Oh my gosh, Patty!!!!! You look so much younger!!!! WOW!! Ya, I like this picture! I do think our meds does some damage to our plan, but once your body gets used to them, then it works again for losing, so hang in there, and if you get hungry, then eat, it's really o.k.! Your doing a super job, Patty!

Thanks, Jen, the thinking is half the battle to weight loss!! I was giving up dieting when I went on cad...literally giving up, I was doing Atkins and couldn't stay on it, so I turned to cad so I wouldn't gain any more, I already new that I could maintain my weight with cad, but didn't think I could lose on it! So, when I first started cad, I was not trying to lose and so my demaner was one of....oh well, at least I won't gain, so there was no pressure to lose. But wow, my first week on cad, I lost 6 pounds and so that encouraged me to move on and continue, I'm so glad I did!!

I'm heading outside to get the last of the sun, it's almost gone, but tomorrow is suppose to be another hot day!!!

Good night girls!!

I guess I DON'T LOOK TOO OLD IN MY PIC FOR BEING ALMOST 61, HEY?

We are getting ready to defog our house of bugs this morning, and we will be headed to town for when we do that.

I found a Scorpion downstairs in our great room while I was cleaned and I killed that thing with a broom.

Well my weight is up 1lb. again this morning. I don't know maybe too many fried foods and salt. Of course like I said, it could be the new medicine, too.

I will be eating very light today. A grilled chicken salad and Toast with butter and Apple Butter for my RM and see, if that will knock me into losing again.

Well I gotta get busy, so I must go. I will check back in later.

Good morning,

Patty, thanks, I appreciate you saying something because it is a real challenge for me since I have always detested exercise. I have heard many times over the years that muscle burns fat so I am trying to prove it. I like the new you with your smile and you also look adorable.

Judy, it is always great when we are feeling in control.

Stephanie, good news about the scale moving in the right direction. I am sure it is exciting for your daughter to be driving on her permit. I hope the weather is nice where you live this weekend so you can enjoy your treasure shopping.

flower, sorry about the 2 lbs. and hoping it goes away as fast as it appeared.

Lucille, good for you for eating when you are hungry. The beauty of this WOE is we can eat and don't have to be hungry. Naturally, I want to get this excess weight off as soon as possible, but experience tells me I will not be able to remain on any plan if I am hungry.

Tink, you are probably in NY now. I hope you enjoy your vacation and are able to spend some quality time with your family.

Dana, exciting news about the strawberry and good luck on the tomatoes.

Cindy, wonderful news about the 1.5 lbs. and the inches lost are fantastic. You must be feeling pretty good about yourself now, enjoy!

jclairel, thanks for the info about the book.

It is getting warm here in California so I have to get my WATP started soon. I plan on getting some much needed house cleaning/organizing done, so if it gets too hot, I am going to choose to indulge in the air conditioning so I can get everything done.

My menu for yesterday included:

CM: 2 cups of Coffee

CM: Tri tip and asparagus w/mayo

RM: Salad w/ranch, avocado, bacon bits, colby cheese, and shrimp

I took my chromium and drank my water.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi!

Oh, a scorpion? I've never seen one before, other than on TV. How big was it, MommaPatty? Good luck with the bug bombs!

I walked for 45 minutes at the mall this morning, as it's raining out today . I did go to a few yard sales (ones that were under tents, and I only got a brand new raft for the pool and a cute little basket to hang by my back door (to hold my iPod). I'm hoping the rain eases by tomorrow -- there are a lot of them listed in the paper!

I'm going to make my own blue cheese dressing for supper tonight; I had a recipe from an old Hellman's Mayo ad from years ago, so I thought I'd give it a try. I've been hungry for a really good blue cheese dressing. Lately, I'm disappointed in bottled dressings, as they don't taste right to me, and plus they contain MSG. I bought Ken's ranch dressing, and had it last night, but I didn't like the taste of it.

I'm almost finished with my steroids for the poison ivy, but my skin is still driving me nuts! It now feels really dry, like I had a bad sunburn. At least the swelling is gone, so that's good!

Gotta run for now....stay on your plans, friends!

Stephanie - That's great that you're going to make your own bleu cheese dressing. I also like to make my own homemade salad dressing. A few good bases I think for any creamy salad dressing is either sour cream, mayo or even plain yogurt. I make my own creamy white dressing and it ends up only being about 30 calories for about 2 T., low in fat and carbs and very low in sodium - only about 10 grams of sodium when I'm done - instead of 200-400 grams of sodium from bottled dressing. Plus, as you mentioned - the MSG. I did read that if you want bottled dressing - Newman's Own is organic and does not have MSG in it. Anyway, I just think it's healthier for us when we can use the freshest ingredients possible and make everything at home ourselves. I try to stick with this as much as possible and it really helps with weight loss. The minute I have restaurant food or fast food or frozen dinners or canned soups, etc. - that's when the scale will go up.

Cindy - That's great you lost even more weight after the high sugar day and potluck! I'm so happy for you!!! And that's so wonderful that you were just doing CAD to maintain and look at you now!!! That's a great story!

MommaPatty - I do love your new picture too! You look great!

Teri - Thanks! From what the scale was saying yesterday - I would have had a nice loss again today if I wouldn't have eaten my dinner so late last night.

I did well by drinking a few protein shakes yesterday and then did the grocery shopping and went to 3 stores - Costco, Aldi's and Jewel. I usually don't go to 3 stores in 1 night like that, but had time to get it done and wanted to. I usually only go to Aldi's every other week and Costco once a month. I do go to Jewel once a week and they're expensive - but they have everything you need. So, I try so hard to get to the cheaper places first and only get needed items at Jewel. Anyway - the shopping took a while and I got back home about 8:30 pm and my husband started cooking after that and we ate at like 10pm. I have been trying to eat my dinner anytime between 4-6 pm and that helps me with weight loss as well. So, because I ate dinner late and he made chicken parmesan with garlic bread and veggies - it had a good amount of sodium from the spaghetti sauce and cheese. Next time, I'll make homemade spaghetti sauce and it will be really low in sodium and be much better for us. It turned out to be a delicious dinner though! But, the scale is still up the same 2 lbs. from the other day. It's totally water weight and I'm not worried. I'll be really good today and on plan and have my early dinner and the scale should be down a few lbs. tomorrow ( I hope!)

what I'm trying out now is that I still follow WW points - but try to have a few protein shakes a day and then a nice balanced dinner. I'm trying to get in more protein to see if that helps with weight loss! I certainly love the feeling of fullness after the protein shakes, so I'm hoping it will help!

Hi girls!~

Stephanie, yes it does feel great to get in the dirt. This year I am planting more than I have before. I have a larger garden and two smaller ones and several flower areas. So here goes, this year I have planted or will be planting: potaotes, green beans, watermelon, different lettuces, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, 3 different kinds of peppers, eggplant, 2 different kinds of regular sized tomatoes, grape tomatoes and yellow pear tomatoes, beets, carrots, spring onions, rhubarb, brussel sprouts, cabbage, dipper gourds, loofah gourds, pumpkin, butternut squash, cantelope, radishes, cukes, zuchhini, giant sunflowers, smaller red sunflowers, ornamental corn, lots of flowers, a few different wildflower mixes, a hummingbird mix, echinacea, black eyed susan, tri color daiseys, verbena, 4 o'clocks, money plant, red and orange poppies, and peonies, a black raspberry bush and my herb garden which has rosemary, thyme, sage, parsley, lavendar, cilantro, dill, garlic chives and reg., chamomile, basil, and lemon verbena. Then I planted Holly Hocks as a back border for my herb and gourd garden. Then I just put some marigolds around the veggie garden to keep insects out. I am a seed saver, so some of these things were from our saved seeds and most of them were heirloom seeds that I got as a birthday present. I started a good amount of these early indoors except for the ones that are direct sow. The peonies and raspberry bush were from my mother's house as she has so many of them so they are transplants. I also have hiacynths, mums, clemetis, azaleas and black-eyed susans that are preanuals. I also have morning glories that keep coming back , I can't get rid of them. Those suckers reseed big time. Well that was a book, sorry! I love to be in the garden. I hope that your skin clears up soon. Have you ever tried Aveno? It works pretty good for poison ivy itch and dry skin.

Flower your plan sounds good.

Patty you definitly don't look 61. I think your hair looks cute pulled back like that.

Hoppinn I know what you mean, It is so hard to stay on a plan for any length of time if you are hungry.

to everyone. Hope you have a good day! I'll be checking in.

Hi Everyone! Love the new avatar, Patty! I am doing great, staying on plan, getting some exercise. I'm impatient to get all the way back to normal but that just takes time. I'm just glad I haven't had any problems since I had the surgery!

DH is home all day today and working on projects while I catch up on dvds. We had hoped to go out for lunch with a gift certificate I had gotten for Mother's Day but it didn't work out. So we had lunch here and it was very good!

Lucille -- WOW!! You weren't kidding about getting some planting done, were you?? I think that is just awesome!! I would love to see pictures of your gardens -- they must be absolutely magnificent!! If you ever care to pass on some gardening tips, please share! I love to learn about gardening -- I'm always looking at sites with this kind of information. Good for you, Lucille!

Flower, I made the dressing in my blender, and the blender cup is sitting in the refrigerator right now. I think Cindy said this, but that is one thing that I have trouble with -- not being able to taste while I cook. So, I left the dressing in the cup, and before I start my RM, I whip it again, and see if it needs any adjustments. I thought about tasting it, but I didn't!! I'll have to look for the Newman's Dressings -- thanks for the tip!! We don't have the grocery stores you mentioned, but we have a Save-A-Lot, which might be similar to Aldi's. I love the Save-A-Lot -- they have terrific deals there -- not too much brand-name stuff, but a lot of the no-name stuff is just as good. However, there are things that I don't buy because they aren't as good as the name brand things.

I think that's wonderful that your DH made dinner for you! I don't like to eat late either, but it happens sometimes.

Linda, I'm glad that you're feeling better!

I made a pizza for my family tonight, but I'm having salad and leftover steak. I am so looking forward to the dressing! I'll let you know how it turns out!

Talk to you all later....

Stephanie - When I first told my husband about my garden plans in February he thought I was crazy, because we usually just have the one garden and some flowers, but he jumped on board as soon as it started getting warm. I love that there is always something to do. my husband has more garden knowledge than me, he was a landscaper for years, we have lots of books though. The last gardening book I read was square foot gardening. have you heard of it? It had some really interesting ideas. Like growing melons and gourds on a trellis to take up less room. I am trying that one. We'll see how it goes. I am really excited about the loofah gourds because it just seems like fun to grow your own shower sponge, ya know? This is my first year growing brussels too so I hope that they turn out good. I also am growing celery for the first time this year too. I forgot to mention that earlier. So it will be interesting to see how that grows. Sometimes we enter things in the town fair. We won first place for one of our pumpkins a few years ago and a few other ribbons. It was alot of fun. I'll definitely post garden pics and quilt pics as they come along.

Linda - I am glad you are recovering nicely. Way to go staying on plan!

I also wanted to say that I often make my own salad dressing. My favorite way is to use mostly mayo, add some cream, a little lemon juice and salt, pepper, garlic and parsley and sometimes for a change I'll add dill. For some reason commercial dressings haven't been tasting as good to me either. But French is my favorite and I haven't come up with a good homemade version of french yet.

Lucille My Henry and I use to love French dressing when we first got Married. That is all we ate for a long time. Them Mommy got us to eating homemade Ranch Dressing with the Buttermilk in it, when it first came out. I think the homemade Ranch Dressing with Buttermilk is much better then the one you make with milk these days...

Well, the dressing turned out wonderfully, and I was so pleased and so satisfied with my RM. I had a big salad (English cucumbers, green leaf lettuce, purple onion, a handful of thawed out peas (yum!!)) homemade blue cheese dressing, leftover steak, some shrimp sauteed in butter, an apple, a bag of microwave kettle corn popcorn, a tiny portion of a piece of pizza, 1/2 cup of whole milk, and a hard candy. I walked for 45 minutes this morning, and I've gotten in all of my water too.

Lucille, I'm going to grow my melons and my zucchinis on trellises this year too (or at least give it a try). I will be planting tomatoes, zucchinis, watermelons (sugarbabies), peas, green beans, lettuce, spinach, eggplant, dill, parsley, acorn squash, pumpkins, cucumbers, and corn. I am also planting marigolds around the border of my garden, and zinnias too. Oh, also sunflowers -- love them!! I bought some other flower seeds at the dollar store too (.10 a pack!) so they'll go in as well. I have started my pumpkins, zucchinis, acorn squash, watermelons, eggplant, tomatoes, dill, and parsley in newspaper cups so I can plant the whole container right into the ground. I actually had to transfer the pumpkins into bigger newspaper cups, as they've grown so big!! I can't wait to get out there and actually plant the garden! I have a lot of transplanting to do too -- my hostas have gotten so big, so it's time to break them up and move them around my rock gardens. I just love hostas -- they are such a beautiful perennial.

That's my next homemade dressing -- buttermilk ranch. I bought the buttermilk today, so I'll be looking for a good recipe.

Have a wonderful evening, friends! Take care of yourselves, and stay on your plans -- being in control feels wonderful! Talk to you later....

Patty I will have to try to make the buttermilk ranch, I don't buy too much buttermilk but do likeit in for my buttermilk biscuits. So I'll have to get some. Oh yeah I wanted to tell you that I thought of you today when I was at the store because I bought some Spam!

Stephanie - Let me know how the trellis' work out. I'll let you know too. Sounds like you have lots of good stuff too. I have used some of those dollar store seeds before and they grew good. I think they were zucchini and yellow squash. I saw an article about the news paper cups, I'll have to try that next year. Hostas are nice. Someone was giving away some for free in the paper this week. I thought that was neat.

I'm so glad to see that everyone is doing well. I just popped in to say good night! I know it's early but my kids are upstairs, DH is working late, and so I am going to bed. YAY. I asked my kids to please not wake me up in the morning if they can help it. DD is 12 so she can get breakfast for herself and DS who is 4. Now if they can just keep from yelling at each other..

Bad food day for me. I know it's just because I am so tired. My determination just goes out the window when I get so tired. So I'm sure I'll have gained those 3 lbs back and I'll spend next week taking them back off! Oh, when will I ever learn? Ah, well... tomorrow's a new day!

Well I blew it this evening girls. I wanted cereal so bad that I went and ate some anyway. It has been a very stressful day for me. This is the first time that I have failed in 9 days. I am kicking myself all the way to bed. There's always tomorrow...

Hi girls, I know it's late, but I had a nice day outside, it was in the mid 90's and that is so unusal for us, so I enjoyed it to the max. I also had a BBQ at work, where I took a pinapple cake to it, now that was good, it had vannilla pudding in it and cool whip and pinapple, made with a boxed yellow cake. I'll make that one again. I know the cool whip is bad, so next time I'll make my own.

Oh and speaking of ups and downs on the scale, after just a shake and a handful of chips yesterday...I was up a pound today, so it just goes to show you not to let the scale tell you too much. I know it'll come back down.

I had a hamburger and a hot dog with all the trimmings, potato salad, macaroni salad, chips, cake, cookie, 2 mini candy bars. That was my lunch for today, and tomorrow I think I'll do a ribeye, cook it just before I leave for work. I like to take Italian dressing and mix in mustard, deli style, that makes a good dipping sauce for my steak. I'll leave the rest up to the kitchen and see what they are having for sides.

I really made a dent in my checking account with QVC and Bare Minerals!!! Ouch!! But I love to play with my make-up! I love the smokey eyes look.

I'll get on my bike for an hour, then to bed....see you all tomorrow!!
