Good Morning everyone - just a quick check in to say the scale is messing with me - was 154.5 first time I went on it, but then went back to sleep for an hour and it's gone back to 153.5-154 - so must be soy sauce and the different foods from yesterday - oh well, it's all good. I'm not trying to push it, but I just have this feeling that I'm finding a groove and the 140's will be here if not this week, by next. It's good motivation anyway!

I have a busy chore day but will end my day with catching up with you all -it's so nice to have all of you to share this with. My food plan today is a "clean out the fridge RM" - lots of little bits of things I want eaten or out of the house. Also plan on cooking things for the upcoming week. Will report back later.

Have a great day all! - Amy

Hi ladies

Patty - starting back is the hard part, but you are already there! Congrats so far. And I bet you gradually, naturally start eating one RM. I believe that is what happened to you last time (still reading old posts). You were full so you didn't eat until your one meal. KUTGW!

Shelagh - I always thought CAD was against the norm because Rachel Heller does only do one meal at times and says if you aren't hungry don't eat. But with the new eating plans like Fast-5 and Eat Stop Eat it seems that new research is showing fasting is a good thing. Glad you are liking this WOE. I also think you have a great attitude about not starving. I do the same thing. There are some days one RM doesn't cut it for me so I will have a CM or a small CM snack. It's nice to know that option is there if we need it!

Tink - I want to watch WallE - it looks so cute. I read that they used real toddler voices as inspiration for WallE's voice. I've never heard it speak, so not sure if it's true or not. Don't worry about the weirdness of scales. My DH is obsessed with the scale. He gets on it and it says one thing, then he showers and it says something else! lol I joke that he lost weight in the shower (or if it's up that it must be the water dripping from his body - he has a buzz cut so it's not the hair)!

Teri - sounds like you are having a really productive weekend!

Glendora - LMAO about your kids looking like orphans! There have been many times I would shudder letting my girls out in public because they were so messy! They didn't start out that way, but something happens with toddlers and the world, and everything ends up on their clothes, or food ends up in their hair, on their faces and everywhere else! lol

Not on plan today - I had a friend who I only see once a year over and we had coffee cake and croissants for brunch. I was going to turn it into my RM but we are off to a friends house for dinner tonight and I KNOW she will not have a CM friendly meal. But it's ok, as this is life and I will be back on plan tomorrow. I did my run thought, took my chromium and will be drinking a lot of "wada", as my two-year-olds call it!

Have a great day!

Pam

So far, so good today. I had my Omelet this morning then for lunch I had 2 bites of Brisket, 5 shrimp (small) and 1 slice of Cheddar Cheese. This has really curbed my appetite, so I am Happy.

Got the hamburgers all made out for the grill, so all Henry has to do when he gets home is put them on...

I don't know if, I said or not, but Henry and Dawn is playing the scramble this afternoon.

The girls will all be leaving early in the morning. It has been a busy week and I am about wore out, but we had fun, and made many cherished memories...

Its 7pm here and I am tired today. Went to the riverfront, there is a blues fest going on, but I was way too early. Took a ride on a trolly thru the sculpture park
.

I didnt eat for 23 hrs then had pork chops and coleslaw- low carb chocolte peanut butter muffin with butter and tea..I was feeling a little munchie around 6:30 pm so I made 1/2 cup ricota cheese, splenda. pumpkin pie spice and ate it with coffee(black)..4carbs and almost delicious..

Its weird this WOE, i just wasnt hungry so I didnt eat all day. There was food all around and a real nice bistro but I had no desire to eat. I came home and cooked THEN i could hardly wait!: I was trying to be calm but I was ready to rip the meat off the bones raw Then I could hardly eat everything I had prepared

I am not promising tomorrow I wil do as well but I will give it my best........Shelagh:

Pam, thank goodness I'm not the only one who starts out with shiny-clean pink children and ends up with what looks like two short coal miners!

Shelagh, do you live in San Francisco? I may be coming to Jazz Fest this September. GOOD JOB on the eating.

Today I had:

CM: cauliflower w/a little (about a tsp.) butter; egg salad made with lettuce, mayo & celery

RM: starter salad; LC cole slaw; lettuce-wrapped small cheeseburger with ketchup, onions and tomato; aaaaaaaaaaand....chocolate cake. ETA: And I think I'll have...iced decaf w/LF milk, Splenda and a shot of vanilla extract. This is my favorite "snack-ey" drink. I just ate three seconds ago so it's easily within my RM.

I am done with my Master's Classes for this summer anyway. I have next summer and a little more and then I have a Master's of Ed.!!!

Pam do you weigh daily and if so does your weight go up and down. My weight can be up by 4 pounds and down too. Also, I noticed you had 2 rms . Does it affect you ?

Cindy I am glad you are doing better, dear. You are my inspiration!

L.A. Lady, please don't go. You are one of us. Don't let us pressure you but just encourage you . You don't have to eat like anyone of us. You can just chat about life. I think CAD will help you in the long run though. I too can gain 10 pounds in a week if I ever go off CAD. It is incredible that it takes months to lose yet I can gain over night. Look at Cindy in Vegas. She gained 10 pounds in a week ON PLAN and even eating one meal a day. That would be me too. I love my fruit only rms. I feel hungry but energetic the next day and thrilled to see a 3-4 pound drop overnight! It usually stays down too.

Hi ladies!

Patty - glad to hear you are doing well. Your meals sound great!

Glendora - nope, you aren't alone! Sometimes I wonder why I bother cleaning them as they are going to be dirty two seconds later! Sort of like the "why make the bed I am just going to sleep in it later" school of thought! lol! How old are your rugrats? I have twin daughters who are 28-months.

Orianna - sometimes I weigh everyday and yes, I do go up and down even in maintenance. The most I go up is 4 pounds as well. I usually don't weigh as much when I can tell I have gone up a bit as I don't want to get bothered by the scale, but I know when I am up (by how my clothes fit or the way my body looks). I just make sure I watch my RM's until my weight goes back down. For example, if I am up 2 pounds on a Monday let's say, I will monitor my RM's a little and then a few days later I will weigh again and I am back down to my regular weight. By monitoring my RM's I just mean I don't have two pieces of fudge cake, I will just have one, but I never restrict my calories by too much as I don't have that willpower. I guess I do my own version of a down day until I am back to my regular weight. Do you do something similar? I notice you do all fruit RM's once in awhile. Is that your own version of a down day? Your RM sounds amazing! I love DQ! Oh, and I was off plan today and had two RM's which I try not to do often, but I knew I would have to due to two social events. I will most likely be up a pound or two tomorrow but it comes off pretty quickly. I don't like to go off plan though as I am worried about cravings coming back and I don't want to mess with a good thing, but sometimes it's hard to avoid! Wow! I wrote a lot! lol Congrats on being finished with your Masters for the summer!

Hi All! I'm so happy to have found this board.
I lost about 45 lbs last year on Medifast - my weight is creeping up and I want to catch it before 8 lbs turns into 10. I can't go back to medifast because I've become hyper-sensitive to medifast and I get a migraine within 2-3 hours of drinking any of their products.
So, here I am! I'm excited by everyone's stories and by the idea that I can still eat carbs once/day.
I have gotten used to eating a small (100 cal/17g protein/1.5g carb) protein shake every 2-3 hours and I wonder if anyone does this instead of the 2 comp. meals on this plan?
Thanks! I look forward to getting to know everyone here

Becca

Good morning everone! I had a great CAD weekend. We went out to dinner Saturday night and I was able to look forward to going knowing that I could eat normally and without guilt!!! It so much easier to not overeat knowing that I can have whatever I want - I don't have that mind set that since I have blown my diet, I should just eat everything in site and keep eating and eating. My DD20 was over yesterday with her boyfriend so I had my RM for lunch. Even thought I haven't lost my weight yet (down 2.5 pounds though!), I already feel so much better. Maybe it is just because I don't wake up depressed about how much I ate the day before? And because I have such a sense of relief that there actually something that is going to work and this is so doable?

Good Morning - 154.5-155 on scale this morning - fluctuations as usual, but not surprised since I had a bunch of cheese in my "clean out the kitchen" RM yesterday. Lots of little bits of things including some cookies, cheese, honeydew, dark chocolate, pork rinds, hard boiled egg. Ewww, sounds crazy now, but it wasn't bad - But again not surprised if it bumped me up a bit but I know it will balance back out. I'm all prepped for plenty of protein meals - cooked and ready for taking to work - for a clean week.

Will catch up with everyone's posts soon -

Good morning,

Becca, welcome! No shakes for me, I follow CALP and eat 2 meals a day. You will get an answer because there is someone on this board that drinks proteins shakes. Good luck to you!

Kate, you sound so excited, it is contagious. Great job on the 2.5 lbs., KUTGW

I feel really good about getting as much done this weekend as I did. There is still more to do but I will wait for DD19 to get a day off work so she can help me with the rest.

Since I am on a roll, I am going to focus my efforts on my housework and laundry today.

DH and I completed our Bowflex yesterday morning since I couldn't move after I came in from outside Saturday night. Today is WATP so I will warm up all my muscles and work the ones that are sore.

CM: 2 cups of coffee

CM: Pork chop and green beans w/vinaigrette

RM: Salad w/ranch, Tri Tip, asparagus w/mayo, and an ice cream bar

I took my chromium and drank plenty of water.

Hey ladies I am staying... Some of you may have missed my post stating so...

Yesterday, I got back to CAD and I am so thrilled today. Even though I ate a lot yesterday, I am down 1 lb., and want to lose 15 lbs. by the time my sweet babies come back to visit over Labor Day Weekend.

We had such a wonderful time with this girls this week and made many cherished memories.

I really can't go girls. You mean too much to me and because you were so loving and caring I decided to stay. I just want you to know how much you mean to me.

I am going to try my hand at belly dancing today, if I have time. I want to straighten the house first.

You all have a wonderful Day, and girls we can reach goal together...

The CMs----is there a rule of thumb as to how many carbs should be in them, or calories? I was doing bacon sandwiches for family last night, so I fixed broccoli/cauliflower with cheese and my strips of bacon mixed in. Would that constitute a CM? I figured 5 net carbs in the veggies, then cheese and bacon.

Been having 2egg cheese omelet with bacon for breakfasts.

Becca, I drink delicious homemade low carb shakes with my reward meal, but never at any other time. If you'll go back to the book, you'll see that having anything with a sweet taste, even SF gum or diet colas, can trigger insulin release, which can cause cravings and/or store fat. The idea is that the body tastes the sweet and expects the carbs, so it reacts to it anyway.

So the answer is, no, you need to eat protein and veggies for your CM meals. You will find that your need for frequent meals is reduced. It takes some effort to find some tasty, convenient, whole foods that you like for those meals, but it's worth it. Your body will thank you for giving it pure, real foods instead of man-made or manipulated ingredients. This is the advice from the Hellers. I hope this helps!

Orianna and Pam, you two are such inspirations! I love reading your posts. Hoppinn, your name fits your life! You're SO busy and active, I envision you hopping to get everything done! Tinkerloo, you've got your head on straight, it sounds like. You'll have a good week, I'm sure.

I had a good day yesterday and was pleased to see the scale slip down a little! I'd been thinking about the chicken tacos I used to eat at the nearby Mexican restaurant and decided to have some with my RM last night. I usually get their chicken fajitas, no torillas, and salad. The chicken tacos were good, but not nearly as good as I thought they'd be and now I know the fajitas are better. Yay! That happens a lot. After almost five years of super low-carbing, I'll occasionally eat something I used to crave and find it's just not really that good. I'm glad. I don't want to feel like I'm missing out on anything.

I've used my Wii Fit for five days in a row now, along with playing games on the Wii Sports disc, too. Oh, my goodness! It's SO fun! I usually HATE exercise and never stick with anything for too long, but I know I'll be doing this one for years.

To all of you CAD/CALPers, have a wonderful day!

Hi girls!!!

Uggg.....I had another RM last night, I started out only having a cm of srambled eggs with veggies, but that just made me more hungry than ever, so I just kept going back for nuts, then it was everything I could get my hands on after the nuts....so, I made myself not feel guilty, since it was just one meal, I did stop after awhile, but I couldn't get full, no matter what I ate...I stopped after eating lots of cookies and candy.....I still wasn't satisfied though, thats the insulin taking it's joy ride.... So after I felt guilty for about an hour, I decided to make it a shake up meal, since I've been stuck now for almost 4 months and no matter what I do, I can't seem to lose anything. So by the time I went to bed, I was feeling o.k. with the added meal, I have to not feel guilty or I would just keep blowing it, I know myself, so this moring I feel good and I actually didn't get sick or feel yucky from the extra carbs... I usually do.

I was the same on the scales this morning, which shocked me, I didn't want to weigh, but I needed to see the damage, but there was none, so that made me feel even better...I got away with it.... BUT.... I'm back on plan, no hunger or cravings yet, so thats a good sign, I have no intention of doing this again....no more cm's for me....ever!!! I've tried it twice now and both times I ended up eating the kitchen!!!!

We're going out for the day, I've taken today off, so now I will have 3 days off to go do something...I was really tired after the other night of working all night and the next day too! I plan on going to my favorite chinese place, it's a buffet place. Then tomorrow, we're hopping in the motorhome and going to camp out at our local lake, it's just 1/2 hour from here.

O.k., thats my story and I'm sticking to it!!!

So far today I haven't ate anything and think I am going for just the 1 meal today. It is 1:00 here and I believe that I can wait it out another 4 hrs. I have been trying to stay busy. I woke up starved and stayed that way for an hr. this morning, but the girls were getting ready to leave so I didn't eat and then the hunger went away. I believe that I was so hungry because I ate ice cream last night, and I think I will skip that tonight and see how I do in the morning. I know sugar is supposed to trigger your appetite...
