Beccanancy - you are looking at two different plans. CAD plans A, B, C and D are all different and not balanced the way CALP (a more recent book) is. So on CAD RM plus salad, you would eat your salad first and then pancakes. But CALP you would divide your plate into 1/3's. 1/3 protein, 1/3 low-carb veggies and 1/3 high carb stuff. The Hellers didn't stress the 1/3 thing in the first book (the peach one that has plans A, B, C and D). Hope this helps!
Kate - yeah! Congrats on the big woosh! Patty - how do you feel now that you have eaten? Glendora - your weight will fluctuate a bit. I bet it goes down again tomorrow! KUTGW! My twins are 28-months and they are still my babies too! lol Cindy - have a great time on your trip. I bought apple cider vinegar today. Not Braggs, but another brand. I haven't tried it yet! RM was bbq fried rice. DH makes it and it is SOOOOOO good! 1 cup fruit (strawbs, blues, canteloupe), Smart Ones fudge cake and a Lindt. Tink - what made you check out Stillman's? Never heard of it. Mind you I don't glance at other woe anymore now that I am where I want to be! I used to though. I would read something in a magazine and then jump to that plan right away! Linda - love that pic! Great shot! Have a great CAD everyone and hi to anyone I missed! Pam |

Hi All -
Good day here except I'm pooped - starting to get up earlier again to get some things done in the mornings and it's always tough the first few weeks till the body adjusts. All well on this end otherwise - thanks everyone for the cheers on the weightloss - the joy will be getting into the 140's - that will be true progress for all of my efforts since December as I have bounced between 152 and 162 since then - mainly between 158-162 then with CAD - it shook it downward, but up and down due to my variance with social stuff. But always the ability to turn it around and get back down. Pam - I love nutrition studies and have read so much about diet through the years, I like learning all the different theories. I am thrilled with CAD - it makes the most sense to me and I can see it always being my home -especially for maintenance like you. However, I have the desire to get at least 10 pounds off quickly (doc would like it too before I start attempting to get pregnant in a couple of months) and so I am just shaking it up a bit since my loss on CAD has been very slow - probably due to my many social things since starting and vacations. So just experimenting - I don't mind things short term if they give me results - but the best thing is having something permanent to always rely on. Going to visit some friends after work - so everyone have a good evening! - Amy

Seems alittle unreal! But ...you guys ARE losing...congrats to all you losers!!! I do not have the book...have just read the info here at the beginning of this thread and tried to read the rest of the thread to follow all your progress.........that took ALL lastnight !!
![]() I wonder if trim milk in hot drinks taken throughout the day would stall one any? Apppreciate your thoughts, thanks.PAmela Last edited by dreamy1 : 07-15-2008 at 06:09 PM. |

Amy, so sorry you're tired...why have you been getting up early?
Pam, 28-month-old twins...how adorable...do your two talk much? My little boy is beginning to talk more. Pamela (dreamy1), you really can't have skim milk or any milk throughout the day (meaning in between CMs or between a CM and your RM). You can have a limited amount of milk or cream with one cup of coffee a day. One of the major principles behind CAD is ingesting food and/or drinks *less frequently* throughout the day. Your body will signal the milk as a food and will produce insulin in response to the glucose in your system and the whole point is to limit that action as much as possible throughout the day. I'm sorry. BUT...CAD is a FANTASTIC way to live. Try it for yourself...it isn't for everyone, but you may as well try. I LOVE CAD and I used to be a huge, huge eater, and a very frequent eater.Okay, folks, here's what I had today: CM: chicken breast w/a quarter of a stewed tomato and a sprinkle of cheese 3 celery sticks RM: barbecued chicken breast 3 cups cucumber salad brownie homemade "skinny latte": iced decaf, 1% milk, Splenda & splash of vanilla extract Last edited by Glendora : 07-15-2008 at 06:49 PM. |

Glendora - yes, I have twin DD's and they are wonderful! One of them has the vocabulary of a 3-year-old and she talks non-stop in full sentences (I was an advanced talker too and I still yammer on and on)! The other one is a talker too, but average. Girls usually talk before boys I read. And get ready cuz once they start they don't stop! But I guess you know that from your other kids. It's such a fun stage isn't it! I had to clean up my potty-mouth because the other day when DH breaked hard at a traffic light one DD said "f@ck go, just go, f@ck!" Oops! I really don't swear often, only when I am in the car and some yahoo cuts me off and makes me slam on my breaks! So now we say fudge!
![]() Pamela - hey, another Pam! It's not a common name at all so I am always excited to meet another! This woe sounds too good to be true but it works. Cindy and Steph have lost 100 pounds! I lost 15 ten years ago and have maintained on CAD since then (except when I was pregnant and I veered off plan a little). Give it a couple of weeks though. If you were on a strict no or low-carb diet before, you may gain a bit initially but it will come right off! GL! Tink - are you up early again because your vacation is over? I find diet and nutrition stuff interesting too. At least now I can read it without trying it! lol I hear ya on a quick 10 pounds. What about the fruit flush again? Denese - oh, I will have to have onion rings and soon! Isn't this woe great? The longer you do it the more second-nature it will be and you will probably start to tweak it too to see what works best for you. Pam |

Thanks! p.s. The one cup of coffee a day is that meant to be had at the RM or can it be first thing before your morning CM?Ta.

Hi, Pamela from New Zealand. I just joined this group and the ladies are great! I have skim (trim) milk in my coffee when I get up (2 to 3 cups). I don't eat anything in the morning. I have salad with shrimp and tuna for lunch. And then whatever I want for dinner! I lost six pounds in the last two weeks. It is just amazing - I still can't believe it.

Pamela - I forgot to address the milk thing. I drink coffee too and I take it with skim (trim) milk and Splenda. I think you should try it out for yourself and see if you lose weight while drinking a bit of milk. When I first started CAD 10 years ago I was very dilligent and followed the rules. Technically you are supposed to have one cup of coffee and drink it within 15 minutes! But, now that I am maintaining, I can be less rigid and more flexible. This means I can have milk in my coffee two-three times a day and I drink Diet Pepsi.. This doesn't seem to affect me, but everyone is different, so try it out and see. If you don't lose after 2 weeks on this plan, cut out the milk and see what happens! If you want to follow the plan to the letter than your coffee should be with cream, if you drink it wil milk it should be for your RM. But if you are like me you need coffee in the morning! lol
Pam (also a Pamela but Pam is easier to type)! lol Last edited by EmandM : 07-15-2008 at 07:52 PM. |

Aww Glendora thankyou so much for taking the time to do that!
REALLY appreciate you doing that seeing I do not have the book yet.I am trying to rest up my leg as much as possible as I have a very small ulcer on my outer right ankle. It is not healing as quick as I would like it too but the good news is I am not diabetic and BSL are all normal and no family history diabetes! However thetre IS a dfamily history of vv's and my mumm has chronic leg ulcers so an urgency to see this all healed up. Losing weight is only going to help in everyway! |

Glendora - just curious? Which internet site were you able to find the list of the CM veggies? That is really helpful!
NZ Pamela - give this a try. I am really liking it. I have never had a WOE work like this one - one that I know I can live with and not have it be a fight every day. Kate |

Welcome, dreamy1! I hope your leg heals quickly and that you'll enjoy this WOE. After a long absence, I've been back for a week or so and I'm amazed at how busy this thread is. You'll get a lot of advice and encouragement here. Way to go, Patty, on your 4 pound loss. ![]() Yesterday was DD20's birthday. I've been referring to her as DDalmost20 for a couple of weeks or so because it was so close. She's so grown up! I can hardly believe I no longer have a teenager. Times flies. We had a family party last evening, and she also invited her two best friends. DH cooked burgers and weiners on the grill and had a good time visiting. Then, we played Wii for awhile. Lots of fun! I stumbled off my food plan, though. I let my guard down by deciding to have my RM for lunch and stick to CM foods for dinner, which should have been easy. But I ended up eating a bit of cantaloupe and grapes my Mom brought. It wasn't that I COULDN'T resist them, it's that I CHOSE NOT to resist them. And then I ate a couple of other things I didn't really need to. My own fault. I'm not even going to get on the scales today for fear of discouraging myself. My weight jumps up and down easily. I'll just get right back on plan today, though. Let's all have a great day! ![]()

Question, again guys. Yesterday did RM at lunch, and when supper rolled around, I knew I was really, really thirsty. I made a quart of Crystal light tea and made sure I drank it within an hour of starting to eat.
I know the RM rule is to eat in 60 minutes or less. The question is if with CMs, the drinking of sweetened drinks fall into that same 60 minute rule? If so, that would help me tremendously with fluid intakes, I think. I did not gain any weight on starting CAD. I basically haven't been LC for quite awhile--maybe a reduced carb from previous eating habits.........but a whole .5 down today. Not getting any hopes up, but at least not going up. Also, last night I had 1/2 lb ground beef, lettuce salad with bacon, cheese and ranch, and 2 celery and peanut butter stalks. Does the salad have to be eaten first? I tend to eat the warm food, and then eat the salad. I have to feed the family, so no real time to sit down to a salad and then dish up warm food........

Hello. I started the CAD program four days ago. I have done CAD in the past and lost initially, but for one reason or other I have always quit in the past. I have had such a terrible obsession with the scale for so long I have been unable to step on the scale. So I'm not sure about the weight loss. But I am already feeling better mentally. I don't wake up in the morning and in the middle of the night trying to remember what I binged on, or what I'm going to eat as soon as my feet hit the floor. ALthough my RM's are still pretty large and not very healthy I am beginning to feel more in control. Thanks everybody for being so supportive!
