Good morning,

DH and I went to town yesterday to return some items and purchase some new ones. We have been in the market for a couple of screen doors and did not want to get aluminum again. We almost got some wood ones but the hardware was not included and DH didn't want the hassle. We found some that were made of vinyl that will look really nice once they are hung.

DH and I completed our Bowflex exercises yesterday and WATP is scheduled for me today. I need to get started because the temperatures are rising every minute I sit here.

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: 2 cups of Coffee

CM: (Restaurant) Chicken caesar salad w/mushrooms

RM: Salad w/avocado & colby cheese, pot roast w/potatoes and carrots, and green beans

I took my chromium and drank plenty of water.

Have a wonderful day!

hello friends

I have been busy stillreading posts from the past!
saturday I took my mom to what we call " art in the park"I live a few blocks from the park so I borrowed a wheelchair and pushed her there, at least I tried. She complained almost all the way. But by the end of the day she had me worn out haha!!. I love her so much but she is a challenge. At the park she bought candy almonds and tried to give me some. I politely said no thanks but I eventually had to FAKE a tummy ache so she would stop asking me to eat them lol!! THEN she bought timbits (small donut holes) ha low and behold I got another tummy ache.Made it thru the day on plan and happy.
I gained a little from upping my carbs but going down again. yesturday i went for a long ride then has a foot long hotdog and a milkshake. Had a very small cm of just steak...So all is well here. Hope you all have a great day and get whatever makes you happy....Shelagh

Hi again!

I wanted to post my RM for tonight. I tried two new recipes, and they both were very good, so here goes: a small portion of chicken tetrazzini, some green beans caesar, a small portion of the antipasta I made yesterday, and 2 low-carb frozen cheesecake bites that I made. I am full, but not overly stuffed. I need to get my head in the right place sometimes, and this has been one of those days -- a lot of self-talk, about what I need to do to get to my new goal and questioning myself (have I been getting "sloppy" lately with my portions at my RMs?). I was talking to my SIL yesterday (we had a BBQ with my brother and her here) and I said that this is a mental battle (eating on plan). One's head has to be in the right place, or else it's easy to get sloppy. I said that my old urges to over-eat, and to eat what's not on plan are still there, but I need to be strong. It seems I'm OK at CMs, but there are times when RMs roll along, and I want to eat this and eat that (basically over-eat), so I know that I will be dealing with the mental issues of eating for the rest of my life. I just have to get my head in the right place. Anyhow, thanks for listening to me, and thank you, all, for being "there" (wherever "there" may be! LOL). See ya later.....take care...

Hi All -
Wanted to make sure I got a chance to say Bon Voyage to Patty - glad you're feeling better and enjoy your journey out here to this great state!

Stephanie - Thanks for sharing that because I have been in awe of your hard work and I pull on it to inspire me when I'm feeling frustrated (along with Cindy's). So it's good to know that you have the demons too that can whisper and prod - and yet you've stayed focused! That's great inspiration!

I'm not sure what I want to eat today - it's sort of a weird feeling - I haven't been hungry at all - not even now - but I'm starting to get a little headachey so it made me think of it. I'm tempted to wait until I leave work to pick something up on my way home -but that's another couple of hours but I don't know what I want now either! Never had this problem before

Have a good rest of your day everyone -
-Tink

Hi girls!!!
I am swamped at work, this is the first chance I've had to sit down for a few minutes.
Pam, I like those too, but I REALLY like the chocolate covered coconut ones!! I only eat them now and then...now though. I used to eat them alot, until I read they added Maltitol to them, and I don't want to get a stomach ache!! I usually have the real thing now.

Girls, I've been trying all day to get this posted, so here it is and I'll see you tomorrow.......

Way to go Shelagh! Feels good doesn't it?!

I still can't figure out what I want to eat - had only 1/2 cup of coffee today - very odd for me - although my RMs were actually quite late over the weekend now that I think about it - about 4ish. I have dinner out with a friend on Wed and then 2 weekends away in a row - so my RM will probably be dinner during all that - so maybe not such a bad thing that I've naturally seemed to move to it. Think I may just have a shake when I get home and call it a day - unless I want something more when I get there.

Stephanie - you are so right, it is a mental battle. I did CAD for years without issue, and then one day I went off plan and that was it, I didn't get back "on' for ages. You do need to be in the right head space, and don't we all wish it were easy enough to turn it on? I am much better now, so if I go off plan, I forgive myself and continue with CAD as soon as humanly possible. In the past, one slip would throw me for a loop and that would send me on binges that would last for days/weeks etc. I think you probably do well with CM's because they are so structured, and the freedom of the RM might still scare you, as you don't know when to stop and maybe you think you are doing something wrong after years of dieting. But just remind yourself that you CAN eat whatever you want during your RM. I hope that helps!

Tink - what did you end up eating? I don't eat unless I am hungry. It's great that you are working towards eating your RM at dinner. Where are you going for the next few weekends? Business stuff or pleasure?

Shelagh - that is great news about the cookie. I remember the first time I left some food on my plate! It was so liberating! It's funny that we think we should finish something, and we often eat things even if they aren't good! For my RM's I try to eat intuitively. I eat only what I really, really want, and I try to stop when I am full. I won't eat protein just because I should, although most days I want some anyway, so it works out.

Patty - have a great trip! Safe travels to you and I hope you are feeling better!

Cindy -the chocolate coconut ones are good too but you are right, the real thing is way better!

RM: chicken strips with bbq dipping sauce, sweet potato fries, corn on the cob, small piece of chocolate fudge cake.

Hi to e/e!

Pam

Hi girls! I didn't think I'd be able to post from St. Louis. I am not on plan but will get back on when I return from my workshop on Thursday. I decided to enjoy my trip & not stress about it. Everyone is doing great staying on plan. Keep it up - this will encourage me when I get back come Thursday.
I have to go now because I am only limited to 15 minutes on the computer here at the hotel gift shop. The workshop was a lot of fun today & I am looking forward to tomorrow. Have a great night!!!

Looks like you are all doing great! We are busy getting things ready to start the deck building this week! DS was in the new pool yesterday to clean it. We still don't have a ladder to get in because we have steps on the inside of the pool and just use the deck to get to them. So we don't have a way to get in right now. DS is tall enough that he can hop over the sides (he's 6'6").

Food has been on plan and I'm back to my full workouts starting today! I think I'll be sore tomorrow!

The weather here has been crazy lately and I've spent quite a bit of time off and on in the basement due to tornado watches! Now there is a lot of flooding but thankfully our house is up high so we don't get that!

Good morning, all!

Way to go, Shelagh! That feels good, doesn't it?

And thanks, Tink and Pam, for your support! I think we all have days like that, and I truly believe that success on any plan is having your head in the right place, mentally! I'm happy to see that the scale went down for me today -- 207 -- so I'm going in the right direction.

I just took a chocolate chip zucchini cake out of the oven, and the house smells wonderful! I'll be making some dishes with zucchini as I got a bargain on some and I want to use them before they spoil. Also I'll be making some dishes for my DH to take into his company picnic on Friday. I have some requests for desserts that I've sent in on previous occasions.

I'm off to take the dog for a walk, before it gets too hot. See you all later, and stay on plan -- it's worth it!

Hi Ladies
Sorry I haven't been in in a while. I have something new called The Lord's Table. It's on the internet and it is a free course. It is helping me so much. I have lost nds. I didn't weigh when I started. Check it out if you get a chance. It really helps with all the mental "stuff" of watching how much we eat. Setting Captives Free - The Lords Table--Phase I

I have been outside everyday working and enjoying the gardens and the warm weather. It's been hot but I'll take that over winter anytime. I have to go back and read a few pages to catch up with you ladies! Have a wonderful day!

Good morning,

Good job to those of you that are making choices to continue on plan.

Patty, I hope you have a wonderful trip and enjoy your time in California.

I worked on the computer all day yesterday getting the rabbit records in order. DD19 has been involved in showing and breeding rabbits for several years and the records are very important for us as well as future generations.

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: 2 cups of coffee

CM: Pot roast and green beans w/vinaigrette

RM: Salad w/ranch, chicken breast, broccoli, and Haagan Das ice cream bar

I took my chromium and drank plenty of water.

Have a wonderful day!

Shelagh, I know the ice cream bars are expensive but I am worth it. I really love ice cream and I have a problem with portion control when I dish me up. I have no control over the size of a bar but I am in complete control over going back for seconds.

The Haagen Das ice cream bars here in the US are $4.19/3 bars plus 7.25% tax. We were able to get them 2/$6.00 for awhile but that was when they were on sale. I used to buy 1/2 lb. Hershey's w/almond bars from Walmart that were anywhere from $1.25 to $1.50 and that was a much better buy since a single bar would last me 8 days. I decided to start eating the Haagen Das because when I did the comparison between the two I was getting less sugar and carbs in the ice cream bar.

The worst part about the price is I still have two kids living at home and they both like them. It is probably cheaper for me to allow them to eat the bars then to buy a gallon of ice cream since it doesn't take them very long to go through it.

So lower carb went well. I am going to look for some recipes in the low carb forum. I never liked to cook but this will be my life now so I had better just learn to like it
I may have some left over steak for CM if I am hungry. Oh who am I kidding?? I will have some steak later.
And YES Terri you are definately worth it!!
Talk to you all later......Shelagh

Good Morning Everyone -
Wrote a long post this morning from home and then the power went out! So here I am again from work for a quick one -

156 - scale is going the wrong way! Not sure why, but know that I'm on track - unless I'm somehow eating or doing something I'm unaware of. I did have my RM when home last night - had a flax muffin (my version of a muffin in a minute - more english muffin style) with cream cheese and lox, some red onion and capers and a side salad of artichoke hearts and olives- followed by a nice apple for dessert and a couple of pieces of dark chocolate. I did eat later than I have been and haven't had much "regularity" the last few days (tmi sorry) so perhaps it's all of the above - and the heat.

Have a good day everyone - must get to work now - Tink

Hi!

Tink, don't worry -- daily fluctuations are normal. I've had that happen to me many, many times! I know you're on track -- your meals sound good. Do you like the flax muffins -- are they the ones that are posted here? I've tried them a few times, with different variations, but I honestly don't like them at all. I wish I did because of the health benefits, but I just can't get past the smell of them, and I even tried them with pumpkin (love it!) but no go! I'm glad that you like them -- there's nothing easier either than whipping one up -- so easy!

Hi Lucille! Nice to see you! Thank you for that link; I'm going to definitely check that out, as it falls in line with a theme I've had lately -- portion control! How is your garden doing? Well, I hope! So far, everything I've planted has come up. Well, take that back --- I planted some flowers in newpsaper cups, to get them started, and not a single one has germinated! I even "greenhoused" them -- I set them outside and tented them with clear plastic to speed them up, but nothing! Oh well, so much for the 10 cent seed packets! Today, I planted peppermint and dusty miller in a pot and put it in an old, weathered chair (minus the seat) -- cute and primitive, just like I like it! I'll jazz it up some more with grapevine. You're in PA, right? It has been hot, but I'm not complaining at all -- love it!

Shelagh, I'm glad that you were satisfied with your meal -- that's what it's all about! Have you ever been to Linda Sue's website? She has a wonderful site, full of low-carb recipes and their pictures, and reviews! Here is her link: Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home I hope you enjoy -- she really has some neat ideas! I had made something low carb last night -- mini frozen cheese cake bites, but I don't think I got the recipe from her site. You take one box of sugar free pudding (I used vanilla) and mix it with one - 8 ounce pack of cream cheese, and 1 cup of heavy cream. I mixed that all together, then put a dollop in each section of a mini muffin pan (I lined them with mini cupcake papers). I got 24 total. Then I put the pans in the freezer. They're good, in fact my kids like them, but to me, they're like eating fudge -- really rich and you only want one or two pieces.

Hi Teri! I've found that their ice cream is expensive too, but it's worth it if it tastes good and satisfies you. I haven't had H.D. for a long time. I really like our supermarket's store brand of no sugar added ice cream, and a brand by Turkey Hill. Blue Bunny is good too. Do you have any of these brands in CA?

I tried a few new recipes again tonight, as I feel like I've been in a cooking rut. I made crockpot sweet and tangy beef, and oven baked eggplant. So for my RM tonight, I had: a small bit of the the beef, eggplant, zucchini (done in the oven too), a small piece of the chocolate chip zucchini cake I baked this morning, an apple, and 1 piece of sugar free caramel. This meal was not balanced as are my usual RMs, but much smaller portions. I was happy that the scale read 207 this morning, as opposed to 211 yesterday! Isn't it amazing how very quickly we can gain on anything out of the ordinary for us? That just makes me shake my head in disbelief! I know I worked a lot of the water weight off yesterday and last night, with walking, cutting the grass, moving firewood, raking grass, gardening, and housework.

Have a great evening, all! A quick thunderstorm rolled through here a while ago, but they're calling for nice weather again tomorrow! See ya!

Hi ladies!

Shelagh - a fellow Canadian gal! I am in Aurora, Ontario. Do you know where that is? (North of Toronto). I grew up in Toronto though.

Tink - fluctuations are normal. I bought a pair of shorts on Sunday and they were loose. I tried them on tonight and they were tight! I'm hoping it's because of the heat and I am a bit swollen! They better fit tomorrow when I go to wear them! lol

Stephanie - Glad to hear about the weight loss! woo hoo! You will get to your goal no problem! Your RM sounds delish. I love eggplant! I love lemon zucchinni loaf, so your cake sounds amazing!

Hi to e/e! Gotta go work on report cards. Will write more personals later!

RM: chicken club panini, cup of cherries, fudge cake, 1/2 cup of Bryers ice cream, 5 Dora "fruit" snacks that one of my DD's didn't finish! lol

Good Morning -
Still hanging at 156. Had a bit of a crazy RM yesterday - I think I'm having hormonal cravings because all I wanted was the huge rice krispy treat I had eyed at the store. So I decided to have it with some cantaloupe (I'd also been craving for a few days!) and some Greek Yogurt. Was still sort of hungry so followed up with hummus and rye krisps. Tonight I'm off to have sushi/Japanese with a friend so that will be my main meal - may have a cm for lunch if I'm hungry or feel I need something.

Even though the scale is hanging, I'm feeling lighter somehow. Maybe I'm losing inches because things are looser on me - I haven't done measurements though so maybe that's something that would be helpful. I"m also going to start looking for patterns of my weightloss with my cycle since I track that as well - it seems I keep mentioning that maybe it's due to tom or ovulation, so perhaps if I track it visually I'll see a trend.

Stephanie - the flax muffin is a version of the muffin in a minute that I learned about on Atkins. I cut out the sweetener and cinammon and just make it with egg, butter, baking powder and flax meal - salt & pepper. I microwave and then toast in toaster oven till crunchy outside softer inside (I make it in a shallow bowl so it's like a thick english muffin) I actually don't mind them at all - they just remind me of a grainy bread. I didn't have any in the house or I would have had bread instead probably - but this is easy and good for me so why not.

Pam - Did the shorts fit today???

Hi to everyone else - time to work now -
