Hi all! Happy belated Mother's Day to all of you moms! Hope you had a wonderful day!

I am up a few pounds due to the supper buffet my DH, girls and my MIL went to last night, but it was delicious and all is well! I know it's temporary and it will come back off. I'm headed to the doctor's today -- I woke up with a swollen eye lid, due to poison ivy, I believe. My face is really itchy, as well as my neck, cheek, shoulder, a few spots on my arms, etc. Geez! I didn't really want to go, but my DH insisted.

I read your posts, and it sounds like you all are doing well. Stay on your plans, friends -- we are all worth it!

Linda, I'm praying for a safe surgery and speedy recovery!

Gotta run for now, but I'll be back later. See ya!

Good morning,

Dressagelover, sorry you are still not feeling well and it goes away real soon. Take care!

Patty, excellent attitude about the weight gain.

Stephanie, it sounds like you had a nice dinner with your family. Sorry to hear about the poison ivy and I hope it clears up real soon. Take care!

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: Large coffee from McDonalds

RM: Salad w/ranch, Prime rib w/au jus, asparagus w/mayo, and 3 chocolate covered strawberries.

I took my chromium and drank my water.

Have a wonderful day!

Stephanie, I've had poison ivy twice where I wasn't even exposed to the plant itself. My husband went hunting and came home with the poison ivy residue on his clothes...when I went to wash his clothes, I got exposed to it! Incidently, HE didn't get the rash.

I'm half-tempted to cancel the appointment, but I'm also afraid to what I'll wake up to tomorrow morning! My DD (16) had one of the worst cases of poison ivy I've ever seen several months ago. She had it on her forearm, and it was really bad -- so bad that I had her to the doctor's 3 times in one week. I hope I don't get that bad, but I guess I had better go, with it affecting my eye.

Shirl, I've read some interesting stuff online about the oils of the plant -- about how potent it is in such miniscule amounts - - it's really incredible!

Thanks, ladies! I just hope I don't have to take any steroids for it -- I would prefer an ointment to put on it.

See ya later! Oh, I wanted to mention that early this morning, we had big snow flakes falling!! Thankfully, it didn't last, but I'm rooting for warmer Spring weather!!

I wrote this in another thread but I wanted to mention my doctor said to eat according to what my sponsor from FA said to do in the first week. I don't have to attend meetings or have a sponsor! Thank God! The only thing that is required is to contact my nutritionist once a week to go over my menu, etc. and go from there.

Turns out I was eating the CAD way after all!

Hi Everyone -
I'm up .5 again this morning - not worried but sure would have loved for it to continue downward till NY trip this Thurs. But, I did have a glass of wine yesterday at lunch so it's possible that is my culprit. I'm looking forward to my RM today - strawberries from the farm (like sweet juicy bites of heaven!) leftover blue cheese burger patties, artichoke and some salad - finishing everything up before I travel. I feel overwhelmed by things I need to get done before I go but I know that it will all get done.

I'm sorry some of you aren't feeling well and ick - Stephanie - poison ivy! I remember growing up with that in NY - out here we have poison oak - fortunately I've never had either. I hope it moves through quickly for you and that your eye especially feels better soon.

Lora - glad your doc is supportive and understanding. Sounds like you are in good hands - and if followed in a balanced way, this plan is certainly healthy so I'm sure your nutritionist will approve. Keep us posted.

Oops - being called back to work - more later - have a good day all!
- Tink

Hi Everyone! I'm back from my surgery and all is well! DS is here so I don't have to be alone today and I've already talked on the phone with DH so he's relieved that all is well.

I'm kind of hungry but will wait a bit longer because I'm not sure what I want to eat. I will be keeping it light and simple. Maybe just a shake.

I've got the ok to start gentle exercise as soon as I feel ready so I may try some time on the indoor bike, carefully, tomorrow.

I'm off to take a nap now....

Hi Patty -
I've been a bit rushed these days with getting ready to go away so I haven't posted lots of personal messages - but I've been cheering you on nonetheless! I'm feeling a little concerned that I will overindulge in NY when with family and friends - but I'm going to do my very best to make good decisions. There are a couple of my favorite foods back there that I always have to have - and hopefully they will all be understanding of trying to keep them within an RM. I think if I explain that I can have one meal of anything I want a day and ideally it's done within an hour (which generally isn't even a problem when eating at home) and any other meals I keep really clean with protein and veg, then hopefully they will all be supportive.

It's the things like stopping at the bakery for Italian pastries on our way home from dinner out or going out for Carvel ice cream in the afternoon that will be an issue. Oh well - I'm sure it will all be fine in the end - because I have all of you to come back to!

Actually, I'll have my computer with me so I'll be in touch regularly while away too!

Have a good afternoon - almost meal time for me - the tummy is grumbly -

oops - not sure what happened to that message - I had separated my message to Patty and the rest of it with a bunch of smileys but I did something wrong apparently. Typing too fast for my own good again -

I also had said "Way To Go MommaPatty" with all of these smileys!

LOL - oh well - hopefully it's all clear anyway!

Hi girls!!

I just had my lunch and it was pizza, the hospital supplied it, it's "hospital week" so tomorrow is ice cream feed, and wed. is cookie day. How nice for them to make it fun for us.

Steph, I've never had posion ivy, I don't even know if we have that here? Good luck with getting it gone!! Benedrayl??

Teri, sounds like a nice meal you had, I just wanted to share with you about Ajus, it's so loaded with salt that you may go up a pound or 3 from it, it did for me, I love the stuff, but I'm so afraid of it... So if you go up, thats why....glutamates!!

I just got back from the doc's and he didn't think I needed to be aspriated, I didn't think so either, but I was hoping, so I can get some swelling down. I'm just too anxoius to get back into my jeans.

Everybody is doing good....keep it up, summer is here!!! Well, not here, where I'm at!!

Gotta go get some things done. I'll see you later.

Tink, enjoy yourself in NY!! I think an axplanation will work just fine!! I did that with my kids and their in-laws and at first they thought I was crazy, but now they are asking about the plan!! So go with your plan firmly tucked under your arm and protect it with all you have!! You'll feel much better about yourself and have a better time to boot!!!

Cindy and Stephanie... I know how you feel about summer not being where you are yet! It's not quite 50 degrees here this afternoon and windy and rainy! YUCK. Stephanie, you're not far from me... please don't send the snow our way! Did you go to the doc about that poison ivy?

Tink, have a good time on your trip!

Patty, I bet you're right about where that weight came from. And, yep, it IS another day!

Linda, hope you feel better soon!

Lora, you will find that the CAD is so freeing. (is that a word?) And it's VERY forgiving. I'm down one of the few pounds that I gained and I know the rest will come off if I'm faithful to the plan.

Shirl, it does seem like as wives and moms we come down with stuff our husbands and kids should get instead! That's SO not fair.

Okay girls, I'm outta here. Both my DD and my DH have strep throat... I'm just praying that
DS and I don't come down with it too. Oh heavens, the last thing I need is to be sick again! The only good thing that can possible come from my DH being sick is that he is not going to work, which means that I can put my foot down and make him get some rest. Then, hopefully I can get some rest, too. My DD is not happy because she is going to have to miss her spring band concert tomorrow night. I know she is disappointed but she is still contagious and really feeling awful (ear infection too!) and her health is so much more important.

So I'll check back in tomorrow. Oh tonight's RM.. chicken fried steak, salad, and broccoli.. YUM.

Oh.. Stephanie.. I have a BIG problem. I made those strawberry dessert squares you were talking about before.. I LOVE them. But the rest of my family didn't like them at all. Since my DH isn't going to work for the next 3 days he can't take them with him... so the only one that would be eating them is me. That is a dilemma for me because I am kind of afraid of them, I like them so much! I hate to throw them away because the cost of food is so ridiculously high... Do you think they would freeze okay if I cut the rest of the pan into single servings, wrapped them up and froze them?

Hi all! Dana, I'm not sure if they would freeze well or not?? But I agree with you, with the price of food lately, I hate to waste anything, so I'd definitely give it a try! The only thing I can think of is that when you thawed them, they might get a bit mushy because of the strawberries. Sorry to hear that your family is sick again -- I'm sending healing thoughts your way! And I promise not to send the snowflakes your way -- they didn't last long, but they were still snowflakes for May 12th! It's supposed to be sunny tomorrow and in the low 70's, so I'm planning on getting outside!

Linda, I'm so glad that your surgery went well!

Cindy, here is the link to the strawberry bars Dana is talking about: Strawberries and Cream Dessert Squares from Betty Crocker How are you doing? I'm sorry to hear that you missed your son, but hopefully you got to get a tape of it!

Tink, I hope you enjoy your trip! I love the way you described the strawberries -- you have a way with words!

OK, I went to the doctor, and actually saw the physician's assistant, who said it looks like poison ivy. He gave me a prescription for low-dose steroids, so I'll have to get that filled. It's really itchy, and it's scaly and starting to "weep." Sorry to be so descriptive and gross, but if you've ever had poison ivy, you know what I mean. I really didn't want to have to take steroids, so I'll see how it is tomorrow, but I believe I'll end up taking them.

I walked for 45 minutes this morning at the mall, and here's what I had today: Lunch (CM): 1/3 of an English cucumber, some cheese slices, and 1 hard boiled egg, Supper (RM): chicken salad, a tossed salad with cucumber, Romaine lettuce, a few croutons, and thousand island dressing, a piece of teriyaki pork, a milk shake, and an apple. I got all of my water in too.

Have a great evening, all. I'm off to scratch, er, I mean tidy up my kitchen! Talk to you all later....stay on your plans!

Hi all! I walked 5 miles today! RM was lunch only today and I had lg. pc. of watermelon, small tenderloin, med. salad with ranch, 24 oz. Pepsi and 5 Snickers ice cream bars!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be fine until tomorrow but I won't get to eat until about 8 p.m. tomorrow night. I can hang on even though it will be well over 24 hours. It is always worth the wait!!!!

HI Cindy! Yes, I'm still around...always keeping up with CAD. I'm going on induction for a few days (started today) because I've put on some more lbs. I'm 139 and not happy about that! This weekend, we're going on a bus trip to the Twin Cities to see a couple of plays. There will be all kinds of candy and other sweets on the bus, so I will have to bring my own stuff along so I don't get tempted!

I have been doing reward meals sometimes just for special occasions. I love that I can do that once in a while without it throwing me way off track. I am able to eat low carb the rest of the time without major cravings.

I remember going on Prednisone in 2000 when I got poison ivy. We were going on a trip to Norway the day after I saw the doctor. That's the only time I've been on it, though.

Hi Everyone -
Hope you all had a good day! My RM was nice and clean - and I somehow feel lighter this evening - I wonder if the scale will reflect that tomorrow?! We'll see. I drank lots of water which I didn't really do over the weekend so it could just be that - it also makes such a big difference for my "regularity" which for a change is doing really well with this program - yet another benefit.

Catch you all again tomorrow!
-Tink
