAS SO TEMPTED TO LICK THE KNIFE!!!!
I didn't though and put it away thinking OH MAN I will have to report to you guys that I ATE CAKE!!! not at my RM!!! So, I took out two slices of lean turkey deli meat, two good spoons of cream cheese and one dill pickle spear and cut that in half and made little cigars and cut them up!
Ate that WITH a Diet Rite Tangerine made with Splenda and now I am going to go upstairs and do some laundry to keep my MIND OFF OF THE CAKE that is really only 4-5 hours away from being eaten. I need to keep busy!
Just wanted to report that because of you all and the support I felt like I was going to let my "CAD TEAM" down if I didn't stick to my guns and keep my foods at my CM legal! So, THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Pam so far today I haven't itched. I am thinking about making Chicken and Cheese Casadias (sp) for dinner tonight, so if I start itching, I'll know what it is...

You know I got to thinking and wondering, if you can get poisoned from Hand Sanatizer?
I use that a lot during the day. I haven't used it today either, just in case. Can a person be allergic to Hand Sanitizer?

Patty - I typed that into a search engine and this pulled up -- you could be onto something!
University of Michigan are researching what they call the "hygiene hypothesis," which is the theory that our cleaner lifestyle -- one that includes antibacterial everything -- is leaving kids with more allergies. According to pediatric allergist Marc McMorris, "We've developed a cleanlier lifestyle, and our bodies no longer need to fight germs as much as they did in the past. As a result, the immune system has shifted away from fighting infection to developing more allergic tendencies."

To Laura,
Laura the book says
b low carb
l low carb
d your main meal, with what ever, carbs included. Hope this helps. Fruit for brkst and oatmeal isnt low carb. Its good, but not low carb.

Patty, hand santatizer...ooooh. thats a thought. I m not sure about it being posionous, I know when I use to use it it would dry my hands so badly they cracked.

Mikeysmommy, I just wanted to comment on your truck troubles and the kitchen remodel. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with the added financial stress and I understand! We've had a month or two where it seems everything is breaking. Now my DH is working extra jobs to try to make it up. I hope it all smooths out for you, soon.

Patty, I'm so sorry you're itching. I totally sympathize. My eczema has been on a rampage this whole month and I think I'll go nuts sometimes. I have it mostly on the fingers of my right hand now. I've scratched my little finger so much, it looks like it's been through a meat grinder. Ugh!

I've just read a whole bunch of posts and forget quickly who did what until I read them, so I'll just say that there's a lot going on here! I see some weight loss, some temptations avoided, tweaks tried, adorable babies born, newbie questions, etc. I love this place. You people are so encouraging!

Even though I watch the clock until it's an acceptable time to eat my RM, I manage to follow the rules. Giving up my sweetened drinks has been the hardest thing, but I admit I'm beginning to enjoy the water more, especially since it's been in the 100's for several days. I had bacon/eggs for breakfast, and 0 carb ham/cream cheese and a can of green beans for lunch. For dinner, I'm going to try making my own low-carb chicken nuggets and having some of Linda Sue's Squash Casserole, some pumpkin, and a Hershey's bar for dessert. Oh, and I'll probably have a little salad as well. I gotta' wait a couple more hours, though.

Ya'll have a great day!

Patty,

For what it's worth, the head of the biology department at our hospital said that at his own home he will not have antibacterial soap in the house. He said we're setting up the same conditions on our skin that we've caused by overusage of antibiotics internally, i.e. penicillin for a routine, run-of-the-mill sore throat that now will not work for basic stuff. So, I personally minimize hand sanitizer to times when I'm out of the house and can't get to regular soap, or where I know I've touched something very 'germy'. But, have you seen how hard it is to buy liquid hand soap that isn't antibacterial? I've ended up making my own a few times; it's just not as smooth as the commercial stuff. Sorry about your itching - there are just so many causes that you've just got to be your own health detective.

Shelagh -
Be good to yourself while adjusting to this new job schedule. I often find it takes me a good 4-6 weeks for my body to get used to it - and of course with that comes getting used to new eating times, etc. As soon as you get a little breathing room, do some planning for the days ahead - I stock up and sometimes cook in advance. It's easier then so I don't have to think when I'm so exhausted.

Speaking of which - time to head home from work - so far a good food day - will see if I need more when home - if so it will be a light cm like last night.

Today:

cm - 2 hard boiled eggs
coffee w/cream mid morning
rm - salad w/ cucumber, tomato & chicken breast w/ champagne dressing (mmmm my fave), some granola, banana, bite of cantaloupe & strawberries

More later or tomorrow - ciao CAD friends!
-Amy

Hello everyone,

I jumped right in and started my housework instead of posting this morning. I wanted to get enough done before I had to go to the doctor with DD23 this afternoon.

I will be going to my folks house tomorrow and all three of my kids will be joining me. DD19 was scheduled to work tomorrow so she called one of her co-workers and will work for her on Friday.

I completed the WATP workout and Bowflex is scheduled for tonight.

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: 2 cups of black coffee

CM: (Restaurant) Dry chicken breast and salad w/cilantro dressing

RM: Shrimp salad w/bacon bits, colby cheese, and ranch dressing

I took my chromium and drank plenty of water.

theredhead I sure hope your hubby doesn't have to work extra jobs for long. It's hard for sure when unexpected things pop up.
Hubby and I sometimes feel as though just when we get caught up something major happens and back to having to watch all those pennies!
How did the low carb chicken nuggets turn out? How did you make them?
Cindy - I was so proud that I held off! I actually went upstairs and took a two hour nap with my 3 1/2 year old since the baby fell asleep too. Can't eat cake when I'm sleeping!
Amy I have never had champagne dressing before. Do you make it yourself or what brand is it? I'm always up for trying new things! Keeps salads from getting boring too!
Hoppinn Your menu looks great! I see great minds think alike we both had shrimp tonight! Glad to hear that your daughter has someone to work her shift tomorrow so you guys can all be together!
So, ladies I was so proud of myself and held out on that chocolate cake until reward time!
I took a picture of my meal tonight and I also started a CAD JOURNAL/BLOG and the link is now in my signature line! I hope to post often to it and then have real physical documentation of my CAD journey and also my thoughts, struggles etc. without thread jacking this forum
I think posting pictures on my blog will be fun because I can go back and see when I had good weeks and bad weeks and see what I was eating via pictures!
So for dinner tonight I had a salad with mixed greens, Ranch dressing, 1 oz cheese, yellow pepper rings, black olives - then I had Shrimp and a little cocktail sauce, sweet potato fries and my wonderful piece of chocolate cake.
I made a sugar free iced latte to go along with my cake.
I have a happy tummy now!!!

mikeysmommy That cake looks DELICIOUS!!!!! I love the idea of taking pictures of your food. I started taking pictures when I first started WW but I never kept up with it. You've inspired me to start again. Your dinner looks good!

The ham and cream cheese is a great idea!! I would have never thought of that. I think I'm going to steal that from you.

Giving up my sweetened drinks have been hard for me too. I miss my Diet Mt. Dew. I can't lie about that. The scale is finally moving though so I'll deal with it. I just keep reminding myself that I can have one during my rm. I actually think it has helped because it makes me drink more water. I don't have much choice.

I know we both can do it.

Hope everyone has a great day. Hi to all those who know me and to the others that don't.
Congrats on the loss. I'm glad that I gave CAD another try too. Keep up the good work!

I love having my rm at night too. I do the same thing. I think about what I'm going to have for my rm. Sweet corn sounds like it's worth having your rm at noon. Enjoy!

I laid there thinking - there is no way I could fit cake, meat, vegetables and a beverage for 10 points and be happy about the portion size
Hello to everyone else! I'm off to change a diaper and get another big glass of iced tea! It's going to be 85-90 here today.
Oh and because I am a picture nut - I took a picture of my breakfast today!
It was so yummy!
CM: Omelette - turkey sausage, egg, salsa, spinach * large iced s.f tea
CM: Not sure (probably Chef Salad)
RM: I know CHOCOLATE CAKE WILL BE INVOLVED
Oh my goodness!! You had me laughing out loud. No I guess you wouldn't be able to fit all of that into 10 points. Hey there's always the extra 35. Enjoy your chocolate cake!!! Hmm...now I want cake.

The ham and cream cheese is a great idea!! I would have never thought of that. I think I'm going to steal that from you.
Thanks Oraki!!!
You know I can't take credit for the cream cheese roll ups -
I found out about them when I first joined LCF.
Also, Linda Sue had a recipe with pastrami and dill that were cut into bite sized pieces - here is her link! Her recipes are AWESOME!
