Good morning, everyone! I am still busy reading all of your posts! Welcome, again, to all of you new ladies!! And "way to go" to all of you "losers!" I'm sorry I can't reply to all of you personally, but I'd like to!

We had a wonderful vacation! We camped at Delaware Seashore State Park, and we were 400 yards from the ocean! I'm going to post some pictures as soon as I get them loaded into the computer. Loved, loved, loved the vacation, but I am glad to be home!

I stayed on plan 100%, and I walked every day, around the campground and of course to the beach. I did eat more than usual at my RMs, but hey, it was vacation! When I weighed myself the morning after we got back, I was only up 5 pounds from when I left. Yesterday, I was 201.5, so I'm back down again. Oh, and I saw 199 on the day that I left!! This plan is really the best of both worlds!

I loved all of your pictures that you all shared! It's nice putting faces to the people you talk with!

It's going to be another hot, sunny day here (YAY!) so I'll be outside all day! Have a great Sunday, and I'll see you all later! Stay on your plans!

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going. ~Jim Ryun

Good Morning I hope all you have a wonderful Sunday. My weight was the same this morning but I had to take so many drugs yesterday, that I know that messed with my weight.

Cindy what, if I take the Coconut pill with my RM? Do you think that will keep my stomach from being upset? I don't take any other supplements, so maybe I can do that.

I am going off of caffeine today. I think the coffee is messing with my stomach so I am going cold turkey. Of course Rachel said not to drink it because it will make your insulin spike. I am drinking water only...

I had to eat a CM this morning. I will probably be doing that until my stomach gets back in shape. When I have those flairs my stomach gets really irritated.

Oooh, cold turkey off of caffeine - Patty you are braver than I am. And I think you drink several cups of coffee a day don't you? I get awful headaches when I wean myself off of the 1-2 cups a day I used to drink. Just incase you find yourself aching, what always helped me was a diluted cup of coffee or a cup of tea (less caffeine in tea) so that I could cut the edge of the headache just a bit. Good luck - I know coffee can definitely irritate tummy issues and acid.

I don't see my long personal post that I made yesterday to everyone! I wonder if it didn't go through properly? I hate when that happens - I had been on the computer so long already I didn't check, just hit submit and logged off so I wouldn't get sucked back in! I can spend hours on this site!

I'll see if I can duplicate most of it -

oh - I'm up a bit today to 152, no surprise to me as I had an RM of different foods than I've been eating all week - big salad, chicken with lots of skin, banana, grapes and some dark chocolate. Nothing wrong with any of it, but since I had a pretty restricted high protein week I'm sure I'm now retaining water from more carbs - and TOM should be here in a couple of days as well so between the two...

Hey, Patty...when I feel I need to, I have a second CM (normally one CM). Do what you need to do...what your body is asking you to do. I hope you feel better. Huggles girlie.

Here's what I had posted yesterday - I made a list of notes since there are so many of us now I have to keep track So it shouldn't be hard to repeat -

Patty - I think if you can eat as cleanly as possible if you have to have breakfast & lunch - make them your cm's and then eat a normal rm as your main meal with your guests, you should do well.

Teri - That seafood salad sounds so yummy! Your meals always inspire me to be clean with my eating.

Lucy - I was wondering about you - glad you're doing well. I find it slower loss, but I'm enjoying myself in the process, can't beat that!

Pam - I went to Niagara Falls as a little girl with my mom and Aunt who was visiting from England - I still remember it - going behind the falls was amazing! And wearing the funny raincoats was hysterical with my mother with her fancy hairdo like they had in those days, getting all wet

Kate - I would suspect the tea with sweetener as well as the potential culprit - you could be one of those people whose body releases insulin from anything sweet, even if it's from AS. Maybe try a week or two without -or only having at your rm and see what happens.

Laurie - I hope you'll still hang out! And the kitchen looks great! What a nice gift.

mom2cgpd - yes this will be my first pregnancy - I never thought it would be this late in life - I always wanted to start young and have lots of children like you, but this is the way it's gone! I still hope to have one biologically and potentially adopt or foster others.

eok2008 - Have fun on your vacation!

Linda - Enjoy that pool!

Karen - How was the ice cream feast? I just finished a 1/2 gal of Breyer's mint chip (my fave) - it was amazing to me that I had it in the house during a "diet" and I ate it over several weeks as I wanted it - no bingeing, feeling guilty or needing to throw it away to "get it away from me". I love this woe!

Mel - I'm so glad you're here - I love your posts and hearing about your family. Would I know any of your writing?

Monica - Mikey is so cute! Hope your weekend with hubby is FAB!

Shelagh - Happy Birthday again - glad you did well with your fun cherry pie RM! Enjoy!

Stephanie - Sounds like a wonderful vacation - and isn't it so cool that the vacation weight comes off fairly easily? I'm so excited for you and 199!

Cindy - Sounds like you've had a lot of the summer accidents that always seem to happen going on. We had one here the other day right into our condo complex. One of my neighbors had a tree branch pushed right into her bedroom window and our fence was taken out by the truck (drunk driver). The scary thing is I was only car lengths in front of him.

Pamela - Yes, post photos -we all like seeing photos from each other.

I think I caught up with everyone posting currently! We're a big group these days, I love it.
-Amy

Just realized what I did yesterday - I previewed then never went back and hit submit!

Thanks Mel - I'm hoping with eating the same way this coming week that I will break that 140's line (as long as tom cooperates) - then balance back out for a bit to eating a bit more food more freely - still to keep losing of course, but don't want to restrict myself too much for too long and sht the metabolism down. I'm not feeling deprived at all, but I still know I'm eating less carbs than I'm comfortable with for longer term and less food overall. Okay for short periods, but not long, to get things shaken up Then always back to home base- CAD!

Good morning,

Shelagh, Happy Belated Birthday! I have been so overwhelmed with the pace of this thread that I haven't been able to keep up, sorry.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Yesterday did not turn out as expected since DS18 came home around 10am needing to go to the emergency room. He came home unable to talk and said, in tablet form, that he could not breath or swallow. I called Kaiser trying to get him an appointment with Urgent Care and they told me to call 911. Needless to say, they would not give me an appointment since they thought it was an emergency. DH insisted I take DS to our nearest hospital, since Kaiser is an hour away, so we went. It turns out DS has strep throat and was given 3 days of medication to heal it.

While we were waiting to get the prescription filled, we walked over to the grocery store and stocked up on soup for him. I got home around 1:30pm and still needed to eat lunch.

It gets really hot in the back of the house every afternoon and that is where I needed to work. I really wanted to fill my filing cabinet up with the files that have been sitting in a box so I went ahead and did it. By the time I was finished, sweat was dripping off my face so I sat down in front of the fan to cool down. All I have left to do back there is to clean the bathroom and then it will be on to the next room.

DH and I completed our Bowflex last night so today is our day off of exercise.

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: 2 cups of coffee

CM: Tuna w/mayo & pickles and green beans w/vinaigrette

RM: Salad w/ranch, chicken & mushrooms, asparagus w/mayo, and an ice cream bar

I took my chromium and drank plenty of water.

Hi everyone!!!

Mikesmommy, where are you at?.....I did eat excatly where you did!!! I've eaten there before, so I knew I would like it. They had a car show going on and it was so busy in town, and so the first resturant we went to was full, so we ended up at our little dive! It was good though.
I don't get the fish there, it's too spendy, but at least it's fresh, right off the boats. I live in Raymond- South Bend, and I get my catch of the day at the canneries....I go for the tuna or shrimp, you can get a whole albacore, or you can buy it already canned, thats what I do, alot of the girls get the fish and then can it themselves...but I'm too lazy...

Well, Steph.....your almost there....you lucky girl, you!!! I'm glad you enjoyed yourself on vacation, and remember that the Hellers said that the faster you put it on, the faster it comes off...so thats a good thing!! It'll be back to 199 before you know it! I'm keepin an eye on you!!!

Patty, oh, yes, you absolutley can take it at your RM, thats always the safest time to add anything, I don't like to take my meds outside of the RM, but sometimes you can't help it. Like the magneseium, I'm suppose to take it on an empty tummy, for it to work properly. So I do, maybe thats whats holding up my weight loss? Hmmm....weight loss....or empty bowels????? You know which one I'm taking for now, anyway!!

O.k., my RM is going to be spagettii dinner complete with garlic bread!! Yummers!! I have to go buy the bread first though.....so I'll come back later and tell ya excatly what I had!!! Mmmm, doughnuts sounds good too!!

Oh, Teri, that is scary for your son, I know what it's like not being able to breathe, so I hope the antibiotics kick in real soon!!

Thanks Cindy... I am working on zero energy today. Guess it is cause of letting go of the caffeine, but at least I'm not itching, so it could have been the coffee. I am very fortunate, I haven't had a headache, but its been around 13 hrs. since I have had any at all...

Thanks girls for all your advice and support. It is greatly appreciated...

Teri Sweetheart, that strep throat is really bad. My Melanie had it and she ended up having to get a shot. The shots works really fast and in 2 days it was gone... I myself have never had it, but my Mom use to get it...

Hi all!

Teri, how scary for your son! I hope he's feeling better soon! How are your mom and grandma doing?

Thank you, Cindy and Amy! I know I'll see it soon, but I'm truly enjoying myself right now, with the weight loss and still being able to have my favorite foods once a day! This really is the best of both worlds!

Patty, I hope your energy picks up!

Here is my menu for the day:
Lunch (CM): 3 lunch meat/cheese/shredded lettuce roll-ups with mayo and mustard
Supper (RM): leftover grilled zucchini, leftover grilled steak, a piece of grilled chicken, a piece of lebanon bologna and cheese, fresh blueberries and strawberries, an apple, and a milkshake.

I'm going to try to get my pictures loaded, and when I do that successfully, I'd like to share some with you all! Be back later.....see ya!

Stephanie, fabulously healthy RM.

Teri, how's DS feeling now? That is really so scary. I too have heard strep can be so dangerous...he's lucky to have Mom right on the case to get him to the doctor. (Edited b/c I spelled Teri with two Rs AGAIN.)

Patty, I'm a Melanie too!

Cindy, sounds really good (your RM). Yummy.

I'm having...hmmmm. Well, hubby grilled all this fabulous marinated chicken to make tacos (the authentic kind) and I'll probably have it in a huge salad and then...cookies...mmmmmmmmm!

Hi Melanie! Nice to meet you! I didn't get to personally address all of the new people; it's so wonderful to see so many new people here on this board!!

Your meal sounds really good! My DH made grilled chicken boneless, skinless chicken breast last night. He makes a good marinade -- he pretty much just throws ingredients together, but it always tastes so good!

I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to tell you a bit about myself, and I hope you and everyone else shares their stories too! Here goes: I am 41 years old, and I've been very happily married for 19 years (actually it will be 19 years this September). We have 2 great girls, ages 16 and 13, and my family is my life! We live in PA, in an old farm house that we've been remodeling (and simultaneously living in ) for 5 years. It was always a dream of my DH's and mine to re-do an old house, and we were lucky enough to find one! It's a wonderful life!

I started this weight loss journey in March, 2007, as I turned 40, and I weighed at least 311 pounds!! I was actually to start the proceedings for weight loss surgery with my doctor. I told him I hadn't exhausted all of my options, so after that appointment, I went home, dusted off my CALP book, and gave it another try. I bargained with myself to give it a week, and if I didn't see any results or feel like I could do it, then I'd quit and proceed with the doctor's intentions. Well, a week passed, and I lost weight, and I thought "OK, I'll give it another week, and see what happens," and I lost again! And it continued. Believe me when I say, I've tried so many programs and have bought so many books on weight loss. I tried CAD several times, several years ago, but never gave it enough time. I wanted the results immediately!! But this time, I know that it was the grace of God that helped me, and continues to help me daily, and I am thankful everyday! This continues to be a daily effort, and it will be for the rest of my life, but the results are worth it!

OK, enough for now, but I just wanted to give a very quick and basic summary of the basics about me. Please, everyone, share!! OK, I'm going to try to get some of my beach pictures posted! See ya!

Oh, one more thing that I need to add -- this forum has been a very important part of my daily routine -- the support and friendship here has been amazing!!

In both the CAD and CALP books, they recommend weighing daily, and then comparing your average weekly weight. I thought I would start a seperate thread to keep track of weekly avg weight. Anybody welcome to post there, but thought I would try looking at it this way, instead of daily fluctuations impact. I had 4 weights week before I switched to CAD, so I actually have the numbers.
