Thanks Lucille. Let me know how you do today. I stayed full yesterday but needed a little snack last night, because I am so use to eating at 5. I hope that will change as I get use to eating at noon instead.

I'll let you know how it goes. I plan on eating at noon. Then If I need something this evening I will have a couple ham and cheese roll-ups.

Had my Rm this morning consisting of hamburger on a bun with Thousand Island, tomato, bun, cheese, strawberries, Cool Whip chocolate cake and a stupid bar that I got from an attempt at LA Weight Loss..Dh asked how I could eat this heavy in the morning and I asked how he could eat that heavy at night....in a nice way of course
![]() I will have protein and salad as needed throughout the day but not much of either and I'm good to go until tomorrow....at which time I expect the scales to oblige. But if they wait a day or two, that's okay too because I'm feeling great and in control. Keep on keeping on everyone!!

Hi all! Thanks for asking, Lucille, it's getting better, slowly! At least the swelling is gone from my face, but boy, is my neck, chest, shoulder, legs, stomach, etc. still really itchy!! I even resorted to putting on my DD's medicine from when she had a horrible case of poison ivy several months ago. Actually, as I type this, I am fighting the intense urge to scratch my neck right now!
MommaPatty, hang in there -- I'm rooting for you! I know how frustrating this can be, but I know you'll get the kinks worked out! I had a delicious RM last night: grilled steak, a big salad (dark greens, cucumbers, peas, onions, sunflower seeds, a handful of croutons, and homemade blue cheese dressing), 2 Gala apples, a handful of "hot wing flavored" pretzel nuggets (love them, but I have a portion control issue with them, so I sent them in with DH today so they won't be a temptation tonight) and a few Jelly Belly jelly beans. My DH, DD(13 -- oldest DD was working) and I went for a 20 minute bike ride yesterday -- that was the first for a long time! I boiled some chicken (good deal -- .49/pound!) so I think I'll make a casserole tonight for supper. Gotta run for now....be back later!

Whoa Stephanie, you paid .49 a pound for chicken? What a phenomenal deal!!! DS and I just got home from grocery shopping. One of several trips this week to get the best deals but we saved a TON today. It rang up as $74 and change, and after all the coupons and the store card we paid only $32! So I have some left in the budget for the next trip. OMGoodness, Stephanie, I just noticed you have lost 105 lbs and you are almost to onederland!!! WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for you!
Patty, I'm glad that your noon RM seems to be working for you. I like to have my RM in the evenings so I can have dinner with my family. When my DH is working late, I like to get my kids fed and have my RM by myself, in front of the TV. I don't get much time to myself so it's nice to just relax and have my dinner. Judy, feeling great and in control is what it's all about! Good for you! Lucille, I hope you do well with your lunchtime RM too. It works for Cindy, just look at her stats! Teri, thanks for checking up on me! I am feeling pretty good today; I think I'm getting used to being up at 2am. It's not so bad once you get used to it! Not sure what I'm making for dinner tonight. Chicken parmesan sounds really good to me! I still have a little time left to decide. OK girls, it's about time to get my DS to preschool. This is his last week in preK. So after Friday it'll be him and me all day. I am looking forward to having him with me. He is a great kid. Y'all have a wonderful day.

Good morning,
Sorry I have no time to chat again today. I wish everyone well and hope to have a bit more time tomorrow. DH and I got our Bowflex workout completed last night and I will begin WATP as soon as I finish my coffee. I need to get WATP done before it gets too hot in here today. DH and I got the bedroom set into our room yesterday and this old body is feeling it. There is still so much to do so as soon as I finish WATP, I need to get started. It is time to get feed for DD#2 horses today so when I am there I am going to get a couple of wine barrels too. We will be using the wine barrels as planters for a few veggies we are going to grow. Since I will be in the town that has a great seafood salad, DH, DD#2, and I will be meeting there tonight for dinner. My menu for yesterday included: CM: 2 cups of coffee RM: (Restaurant) Happy Family plate that included beef, chicken, pork, scallops, shrimp, bamboo shoots, broccoli, cabbage, mushrooms, & water chestnuts over a small amount of pork fried rice Our Chinese food was eaten mid afternoon and since I was not hungry later, I did not eat again. I took my chromium and drank plenty of water. Have a wonderful day!

I am very lethargic today. Maybe I need to skip the sweets, if I eat in the noon meal.

Hi girls...
I had my RM at noon and I am still full. For some reason I always Burp salad after I eat it. I don't know why!? I love salad too. But it's gross burping it for the rest of the day or night, depending on when I eat it. Anyway I had a salad with ham, eggs, cheese, tomatoes and french dressing and a couple croutons, 1/2 of an english muffin pizza and the cheese off of another, a few bites of mac salad, 2 dortios, 1 banana, 2 small scoops of vanilla ice cream and whole milk (milkshake) and a cup of hot tea with half and half and a spoon of sugar. It was very good. I think I will be okay until tomorrow but if not I'll have a roll-up. I am also going to try to find some GTF chromium at one of the vit./natural food stores around here.

So far so good
I think I am averaging 3 CM a day with one RM but I guess it is better than eating crap all day long. This weekend was tough and I stuck to lo-carb CMs but I may have added a beer or three on Saturday. I am amazed at how much more hungry I am the next day if my RM slides past 60 minutes. I think I look better and I certainly feel better but I think I will only be down a pound this week. Better than up a pound I guess.

Hi Jclairel.....nice to see you!! I'm glad your feeling better on this plan, as your body balances more, you'll feel even better and feel in control, that's what I like!! Good for you and keep it up!!
I had my lunch and I had: ribeye, 2 handful chips, dipping sauce, pineapple, candy bar, doughnut, peach iced tea/braggs. I'm full too!! ![]() Lucille, I'm glad to see you get the GTF., as that stuff really helped me with cravings mostly!! I have been forgetting it lately, but I'm still in control of everything, so maybe I have enough in my system to skip a few days. Oh, don't get me started on the salads!!!! I too, burb and heartburn and bloated feelings for two days after a salad!! I just over did salads during my Atkin days and now I don't even want t to look at them...I do have one...once in a great while!! I don't beleive that a person has to have salad to be healthy. Anyway, your doing good!! ![]() Patty, are feeling better? Are you taking the GTF chromium? Maybe that might help? Lucille, when you make that mac salad...add tomatoes in small pieces, that is soooo good!!! The kitchen here at work does that and really, it's good. Hi Flower!! Haven't seen you, hope you had a good week-end!! ![]() O.k., now I have to look like I'm working, so I better go show my face around... ![]() Hi to anyone I missed!!! ![]() Last edited by coxbowen : 05-19-2008 at 02:22 PM. |

I think I am going to stay off of the scale for right now and not let it dictate to me how I am doing... I am going to be adding a lot of exercise, so at least I should lose some inches.

Just a quick hello for now! Busy all day and more to do this evening! I've got 3 different dr. appts. this week (knee, annual exam and surgery follow up!) and I just found out that the pool installers will start working here tomorrow! Food has been on plan, getting back to exercise and I'm down the 5 lbs I was up after surgery plus .2 more! Let's hope the scale keeps heading down now! Looks like everyone is doing great! Hang in there Patty! ![]() |

Hi all!
Girls, it was a manager's special, and what a great price, especially considering the price of groceries now! So, I grilled 2 leg quarters and the rest I de-boned and made a rice/broccoli/chicken casserole for supper. Can't beat the price! Thanks for noticing, Dana -- I almost can't believe it myself! I weigh less now than when I did when I got married almost 19 years ago! I give thanks everyday! How are your plants doing? I had to bring mine in because it's so cold and windy here, but they're calling for warmer weather later this week, so let's hope so! Teri, I bet you're having that salad that you describe -- the one that makes my mouth water! Enjoy your dinner! Thanks, Cindy -- how are you doing? Back in the swing of things? ![]() Hi there, Linda! How are you feeling? Good job on the loss!! Lucille, your meal sounded wonderful to me! I know cucumbers make me burp if I eat the seeds, but lately I've been buying the English cucumbers (long, slender ones, that are wrapped in plastic). They're more expensive, but I eat the whole thing vs. buying regular cucumbers and peeling them, and de-seeding them, so I guess it's worth it! Plus, to me, they taste a lot better, and I love them! Hang in there, JClairel! And one pound lost is great -- they all add up! Hi Flower -- how are you, friend? Well, I hope! ![]() Hi to all you other wonderful friends here too....Barbara, Shirl, Tink (hope you're having a wonderful time!), and all the others! Here's my menu for the day: Lunch (CM): egg salad (2 hard-boiled eggs, mayo, mustard), cheese Supper (RM): grilled chicken, salad (dark greens, cucumbers, peas, sunflower seeds, homemade blue cheese dressing), fresh strawberries, a milk shake (low carb ice cream + whole milk), and a few Jelly Belly jelly beans. I walked outside for 30 minutes today, and got all of my water in. Oh, Dana, I was going to ask you, do you ever print coupons from the net? I saw that you had a substantial savings at the grocery store, and I just wondered if you ever found good coupons online? Do any of you? I have printed several off of the internet, and they've really come in handy! Well, have a wonderful evening, friends! |

Cindy! I've been sorta busy lately and I don't always have the time I'd like to post as much as I'd like to. I wish I could try to have 1 meal a day about noon and be done. I'm just the type that looks forward to a little something in the evening and it's usually a scoop of ice cream. It's too bad I can't just have 1 meal a day and be strong all evening. I know the 1 meal a day thing really works. I've said this before, but my Mom used to eat a late lunch at 2 pm. and nothing else all evening and she worked 3-11s. She wasn't even dieting at that time and lost 80 lbs. in 4 months doing this! And most of her meals were Burger King! I just know if I could eat my biggest meal very early - it would really speed the weight loss! Maybe I could experiment and just try it out tomorrow and see what my results are like.MommaPatty - Sounds great that you're making your RMS at noon and having something light in the evening. Hope it works well for ya!!! I wish so very badly I could have my biggest meal about noon and nothing else all evening - but I always need a little something. Maybe instead of having my biggest meals at 5 pm, maybe I'll try to switch it to noon and then have a protein shake or something light later on. I'm just always afraid if I have my biggest meal too early - that I'll get hungry and just keep eating snacks all night. Good luck to you - and you have motivated me to try having my biggest meal around lunchtime!!! I will try this tomorrow and let you know how it goes. If I do this, and the scale gives me a great loss - I might continue it! Shirl - Thanks for posting that French Dressing recipe!!! I will try it out soon. Stephanie!!! Yeah, I really love making my own salad dressing because I know what's in it -it's fresher, it's much lower in cals, fat and sodium!!!! I'm going to try out that French Dressing recipe that Shirl posted very soon! Can't wait!Lucille - Very yummy noon RM you had! Like I told MommaPatty, I'm going to try a noon RM tomorrow - and then just plan a light protein shake in the evening if needed. I can't wait to see the results on the scale after that. I always feel that the earlier I eat my biggest meal - the better weight loss I have. Teri - I bet you're happy all your furniture is moved! My dh and I were so relieved after moving all the furniture when we changed rooms with our kids. It took me a good week of putting everything back and reorganizing. I was so very happy when it was all finished. I hope everything goes smooth for you and I'm sure you'll be so happy when it's finished. jclairel - Yes, you are right - losing a pound is much better than gaining a pound!!! There have been weeks I have even maintained and said that is much better than gaining, I'll take it! Dana - I certainly know what you mean when you say you like your kids to eat first and then you eat your RM by yourself in front of the tv. I love doing that too!!!! But, I find that by the time I get my work from home business done, my household work done, the kids fed, bathed and put to bed - I was eating my dinners pretty late - sometimes 8-10pm. I knew that was not good to eat my 1 meal a day that late. I know try to make biggest meal about 5 pm and a light snack in the evening. I am going to try out my biggest meal at noon and see how that goes. I'm going to try to have my son take his nap about that time, so that I can have peace and quiet and watch a t.v. show while I eat my biggest meal. Judy - Good for you for sticking up for yourself! If you want to have your RM at breakfast - you do it. I have to stay strong with my dh and do things that are good for me to and not worry to much about it. hello to everyone else I may have missed!!!

Newbie! Can I join too?
Hi ladies,
I have lurked for a bit and finally decided to post. I started the CAD way back in 1998 and did it successfully for ages. I have always been thin (don't hate - it's good genes - lol) but I wanted to lose that extra 10 pounds I'd been carrying around and I did. Fast-forward to now, and I had twin DD's two years ago, and have lost most of my pregnancy weight. But I am pretty sure I have PCOS (I am currently being tested for a bunch of things) or something wrong with my thyroid or some other hormonal imbalance. Anwyay, when researching PCOS I came upon hyperinsulinemia and I remember reading about this when I originally read CAD. So, I am thinking of going back on CAD tomorrow! Here are my questions for you ladies since it has been awhile (I read both CAD and the Lifespan book) but I don't know where they are now so I will have to go searching for them: 1) I drink a cup of coffee (decaf) in the morning with milk and Splenda. I seem to remember having to finish this in 15 minutes? Is that right? 2) I also drink a regular double double with (gasp) sugar that I am not ready to give up yet (nor do I think I am ready to give up the Splenda). If I follow the 2 CM's and 1 RM (within 60 minutes) do you think I can overlook the coffee vices? Thanks in advance and hi to everyone! |

Girls, can I join?
About 8 years ago I did CAD plan and lost 20 lbs which put me at the lowest ever in years. I went from 190 to 169 and felt great. I'm having a really rough time with WW and would like to try CAD again. When I was on CAD I had no cravings at all. At my reward meal I was so full from having no cravings I hardly ate what I wanted at that meal. I lost a ton of weight and felt great. I'm hoping this thread can help me along. I need to get the book again so I can refresh myself. I work from home during the day so the meals shouldn't be a big deal. I remember the first week was the hardest though.... Thanks for letting me join. |

Newbies
I am glad to see some other newbies in the group! Welcome, I have only been doing CAD for a week now and need all the support I can get.
Congrats on the twins....I agree that giving up the coffee is a tough one for us new moms so I am not going to! I only have one cup with cream and I am trying to learn to drink it black and I have forsaken all coffee drinks (bye bye latte!) |

Good morning, all!
Welcome EmandM and DesignsbyBriana! I will look in my book about the coffee question, as I don't drink coffee, so I don't know. And DesignsbyBriana, I agree with you that the first week is the hardest, but give it time, hang in there, and I hope you see the results you are wishing for! EmandM -- congratulations on your twin girls -- ![]() ! I have PCOS, and this plan has been wonderful for me and this condition. Much luck to both of you! ![]() I just finished a CM of egg salad and some cheese. And I walked at the mall for 50 minutes this morning -- yep, it's raining again! Anyone having a Memorial Day picnic this weekend? Making any good recipes, and if so, mind sharing? I'm not sure what we're doing yet, but I'd love to have something here, as long as the weather cooperates! We actually had to light a fire in the furnace last night - believe it or not! And I'm debating on whether or not to start one now, as it's cold in here. Gonna run for now....be back later....Stay on your plans, friends -- being in control feels great!! ![]() |
