Hi ladies!

Teri - so sorry to hear your grandma is doing worse. Good news about your mom.

Patty - yay! Isn't it great to win $$?

Mikesmommy - I hope the baby hangs in there til the end! I know with my girls (twin two-year-olds) they are usually ok if there is something going on, and only if we don't go past their bedtime too often, just special occasions.

Happy 4th of July to all my American friends!

Last night I had a veggie burger, most of another full hotdog (finished my kids' dinner) and a massive piece of chocolate fudge cake. And I'm down 1.5 pounds. Go figure! lol

Hi all!

RM tonight: 2 pieces pizza, maple cake, piece of chocolate, cherries and strawberries, tea.

I am stuffed!

Question for those of you with DC's (esp. DD's): What do you do about making sure your DD's have healthy attitudes about food and their body image? I know mine are young still, but I wonder when they get older if they will view my woe negatively, esp. because I do one meal a day. I worry that they will think they need to do that, or because mummy makes her weight is a certain number, then they need to etc. etc. Any words of wisdom in that regard? I want my girls to have a healthy relationship with food, their bodies and their emotions.

ETA - Cindy - I am reading the old posts and noticed your b-day is Dec. 8th. That is the same b-day as my sister and my uncle!

Pam

I hope everyone had a good day yesterday! I was able to stay on plan all day and it felt good!

I'm going out for a bike ride in a few minutes. My SIL and her in-laws and extended family are camping at the nearby park so I'll ride over to say hi before I do the majority of the ride. My niece asked me to ride my bike over! Not sure why she is excited about me doing that but she asked several times so I'll do it. It's only about 3 miles from my house to the campsite so I'll have to ride a lot more once I leave the campground!

Teri, sorry to hear your Grandma is doing worse. I remember when my Grandma had cancer and it was so hard to watch her suffer.

I better get going so I can get my ride before it gets hot!

Good morning,

Moni, we are familiar with Lionhead rabbits, thanks for the darling picture. I am working very hard to stay on track with my exercise program since it is very easy for me to stop and not want to get started again. I hope your family was able to enjoy the fireworks!

Moni, Pam, Cindy, & Linda, thank you all for your sympathy regarding my struggle with my grandma's situation.

Pam, all three of my kids are young adults now. They were raised with three meals a day and would actually choose an apple as a snack. DH has always been in control of his eating habits and hopefully they will follow his lead.

Linda, I hope you were able to enjoy your bike ride today.

I completed all 3 miles of WATP yesterday and today is Bowflex.

DH had a long time friend come over for the weekend and they just left to take a motorcycle ride. I don't expect to see them until much later so I told DH he can look forward to taking his friend and me out to dinner tonight. Of course if there are any of our kids around they can go too.

I have known DHs friend for the last 28 years and he actually asked me last night how long I have been on my weight loss program. When I told him three months he actually gave me a compliment and said I looked good. Now I know I look better than I did, but do not feel as if I look good, but at least my mind is thinking "wait until the next time you see me"!

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: 2 cups of coffee

CM: Chicken w/mozzarella cheese & mushrooms and asparagus w/mayo

RM: Salad w/ranch, rib eye steak, green beans w/vinaigrette and an ice cream bar.

I took my chromium and drank plenty of water.

Thats right Terri, you have the right idea!!! Just they wait!!!

Pam, oh man, that's funny, my dads was on the 9th and so we always had our bithdays combined, but it was always on my b-day!! My mom always just ate one meal a day for most of her life and I never thought anything of it, while I was growing up. And she didn't do it to lose weight, she was always slim...120's, thats just the way she liked to eat!! Now I know why, it makes you feel better, your gut isn't always working overtime to digest foods...I'm starting to see doc's and health food people and diet books starting to go with fasting's and eating lesser meals...

Moni, yes, those were cute pictures of you baby rabbits...

Today I had a melt in your mouth ribeye(braised it), baked potato, beans, bread, cookies, icecream, drink/braggs.

I'm off to enjoy my day off....see you all later.

Hi Ladies,
We had a great 4th! We got to enjoy the fireworks and the baby didn't cry once! He was completely involved in staring at the big lights and kabooms in the sky! He of course fell asleep the second he was put in his car seat when we drove off at 11 pm ha ha.
He stayed asleep through the whole night! So, I was able to sleep too!
My 3 year old went to bed at midnight! He was WIRED and excited about the festivities! It was fun!
We had Subway for dinner last night- I had roasted chicken breast with all of the veggies. I had 1/2 bag of baked chips and diet coke. Later I had a sugar free peach soda! Tasty! I stayed out of the snack type things that people were munching since my hour was over by the time I finished my Subway. Feeding me and the baby at the same time made that hour go by FAST ha ha!
Breakfast this morning:
Coffee and string cheese
Lunch: Chef salad with blue cheese dressing
Dinner: (in the oven right now) baked salmon burgers, corn on the cob, and shrimp cocktail, going to have a Cranenergy drink by Ocean spray - it's made with Splenda but still has 10 grams of sugar and 23% fruit juice so I am making sure to only drink it during my RM.

We went shopping today and we got blackened salmon fillets, shrimp, salmon burgers, Hebrew beef franks, Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, string cheese, lots of vegetables and a bunch of other stuff. For reward meal time I got some light and fit yogurt, applesauce, cottage cheese (and canned fruit) YUM! I also have stuff to make lime bars at some point this week.
I wanted to make sure we had lots of protein sources and veggie sources. We were getting bored with chicken, pork, beef so the fish and shrimp will be a nice change!
I am going to limit my coffee soon. I was off it for quite a while and started back a week ago. NOT GOOD!
I want to go back to just cold brew tea! I end up craving LATTES and Frappucinos when having coffee so it's best to have tea and get my mind off those other things!

Well, it's time to eat dinner and then we are headed out to get some chemicals for our hot tub.
Talk to you tomorrow!
Moni

Hi all, hope you had a great 4th! I had a wonderful time, but I did NOT stick to my plan!! I didn't eat anything "bad" I just didn't stick to my schedule. It's time to refocus and get back to business... it's going to be hard, the next few weeks our house will be packed with family from out of town. If you don't hear from me, don't worry-- just busy from daybreak to midnight. I will come in here any chance I get to see how everyone is doing and get a reality check from my CAD pals! Have a good night everyone.

TOM is finally here, I have been hurting and swollen for the last couple of days, so I'm glad thats all it was, I thought I overdid something, but nope, it's just TOM!! Now maybe I'll get that new number I've been praying for!! I even thought about a cm last night, but I learned my lesson from the other night and just fought the thought, it went away after 20-30 mintues.

I'm off to go buy some cabbage and make my cake. See you tomorrow, girls!!

Enjoy...

Hi all,

Mikesmommy - glad to hear the baby liked the fireworks. We took our girls to an island off of Toronto this morning. You take a ferry over and there are all kinds of rides and things for toddlers. Anyway, on our way home they were asleep before we left the parking lot! Too cute!

Angela - glad to hear you are back on track and you didn't eat any "bad" foods when you slipped up. We all do it, it's important we move on after!

Cindy - my grandma's was on Dec 9th! That's a lot of Dec. 8 & 9 b-days! lol

Teri - wait until the next time he sees you!

RM: funnel cake, perogies, french fries

I ran today as well.

I am pooped from all the sun and activity today!

Pam

Well, here I am! I've occasionally skimmed through some posts to kinda' keep up with everyone, especially Cindy! You've done such a fantastic job and you're such an inspiration to everyone! Well done.

I noticed a few pages back that Cindy was looking for me and then Angela came back. So, I guess I need to get my b*tt back in here too, for my own good.

I started gaining weight when we went to Las Vegas last December and here I am, still about 13 pounds up! I've tried and tried to get it off, doing some intermittent fasting, cutting down on cheese, trying to restrict calories, etc. It just isn't working.

My doc decided that my thyroid is a little out of whack and put me on a very small dose of Armour thyroid. It's only been a month, so I'm trying not to get discouraged on the weight loss thing right now. She'll be doing additional tests in early August to determine if I might have Hashimoto's disease (a very common form of hypothyroidism).

I lost the majority of my weight on Atkins, but after the initial loss in six months, I stalled out. Believe me, I've tried EVERYTHING! I did well on CALP for awhile and got 15 pounds off, but it came back eventually.

Reading your posts has inspired me to try CALP AGAIN. And AGAIN! I'll never give this up. I have thoroughly educated myself about the incredible value of eating a low-carb diet and I will never go back to eating the way I did before. I know I'd weight 300 pounds in six months if I did!

Check out my new photo. I actually cut my long hair off for the first time in about 20 years! I just turned 51 last month and decided I needed a change. I really like it a lot and feel liberated by it.

The band's still playing and we just did Billy Bob's in June. We'll be back in September. Come on out to Texas, Cindy! We've been invited again to play for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December. This will be our 6th or 7th time to do it. It gets better every year! I'm excited, but I'm really going to try to get some weight off before we go. That's my new motivator. DD20 is going with us and will be performing as well. She's skinny as a rail and I don't want to look so frumpy next to her!

I'm a voracious reader and I spend entirely too much time on the computer. In fact, some of my problem with overeating is because I have too much time on my hands. I still take care of my mother-in-law, but it's not usually time-consuming. I've thought about getting a job, but as long as she's alive, she needs me and I need to be available.

Everything else is going well. My DH continues to be very busy, playing music, teaching people to ride motorcycles safely, and consulting for a gas/oil drilling company. Our DD24 & her DH just moved a few weeks ago into a beautiful new house much closer to us and closer to their work. They'll save a ton of money on gas. That was time-consuming, though. Then, we have cars that need work, ongoing plumbing problems, and projects stacked up to the heavens. He'll never catch up, poor man! He continues to hold his weight steady and looks good. I did a good job converting him to low-carb. He rarely cheats and finds it an easy WOL. Of course, I try to cook a lot of good stuff, too!

Okay, I've blabbed enough. I look forward to getting to know some of you who've been around awhile, but since I dropped out, and those I remember from before. Whether I post or not, I enjoy reading and appreciate the encouragement and inspiration.

!!!!Laurie!!!!! There you are!! I'm so glad you are back! I've missed reading about your adventures with the band. I will be heading to Virginia in Oct. to see my newest grandson, but I don't think thats close enough to Billy Bob's...
Where's your picture, I can't see a thing...I looked in your profile thingy...I clicked on your name....I wanna see! I bet your just gorgous with your new hair style! Gosh, it's good to see you again!!
So much has happened on my end too! I'm still trying to get passed another stall, but this time, I'm not overly aggressive in trying to break it. I am happy where I am, but sooner or later, it will break.

I'll be sending good thoughts your way so you can get the scales moving again! Stay with us, Laurie!! It's good to see you again!!

Cindy, under my name there's a new pic marked "Me & DD20". Click that to see the new do. Thanks for the welcome back. I just remembered that one of the hardest things for me to do on CALP is to stay away from sweetened drinks except at RM. I've got to be strong, I've got to be strong.........

It's time to say 'Hi!' I've been lurking here for several weeks, and it's time I thank you for the support you've been giving me - even though you didn't know it! I have a similar story to many: struggled with my weight always, gained extra weight with 3 pregnancies that I never lost, weight increasing as I hit 40 years. I've tried WW, Protein Power, Atkins, Slimfast, etc.; I would lose some weight with any of those. However, when we would go on vacation, or have family celebrations, or something else where I struggled to control the food set in front of me, I would eat the carbs and couldn't get the control back.

I heard about CAD on a different forum, and decided it couldn't hurt. When I did Protein Power, I did lose weight, but I couldn't seem to do it longterm. As an RN, I knew I was in trouble: Over 200 lbs and only 5'1" was horrible, and I felt like it too.

Anyways, I really didn't think that something else would really work, but I'm so glad I gave this a try! After about 7 weeks, I have lost over 23 lbs; the big thing is that it doesn't really seem like I'm working at it! I still keep waiting for things to change and the cravings to come storming back; then I realized that I've been through 2 TOM and some minor life stresses and I'm still losing! This weekend we were at family's all weekend. I was concerned, but I didn't want to make a big deal of this. And I still lost this weekend!

I don't want to hog the forum so I'll try to wrap this up, but I realized that it's time to commit to having other people support me in this - even if you don't really know me! I wasn't going to commit if I couldn't make this work; but, it is working and I feel so much better!

One question: on another general locarb board, many people say that they don't lose weight when they start doing exercising, except for maybe weightlifting. I had told myself when I got down to 180 lbs that I would start walking. Thanks to someone else here, I found about Leslie Sansone, and the dvd is in the mail. Does anyone else here feel like mild-moderate aerobic exercise slows things down? Does CALP, with the RM, maybe work a little differently than say Atkins?

Thanks you guys for your encouragement!

Laurie!!! Good to see you again! Love the new picture!

I've been slacking at posting but still on plan and busy here at home. We got the second coat of paint on the house so now it's time to get the trim painted. Getting ready for out of town guests this coming weekend.

I've been on plan (still doing Atkins for now) and am stalled but I'll be patient and will get back to losing again. I'm ready to get back to more intense exercise now that it's been almost 2 months since my surgery. That should help the stall!

I better get going....lots to do today!

Hi All -
Just checking back in to say I'm back - will catch up on posts from work later. I definitely ate off plan as I "planned" but feel okay about it, nothing too terrible - and I also seem to have some gyn issue going on - starting to suspect an ovarian cyst, so I'm feeling very bloated and uncomfortable and the scale agrees with a 159-160 weight this morning. I know it will come back down so I'm not too worried - but do wish it didn't work this way of course

Looking forward to reading and seeing how all of you enjoyed your holiday!
