Iakaren - do you "only" have 20 pounds to lose? I have trouble deciphering the stats under people's avatar's, so let me know if I have it wrong. I only had 15 to lose when I first started CAD in 1998 so a slower loss didn't bother me. I can't remember exactly, but I think it took 2-3 months to lose the 15 pounds (could have been less, but it definately wasn't weeks). But I lost it and have maintained that loss for ten years (minus when I was pregnant, obviously). What I loved (and still love) about CAD is I can eat whatever I want once a day. I don't find it restrictive at all, and I don't have cravings. So if you are happy with this woe, and enjoy your RM, you will lose the weight, but it may not be as fast as doing Atkins, which I have never tried, but seems to be quite restrictive. I hope this helps. I think I was in a good headspace when I started CAD, and I was just enjoying the woe, so I wasn't as concerned about the slower weight loss, but I did lose, and I have maintained it for years (I am 5'5" and weigh 115 pounds). I think people who don't have as much to lose tend to lose slower than someone with more weight. Does that make sense?

Hi, everyone! Happy Tuesday!
Well, the elimination of the tuna from my salads (the tuna from the salad bar with the honey in it) and the elimination of the artifical sweeteners is working! I was down a pound yesterday and another pound today. And, the most amazing thing yesterday was that I wasn't hungry all day. I know the book talks about sugar & carbs triggering cravings but I didn't relate that to being hungry. I wasn't craving anything - I just felt hungry. So, I am a happy camper (for today! ).Everyone get their mammograms!!!! I just found out over the weekend that a dear friend from junior high and high school died this month - she had breast cancer. She was only 50 and leaves behind an 11 yr old DS and 14 yr old DD. Just breaks my heart! Patty - I have half a mind to go over to whatever that other thread is and give those people a piece of my mind! You stay over here now - no straying! And, CONGRATS on the losses!Everyone else - have a great CAD day. Thanks for all of the input yesterday. Kate |

Hi Everyone -
Apparently it's time to schedule my mammogram - I keep "forgetting" - and I was supposed to go a few months ago. I promise I'll do it in the next few weeks! I've already had a couple in the past so this is not my first one - my friends and I call them "the boob squish" - just to try to make light of it - certainly not the most comfortable thing, but not painful either (at least for me - and I'm not small). So yes, I will definitely schedule. And yes, I know I'm lucky with only a 2-3 day tom - my friends all remind me of that as well! It's just always been that way - Hope everyone is having a good day - I have not been on plan today at all - decided to enjoy a chinese luncheon with colleagues - not what I intended, but I'm okay with it - I feel all whacked out this cycle of tom - back on track in the next couple of days for sure - I'm okay with that - yet another great thing with CAD -I know I won't stray for long. -Amy

Boy, it's been a busy day here at work! I had soup and sandwich, pinapple, potato salad, fruit salad, brownie, ice cream. It was bites of all, but I was darn full when I got done. I haven't had time to read all the posts, so I'll just say hi and come back when I can.

Hi all! Here's my menu for the day: Lunch (CM): egg salad and a cheese/lunch meat roll-up, Supper (RM): grilled steak, baked zucchini, a big portion of Italian pole beans, a big bowl of fresh strawberries and blueberries, and a milk shake. I walked for 30 minutes today, and met my water quota.
Lara, that was me that said that tuna makes me stall. I believe it has something to do with a form of MSG in the ingredients. The Hellers go into detail about MSG and cravings and stalling, so I try to eat clean CMs. I love tuna salad, but like I said, I save it for my RMs. But it may not affect you (hoping it doesn't). Best wishes! Pamela, that's wonderful!! Congratulations on a fantastic loss!!! ![]() Way to go, Kate! Keep up the good work! ![]() Hi Cindy! OK, gotta run for now....dishes are caling me!

Hi ladies.
I had a CALP RM tonight! It wasn't on purpose, it just worked out that way! I had teriyaki beef with veggies (sprouts, cabbage, peppers, broccoli) and chocolate brownie fudge frozen yogurt. Oh, and half of the cookie my DD's didn't finish! Yum. I worried it wasn't enough food to keep me going until tomorrow's dinner, but I still feel pretty full hours later so we shall see! I totally agree about getting mammograms. I am only 33 and I have had 3 already and an MRI. My mom died of breast cancer when she was only 42 (I was 15). My aunt died from it at 30 (I was 4) and other members of my family have had it, but all post-menopausal. I was tested for the BRCA1 & 2 mutations, and I tested negative than goodness, but there is enough in my family history for my doc to test me very thoroughly. Breast cancer does not have to be a death sentence and early detection is so key to survival rates. Kate - my heart breaks for what your friend's family is going through. My sister was 10 when we lost my mom and it changed our lives forever. There isn't a day that goes by without me thinking of her and I still feel a punch in the stomach over the loss. I don't think that void will ever be filled even if I were to put a grain of sand in it every day for the rest of my life. Pamela - congrats on the woosh! That is awesome! Tink - boob squish - that is hilarious! I am an A cup, so the mammograms are particularly painful as there is not much to squish, but definately worth it! I would much rather have a mammo over an MRI though, those things are awful! Steph - your RM sounds delish. What are you reading right now? I started The Other Boleyn Girl and I can't put it down. It's riveting! Cindy - I read about the cla/gla on the vitamins thread. It sounded a bit confusing about the amounts though. How much do you take of each? I am not good at math! lol Lara - I just realized you are Lara, not Laura! Sorry! I think some tunas might be ok, or some people might not react negatively. If you stall, try eliminating it and see what happens. Patty - you are the wonderful one! right back at ya!Well ladies, I found a fab bathing suit! I will take some pics when we are at Niagara Falls. I went to Bikini Village and then got so overwhelmed because there are so many in that store. So I just asked the store employee to recommend some (I gave her some ideas of what I like and don't like). She chose a tankini in dark brown and pink (I love that colour combo) and a halter full piece in black. I went with the full piece halter. It's really cute and I am excited to wear something other than my regular sporty bathing suit that I have had for years! lol I also ran today for 30 minutes. I really didn't feel like running, but I played the same mind game with myself I always do in those situations. I promised myself to just try 5 minutes and if I want to stop I can. Of course I continued and I felt terrific after! Have a great CAD-day! Pam |

Hi everybody! It's so nice to see you all, and so nice to meet everyone that I haven't met yet!
Stephanie - you look wonderful! I have zucchini and green beans coming in too, and we pick fresh strawberries every couple of days. The tomatoes that we planted upside down are doing great, too. I counted 10 of them growing today!! Waa-hoo!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of myself girls.. my weight has not changed for awhile, neither up nor down. That is good because I have been the Webster's dictionary girl for stress eating . We are going to have to move in the next couple of months (long story, just pray for us) and it's going to be rough. We went to NC over the weekend, that's one possibility, the other place that we are looking at is Minnesota. I always thought that if we left here, we would go back home to TX but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. The best part of having to move though, is, I will be able to keep my WAH job. As long as I have high speed internet and a phone then I'm good! I have been using my Wii Fit every day, and today I took about an hour's walk outside with my son. I'd better get back to work now.. I will be back when I can. Y'all take good care!

MAJOR LCF POSTER!

Hello Everyone
![]() Just a super quick check in and then I will hopefully get to read through all of the posts later this evening. Today I had breakfast and lunch around 12:30 - decided to have my RM at lunch time and do a low carb CM meal at dinner. I had an iced sugar free latte and one baked steak and cheese chimichanga, about 3 cups of assorted lettuce leaves, jumbo shrimp on top, 1 tbsp. parmesan sprinkles and Ranch dressing! VERY tasty! I took a picture because my camera was right next to me on the table so I am sharing my meal with you all ![]() Oh and ALSO, when I left to go and get my sugar free latte this morning I noticed that someone left us a "present" on the street sign!!! A pair of Boxer shorts! Took a picture of THAT too! Dinner tonight will probably be a salmon burger and more salad or green beans. I feel like I MIGHT be coming down with a cold. Hopefully not and hopefully it's just allergies. ![]() ![]() Monica ![]() ![]() Last edited by mikeysmommy33 : 07-22-2008 at 06:02 PM. Reason: Adding another pic |

Okay, food for today:
CM: fried eggs; salad w/ranch dressing RM: tuna, mayo, 1.5 cups lettuce, onion 2 servings LC cole slaw 1/2 deviled egg brownie Splenda iced decaf latte I ate my CM and RM really close together today. We didn't get home from the doctor's until 3:30. I considered waiting and just having my RM, but by then I was starving. So I ate at 3:45. Then I had my RM starting at 6:15.Was that too close together? I don't have my CAD book any more and I don't remember the data on how long it takes for the insulin to cycle out, etc.

Oh ladies we had such a marvelous time at our neighbors. I didn't get to do the 1 hr. thing tonight, but I am ok with that. It was a Birthday Party for their friend in from around Mexico. The food was scrumptious and I did not overeat... I will be back on plan tomorrow. I even had a couple glasses of fruit juice with a wine in them. Very good drink, and it is so good for you.
You guys have a wonderful evening. See ya tomorrow Lord willing and the creek don't rise... |

Patty, I am so glad you had a great time last night!!!
Pamela, you are so much fun to read! You're funny and full of energy...I wish we could hang out and have coffee! Well, I'm down another smidge today, to 166.8. Wow, yay! I wish I could enjoy it but I feel sick...very sore throat. Ugh. I have a question I hope someone can answer...I never drink diet soda (outside of an RM) because I know the flavor can make me crave. Does anyone know the Hellers' stance on flavored coffee? I know the carbs in this particular coffee are negligible/nonexistent (it's vanilla macadamia nut) but does anyone know about whether the flavor might set off cravings? It doesn't taste sugary, of course...but it does have a flavor. Thanks! Hope everybody is having a good morning! |
