Good morning,
Cindy, I'm sorry you are going to cancel your trip to the water park next week. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and you won't have to cancel. Enjoy your weekend off! Patty, it's great that you are feeling better. Your pedicure sounds lovely and a nice beginning to getting prepared for your trip. Dana, I hope the scale was cooperative for you this morning. Trish, enjoy your trip to St. Louis! Tink, your haircut sounds cute. You did really well at Applebees, I hope you were pleased. You have always had a great attitude and it seems you are continually motivating yourself in one way or another. KUTGW Shelagh, sorry to hear your mom doesn't agree with your eating plan. I usually get negative comments from my mom, but not this time. I think it is because I don't have limitations to what I eat, but when I eat it. Every time mom tells me to try something, I tell her I will include it in my meal, and she seems to be satisfied with that answer. Since beginning this plan, my food choices are healthier because I am eating more veggies than I ever did when I was eating "normally". Linda, I'm sorry the weather is not cooperating for you, but it seems you have figured out a way to get your exercise done. Good luck getting the deck completed so when the weather does clear up, you can enjoy your new pool. I completed 3 miles of WATP yesterday and today is Bowflex. My menu for yesterday included: CM: 2 cups of Coffee CM: Pork chop and asparagus w/mayo RM: Salad w/ranch, Prime rib french dip sandwich w/au jus, and asparagus w/mayo I took my chromium and drank plenty of water. Have a wonderful day! Last edited by Hoppinn : 06-07-2008 at 09:32 AM. |

Teri I hope you have a wonderful afternoon.
It's funny how family members seem to not understand what we are doing. I think it's just that they are ignorant to the way of CAD.... |

Hi ladies!
Shelagh (and anyone else who is interested - lol) - I don't keep any other journal either. I am sort of a different case I guess. I have never had a major weight problem, but I am an emotional eater and I can definately binge! I have fluctuated in the past and gone as high as 20 pounds above my regular weight, but I have stayed steady (115 pounds) for the last 6 or so years (I was 132 before that, after gaining weight from being on prednisone for an autoimmune disease I have called myasthenia gravis)! But I digress! lol I went back on CAD a few weeks ago, because my weight had gone up 3 pounds in a couple of weeks, which is strange for me. I went in for a bunch of tests (I had other symptoms as well) and am waiting to hear but it sounds like thyroid or PCOS. As I was researching PCOS I found this website and I heard that a lot of people with PCOS eat the CAD way. I remembered how in control I felt (I last did CAD before i got pregnant with my twins, who are now 2)! I never post my RM as I am too busy getting to know everyone else! I also feel a bit sheepish cuz you ladies are all great cooks! I have never done a roast or crock-pot type of thing in my life! Before I had kids DH and I would eat take-out or something out of a box every night! We are better now, but our meals are VERY simple (pb and j, grilled cheese etc). In the summer we are a bit better as we do a lot of bbq! But I will start sharing my RM's because I love reading everyone else's - it gives me ideas! Last night I had pepperoni pizza (2 slices), 2 triple chocolate chunk brownies (delish) and some cherries. My RM's are never balanced like the CALP plan, but it works for me so far! Wow, sorry for rambling ladies! Tink - I totally get about being impatient. I am always looking for the next best thing or the latest fad, but CAD works, so why do I bother looking elsewhere? I think it's sorta human nature, but it's good we are acknowledging it! Patty - in the old posts you are doing CAD (I am at February now) and losing well. Are you still following CAD now or are you doing portion control? Sorry for my bad memory! Also, you say you want to be at your siggy weight, what does siggy mean? I am sorry the meds are making you feel yucky. When can you come off them? Hi to e/e Post more later, my kids are up from their nap! Pam Last edited by EmandM : 06-07-2008 at 11:34 AM. |

Pam Signature weight is what you have in your Avatar, if you chose to put it there.
See my Stats. Right now I am trying just not to eat too much and cut down on the amount of calories I eat a day until I get back from our trip. I want to get back on CAD when I get home. It's just too hard when you are traveling with 4 people to get the right foods. Right now I am holding my own at 175... |

Pam I have 40 pills to take and then may have to take more. It just depends on how my tests turn out Monday. In the description it says they can make you really tired but I have to get this done and taken care of... I am taking 3 antibiotics a day so I have 13 Days worth so far...Keep your fingers crossed that I won't have to take more...

Patty - Oh, so your siggy weight would be your goal weight? That makes sense! lol I totally get what you mean about it being hard to do CAD while travelling. You want to enjoy your trip and not worry about where to get a CM if you need one, or keeping an eye on the clock. You can get back on CAD when you get back. I do hope you don't have to take anymore.
For those of you who do one RM a day, do you ever get hungry? When I originally started CAD I eventually switched to one RM a day. Not on purpose, but I truly wasn't hungry all day. My sister never believed me when I told her I always ate my RM at dinner, and I would wake up the next day still not hungry. But now, I am starving by mid-morning. I usually have a snack (hard-boiled egg or string cheese) and that does the trick. Anyone else get hungry? Does that eventually go away? I am ok with the CM's if I need them, i guess I am more curious about the rest of your experiences. |

Pam, I did 1 meal a day for 6 weeks and at first, I got hungry, but after a few days the hunger wasn't so bad. Cindy, eats her RM at lunch and does really well on it. I am going to try to get back to 1 meal a day, again...

Hi Pam -
I mostly do 1 RM - I didn't set out to do it on purpose either really - although there was that part of me that thought it might help me lose faster I will admit - I can't remember why it happened the first time for me but it was something like I didn't feel like breakfast and then didn't get lunch till around 3pm so wasn't really hungry for dinner that night after a big RM. The next day I decided to try the same thing and it worked easily so I stuck with it. I don't really notice feeling hungry unless I mess with my RM time (shifting it because I'm meeting friends for dinner or something) but I do notice that the RM time is approaching about an hour or so before. It works well with my schedule during the week to have my RM for a 1-2 lunch unless I have after work plans which isn't that often. I'm also fine with adding a cm if I feel I need to. I don't plan on always doing just an RM - it's largely for me during this time when I am focused on weight loss - it helps the part of me that needs to know I'm doing "something" and that I'm in control. It also makes food planning SO easy - I love not worrying about what's for breakfast - lunch - dinner - and it becomes sort of a game of "what's my rm today?" I plan to use 2 cm's or at least 1 since I'm not usually keen on breakfast anyway and then an rm for maintenance. The only thing that's sometimes hard is socializing and keeping an RM to an hour - but that's the way it is for now! I had to laugh at your "siggy" question - I did the same thing for the longest time "what the heck is siggy? Till I realized it was short for signature. So it's the person's current weight in their signature - like mine still says 153 -and that's where I want to get back to -don't want to change it back up! Have a good rest of your weekend! -Tink

Hi girls!!!! Sorry for getting in here so late! I had a nice day off with a nice nap, just now waking up!! I had my RM at 11 and had a peanut butter/chocolate shake with a banana and almond flavoring. I t was good, but the popcorn was BETTER!!!! I made it on top of the stove and added a whole cube of butter.....I ate it all too. I had 3/4 c of kernels...
Oh and a doughnut....now they are gone, so no more for awhile.I am soooo glad you girls are getting so much out of the old posts!!! That really makes me happy!!! They also got me going again too!! Thats why I'm doing some shake days....I did this during the times that I was stalled or losing too slowly, and it would kick in the weight loss again! I do not balance my meals at all, I never have....I would always try, but ended up with too many junk foods. But it still worked anyway, and it kept me happy!! I love to eat junk food, and this plan allows that, I still get my veggies in and my protein, so I don't worry too much about it. My hair isn't falling out or nothing, so I'm healthy and all my lab work is normal for me. It's not healthy to have a too low cholestrol, it causes heart attacks!! I only did one meal for a day or two...now and then during my first year, then March 07 I started one meal a day and have since then. March 07 is when Steph started cad too...huh, Steph!! You have done so well!!! Over a hundred pounds!! Everybody is doing well with cad!! I still love it and will continue forever!!![]() I beleive when you read about the 20 minute eating and not going back was...if I ate my meal and had stopped for 15-20 mintues, then I wouldn't go back for more food, even if it was still within my hour. The Hellers say not too. So once I'm done, if I think of something, I'll run and get it, only if it's only been a few mintues after eating.....did that make sense?? ![]() I lost 2 pounds this morning!!! Down to 148! Just two more and then on to new numbers. I want to lose 5 new numbers befor my doctors appt. on the 27th. I can't believe that I've been the around the same weight now for over two months!! Ya, surgery has kept me busy, but now I have no excuse to lose the rest. Thats why I've been doing the shake days, they fill me up and so it's easier to have s small meal. Tomorrow I'll do a shake and meat and leave out the desserts. I have to cut back slowly, otherwise I would miss my goodies too much. I get my shake powder at HSN...they are called..."secure", they are low carb too, and only 69 calories. But mine end up to be a thousand, I'm sure!! ![]() No I don't get hungry at all anymore, maybe just before I eat, my tummy starts to gear up, because I know I'm getting ready to eat. But other than that....no cravings, no hunger almost every day...now, sometimes I will get a small hunger or craving, but thats usually because I changed my meal time or I had too many surgar carbs in my meal. Other than that...oh and TOM will make me eat more in my RM, one week prior to him showing up!! Thats hormonal though, and I usually won't notice that I'm eating alot until the week is up and then I notice I'm not as hungry any more, then it'll hit me.....oh TOM week! O.k., now I need to get on my bike. Or I'll get lazy, we have movies to watch...we're still into the 'Sheild" ![]() Have a good cad night, girls!!

Actually Cindy, it adds up to 1,500 ml. of antibiotics a day. I really feel wiped out this afternoon and I don't know how in the world I am going to be able to keep up with them for 2 weeks. My bladder still doesn't feel right. It's not hurting but feels like it is sore inside. Gees, it's a good thing that I listened to you girls and went. I think the Azo tablets made me feel better and I haven't taken any since I went to the Dr.

Hi gals, just a quick post to share my RM tonight:
bbq chicken (2 pieces) corn on the cob with butter an amazing blueberry cream cheese tart (HUGE too)! Lindt milk chocolate ball I try to eat my RM all at once too, and it usually takes me 15-20 minutes. Sometimes I take a break between bites because I am helping one of my girls with their dinner, but they are only a minute or two. I don't go beyond the hour though. Cindy -congrats on the weight loss today! Your shakes sound so yummy. Maybe I will try and find some shakes here. My DH makes his own shakes for working out. He puts in protein powder, oatmeal, banana, peanut butter and mint chocolate chip ice cream. Eclectic ingredients but it's actually really good! |

LIke last night I ate 8 peaches and last week 1/2 watermelon but it was in one hour. TOnight I am having a big ribeye, salad, ice cream, Mt. Dew. So I don't go without!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ever!!!!!

Hi Orianna - I just read in the old posts that you used to eat hard-boiled eggs but that you stopped and switched to just one RM per day. Can I ask if you were hungry in the beginning but just ignored it or did you find the switch to one meal fairly easy?

Hi all! I'm late getting here, but better late than never, right?
I've been outside all day -- my DH and I went to yard sales, and we found some good stuff! It was 93 here today --whew! I think we must have hit some new record for it being so hot so early in June! The pool feels wonderful -- I told Flower I'm going to take some pictures of it and post them.I was up 2 pounds this morning, and I was a bit bummed about it, but such is life. And I know I'll see another gain tomorrow morning too -- my dear family and I went to a Chinese buffet today for lunch, so need I say more?? I know it will come back off, but it will probably take some time. Thanks for the compliment, Cindy! And sorry to hear that you had to post-pone your water park trip -- I hope you get to go later!! That would be a lot of fun! We're sleeping in our camper tonight (out in our yard) -- the girls wanted to sleep in it, so we'll be "camping" in our yard! Patty, I hope you're feeling relief from your infection! Hi to everyone! Stay on your plans....you're worth it! Talk to you all later.....see ya!

![]() Patty Hope the infection goes away very quickly. Enjoy your vaction. Cindy Glad to see that you will be getting the numbers going in the right direction. I still get inspiration from all the info on CAD that you provide. Stephanie I am very scared to go to a Chinese restaurant because of the scale fluctations. I'm so proud of you & your terrific dedication to your WOE! Thanks so much for the inspiration. Hoppin, Flower, Dana, Tink, EmandM, Shelagh, Teri, Oriana, Pam, ShirlC, Linda, PamGoodtolaff, PepPatty, & everyone else. I've had a drama filled weekend on both the personal level & with major home disasters. The air conditioning unit + the hot water heater flooded my laminate flooring. I purchased a new hot water heater yesterday & had it installed. I have used so many towels for mopping up that the washer & dryer have been going non-stop for the past two days. Much of my flooring is pulled up awaiting repairs. This coming week, I need to purchase a new air conditioning unit & have it installed. Can't use the A/C since it will leak on the new hot water heater. My scale is staying just about the same with a few 10ths fluctations. Have a great Sunday everyone. Hugs, Barbara

Good morning,
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Patty, thank you for your kind words, I hope you had a pleasant afternoon too. It wouldn't be so bad if those people who are ignorant of this WOE would at least make an effort to understand, instead of jumping to the conclusion that it is an unhealthy way to eat. I don't believe everyone makes healthy choices and do not agree with the way some people eat, but frankly, it is none of my business. Pam, I used to cook but DH has been doing the majority of the cooking around this house for the last ten years or so. I have never enjoyed cooking but DH not only likes to cook, he is good at it. We have a problem going out for dinner because I am so spoiled with his cooking, we have a hard time finding anything that tastes as good. Tink, being in control is a major issue on any eating plan so KUTGW. Stephanie, I guess you have been busy lately with working outside, getting your pool ready to use, going to garage sales, and you even went camping. You always have so many things going on, I admire your energy. Barbara, sorry to hear about your horrible week. I hope everything gets fixed in a timely manner so you can put it all behind you. On the upside, you look terrific! I am a tennis fan and have been watching the French Open for the last two weeks. I am sitting here watching the Men's Final and can't wait for it to be over. I have so much to do around the house since I have been doing the bare minimum the last couple of weeks. DH asked if we could do our Bowflex workout today instead of yesterday and I said it was okay as long as I get it done. I guess we are going to get it done right after tennis is over. My menu for yesterday included: CM: 2 cups of Coffee CM: Prime rib and asparagus w/mayo RM: Salad w/ranch, chile verde burrito, and Haagan Das ice cream bar I took my chromium and drank plenty of water. Have a wonderful day! |

Good Morning Everyone -
Just a quick hello - scale at 155, kept trying for 154.5 so maybe in the next day or two. I'm looking forward to a brunch RM today - think I will make either flax pancakes or have a flax muffin with cream cheese and lox - and a smoothie - haven't decided yet! Late afternoon yesterday I had a yummy RM - made myself a seared tuna dish with wasabi butter, brown rice, artichoke hearts and had a strawberry/mango smoothie for dessert with 2 spoons of mint chip ice cream (that's all I wanted for the flavor) and a couple of bites of a chocolate cookie. Worked in the garden in the cool of the early eve until it got too dark! Lovely day. Chores today - paying bills is next~! Have a great Sunday everyone - Barbara - So sorry to hear about all of your mess! That's such a horrible time when things like that happen. You look beautiful in your new pic though - keep up the great work! - Tink |

I too love your new pictures.....your almost there, Barb, keep up the great work!!![]() I am down another pound today 147....one more to go!! I'm having a pork steak and carrots, pinapple slices, 1 cookie, with one scoop of ice cream. Gonna keep it low portions today. I haven't made my ranch dressing in a long time, I think I'll make some today. Tomorrow will be a shake day. Tink, I've never had a tuna steak, I've always wondered what it taste like. I hear it's not like canned tuna at all. Your meal sounds great!! ![]() I'm going to do my ranch and get started with my meal...I'll check in later!! ![]() Last edited by coxbowen : 06-08-2008 at 11:14 AM. |

Hi Everyone! Not much time right now but wanted to pop in for a minute. DH finally made it home last night. The weather was terrible and his plane landed at a different airport a few hours from here while I was waiting at the airport after a horrendous drive to get there. They closed the airport and the airlines then bussed them all to the closed airport so I had to go back at midnight to get him! DS went with me that time, and he drove so I could relax a bit!
Food has been on plan but not as much exercise as I usually have. We are trying to get all the inside chores done so that if there are breaks in the weather, we can do outdoor stuff. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Teri - My DH does most of the cooking (especially bbq). I just never got into it. I love to eat, but I don't love to cook! Barb - oh, what a rough week. I am sorry you have to deal with all of that. Cindy - I just read on the old posts that you sometimes eat an Atkins candy bar during your RM. Which one do you like? I like the one that has caramel's and nuts. I save it for my RM now, but usually eat "real" chocolate! Also, I chuckled when I read that you haven't made ranch in awhile cuz you just made it in the Feb. posts I am reading! lolol! How do you make it? Tink - your meal sounds delish! I love artichoke, and especially artichoke hearts. We used to boil them and dip the tips of the leaves in lemon butter. Yum-o! Linda - glad to hear DH is back safe and sound! Did the weather hold up for your chores? Patty - tell your DH that I spent a good deal of money today at the mall! lol I had a great day of retail therapy! I bought 2 dresses, 2 tops and 2 pairs of shorts (walking short type things that i can wear to work). I shopped at Mexx, Jacob and RW & Co my three favourite stores! Then I bought my kids the cutest outfits at The Children's Place. I bought one a pink sundress with yellow flowers, and the other a pink sundress with orange flowers. Well don't you know they both fought over the yellow dress. Sigh, figures, my twins are best friends one minute and fighting like cats and dogs the next! |
