Yeah, I always pronounced it aniss, too, but I've heard it pronounced aneece. I believe the Webster's Dict pronunciation is aniss, so I'm with you. It's aniss! Hi Mary and welcome! Glad you're here. I have recipes for salad dressings made with sour cream and Hellman's mayo. Actually, you can take the base and make just about anything you like. Also, instead of the 1/2:1/2 cup ratios, you can increase the quantity and use any 1:1 ratio of sour cream to mayo. Just remember to increase the ratios of the other ingredients. EnjoyWhite French Dressing 1/2 cup sour cream 1/2 cup Hellman's 3 large cloves garlic (press) 1/4 cup lemon juice 1/4 cup wine vinegar 1/4 tsp salt 1/8 tsp pepper Mix all ingredients. Adjust lemon juice, vinegar, s&p to taste. Bleu Cheese Dressing 1/2 cup sour cream 1/2 cup Hellman's 1 T Worcesteshire Sauce 2 tsp Tabasco 1/4 - 1/2 cup lemon juice 1/4 lb bleu cheese crumbled, or any amount to your liking. salt & pepper to taste Mix all ingredients. Adjust lemon juice, s&p, Worcesteshire and Tabasco to taste

Shon - could you make those with just mayo or do you need the sour cream?

I've never tried it with just the mayo, but give it a shot. I would just cut back on the salt 'cuz the Hellman's is kinda on the salty side. I think the sour cream helps cut the heaviness of the mayo. But maybe the lemon juice and vinegar would do that. Let us know how it works. ![]() |

Hey, MK, did you get all your stuff done for tomorrow? ![]() Our company cancelled - seems they have a virus of some kind, so we're now doing nothing! Actually, I'm somewhat relieved - dh and I have been so busy the last few weeks that I think we're going to enjoy a "veg" day. And the weather is supposed to be nice, so we'll probably just have dinner on the deck. I guess when I made the invite I was "in the moment". They're really nice people and it would have been fun, but I'm just as happy to be taking some time to wind down. I'll go to see my sister a couple of times this week and I know those will be some long days. But she will need some help and I want to see her. Hope you have fun with all your company. ![]() |

It cleared up here about 4:30!
Took DS19 to get a new phone - a Blackjack. Made the kids pancakes and sausages for dinner - I just had sausages. Now - do I clean or watch a movie?? Our company is still coming - of course i invited about 8 couples so even if one canceled . . . . I hope it's sunny here tomorrow - I really don't want everyone inside! |

Hi gang..
Well, dear ones, Betty died 7 pm Saturday night. Glen (G's bro) and his wife came from Wichita hours before she died as well as her sister in law Leta and her son from KCity. Betty was really ready to go home and while the family had taken a break at my house, we got the call to come, so Gary/Brett/Glen went and she died right before they got there. So..today was cleaning out her room (not hard to do), going to the funeral home, and talking to the pastor. Services at 2 pm on Tuesday..Tomorrow we are going to "crash here"..Company went back home and we will meet at the church for the family meal (chicken and noodles and chocolate pie). So...thanks for your prayers and thoughts. I think we have a nice funeral planned and although it might rain, it's okay... Weight was a bit up..(it probably was the cheesey lasagne).. Hugs to everyone..Hi Moretta.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers..It is raining like cats and dogs here and supposed to do the same tomorrow. Betty never liked to go out in the rain (really), so I hope it clears up while they bury her. Our family is doing fine. Brett (20) was with his grandma shortly after she died and did the "whole funeral" prep with us yesterday. I showed him the little box that I wanted my ashes to go into..I hope he remembers.
Amazingly, I am not gaining tons of weight right now. Weigh-in is June 1st and I am hoping to be still in the 142's...(although I may relent and have some chicken/noodles tomorrow at the funeral dinner). Hugs to you all................. |

Carolyn
and personally, I'm so glad Betty went swiftly and seemingly peacefully without a lot of commotion or whoopla! I'm glad Gary had the time with her and you as well and of course Brett, because in the coming years that will mean the most to each of you! and I will lift your family up in my prayers.Sandy as well and I am saying prayers for you and your mom as well. Siblings can be the dickens. I sure can't offer much useful advice except do what means the most to you and forget about all the other stuff. Cuz resentment is a cancer and in the end all you need to feel is that you did everything in your power to be there and be helpful and honorable as a child. God will know that and I believe peace will inevitably follow if you allow God to work his "magic".Shon how sweet of you to say prayers at Mass! I too am Catholic. Your recipes sound divine and I personally can't wait to try the White French dressing and also the artichoke casserole!!! Yummy!Welcome Mary!Zilla ![]() MK sounds like so much fun at your place sweetie! Have a blast! All you mid-westerners, please stay safe and listen for the whether warnings about tornadoes!!!! again to all and Happy blessed Memorial Day to you all!

Thanks, Poot..Betty had been ready to go for weeks..so that is reassuring..
Confession time: I just made a high carb Red Velvet Cake for tomorrow's family dinner. It's my binlaw's favorite. I called the lady doing the dinner to inform her I was bringing it as I didn't want to "insult their cooking"..I do think the frosting could be easily made LC.. |

Oh Carolyn, I am so sorry, but I too, understand that she seemed "ready" and it truly does sound like she went in peace and I am thankful for that for you and your family. BIG, BIG, BIG {hugs} to you and yours.
Well, gang, I have been at LC for a loooooooooong while now. I started in '03 and was truly, seriously dedicated/borderline obsessed. Then I got pregnant, consciously ate another way and have been back to LC for a year now trying to stay on the wagon. I havent done well and have lowered calories toom uch and generally made a mess of things. Now I am training for a marathon and I have made the decision to experiment a little with my eating, see if I can jolt my body a bit or something. I am giving it two weeks or so and I will keep you posted... Hope everyone had a beautiful Memorial Days weekend.

Carolyn, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. And I do hope the rain stops for her funeral for her sake. It's funny how you think of things like that isn't it? I'm glad she went peacefully and that Brett was here to see her before she passed. And I'm sure he'll remember exactly where your box is when he needs to. You should also share that info with Beth. One of them will remember for sure. But that won't be for a very long time.
My sister is coming in tonight. Mom is still very weak but hanging on. I thought she was a bit better this a.m. but it didn't last very long. I really don't know if she's strong enough to get home or if hospice will take her in this weak of a condition. I sure hope so. This week hopefully we'll get everything settled and organized with hospice. Thanks for all the prayers and support. It's very appreciated during this very trying time. I'm at my wit's end dealing with hospitals. I found out Mom's advance directive wishes weren't even put into her chart. I would think in this computer world we live in that her information would be entered and shared over her whole network of medical personnel, but I guess not. We have to continually keep telling people about it and some of them actually act like there's something wrong with us when we do. I'm tired, really tired, so I'll try to catch up more later.

Hi!
The party was great! The last guest just left a few minutes ago and most of the back yard is cleaned up - it's so dark out there! I'll finish in the morning and hope it doesn't rain tonight. The rain cleared up and it turned into a beautiful day. ![]() DS19 still has a few friends downstairs but besides that, we're all in for the night! Carolyn - for you!Sandy - you too! ![]() These are really trying times! See you all in the morning! |

Morning!
Short night! I had to be up at 5:30 because DS15 swim team starts at 6:30 - 9:00 this week. I think I'm excited for him to go to Europe - I'll get to sleep in more! I'm going to hop in the shower before DH gets back! BBL! |

Hi ladies..
I think this will be a OffPlan day, with "portion control"... I have pre-thought it over..Can't insult those little Methodist women and their chicken and noodles and chocolate pie, can I?Sandy: My goodness, I am so sorry that your mom is so weak. I can't imagine that they will send her home in her weakened state. You do have a "hospice" place where people can live? (much better than a nursing home). I'm sure she is on oxygen, isn't she? That helped Betty a bit, but her old heart was as strong as an ox..just her lungs were bad. I'm glad your sister was coming home...And it is important for the hospital to know the directives. Betty had a DNR..and she had it for a long time. The weather is pretty dark right now. Oh well..maybe the rain will break for the 30 minutes we are up at the cemetery. That is my prayer for today. We ate out at the Sirloin Stockade last night..It was good for us to get out of the house even though we had to dodge some flooded roads. Will definitely catch up tomorrow..Hugs to all you dear friends. |
