Sorry to hear about the hard time so many of you had over the weekend. Weekends are hard for me too.
We generally go to a friend's house for Sunday dinner, so that makes it just about impossible these days to take a Refeed then. Even though that's when most people do one. When I was doing my version of Kimkins, my friend would ALWAYS cook lean meats and veggies/salad for me. But when I started PSMFing, somehow she got it into her head that because I took ONE weekend off, ONE TIME, (that initial 4 day weekend carb up for Valentine's Day when my husband took me out for pizza) that I wasn't doing low carb anymore. When I began my real PSMFing round "before", I wanted to Refeed on Saturday. That way if we had the money to go out, I could get something normal like rice or potatoes with my meal instead of cottage cheese on the side all the time. Or I could stay home and cook something "I" really really LIKE and MISS that isn't normally on my plan, like tacos with real corn tortillas or have low-fat goodies like fig newtons, cheetos, (I have individualized 1oz bags that are only 10g fat each), raisin bread, etc. But then Sunday dinner would roll around, and the table would be loaded with pasta, bread, enchilada casserole, cheesecake, carrot cake, or what have you, and I'd just blow everything because the only alternative would be to go hungry all day until we went home. Or eat just a bowl of salad with salad spray (when and if that was available, which hasn't been in several weeks now anyways) -- which quite honestly...isn't going to work for me. So then I tried using Sunday as my Refeed day, but that didn't work either, because I wasn't eating as low in fat as I should have been, plus I had to cram sooooo many carbs down myself when we got home, that it wasn't very effective and I crashed and burned in mid-week. Like so many of you, my weekend smashed into real life. It almost always does though. Saturday morning, my husband wanted to go out for breakfast. So I had a low carb spanish omelet (ham, veggies, real cheese, whole eggs, salsa), with cottage cheese on the side, since it was the CLOSEST thing (lowest in fat) I could get. Ordinarily, since my husband LOVES breakfast, I do whole eggs on the weekends anyways, so it really wasn't that much of a detour for me. Except that when "I'M" doing the cooking, I can at least make it quite a bit lower in fat. So my weight loss stalled from that. This time, I thought I'd use Sunday for one of my free meals, (even though I really didn't WANT to, since you could really consider Saturday morning to have been a free meal since it was whole eggs) but load up on a protein shake made with 1/2 cup cottage cheese before we left, since there quite often isn't very much protein served, and I thought that way, I would be tempted to eat very little. My husband wasn't feeling well though, and really didn't WANT to stay for dinner. So we left early, so he could come home and go to bed. I baked myself a large chicken breast with a can of green beans, and figured I'd just take a free meal later on in the week instead. I didn't think my husband would be eating anything, since he said that his stomach was upset. But after a short nap, he said he felt much, MUCH better, so I ended up sharing my chicken and green beans with him, cutting a slice of raisin-apple bread we still had left, and having a large bowl of ice cream (which HE dished up for me, which is why it was so large) for dessert. On top of that, I didn't sleep well last night. I was up at 3am. Which really wasn't all that unusual for me, since I do suffer with lots of seratonin issues when doing a psmf. But that wasn't what was going on this time. I've been trying to do this as a Category 3, since my tanita-like scale says I'm at 30% body fat but Lyle's calculator places me at 43. Without doing real Refeeds, I know the weight/fat would come off FASTER, since I still have around 50 pounds to lose, so that's why I was trying to do it the other way. But this morning, I realized that it really isn't going to work because I can FEEL my Leptin levels crashing again. All of those ugly symptoms are back again. Plus more. So...I guess it really doesn't MATTER 'what' my body fat percentage is, I can't do this without a weekly refeed, so I'm going to do this as if I were a Category 2 and refeed come tomorrow. Then move it to Wednesday the following week, so I can still do my free meal on Sunday. 4-21 180.4 4-28 174.8 4-22 177 4-23 176.2 4-24 174.6 FM 4-25 175.2 4-26 174.4 4-27 174.4 FM |

Susan~ have you ever tried taking Melatonin for your sleep issues?? We use it for my son who suffers from Childhood Insomnia and it has made all the difference in the world. I think like with ANY plan, you need to find what works best for you.
Did a quick little shopping last night and picked up bare necessities to get by for a couple of days. Also trying out new protein powder- Any Whey- anyone try it. Suppose to be a lot more "tasteless" than other brands. I'll let you know today. Here's my menu: 1) Protein Shake w/ 1 scoop PP 2) 2 EW 3 Jenny-O turkey bacon 3) 3 oz chicken, 1 Tbls light miracle whip, mini LC pita, lettuce 4)1/2C lowfat cottage cheese, 1/2 scoop PP 5)4 oz Turkey burger w/ FF cheese, lettuce tomato, 1 Tbls Heinz 1 ketchup, mustard Totals: 584 cals 6f/17c/109p

Right now I feel like I could do this forever but I know I get to a point where I need to take a break. ddaily- let us know about the PP, I am scared to try it!

oops...just realized I addressed my post to Suzan instead of Vickie!!
Fifi~ I wouldn't be frowning too much! Down 4 pounds in just over a week with tom!! Jana~ I tried the new PP in my EAS Advantage Shake and it definitely seemed to alter the taste less than the Designer Whey protein (which while not horrible did have a certain taste to it). I like the Any Whey better! at 70 calories 0f/1c/17p you can't go wrong! I have trouble eating the required protein, so drinking it is just easier (not to mention convienent) for me! |

Hey, that's okay, I knew you meant Vickie, not Susan lol. I have taken Melatonin now and then, when I have too many sleepless nights in a row. But it doesn't always work for me. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it's only good for about 4 hours of HARD sleep, (even with 6mg) then I'm up again. It doesn't work at all when I'm doing psmf. Only carbs do.
I don't do aspartame anymore. I used to have LOTS of insomnia when I was drinking a lot of diet Dr. Pepper. Now I only do Splenda stuff. BUT I forget sometimes, like how other diet products have that in there. Jello for instance. Since I upped my carbs last night, in order to feel better until after today's refeed, I did sleep all night. I'm feeling particularly TIRED today. But then, my body is trying to fight off a Vertigo attack. We seem to have a storm heading our way... |

...another bonus of PSMF?! I'll know more tomorrow. Speaking/typing of tomorrow: free meal day!!!!!!!! Can't wait (insert disco smilie here!) Jana ~ Hang in there! You know this is water because you have SEEN that magic number just a few days ago! Lioness ~ hope you are feeling better soon! Ddailey ~ I'm going to try a Jenny O turkey burger tonight myself. I like your idea of the pita...but I'm afraid it will set me off...I love me some french breach and dipping oil... ![]() |

I get the Joseph's LC pitas...I just found little mini ones which is even better. I get them at Stop & Shop or Shaw's near the Deli Section. Here are their stats:
Joseph's Flax, Oat Bran & Whole Wheat Flour Pita Bread: NO Trans Fats NO Cholesterol High Protein Reduced Carb 1 Pita = Calories: 45 Total Fat: 1 g Total Carbs: 8g Dietary Fiber: 4g Protein: 5g These are also awsome to cut up into triangles, toast and use as chips for salsa, or crumble up in a taco salad! I'm down to 161.2 today, so down another .2 (does that even count?!?)
I've been doing this almost 4 weeks and it's starting to get to me a little bit. The refeed helped, and TOM is ending and my sinus infection is starting to get better, so hopefully I'll be able to hang on for a few more weeks before a break. I really want to see 15x before my break! Also, I'm planning to try a longer high carb refeed (1 5 hour window, plus 1 day "eat whatever I want" followed by at least a week of high calorie/ high fat Atkins 72 type eating. I can't eat 100gC or more everyday, just can't do it... ) Anyone else try cycling or breaking with Atkins rather than Lyle's recommendation? Jana, hmm, other than potty problems I can't think of anything else. Do you take measurements? Adding muscle through exercise? Lead fillings in your teeth? j/k Vickie, I'm feeling pretty tired, too! Fifi, you are doing great. Argh, my eyes are drooping. I'll try to be back tomorrow!

ugh...still up 2.5 from my not-so-on-plan eating over the weekend and Monday. I have a feeling that TOM is lurking as well. Not that I am totally convinced my scale is 100% accurate, but it does say I am down another 1% body fat- you won't hear any arguments from me!! LOL
![]() Can't believe April is nearly over. That means I am roughly 1 month away from my first mini goal (youngest daughter's 2nd b-day). *AACK* I would like to be down about 14 pounds by then (weight when I found out I was pregnant wit her) But honestly, at this point I am just as much if not more concerned with inches and fat loss. My Menu EAS Shake w/ PP .5C lowfat Cottage Cheese, PP, 2 oz strawberries, splenda 2 Turkey Bacon, 1 oz tomoato, Lettuce, .5T light miracle whip 4 oz bumblebee herb chicken, 1C broccoli 1/2 EAS shake Totals: 585 9f/16c/103p Have a great day all!! |

Good morning everyone
Diva- I should try the asparagus.. mmm! I love them. A good way to prepare them while psmf-ing is blanch them for 3-4 minutes and then sautee them in some pam and dijon mustard. YUM. My refeed went well, and I'm feeling sooooo much better today. Lots of energy this morning. I really do better on carbs. I was able to do a whole set of everything (well, the basic stuff, not the advanced stuff yet) in Lyle's beginner exercise program. I did only 3 squats though, plus 3 advanced split type squats cuz when I tried to do 6 last week, I was very sore for a week.
I realized this morning that I should have started psmf-ing on a Wednesday, not a Monday, and that's why I've been having such a hard time. Cuz when the symptoms appeared, I couldn't DO anything about it until yesterday. So next time, that's what I'll do. Start in mid-week. I'm up only 2.6 pounds from my full-day refeed, and no bloating whatsoever: Day 1: 180.4 Day 2: 177 Day 3: 176.2 Day 4: 174.6 FM Day 5: 175.2 Day 6: 174.4 Day 7: 174.4 FM Day 8: 174.8 FM Day 9: 174.8 Refeed Day 10: 177.4 |

I had my 1st weigh in last night at my diet doctor.
4-22-08 202.01 / BF%33.8/ Fat% 36.1 4-29-08 191.01 / BF%29.0/ Fat% 33.8 I know~11 pounds! I was freaking out. Now, remember, I am under the care of a physician and he has me on mega vitamins and 2 injections/twice a week. I also had jeans on in my first weigh in and much lighter shorts on during this week's weigh in. I was VERY carbed up from weeks of eating serious crap and hardly any water. Anyways~no bashing please. I am being sensible and this week adding in more veggies and good carbs but also starting to walk.

![]() Well, over the years, I've seen people get jumped on for losing too quickly. We are all here to support each other, but at the same time people tend to forget that. ![]() I've been eating around 800 calories a day, 6 "feeds" a day, all protein, low fat, fish, chicken, tuna. Water, decaf tea, crystal light. Like I said, I wouldn't be doing this without the "MIC" (Methionine, Inositol, Choline) supplement and B6 supplement from my doctor. Because I'm not doing "refeeds" right now, so I don't want to screw up my metabolism. I usually find that 15 pounds is size smaller! BTW, your little one in your avatar is adorable! ![]() |
