Hello everyone,

I completed my 3 mile WATP power walk before I left yesterday.

I made it home and I am tired. My sister and I went through all the boxes that were in her garage and put the items out that we wanted to sale at the garage sale. We were up fairly late last night and then had to get up super early this morning to get started. We have eliminated quite a bit but I didn't even get to my boxes that I have been storing in one of the bedrooms. I believe we will be having another sale at her house and maybe I will take some of the things from my home too.

My Dad brought us all dinner last night from a Chinese restaurant. Since my family knows I have special food needs, they were kind enough to ask me what I wanted. It turned out that the items Dad was getting were perfect for me and my sister supplied me with a salad so everything turned out well.

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: 2 cups of Coffee

CM: Chicken breast and green beans w/vinaigrette

RM: Salad w/vinaigrette, pork chops, and tempura asparagus

I took my chromium and drank plenty of water.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

WOE: CAD....had tummy tuck 3/24/08
Start Date: 12/18/05...restart cad one meal a day. 3/07
Hi girls!! I have been reading the past posts all day and all last night, almost through with them and I have been inspired to get going again. Boy I sure was up and down with the weights....man I'm so glad that I had the patience to keep going, good thing I had the mindset that...if I stopped my plan, I would just gain it all back, so I felt I had no choice but to go on!! I'm so glad I did!! Now it's all behind me and I just have 26 pounds left to lose. That sounds alot better than 110!!!

Girls, all you need to do is a trial and error thing, if you get too hungry and feel terrible because of it, then have a cm, and then try again the next day. I had to do alot of things to finally find my way, but once you find it, it's really easy and you won't have any struggles, at least I haven't so far. I still am learning too and I may have trouble getting the last off, but at least I know that if I stay on plan, I'll never have to worry about gaining it all back again. Thats a blessing!!!

I had spagettii, chips, potato salad, cake. I was full, I'm trying to downsize my portions, each day I will remove alittle something until I'm losing again. Thats all I can do right now. I did do my bike tonight for an hour.

My tummy is alot better and it only hurts some at the end of the day.
I will finnish off the past posts tomorrow and then I'll be in here more. There's alot of info in those posts, girls, try to read through them, alittle at a time.

I'm so tired right now and can barely type, so I'll just see you all tomorrow, girls.....have a good losing night!!!

Hi ladies,

Imjoyful - congrats on quitting smoking! That is amazing. A bit of weight gain initially is fine compared to continuing to smoke! Hang in there, the weight will come back off.

Hoppin - how did the garage sale go? Did you have nice weather for it?

Cindy - I have been reading everyone's past posts too and have found them inspiring. Plus since I am new, it gives me a chance to get to know everyone a bit better. What you just posted is very true. I remember a slow weight loss in the beginning when I started CAD years ago, and then it all melted off. I started with a CM and a RM and then I moved on to just a RM and that really worked for me, but if I was hungry I would have a CM snack. So true about it being trial and error. Glad to hear your tummy isn't as sore!

When to take Chromium GTF?

Hi ladies, quick post to ask about chromium GTF. I picked some up today (500 mcg). I got the no-name version, but only saw a difference in price between that and the Jamieson brand. Hope there is no difference! For those who take it, do you take it with your RM?

TIA!

Pam

Good morning,

For those of you that wished me well on the garage sale, thanks. The amount of work it takes to put on a garage sale is not worth it, in my opinion, unless you have some big money items to offer. The reason I even bothered with the sale yesterday was because my Mom and Dad had two homes that they were living in part time and when they sold one of them all of their stuff went into their vacant rental home that they were also going to co-occupy. The rental home is a 4 bedroom, 3 bath home and they allowed me to store a few items in one of the bedrooms. My sister is going to move into the home soon and would like to get all of our folks boxes cleaned out and my stuff out of the bedroom. Since we had to go through the boxes anyway we decided to have a garage sale.

flower, I am sure your new plan will be a success for you. I have been busy getting things done around my house and I have one more big project to get started on. My DS is now 18 and comes home occasionally. His room has been an eyesore for the last year and I have decided the only way it is going to get done is if I do it. I expect his room alone will take me several days since I am going to eliminate everything except his dressers, clothes and guitars.

Trish, I hope you had a successful weekend staying on plan.

Lucille, you are doing great working on what will work for you. Losing that pound should help to keep you motivated in finding your way. KUTGW

Tink, I can understand your frustration getting back to square one. I recall you did very well on plan before your vacation and believe you will be able to get right back on.

Patty, it is great that you are having a good time.

Flower, I agree with eating more protein helps to keep you satisfied. I am very focussed on eating just as much veggies as I eat in protein for my CM since the protein helps to keep me satisfied and the veggies are high in fiber and help in other areas. I am looking forward to the day I will be able to post about how my house is all clean and my laundry is done but it will be awhile unfortunately. Good for you because I know how great it feels to get things accomplished.

Shelagh, since we are all different, I understand how one meal a day is not for everyone. I have had a few single meals because of different circumstances not because it was what I planned. I have always enjoyed food and can not see me only eating one meal a day for the rest of my life. I can see me eating 2/3 CALP meals for the rest of my life and that is why I have chosen to eat at least twice a day.

Dana, I wish you well in giving up cigarettes. I quit smoking about 24 years ago when I discovered I was pregnant with my first child. It was not difficult for me between wanting a healthy child, being sick, and DH was not a smoker. I can honestly say I never wanted another cigarette, which is rare for most quitters. Again I wish you luck!

Cindy, it is great that you are able to learn from the old posts. I have kept a record of everything I do regarding my weight loss journey, plus I have two journals. One of my journals is similar to what I post everyday and the other is for my exercise. Because I have my journey public, I think it helps me to make better choices in what foods I eat plus it keeps me focussed on my exercise program.

Pam, the central valley of California can get hot this time of year but the weather was perfect for the garage sale yesterday. I think it reached the mid 70's, and we were very pleased. I take my Chromium in the morning as soon as I start drinking my water for the day.

DH and I completed our Bowflex yesterday before we had dinner. He suggested we put it off until today but I wanted to get it over with so I could have the day off.

I have no idea what our plans are for today so it will be a wait and see kind of day. DH asked me if I wanted to go to a motorcycle show today so we may end up doing that.

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: 1 cup of coffee

CM: Chicken caesar salad w/cheese and caesar dressing

RM: Salad w/ranch, Cheeseburger on bun w/mustard, mayo, pickles, lettuce, and tomato

I took my chromium and drank plenty of water.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi girls, I'm going to post early this time, so I don't forget.

Pam, you can take your GTF at anytime of the day, but take it only with water, and at the same time everyday, I guess it helps to balance your sugars better if taken at the same time. I used to adhere to this, since I know it works so well, but if I forget to take mine (at night), then I'll take it in the morning. Night time was just more easier for me to remember.

I'm taking my cla again, thats another one that really helped me, I take the "extreme" one and it has caffiene in it and it helps me lose water weight. I only took 2 yesterday to see how much it would affect me and it wasn't bad, so I'm taking 4 today, then I'll go from there, I'm suppose to take 5 but thats alot of caffine sometimes to keep me up at night.

Whoo-hoo, my very first dress came the other day and my freind hemmed it for me!! It looks great on!! My other freind wanted to swipe it from me for her vacation... But I told her no-wayyyy, I'm wearing it tomorrow. It's a tan colored demin shirt dress that snaps up the front. It's short sleeved and slightly pucked in the sleeves. I like it. I have to wear panty hose at work, but then I'll wear my white socks and tennis shoes with it too. Oh man, my first dress!! I have skirts, but haven't worn them yet, maybe after I get started wearing these kinds of clothes, I'll be more comfortable in them.

I went up yesterday on the scales but I'm back down today. I'm going to keep lowering my portions until I see new numbers!! Maybe it's time for a shake day??!!

Lunch today will be more spagettii sauce and a small amount of noodles, cookies. I don't know yet what all, so I'll post that later.

I'm offf to read more, I'll check in later.

Thanks Cindy and Hoppinn. I didn't know I had to take it only with water. I have a decaf coffee with Splenda and a splash of half and half. Do you think I could take my chromium with this or does it have to be plain water (which I find so hard to drink as I don't like it much but I know it is good for me).

Hoppinn - I so hear ya about garage sales being not worth it. We had one a few years ago for DH's mom's stuff (she was a packrat and we said "enough is enough")! Anyway, I remember thinking the same thing! At least it's done! Glad to her the weather was nice. I live in Canada, and I have no idea what 70 Farenheit is (we go by Celsius). I used to know how to convert it in my head, but not anymore (and I am a teacher - shame on me)! lol Sounds like it was good weather though!

Cindy - I just finished reading the old posts where you bought your shakes and were so excited about the different flavours etc. Do you still take shakes during your RM?

There are a few ladies from the old posts I haven't seen yet. Did some people leave "the boards?" I am so glad I read the old posts (still have a ways to go)! It reminded me about what works and doesn't work. Some of you were asking what's better, to have the RM mid-day or for dinner. When I first did CAD I had it at dinner, then I switched to lunch, but that only worked for me when I was living alone, so I could control what I had for dinner. As soon as I moved in with my then-boyfriend (now DH) I switched the RM for dinner. That also worked for me in case a close friend called up and wanted to go to the movies or coffee and desert etc. If I had already had my RM, I couldn't enjoy cake or popcorn. So it worked for my lifestyle, I would wait all day and I wouldn't miss out on any social/food opportunities. That is what I like about this WOE, we can work it into our lifestyle and what works for us.

I also remembered that I was eating "real" food during my CM's whereas later I would eat Atkins bars. I figured they were low-carb, so they were ok during CM's but as someone posted in the archives, it's the sweet factor that is an issue, not so much the carb count. So I am back to eating real foods when and if I need a CM. I also remember that I would aim for one RM a day, but knew that if I was hungry, I could have a CM or a CM snack! It all came back to me while reading the old posts, so thanks for sharing!

Today I had a hard boiled egg for a mid-morning snack. We went grocery shopping and then I went for my run. After my run I had some cheese, stir-fried green beans with garlic (my favourite) and a Diet Pepsi (I will keep these with my CM's unless I find I am craving things). RM tonight will be bbq steaks, corn on the cob, LC veg and some brownies for desert.

Oh, another thing I wanted to add is I rarely balanced my meals as I was going from their first book. I think the CALP meals are probably healthier, but what works for me is being able to eat whatever I want (within reason of course)! lol So while I try to have balanced RM's sometimes I just eat whatever! And that can mean french fries and a slice of cake! heh heh!

Hi Everyone! Looks like you are all doing great! I really enjoy reading about everyone's day!

Teri, I agree about rummage sales being a lot of work and not necessarily worth it. My SIL's subdivision has one every year so we save stuff and put it in at her sale. We help her get everything ready and then pack up whatever is left. We are done till next year!

Dana, congrats on quitting! I quit 25 years ago and don't regret it for a moment!

Cindy, we'll be needing pics of you in that dress! I'm so happy you've stuck with it and have done so well! You are an inspiration for all of us!

Hi to Everyone Else....I've got to get some stuff done while I'm home alone with no interruptions so I'm off....

Hi Everyone -
Sounds like a productive weekend for all! Well... except me - I spent the day in bed with a bad headache on Saturday and then today after some laundry went to see the Sex and The City movie - which was good frivolous fun. I haven't managed to kick the major carb cravings yet but I am determined - since I switched from Atkins to CAD when I first started I had already beaten the cravings and it was a smooth transition - now each time I think I'm going to make it I cave again. So, I must set my mind to it and get on with it. Part of it has also been emotionally challenging and I've been trying to get off of caffeine as well. I know I won't give up - it's just taking me longer to get back in the swing than I anticipated.

Dana - I just want to say congratulations. I take it very personally whenever I hear anyone is quitting as I lost my mom to lung cancer. She actually had quit about a year before being diagnosed ironically and believe me, if she can quit, anyone can. She was a serious smoker for about 46 years and always swore she'd never give it up. One day I came home for the holidays and she announced that she and dad were quitting because of the huge price hike - she said she just couldn't justify it anymore. Since she had never even threatened to quit before and I was so thrilled at the prospect, I asked if she would like me to buy her the patch to help her over the hump. She said yes and never looked back. She kept her last 3 cigarettes and was never tempted. I was so proud of her. I wish you all the best - you CAN do it.

I will weigh in tomorrow girls to face the music of any further damage and will go from there.

goodnight - Tink

Hey ladies, thanks for the well-wishes! It hasn't been too difficult, really, at least not so far! I never did it that much anyway, I just figured that it was time to knock it off. Tink, I am sorry to hear about your mom.
My dad just finished chemo and radiation for a tumor in his lung; he had also been a serious smoker for over 40 years before he quit several years ago.

So, back to CAD!! I love this WOE. I'm planning on getting back on the straight and narrow.
Y'all have a wonderful day!

good morning

Well, its the start of another week! It looks like a beautiful day here. I feel great just a little hungry sometimes. I have cut my carbs way down ,sorta like an experiment now I am a little afraid to add them back in.Being real low carb is a little depressing-- low energy and kinda blah personality sometimes. I have been fooling around with low carb diets for a month now, have lost 10 lbs. but I havent found a home. I definately like CAD the best, who wouldnt. It works!!! BUT, I dont want to give up my coffee just yet. I love it in the am and one in the afternoon. I know it seems like a small thing and I sound whinny but it is like a mental block lol!!!
So today I will be doing CALP, balancing my main meal, low carb the rest of the day.I wish you all the best of days. I hope you all get everything you need to be happy.......Shelagh

Oh, and on my old scales, I just weighed 176 so that isn't too bad to get started with. I am using them because they weigh the same, as my Dr's does...

Good morning all!
Well, I stuck to my goal not to binge & did it! I thought about having a late night snack of chips on Saturday night but I did not give in. My scale read 161.5 on Sunday morning much to my surprise because I had:
B: LC Bar w/ coffee
L: Dinner salad w/ honey mustard & crackers, 2 fried catfish filets, french fries with ketchup & a slice of key lime pie with diet coke
D: LC Bar w/ zero sprite

But I think I got too confident and over did it on Sunday:
B: Coffee
L: Cucumber salad w/caesar dressing, chargrilled catfish (left over), french fries & cookies & cream ice cream on a waffle cone from Marble Slab
D: LC Bar w/ crystal light slurpee from 7-11
Then went to the park with some friends and there was food and I munched on rotisserie chicken. My weigh in today was 164.8 - so not sure what did it, but am pretty confident that is was probably the LC bar, crystal light slurpee & munching on the chicken.
I need to stay away from having the LC bars at my CM and if I want to eat chose to eat protein or nothing at all. So, I need to be a little more disciplined. I was a little bummed needless to say!

Today's meal:
B: Coffee (decar) w/creamer
L: Salad w/dressing, WW meal, slice of whole wheat bread (maybe w/butter) & 3 peppermints
D: CM?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Have a great CAD day everyone!

Good morning,

EmandM, it was 21.1 Celsius the day of the garage sale according to my conversion chart.

Tink, you have the right attitude by not giving up. Once you get started everything will fall into place again and you will be back on your way.

Shelagh, if I wanted an afternoon cup of coffee, I would try to include it in my plan and see how it works. You may discover it will not affect you in a negative way and can continue to include it in your WOE.

Patty, what part of California are you going to?

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: 2 cups of Coffee

CM: Salad w/ranch, bacon bits, colby cheese, and sauteed shrimp

RM: Salad w/ranch, BBQ ribs, asparagus w/mayo, and Haagan Das chocolate ice cream bar

I took my chromium and drank plenty of water.

Patty, I was curious to know what part of California you were going to, thanks for the info. I am located in Northern California and Porterville is about 4-1/2 hours South of me. I hope the weather continues to stay mild for your week long stay.

Cindy, how wonderful for you to feel back to normal. I have been meaning to ask you, what are braggs?

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that today is WATP and I am getting ready to get my 3 miles in.

Have a wonderful day!

Teri I was raised in Eureka California and lived there 22 years. Are you close to that?

Good morning girls!! Oh my goodness, I didn't know that my post got posted, I'll delete the first one...sorry about that!!

My scales played a dirty trick on me, I woke up in the middle of the night and I weighed myself (while I was waiting for the dogs to come back in), and they said 144.4, I was so shocked, what?? So I got on again and it was the same..... I was so happy that I had finally broke my stall.....but this morning at my regular weigh in, they were back to my same as usual....I was so mad!! Bummer! But it just got me encouraged to get things moving again, so I'm really gonna try and back off of everything and take my
