Hi Patty -
That's so lousy - I'm sorry you're having to deal with that. The best thing you can do for sure is drink a lot of water and keep things flushing! Unfortunately, they're not something to mess around with, but I've had times where I've been able to keep them at bay and avoid having to go on antibiotics by taking some acidophilus pills, eating yogurt, drinking PURE cranberry juice. I also have a friend who swears that she drinks an alka-seltzer the minute she feels one coming on and that it takes care of it - sounds like a bit odd to me - but I know she's had recurrent uti-s for years so maybe she knows a secret. I hope Cindy comes up with something better for you! - Tink

I also forgot to mention that there is now an over the counter product that eases the discomfort while you urinate - it's a lesser dose of the pill they've given me by prescription before (sorry I forget the name) - it turns your urine orange/red -but it soothes everything by lightly numbing I believe. It's available in the drugstore by the feminine hygiene stuff or ask your pharmacist.

Hi Everyone! I had to take DH to the airport for a 6 a.m. flight this morning! I didn't go back to bed when I got home instead I went for a bike ride, a really long one -27.56 miles! Then I took a 3 hour nap!
Patty, hope that UTI doesn't get worse...drink lots of water, as everyone else has mentioned. I've never tried anything else but I haven't had one very often so I'm not much help. I think I may finally be done bouncing around on the scale since my surgery and TOM. I was down 3.2 lbs. this morning! Just a little bit lower than pre-surgery weight! DH is out of town all week so I can concentrate on losing! I'm off to get some dinner now...missed lunch because of the long ride and nap....

Thanks girls... The pill is Azo Tablets and I got some from Wal-Mart. They really work well and I read in my Home Remedy Book to drink lots of vitamin C and that is supposed to help get rid of it. I have been nauseous for a few days, so I should have known that something was coming on...
I could have went to see my Dr's Dad, but he is really old and slower then a snail a crawling. I had to take my Granddaughter to him one time and I had to wait two and a half hrs to get in to see him and then I had to tell him 3 times what I wanted and that she needed generic drugs, or Dawn's Insurance wouldn't pay for it, so decided to skip going to him and trying to get rid of it on my own... Have a great evening...

Patty, please don't mess around with a bladder infection, if you are running a temp and are nauseous, then get to that doctor, it can turn into a kidney infection fast!!! The infection runs up the urters to the kidneys and bam.....your really sick!! You'll need to get antibiotics if your running a temp, now if it's just a slight infection, then you can fight it off with what the girls said, but if your in real pain each time you urinate...then you need antibiotics!! Don't wait a week either, thats not good, get it while it's fresh, it'll be easier to treat!!
I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner, I was really busy at work, we're getting ready for state inspections tomorrow and I have to go in for the first meeting at 9:30am, then I have the rest of the day off, along with wed. seems like even if I get a day off, I still have to go in for these meetings!! I had a small lunch today, had another meeting right during my lunch.... so I had to stop early, but I had a nice rustic bread with beef and deli mustard, muffin/ ice cream , corn chips, one cookie, drink/braggs. I don't know what I'll have tomorrow, maybe cereal. I'll see you all tomorrow!!

Hi girls!
Patty I hope you start to feel better. I don't know what it's like to have a UTI maybe because for as long as I can remember (even before my WL journey) I have always drank A LOT of water. I would take Cindy's advice since she works in the medical field. Good news for WI today down 2 lbs from yesterday. Very pleased needless to say. I'm taking it one day at a time, but trying all my best to stick to plan. My goal is to get back to my lowest weight of 160. I know I can do it on this plan (which is the only one that works for me) & with the help of all of you girls! Looking forward to reading posts from you later today. Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning Everyone -
I was thrilled to find the scale back in the 150's this morning - 159! Which again surprised me some since yesterday was not quite as clean as I had intended, but it wasn't awful either. I've been nursing a headache for the past few days and since I get migraines, I am always sensitive when I can feel one coming on, so I haven't wanted to rock to boat too much with changing my eating - especially since I'm only a few days off of caffeine. So I did have my two shakes as I had planned, one in the morning and then one around 1pm but then I started wanting something salty. I tried a piece of my dark chocolate that usually satisfies any cravings but it didn't get rid of it. Finally I asked a colleague for some pretzels and then I was okay. I wasn't really thrilled with it, but I rationalized that it was still so much better than I had been eating. I was fine then and then when I came home I had some chicken breast and chipotle mayo and a small dish of ice cream. So I definitely ate much less food and nothing too terrible, but now I need to work on my timing again. I think for today I will work on going as long as I can and then having an RM with lots of my favorites - salad, apple, greek yogurt, dark chocolate if I want it. If I feel I still need more later, I'll have a simple cm. I feel like my taste buds are coming back to what I was eating before I left. You CAD pros were right, much of the weight must have been all the restaurant food and of course my tom. So hopefully this vacation gain will be gone soon and I'll be back down again. Keeping the faith and moving forward! Thank you for all of your encouragement and reminders that it does work. Just reading how those of you who have lost so much more than I have to lose have persevered has made a huge difference in my perspective. Thanks and everyone have a fantastic day - -Tink |

Oriana,
If you wouldn't mind helping out :-), I would like to ask you some questions to understand better as I am somewhat confused and am interested in your method. At one point you were doing all day refeeds and said that you were surprised you lost more weight that way but then you went back to CAD? Was it just the "hangover" effect of all day eating that turned you off? I noticed your weight is higher than it used to be (101-102?) not that it matters and I mean no offense, just trying to understand your changes as I want to try your method. Currently I simply monitor my weight and do a variation of what you do. I do about 650 cals on on days and vary between 1/2 day refeeds and full day although I have done 24 hrs. But, yes there is insulin hangover to deal with and it is harder on your body to eat that much in such a short time. I notice body temp changes. My body temp goes up on refeeds. I have read that someone on a weight lifting site actually goes by temp for timing refeeds and not by weight. So there has to be something to that as it isn't just my experience. Some questions: Seriously, are you not hungry on 300 to 500 cals when done in one meal? Hunger is an issue my way. It sucks frankly. Do you sleep well on lower calorie 2nd day or 3 day? I find sleep problems. And if I know that the next day is refeed...I really find sleeping hard LOL. Thanks for your help in advance. |

Good morning,
Patty, No we are not close to Eureka. Eureka is truly in Northern California. We are located in the Sierra foothills, which is an hour Southeast of Sacramento and an hour East of Stockton. Patty, I am sorry to hear about your bladder infection. My Grandma has been getting them for years and usually ends up on antibiotics. She has been told to drink Cranberry juice but I believe that is for prevention. I hope you see a doctor so they can give you the right medicine. Linda, you are doing so well with your recovery as well as your eating and exercising. Are you still doing Atkins? Trish, if your stats are current, it shouldn't take you very long to get back to your goal weight, good job. Tink, nice to hear about you seeing the 150's again. You are doing what works for you and it sounds like you will be right back on plan soon. Dana, thank you for the compliment on my daughters artwork. I really find this WOE easy and have had no difficulty whatsoever. I am working very hard not to deprive myself of the foods I want, and by doing that, I feel I will be successful in the long run. I completed my 3 mile WATP power walk yesterday and today is Bowflex. DH is working from home today so we may get it done before this evening. My menu for yesterday included: CM: 2 cups of Coffee CM: Leftover ribs, and asparagus w/mayo RM: Salad w/ranch, BBQ rib eye, sliced cucumber, and Haagan Das ice cream bar I took my chromium and drank plenty of water. Have a wonderful day! |

Hi ladies!
Patty - glad to hear you are feeling better. UTI's are not fun. How is your plan going? Cindy - I just got to the threads where you post your old pics. I am amazed! You are so inspiring! Since I joined this group a couple of weeks ago, your current Avatar is the only picture I have known for you, so that is the image I have in my head! I was floored by the other pics! I mean that in a good way, I hope you don't take offense. You do look so much younger! Hard to believe you are a grandma! I just wanted to say congrats to you! What made you decide to do the tummy tuck? I had a c-section after my twins, and while I am back down to my pre-preg weight, because of the section, I have a bit of hanging skin. I always toy with the idea of getting it surgically removed, but I would have to make sure I don't want to have any more kids, and I don't know how much it costs in Canada. I run and I do pilates, and I still have it after 2 years, so I think it's here to stay! lol Hoppinn - do you and DH work out together? That is so cute. My DH likes to go to the gym to do weights but he doesn't do cardio. I am a cardio girl and I don't do weights, so we wouldn't be good workout partners! One of us has to watch the kids anyway, as I run on our home treadmill and he goes to the gym. Once, years ago, he wanted to run with me. We drove together to the track and he didn't make it once around! He stopped, had a smoke (bad)! and he drove home and I ran home! We still laugh about that attempt! Tink - awesome news about being in the 50's again. What is your goal weight? You can't be too far! Yay! Peppatty - congrats on the 2 pound weight loss! KUTGW! Mamagiff - that is so amazing that you are an avid biker! DH and I signed up for the Becel Ride for Heart a few years ago. We bought new bikes for the event and showed up that day with NO training! 3 hours later I seriously thought my butt was going to fall off. It was hanging off the back of the bike because I was so uncomfortable on the seat! I have not been on a bike since! lol I prefer to run anyway, but my dad (also a runner) loves to bike to work! Hi to anyone I missed. I try to get to everyone for personals, but as I aaid before sometimes I can't scroll down to see the other posts! I seriously need to start making notes! lolol I am home today (took a mental health day, it's been a draining week). My kids and DH are sleeping (Dh is sometimes more like a third kid)! If the weather clears we will go to the park. RM is spaghetti and meat sauce and something deliciously chocolatey! Enjoy the day! Pam |

Oooh - I started reading the old threads too for inspiration! Can't wait to get to pictures. Cindy I'm sure you've heard it before but I just want to say that you really are an inspiration to me and your determination to keep going really does play in my mind when I'm down. So thanks for that.
Guess what - I've made it till now for my RM! And I have to go and get my salad so it won't be for another little while - I think I'm back on track girls! My head is a little achey still/again so I'm still dealing with adjustments with the blood sugar and caffeine, but hopefully it will all be done soon. - Tink |

Pam - I forgot to say - I have about 30-35 pounds to lose - so I have my work cut out - I've been having a terrible time knocking it off - I think that's why coming home from vacation with the scale back to my original start weight freaked me out as much as it did, but I'm settling back in now.

question for you
So I've now eaten my RM - a typical RM for me before I went away and was doing just an RM a day - and I am feeling completely spaced out and dizzy and almost can't keep my eyes open. I'm assuming this is something to do with insulin and/or blood sugar, but was wondering if any of you knew more specifically. When I first started CAD I came over from Atkins and so I didn't go through any weird start-up period - is that what's happening now? I like understanding these things so I'm aware for future.
My RM was big and consisted of: Big salad with egg, olives, mushrooms, etc - my usual, w/caesar dressing. A Protein bar that I sometimes have - peanut butter flavor - 20g protein, 30g carbs raspberries and greek yogurt 2 pieces of dark chocolate I intentionally went kind of big because I am hoping to get myself back in the swing of one RM a day and get back into the cool routine I had before NY - but now I'm wondering if I've gone too fast. Hopefully this will fade - I'll post more later to let you know what happens. -Tink |

Hi Tink - not sure, I am no expert, but it could just be your body adjusting to being back on one RM. Maybe you feel tired because of all the food in the RM. Don't get me wrong, the amount of food is fine for weight loss, but I mean your body is getting used to digesting the one RM as opposed to what you were doing on vacation. Does that make sense? Usually digesting foods makes people a bit tired. Not sure about the dizziness though. Hopefully it goes away soon.

Hi girls!!
Ahh, you girls warm my heart!!! Thank you soooo much, it means alot to me! I'll have to post more pictures soon, as this tummy tuck just keeps getting better everyday!! I can now wear my jeans without it hurting.Boy Tink, I had such a BIG RM, that I fell asleep afterwards too!! I had a small one yesterday and so today I started out good....ribeye, pork steak, carrots, bread, but then I had 3 big donughts and ice cream, cookie, chips, 1/2 muffin, a bite of choc.candy bar.....by this time I couldn't shove any more in!! Yup, that would've been a binge if it was any other diet plan!!! But for us, it's o.k.!! Once in awhile, or if we're at maintance!!!Now if I go up a pound, which I will, I won't fret about it. I'm gearing up to go back to my shakes, so tomorrow I do a down day and go from there. It's hard to do a down day at home because food is readily available!!! But I'll try. I have a docs appt. on the 27th and I wanted to lose 5 pds by then, I've been tanning and the doc will be taking my after pictures. If they're not too grafic, I'll post them here, before and afters (tummy tuck and breast lift) (for the girls that don't know what I did!) Which by the way, was the best thing I could of done for myself, the extra skin after weight loss cannot be exercisized away......docs will tell you this. I've wanted one for years, but if I was slim, I didn't have the money and if I did have the money, then I was fat, so this is the first time that I have managed to get them together!!! I can now wear those tight tube shirts that the teeagers are wearing!! I won't, but if I wanted too, I do wear things like that in the house though... It's fun.Tink ya, it's your body getting in balanced, I got sick the first couple of nights when I first started, and once way back when, I did blow it and when I got back on, I felt that feeling again. Just watch you blood pressure, too low and it'll make you dizzy. Well, I better get on my bike and ride off the rest of this lunch.....ugg, i'm still full!!!! Can I take chromium at the same time as my iron pill?
