Good morning,

EmandM, I can only imagine your shock of hearing about the tragedy of your coworkers' son since it affected me just reading about it. Again, my Condolences.

Stephanie, thank you for the compliment on my daughter's artistic talent. My shoulders haven't been exposed to the sun since last year and I wore a sleeveless blouse to my folks house. My shoulders are still sore so that will be a lesson to me.

Linda, your pool sounds wonderful. Good luck getting your doctors approval to resume your biking.

Lucille, you should be proud of yourself for getting right back on plan. I am rooting for you!

jclairel, it sounds like you are working the plan and figuring out what works for you. One lb. is only the beginning of what you can accomplish. KUTGW

Patty, great job on the 1.4 lb. weight loss. I am sorry you are sad today and hope you will be feeling better soon.

Yesterday was the first day that hunger was an issue for me. When I started getting hungry around 10 a.m., I put off warming my lunch until 11 a.m., trying to get as close to lunch time as I could. I couldn't believe I was hungry again around 3 p.m., so I drank some water to help to hold me over. Since I continued to be hungry, I started cooking dinner around 5 p.m. and ended up eating at 5:45 p.m. I ate until I was satisfied and had my hunger under control for the rest of the evening.

I still have a tremendous amount of house work/organizing left to do so I know what my plans are again today.

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: 2 cups of coffee

CM: Ribeye steak and green beans w/vinaigrette

RM: Salad w/ranch, chicken marsala w/mushrooms & mozzarella cheese, and green beans w/vinaigrette

I took my chromium and drank my water.

Hi Everyone! On my way out to ride my bike! Dr. said go for it! I will stick to riding in the park for a few days just to be sure all goes well and then I'll be heading out on the roads again. I have the bike in the back of the truck and will drive to the park because there are 2 big hills between our house and the park.

Dr. is pleased with my recovery and I have no restrictions other than if something hurts, stop doing it! Works for me! I'll keep the weights on the lighter side for another week or two but I'll go up to 5 lbs instead of 2 lbs. That's still half or less of what I was using before surgery but I don't want a relapse!

Hi everyone!!

I had a nice visit yesterday and got home late last night, so I just did my bike and didn't pop in here like I usually do.

I'm so sorry about the tragic death of a young person.....so sad! I'll say a prayer for the family.

Patty, why are you sad??

Everybody is doing great!! It's so nice to come in here, cause it's so active!! I have a hard time remembering names and when I go to post, I forget who I'm posting too, so I try to do personals, but can't remember too many, but I DO read all the posts.....you guys are GREAT!!!

I did alittle shopping last night, I had a gift card for Old Navy, and so I got me 4 pairs of shorts!! Different colors, but all the same kind! They fit me just perfect, they were a 10, slightly roomy, but I don't like my shorts too tight. Now if would just get some sun!! I started my tanning for the year, but that takes at least a month to get a nice tan! Wish I lived in the hot zone!!

I had a roast beef dinner yesterday and today will be the same beef, sliced up thin and a sauce poured over it, pineapple, bread, doughnut, tapioca. drinl/braggs.

Oops gotta go, I have to work some now!!

EmandM~I am sorry too to hear about your coworkers son. That was so sad to hear. When you posted about it I told my husband and I just couldn't get it out of my head. I can't even imagine the grief she must feel.

Hi Patty
~I hope you are feeling better. I've been thinking of you. Are you okay?

Hi Teri~Thanks for the kind words, thanks for rootin for me. I need that.

Hi Linda~Enjoy your rides!

Hi Cindy
~As usual your RM sounds yummy. I can't wait to have fun shopping like you. I like Old Navy clothes too.

Today was another great day. I only had a cup of decaf tea with a little 1/2 & 1/2 in the morning. Then for my RM I had a salad, pork chop, brussel sprouts, homemade sweet potato fries, 2 snack size snickers, a small scoop of ice cream on a cone and my water. I also got my exercise in. I push mowed the lawn intead of my DVD but I broke a much better sweat so I'd say that's good!

Hi to everyone! Let's stay on plan together! I'll check in later!

Patty- Sorry to hear you're so sad!!! I hope things get better real soon!

Cindy- that's great that you found 4 pairs of shorts you like and they fit you great too!

EmandM & JClaireL!!!! Hope you're doing great on your plans!!

Stephanie - I know what you mean about the fruit. I buy oranges, apples and bananas regularly for my children and I - and lately the oranges haven't been the best, they're a bit on the sour side. Your loss is 105 lbs - that's really wonderful friend!!! I'm so proud of you too!!!

Teri - sorry to hear about the tremendous organizing/work you still have left to do! I hope you have a real productive day and get everything done that you want to! You'll feel so great when it's all done! Just keep thinking of the end result! That's what I do when I have a huge project to work on

Linda - that's great that you're able to ride your bike again! Wow, that's cool news about your new pool! We live in an apartment and can't wait til we can get a house and I'm hoping it's a house with a pool, or at least a big backyard so we can put in a pool or at least a kiddie pool, lol.

I wish I had a pool, I love to swim, but with our weather, I'd only get to use it a few days out of the year!! Hey, maybe I can put one in my sunroom and heat it??!! Now thats an idea! I'll have to look into that one.

Well, after lunch, my tummy got uncomfy, so I couldn't sit for awhile, had to move around and get that lunch moving out.... I feel better now though.

Hi Flower!! How's it going with you? I know it's a daily struggle sometimes, but we'll win in the end!! Keep up the good work!! Ya, my daughter got me that gift card for there, but the length on their short pants are too long for me, I think it 29 inch inseam and I need a 27, all the pants everywhere are getting so long!! They must think we ALL wear high heels or something!! I would if I could, but I don't want to break something... Have a good night Flower!!

See you guys later!!

Hi all!

Good for you, Cindy, for getting some nice shorts! I think Old Navy has nice clothes, and I'm actually able to fit into some now! How's the baby doing?

Hi Flower! I hope your wish for a house comes true soon -- that would be great for you! Isn't that disappointing about fruit, especially for how expensive it is? And I love apples, but boy, that one yesterday was tasteless! Now I had one tonight at my RM, and it had more flavor, but not as much flavor as the ones I bought 2 weeks ago.

MommPatty -- I'm sorry to hear that you're sad. Here's to a better day, friend! Good news about the drop in weight, though!

Teri, your meals always sound so good. Do you make your own vinaigrette for your green beans? If so, would you mind sharing your recipe, please?

Hi there, Lucille! I'm so glad that you had a great day!! That's the spirit! And I know what you mean about a work-out with push-mowing -- it truly is a work-out!!!

Yay, Linda! I'm sure you're thrilled to have the "OK" for bike riding again! Just take it easy (I'm sure you know that).

I walked for 50 minutes this morning at the mall, and here's what I had today: Lunch(CM): 3 scrambled eggs with cheese and sausage mixed in
Supper (RM): a really big chef salad (dark greens, onions, green peas, cucumbers, turkey, 2 hard-boiled eggs, a handful of croutons, and blue cheese dressing), a few Doritos, a milk shake, and an apple. I met my water quota too.

I'm waiting to hear from the pharmacy -- my poison ivy is insanely itchy! I have it on my stomach, abdomen, and legs (in patches). At least my face isn't swollen, but man -- my stomach is making me nuts!!!

Well, have a great evening, friends!! See you all tomorrow!

Hi ladies!

I agree about the personals being hard, because you can't see all of the posts while you are typing in the box. You can only see the ones that fit on the page (unless I am missing a way to see them all)?

Confetti - good job on the walking. Do you always start your RM with a salad? I know the book suggests it, but I never do! I am pretty lax on my RM, it is not always balanced, but it still keeps my cravings curbed.

Flower/coxbowen - I hate getting pants hemmed. I am 5'5" and usually get away with not hemming them if I wear heels. I do, however, have pants of different lenghts; ones I wear with heels and ones I wear without! lol

Lucille - I have been losing sleep over my coworkers son too. It is all over the news here (front page of the newspapers) because it was such a freak, tragic accident. He was such a promising athlete too, and so young.

What do you ladies do about that diet mentality when you slip up and don't follow the CAD. Like for example, today I forgot, and took a bite of someones frosty. I have only been back on the plan since Tuesday, so it's sort of normal that I forgot. In the past I would have trashed the rest of my day and binged on something, but today I shrugged it off. Maybe I am getting more laid back with age? lol (I am 34)!

Does anyone watch So You Think You Can Dance? I am watching it now and a guy just auditioned in his undies! lol too funny!

Ema, if I was to slip up, which I have.....I just go on with the plan, if I can, I make that my RM and have something else with it, or just write it off and be careful the rest of the day, and if you still have your RM to go yet, then go ahead and have it. Or make it a cm and wait til tomorrow. Sounds like you have the "afraid of carbs" under control though. I know when I first started out, I still was afraid of carbs, until I found out that they weren't the problem, it was eating too many times in a day, that was the problem. I'm so thankful to have that under control with this plan.

Cindy - that makes sense! I used to have the fear or carbs. Before I found CAD I was on Atkins, and I would always binge if I had one slip-up. CAD really took care of my sugar cravings I guess. It did something for me. I really like that I am not deprived and I love the structure of the one hour RM. You must be near your computer! I have a laptop, so I am usually close! You do the one meal a day, right? Do you get hungry during the day? If so, what do you do?

I just realized I never signed off with my name! My user name is a combination of my daughter's names (Emma and Madison, so EmandM - get it)? lol My name is Pam.

Morning girls!

Wow - lots of posts since I was here last!

Cindy - did you have a good time seeing your grandbaby?

Stephanie - Is it going to warm up your way soon? It's supposed to be 80 here by Monday. I have to say I'm ready for it! It's almost June, it needs to be warmer than 55 degrees! Besides, I won't ever get my tomatoes to grow if it doesn't warm up! I got to harvest some mint leaves yesterday.. put them in some tea... FABULOUS!! I have more strawberries coming in, too. Maybe when it warms up a little I'll get everything growing!

Patty - I'm sorry to hear that you are sad. God bless you, friend!

Gotta run - I'm "at work" now and I brought my laptop in my office so I could read when it's slow. The only problem is, when I'm staring at my laptop it makes me sleepy for some reason. So I think the best thing to do will be to put it away and stand up and stretch or something. Or get more coffee... yeah.. that's what I'll do!

Y'all have a great day.

Still here

Hello everyone, yes I am still here. I have been pouring over all the posts at all the groups on the net.I have been doing low carb for almost a month and CAD for 5 days. I feel great!!. My Rm usually lasts about 30 min. and I find that I am not hungry all evening. I am a tru carb addict! but greatful for this plan. I still drink some of my coffee with cream. The weight loss may be slow( i dont know yet) but I feel so well I will stay on CAD. I did get the calp book and have been balancing my rm.
I have never gotten used to writing on the pc so I have been lurking but today I thought that I would take the plunge, didn't hurt at all. Now you won't be able to shut me up!! lol!! So nice to have all you guys, new.
friends
I have been writing down my menu and will keep track . I will average my weight.I will not eat between meals. I will only eat carbs at rm.
I wish you all a great day and will talk later..BFN----Shelagh

Cindy & Pam thanks for the post about being afraid of carbs vs snacking.. I feel like I have been doing great cutting out the carbs but I do find myself in the fridge once in a while picking a protein. I guess I also lie to myself about how much I am eating.
Work in progress I guess. A frustrating work in progress.
Anyone have advice on how to visit family members on this plan. I am going on a 10 day visit to my brothers home and don't really want to tell anyone about the plan but feel it is something I can stick with...if I try really hard!

Hi Everyone! There always seems to be so much going on here and never enough time to post like I want to! Busy day again today!

I did get out for a nice bike ride yesterday and had no problems at all! I may get out again today but it's quite windy so I'm not sure yet.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Good morning,

Linda, it is really great that you are recovering so nicely. I hope you enjoyed your ride yesterday.

Cindy, nice to hear you enjoyed your visit with your grandson. I hope the weather cooperates and you are able to wear your new shorts soon.

Lucille, pushing a lawnmower is definitely a great workout. Great job sticking to plan.

flower, I am looking forward to getting everything done so I can get back to my normal everyday chores.

Cindy, I love your idea for a pool. I always said if I were to get a pool I would make sure it had a cover so I could use it year round instead of during the summer only.

Stephanie, my vinaigrette comes from a bottle but it is excellent. I was hoping your poison ivy was almost gone and am sorry to hear it is still a problem. Hopefully the medicine you will be getting will help take care of the worst of the itching.

EmandM, if you slip up, try not to think of it that way. Continue with your plan and you will not have to start all over again.

Dana, how are you doing?

Shelagh, I have a record of everything I have done since beginning this WOE. I think writing everything down helps to keep me motivated.

jclairel, the first time I visited my family my Mom complimented me on my weight loss. It wasn't five minutes later that she told me how delicious the chocolate covered strawberries were and to try them. I told her I could eat whatever I wanted but needed to include it with my meal. My Mom accepted my answer but still offers me sugary carbs every time I visit. It is funny how our relatives are the first to mention that we need to lose weight but can be very critical when we try. Good luck in finding your way to deal with your relatives.

Yesterday was exactly as I expected and I worked in the house all day. I expect today will be similar to yesterday but at least I am getting closer to getting everything done.

DH and I completed our Bowflex workout last night and I will begin my 3 mile WATP power walk later this morning.

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: 2 cups of Coffee

CM: Chicken Marsala w/mushrooms & mozzarella, and green beans w/vinaigrette

RM: Salad w/ranch, bacon bits, colby cheese, and shrimp

I took my chromium and drank plenty of water.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning girls!!!

Cool, more people to yak with!!

Shelagh, it's so nice to meet you and I know you can't shut me up, so we're a good pair!! I lurked for a long time on the main board whenI was doing Atkins, but then I found a chanllenge group and started there. The main board can be a ruff place to be. So I'll read there once in awhile. But then I went on cad and Angela and I started this group....and look at how many people we have....

Jen, If you are doing 3 meals a day, then it won't even look like your on anything, cause for breakfast, well thats a natural low carb meal anyway, and for lunch and dinner, just pick one that will fit their plans for the day. If they are having a carby meal say for lunch, then use that for your RM, and just say you want to eat light before bed, so make a cm for dinner. I came right out and told my kids that I was doing one meal a day and in that meal, I get to eat anything I want, and they never batted an eye, they thought it was kinda funny plan, but their not laughing now... And they never gave me any guff about my plan, even today, they will ask if I've ate yet, and if I have, then thats the end of it, they won't push me to eat. Good luck and enjoy your family time!!

Linda, I'm glad your feeling better, now take it easy on that knee!!

Pam, I'm glad you put your name down for us, it's alot easier to remember, hey!! Welcome to the group!! I'm so glad to see your doing well on cad! Yup, I'm at work and I sit at my computer all day unless I have to go see a patient or something. When I'm at home, I'm on alot less. have a good cad day, hun!!

Dana, I did have a good time, he's getting so big, sitting up now on his own!! I'm goint to try to go see my other new grandson...Jesse....as soon as I can, maybe in Sept. or oct. He'll be all grown up before I can get there!! My son is in Iraq and hasen't seen him yet either. So when he gets back I'll go.

Hi to all...........

I'm having the same as yesterday, except the doughnut will be a banana.
I'm at 147.4 this morning, so I'm closing in on my lowest weight. It's about time, it's been two months now!! I need to quit baby'ing byself..

I'll be around and check in later.

Cindy,

It is funny that you would mention dessert because that is exactly why I decided to come back and post for the second time today. I did eat dessert last night and forgot to list it in my RM. My carb was a Haagan Das chocolate ice cream bar and it was delicious as always.

Thank you for the compliment on my daughters artwork. She is 23 and happens to be very artistic. DH and I have tried to convince her to turn her talent into a living but she says she has to be in the mood. DD#1 went to school to become a Taxidermist but she has decided she doesn't want to continue to do it for a living. I keep reminding her she is young and there is no limit to what she can do.

Thats too funny, Teri!! I thought that was being too good!! I would be looking in the cupboards at night if I didn't get my goodies!!
Well, she'll figure it out in time!! Good luck to her!!

I tried to do one meal a day and by 12 I was really hungry, actually pain in my stomach not craving hungry. It was kinda cool, I don't usually let myself get hungry. I ate a steak and a coffee with cream. There now I feel better.I am waiting for a friend and we are going out for fish and chips. I hope they have dessert there.
I went to the gym and did a swim class this morning I hope to do a walk this afternoon.
I find off and on I am getting a little depressed. I don't like it ! I think it is from not eating carbs. Anyone else feel this way ?did it go away?
Gotta go now. thanks guys.....Shelagh

I don't get depressed without carbs if I get in a dessert during my RM..This is very important to me and I'm glad Teri had one. I was getting concerned about such strictness too, Cindy Of course some people are able to leave this out but it really helps me to go until the next RM if I know there will be another day. Great program!!!
