Good morning,
DS is feeling a bit better this morning. Hopefully these antibiotics will take care of the problem. Thank you all for your concern! Laurie, you have a lovely family! How exciting it must have been to enjoy playing your music on television. I am looking forward to watching the show. Shelagh, just stay on plan and you will see results. You can do it! karen, you are doing very well. KUTGW! Jeni, my kids are now too old for 4-H but we went to the fair every year with animals while they were growing up. I remember trying to stick to a diet while attending the fair and know exactly what you are talking about. Good for you for including your goodies with your RM. Angela, how wonderful for you to feel satisfied with all the delicious food you were around. You are well on your way, KUTGW! Pamela, I do not weigh everyday or even once a week because I have decided I need to eat this way no matter what. I will admit I am excited to take my measurements and weigh in once a month because the results have always been positive. karen, our fair just closed last night too. I hope you have discovered that CAD does work better than Atkins since there are so many temptations at the fair. Good luck to your kids at State Fair! DH and I completed our Bowflex workout last night and today is WATP. My menu for yesterday included: CM: 2 cups of black coffee CM: Pork chop and green beans w/vinaigrette RM: Salad w/ranch, rib eye steak, broccoli, and a Haagen Dasz chocolate ice cream bar I took my chromium and drank plenty of water. Hi all! Shelagh, I'm here, I'm here!
I was so busy this weekend, that it's hard for me to post as often as I'd like. With weather like this, I'm outside for as long as possible! I'm trying to catch up with my housework today, before hitting the pool! Oh, to answer your question, Shelagh, about why I eat the no sugar-added ice cream -- I eat it because of the lower carb count and it tastes pretty good too! I eat our local grocery store's brand, and it has (per serving) 18 carbs, 5 fiber, and 9 sugar alcohol. I don't think the Hellers talk about "net carbs" like other low carb diets, but I've taken it upon myself to use that philosophy when it comes to my RM. It's working, so I can't complain! I am fussy about the taste of artificial sweeteners, but I have to say that this particular ice cream tastes really good (I guess so, or I wouldn't waste my time eating it!) Sorry to hear that you're having pain in your legs, Shelagh. I can't answer you about the meds, as I don't take anything like that on a daily basis. I hope you get relief, friend!! ![]() Well, I am up a couple of pounds due to having lunch on Saturday at the Chinese buffet. This happens every time I eat there, and it takes several days for the weight to come back off. That food has to be loaded with glutamates, sugar, salt, etc. Hi to all of you new folks -- Andrea (welcome back!) and Paul -- much success to both of you!! Post often so we all can get to know you! And I hope you find as much comraderie and support here as I do!! LOVE THIS BOARD!! ~ ~Linda, your pool and company looks like a blast!! And what beautiful families you both have, Laurie and Kate!! And such lovely ladies you are, too! Pamela, I love the quote you posted by Rachel Heller! I often use that quote as well -- so true!! As long as we're trying, we're succeeding!!! Teri, I hope your son feels better soon! OK, gotta run for now......Stay on your plans, my friends!! Be back later....

Cindy, Cindy Cindy How beautiful and tiny you are in your pictures. I hope some day that I will be at the same weight...
Having all this company is really messing my weight up, but that is ok for now. I am hard back at it tomorrow. All that food made me sick. My Henry took me off of fire fox when we changed my fire fox to Microsoft and now I don't have auto spell check, so you ladies will just have to put up with the mispelled words. ha, ha... |

hola peeps
Hello all, how's this Monday going for everyone?
Someone had mentioned taking pain meds and if that will have any negative reactions or stalling, if anyone has any experience I would like to know what their experiences have been. Last night I had to take some Benadryl too, I ususally try to avoid it but my ears have been bothering me from allergies. So now that I'm finding my way on this WOE and learning what works best for me, with all your guys help... and I know that one cm and one rm is best, how to eat clean cm's and all... what about all that stuff in the book that says what to do if you aren't losing like the different plans, plan A, B C etc.. I'm assuming that they aren't really relevant, and if you want to jumstart your loss, you can decrease your cm's or carefully look at what you're eating because it could be salt, or some underlying reaon. What are your thoughts on that? Stephanie- as usual you are an inspiration to me, keep it going girl! Paul- Welcome to the thread, you will do amazingly! Mel- Careful with the spider bite, I know those can really get out of control, I was bitten once and had to go to the ER for anti-venom treatment. Drink extra water to remove toxins. Angela, I knoticed that we started at the same time/from the same point and you and I are doing well, we can use each other as a comparison! =) Teri- I appreciate your meal updates, it reminds me to eat cleam cm's and drink my water thanks. As usual many thanks to all for their support, you guys are awesome, glad to be here with you all! Lara |

Hi everyone....
It's been busy at work, thats why I'm late. I just finnished my lunch and had ...chicken, salad, green beans, cornbread, cake, cookies(2), ice cream, drink...I think I am having portion creep again...I'm sooo full!! It better be the salad.... ![]() I am taking pain meds...I had back surgery in 2000 and I have to take both ibuprofen(sp) and vicodin, it hasn't stalled me, but the extra Ibuprofen can put on the water weight, just know that it comes off in a day or two, I have been taking stuff the whole time and still losing. Hope this helps you deciding. I am losing again...have gotten 3.5 pounds off this week, so only 3 more to go, then onto new numbers....ya, I keep saying that!! ![]() I'm going home early today, I had to come in late last night for work and now I don't feel all that well, kinda hurt my tummy abit....it's a good reason to go home anyway!! I am going home, I just found out I only have tomorrow off, because my partner is going on vacation for a week!!! I thought that was next week!!! See you all later!!!

Lara,
!I have just recently jumpstarted my loss BIG TIME after a year of "attempting yet maintaining or gaining." I did it by measuring every little thing that I eat or drink, sticking to a calorie limit, and moving moving moving as much as I can. I've lost 6.5 pounds in the last 8 days. That's more than I've lost all year. It finally just clicked that if I want to get anywhere, I need to knuckle down and pay serious attention to my menu and get out there and burn as many calories as I can, doing anything. I've been keeping my calories in the 1800's and walking my dog, swimming laps, or using my dusty old stationary bike. It's not easy, because I'm inherently lazy. It's getting better and less of a chore now, I'm actually looking forward to the walks instead of dreading getting off the couch. It helps that my dog gives me sad puppy eyes and barks at his leash.

Way to go, Cindy! I know that if you put your mind to it, you'll get the rest of the weight off soon.
Angela, it's so good to see you enjoying some success again. I'm fired up and I think we're going to make some progress here. I think I'm on my 4th day back on CALP and doing just fine. I ate a bit of a cauliflower casserole for brunch and then we just ate a big RM around 3:00. We're leaving to play a gig around dinnertime and I didn't want it to mess me up. I had salad with ranch, a big pork chop, more cauli/cheese casserole, one oatmeal cookie and a Hershey's w/Almonds candy bar. Oh, my! It was so good. I haven't eaten one of those in five years. But it's great to feel in control and to know that I can have one every day if I want. I just have to stick with the rules of the plan. It definitely gets easier as the days go by. If I'm hungry when I get home, maybe I'll eat an egg. I'll probably be too tired to care, though, and I'm pleasantly full right now. My new mantra is, "Are you going to let ____fill in the blank w/ whatever food or drink____ keep you from reaching your goal?" Have a great day! ![]()

Hi again!
Just finished my RM, and here's what I had: fried cabbage, freshly picked green beans from my garden (seasoned with butter and a bit of dill), some chicken (I made a dish in the crockpot, using boneless, skinless chicken breast, peppers, onions, tomato paste, a bit of brown sugar, and vinegar), a piece of chocolate chip zucchini cake (I made it the other day, and froze most for company coming this weekend) and a milk shake. I walked for 30 minutes today, and got all of my water in. Lara, thanks for that! ![]() Cindy, I'm so glad the scale is moving again for you!! Keep up the good work! Angela, that's an awesome loss!! KUTGW! Hi Patty! Hang in there - you'll be right back on track! Gotta go....see you all later. |

Hi Everyone!
It took me over an hour to catch up on posts since my last posting on Thursday! I'm up to 155.5 as of this morning - had the dreaded but delicious Chinese Buffet this weekend as well as a glass of wine each day and really wasn't on plan anyway - I'm sure my insulin was all over the place. I realized that I went astray a couple of weeks ago when I got very rigid with myself and wanted to get into the 140's quickly. I just got too restrictive - so when I bent a little, I opened the floodgates - so silly. So I'm backing off of restricting too much - I'm going to get a good week of following CAD properly back under my belt - allowing treats during my RM and see where I am. Clearly I know I am able to maintain within a few pound window on this WOE - and when I go off for vacation, it brings me right back down again when I'm back. That is great - but the key is losing this remaining 20-30 pounds! 10 of which is supposed to be ideally coming off before having a baby (only to be put back on I'm at the point of not pushing anymore - all it does it stress me out. So I'm going to stay on CAD - clean CM's when needed and a healthy RM - and it would be good to get myself moving - I think that's really a big thing that's missing for me as much as I hate it. But it's something I can do - I need to get over my laziness. ![]() So that's me for now - onto the personals - Amy

Hi everyone! We are back from Niagara Falls. We had a fantastic weekend. The girls enjoyed every minute of it. They have been talking non-stop about the dolphins that went upside down (Marineland show) and the "roller coaster" they went on. It wasn't much of a roller coaster considering they are only two-and-a-half, but it was a roller coaster to them! I am so happy we had such an amazing time! I was way off plan as I knew I would have to be. These people eat non-stop! I ate at every meal to be polite, but I said no to snacks! I seriously couldn't imagine eating as much as they do in a day! lol Anyway, I learned a couple of things I thought I would share:
1) I have learned I can only eat when I am hungry. If I eat when I am not hungry, my body doesn't tell me when to stop, since it doesn't understand why I ate to begin with. So it's easier to overeat if I eat when I'm not hungry. 2) CAD so definately works for me. When I was off plan and grazing, I wanted to eat all day (even if not hungry). It was insane. So I am happy to get back on plan tomorrow with my one RM meal a day! Cindy - we are both back on plan tomorrow. Let's be cheerleaders to each other! I too felt sick with all the food and I just didn't feel good! I will NOT be weighing myself tomorrow. I can tell by how my body looks and how my clothes fit that I put on a few this weekend! It was fun though! Shelagh - I hope you get the job! Best of luck during the interview! Cindy - congrats on the weight loss! How are you feeling? Is your tummy better? Steph - your RM sounds delish as usual! I think I will have to try out your chicken recipe! Angela - congrats on your sucess! Sounds like keeping track of your input/output is really working for you! I have to catch up on the other posts. I only read one page. I will read and do more personals later! Hi to the new people. Post often so we can get to know you! Pam |

Lara - I used to take Midrin also and it worked for my lighter migraines and wasn't too strong. I hate that they took it away! Of course it was generic and inexpensive too - unlike the $25 a pill Relpax or Maxalt that they prescribed instead for the bigger ones - and neither work consistently. I now use a pill that my cousins brought me from England called Migraleve. It's over the counter and has worked just great on light and heavy headaches with and without aura. I've landed at ER many times with migraines, so this is a blessing for me.
Pam - Are you home from Niagara yet? Hope you had a wonderful time Cindy - Your pic is great! You look fabulous - it's such a pleasure being able to see where you were and where you are - thanks for sharing with us - you and Stephanie keep me so inspired! Shelagh - thanks for the quote by Rachel Heller - I love it! As I mentioned above - I got tempted away trying to "get this weight off quickly" and it sent me on a slight bender - no major damage, but I felt out of control. CAD is slow but as we can see - it does work. Teri - I hope your son is back in action. I had terrible throat issues for years - including what he's going through and having my uvula swell up so much (the little dangly thing in the back) that it was lying on my tongue and choking me. Disgusting and so miserable. BeccaNancy - how are you doing? You were on medifast before this right? Isn't that extremely low-carb and low-calorie? It makes perfect sense that your metabolism is having to readjust. You may need to ease yourself into the heavier carbs that you haven't been having and keep it clean for awhile. Hang in there though - you don't want to confuse your body anymore - Cindy is right, it will balance out Laurie - I finally got to watch Nashville Star last night and I CRIED when Melissa sang her original song! She is really really good and I hope she wins or at the very least has some doors open for her as a result. She is really pretty too! I'm glad you got to perform with her and enjoyed the experience and seeing her again. I'm going to watch tonight and vote for sure on both of my phone lines!!! Angela - Sounds like you're finding your way again as well. Are you still making dresses? Mel - Black Widows! I remember them when I lived down in So. Cal - they creeped me out. Shoes girl! You may want to check out the cookbook Jerry Seinfeld's wife put out about sneaking healthier foods into kid-friendly food by using pureed veggies and fruits - I know i have a friend who swears by it. I know I haven't mentioned everyone - Pamela, Linda, Karen, Patty, Jeni, and everyone else - but I will get back in the swing over the next couple of days. Have a great on plan eve everyone! - Amy |

Hi To all
I was doing atkins, and there fore was afraid to attempt this wol. But I had to do something because of the cravings. Well found this book in my church library. I am half way thru it. I think I ate too much for dinner. Did good brkst and lunch. Dinner was meatloaf, potatoes, string beans, unsweet applesauce and a wasa crisp with butter. Tapioca for dessert. It took me thirty min. to eat. It was really hard for me to do without snacks today and only eat three meals. I pray this part gets better. My weigh in is 150. All I did all weekend was splurge. I have gone all day tho without any sweetener and very little added salt. Hope this also helps. Reading thru the forum. Nice to meet yall. Oh what does everyone drink? I gave up sweeteners so now my tea and coffee is plain, yuck.

Welcome, Sheila! It will get easier, I promise. It takes some time to get use to the timing and the balancing and the "no grazing." I was the SNACK QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE, and this diet seriously broke that habit. Once you get the rhythm of eating only 3 or 4 times a day, the snackiness disappears because of the insulin regulation. I would recommend really thinking about the timing of your meals, and making sure you eat enough food to carry you to the next meal. My trouble time is afternoon, so I eat lunch around 1-2, snack at 3-4 and dinner at 6-7. I'm fine in the morning, so I hold off on breakfast as long as possible.
Snackiness is also caused by artificial sweeteners and free glutamates like MSG and all it's evil pseudonyms. Make sure the food you are eating doesn't have any of that to give yourself the best chance to succeed. Also, just from experience: Keep it simple, keep it balanced. Some of these girls really have some crazy RMs that work for them, but since you are just starting it would be best to keep it simple and go 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 of a plate for your RM. You are allowed a single snack during the day, it's the same as a CM, just smaller. My usual mid-afternoon snack is a 2 oz hunk of cheese and a handful of fresh string beans. It gets me through to dinner without being starving or having the munchies. I think you will do just fine-- look at all the weight you have already lost! That is fantastic! As far as drinks, I drink water, sparkling water, coffee and tea. I have never been a "sweet drink" person, so I don't need any sweeteners there. Have you tried your coffee with a little cream? It really cuts the bitterness and makes coffee tastes like it smells.... so good! Also, stevia is a wonderful sweetener that causes no munchies... not artificial! My sister uses that in her coffee when she's here and I've heard no complaints. Post often and let us get to know you! |
