I'm fighting the blues, but they seem to be winning at the moment -- hence the lack of posts. I do *not* want to come here and do nothing but whine and mope.

Love the groggy kitten. I feel just like that today. Have had one cup of coffee, and made myself eat some bacon, but still suffering from brain fog. I'm slightly less fuzzy, and much less cute, though. I do have whiskers, alas!

It's a bit cool here, too. A/C already?! Boy howdy... I'm actually looking forward to warm weather, but in Iowa, we so often seem to have maybe a week of "pleasantly warm," and then hop right into "too damn hot." So maybe I should appreciate the cool spring weather while I have it.
Hi Lene, I know what you mean about the blues - they ain't very much fun. This is JUST the place to come and unload - we have all been in that funk before. It's been going on with me for quite sometime, but sharing my thoughts here was just what I needed. At least we can maybe give you some comfort and support. I know everyone here has done that for me.
And playing pass the baby yesterday was so uplifting. And he just smells so sweet - I just wanted to stick my nose in his little neck and sniff forever! You're right about the weather, too. It's been cool here in Ohio, but I hesitate to complain too much 'cuz we go from nice to stupidly hot in an instant! And I'm not a hot weather person.

I'm not a hot weather person, either. Pale-skin, and I get ill in the heat.

Jeff and Danny laugh at me 'cause I like to sniff babies, too! Actually, not just babies... whenever I hug one of the guys, I take a deep breath in, imprinting their scent into my memory. Never even really thought about it til they noticed and laughed at me. <g>

Gosh Lene, maybe you're a member of our family! We are all sniffers, too - babies a just the best, though. But hey, let 'em laugh - there's nothin' like a good scented sniff!

I was right. Mom is back in the hospital. For pneumonia again and pain mgmt. Revolving door for her this year. My brother handled all the details this a.m. and I guess I'll do the late shift and make sure my dad has a way home.

Hi gang,

Sandy: Sorry to hear about your mom and pneumonia..That is a big bummer. Since little tiny Betty is on hospice, she won't be going to the hospital if she gets "anything"..She doesn't want to go back to the hospital, so we will respect that. Glad your brother "took charge" this a.m...

Zilla: You make, you eat it LOL

Prozak: Yeah, on your skirt!!!

Shon: Good for you on passing on the "cake" but enjoying passing the baby. Babies are fun, aren't they? I cannot have caffeine past noon or I'm up all night.

Lene: I just bought some baby powder to powder my sandals so my feet don't sweat..so I smell like a baby, too..(sort of)

Hi MaryKay and any Barry lady I forgot..............duh..

I love your sense of humor!!

And feel free to come here to "whine & mope"!
We all understand!

I was so on top of things today.
Even left early enough to get to the library and drop off books before my meeting.
I get out of the car and the lady next to me says: "Did you know you have a flat tire!?!"

Can't DH on the phone. I'm looking too cute to change it myself.
So . . . .

Call DD21, she picks me up in her car. I take her home, then drive across town to my meeting where 32 lovely ladies are waiting for me!
At least I know they can't start without me!

The car is still down there in the '1-hour parking' spot.
I guess I should drive it home on the spare and then deal with it.

And how was everyone else's day??

Caorlyn, I don't care how much powder you use, I am not smelling your feet! :P

Poor Sandy...I am so glad your brother is the helpful sort. It would not be the case if my mom were sick. My sister would help, sure, but brother? Yikes!!!

MK...too cute to change your flat? I will have to remember that next time something happens with the car. The guys know I can handle most things by myself so tend to let me do it on my own. "Sorry...I need you to do it this time. I am WAY to cute today!" Bwaa haa haa!

Has anyone reversed type 2 diabetes with lc?

if anyone is making or planning on making this yummy cheesecake.. I did a few switch ups to make it even better for us.

I subbed the splenda for Xylitol and stevia (3/4TBS Xylitol and keep adding stevia until sweet enough)

THEN, for the topping, I traded out the sour cream for full fat (6%MF) Balkan Style plain yogurt. Nobody can tell the difference and everyone, including my 8 month old can enjoy it

breakfast tomorrow! (with a side of watermelon slice yummy)

Hi gang,

Zilla: Now...............

Mary Kay: I hate flat tires. But, it is better it happened when you were parked, rather than driving down the road..And looking cute comes in handy sometimes..

Prozak: I am going to try the cheesecake soon. I still have my flourless chocolate and pineapple cakes to eat up..(I have a piece for breakie).

My Lawrence gfriend weekend is coming up..I'll be gone Thursday-Saturday. Gary isn't going to Sweden, so he will be home next week. We never know what will happen to little Betty. She is pretty "quiet" and just mumbles. It's so sad to see that..Gosh..it's not the way I would want to be. I'll stop by tomorrow morning. She has been sleeping so much, but does still go to the dining room for meals and eats her meals.

what was I thinking . . . . I invited a bunch of people over for Memorial Day . . . for a cookout!

Morning MK - coffee's brewing. We don't have any plans for Memorial Day - yet. But I know what you mean when you say "what was I thinking". It just always seems like a good idea at the time, then closer to the day I could kick myself. Does everyone at least bring something? or maybe everything? That would work!

Sandy, sorry to hear about you mom. Hope they can knock out that pneumonia soon. Continuing prayers.

Carolyn, still praying for Betty, too. These elderly folks have a hard enough time, then these ailments.

Hi Lene, WifeZ and Prozak, and anyone I missed. Does anyone know where Poot is? Hope she's ok.

Full agenda today. Haircut this am, and my 6-month pregnant baby sister is in the hospital with a kidney stone, so I'll drive up to Cleveland to see her. She's had a really rough time - we're just hoping to get her to at least 8-months before she delivers. She's 44 and has a 4y/o son who was 6wks premie - 3 miscarriages before him and 3 after when she got pregnant with this one. It's a little girl and we're all so excited. Please keep her in your prayers.

Well, I'll touch base later. Everyone have a great day.

Shon I feel really bad for your sister, I had them too with my first pregnancy at 8 months and then 3X again in the 4 months after she was born (they finally gave me a stent to stretch the ureter and it came out on it's own). There really is nothing like a kidney stone, in fact they thought i was in labor the kidney contractions were showing up in the fetal monitor!

Tell her to stay hydrated.. i drank corn husk tea by the gallon and ate asparagus like it was going out of style.. I have no idea if it helped though

Tuscany, the recipe is in the link in my post... i have been perfecting this cheesecake since my last time on low-carb and it has become a staple in my house.

back up to 192.5... I feel a little bloated in my bladder area, I had about 1/3 of a piece of bread in french toast yesterday maybe that is why? And definitely not enough water.

My book should be here today accodring to amazon.ca, it is cooler and windy and my 2 ODD's are at school so it is a great day to read.

Jenna slept through the night AGAIN (3 nights in a row) I swear by the EVCO in her bottles.. and last night she was up rocking on her hands and knees, I suspect by next week she will be crawling!

Missed this earlier. Lene, have you ever had your vitamin D levels tested? If you are pasty and avoid the sun, you are most likely VERY deprived. I started taking D3 in January, and now that Summer is here (mostly), I can actually go out in the sun without bursting in to flames and I am much more tolerant of the heat.

Just yesterday I was sitting in the office and thought it was a tad warm, so I went to check the AC settings. The temp was 85!!! In the past, anything more than 75 and I would be miserable and sweating like mad.

See MK, this is the deal...

It ISN'T bad for you....IF you are not eating lots of carbs and not burning. In several countries, the "stay out of the sun, make sure you use lots of sun screen" campaigns have resulted in MORE cases of cancer instead of fewer!

When you eat a lot of carbs, your body gets depleted of vitamin C (among other things) and vitamin C is what helps your body repair sun damage. Vitamin D can prevent cancer and the fortification in foods is a pathetically small amount.

There is also a tie between low vitamin d levels and obesity, heart disease and diabetes.

I am of the camp that we don't get enough sun!

I agree it causes skin damage.. but it is a protective measure, and IMO I would rather be healthy and wrinkly.

I abhor sunscreen... I don't think it is doing anyone any good. We NEED that vitD and the suncreens are blocking that too.

Slather on the EVCO, it can help to reduce sun damage (maybe even lessen those liver spots) add some stevia and xylitol and reap the benefits of those too!

(stevia promotes healing of acne, excema and other skin issues... xylitol has been show to increase the collagen and skin thickness in rats plus it promotes a lower overall ph which is cancer preventative and good for oral health!)

I started a thread called SKIN CANDY in the main forum, check it out:

Skin candy! Why not treat your skin as well as your body?

High 5 'zilla!

I make sure my 8 month old gets 20 minutes of direct sun every day... and am a fan of using a full spectrum lamp in the winter months (we live in the North...)

I just cannot imagine that our bodies could possibly use synthetic or man made vidD supplements the same way it would directly from the source we have been getting it from for eons.

Barry Groves promotes the sun, he even has links for people who might want to rent their own tanning beds! He also says that people who DO get sunlight and DO get skin cancer, for the most part get it on the parts of their bodies that DO NOT SEE the sun
