Hi Everybody!

Oh no, its monday again.....well, I didn't do to well on the weekend- I went to the b-day party on saturday and ate a few slices of pizza, some wings, a small piece of cake and some ice cream- I did pretty good on Sunday, but, I will not weigh myself till tomorow- Today I am having 1 cup of ff cottage, cheese, 1 sliced tomatoe, and 8 oz. london broil- total of 673 calories, 15 grms fat and 11 carbs.....I probably should add some veggies in with dinner...still hoping I will be out of the 220's by the weekend- Memorial day weekend- it will be tough to stick to plan on the holiday- it is so much easier during the work week -

Ok ladies- have a great day and stay strong!

Morning All...ummm, I guess I mean afternoon!

Hope everyone had a good weekend! I was so busy, but happy to say that I finally finished my patio!!! THANK GOODNESS- I don't think my legs, back, arms or knees could take laying anymore patio blocks! We went to Lowes yesterday to pick up patio furniture. Ended up buying 2 chairs, 2 small tables, had a big firepit already, and now have a glider swing on order! Also had 2 kids' parties to go to over the weekend. Only had diet coke at the first one on Sat., and snacked on some raw veggies, fruit and cheese at the one on Sunday. Overall stayed on plan, although I know I definitely didn't get in enough protein either day. If I don't plan it out, I just don't make myself eat enough. Back down to my low weight of last week and hoping for a nice whoosh in a day or so. 6 pounds until my June 1st goal!!

I also tried on pants yesterday that had been tight about a month ago and they slid on with ease (and room!!) so I am definitely toning up and losing inches! Someone that I haven't seen in about 5-6 weeks saw me yesterday at one of the parties and even commented on it!! (isn't that the best  ) Now I have my youngest dd 2nd birthday to plan out for Sunday. At least I can plan out some foods that I can have! And after working on her cake all day Saturday ("elaborate" 3 tier Hello Kitty cake with Homemade buttercream frosting), I'm certain I'll have no interest in eating any- that's way it always goes with me and cakes. Love to make them , but want nothing to do with it after it is done- that's a good thing though!

My Planned Menu

1) 1 C Hood CCFF milk w/ scoop pp
2) 1/2 C egg beaters
3) 2.7 oz tuna, 1.5T light MW, .5oz celery in 1/2 LC mini pita
4) 3 oz lemon chicken, salad w/ .75oz feta cheese
5) 1/2C HoodCCFF milk w/ .5scoop PP
Totals: 584cals 11f/15c/103p

Heatha! You don't have too much to lose -and on this plan -it works when we stick to plan!

Shamrock--I KNOW what you mean about the weekends. Its the hardest for me too. Especially the social thing-going out to eat/parties, friends houses, ect. I almost want to become a social recluse so I don;t have to deal with all that. And I personally, don't like to sit here and explain my diet to everyone I come across...mainly cuz I am sure they would be bored to tears but also cuz I just don't want to!!!!

Anyhow, I am sticking to plan. Plugging away. A few slips (bites ) on the weekend. But I am hoping to be back on plan all week. Its the TOM so I am not gonna weigh in for awhile. Oh well.

Oh ddaily-the clothes being loose is the best isn't it??? I always try on the tighter pants -its a good gauge for me since I don't step on the scale too much.

Good luck everyone for a great PSMF week!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning, ladies!

Nill - Good going!

I thought I'd have a bigger loss this morning, since I made several bathroom trips during the night.

But, frankly, 0.8 lbs. if perfectly fine, I guess.

How's everyone else doing?

Day 1 236.8
Day 7 234.6
Day 14 230.4

Day 15 229.6 FM
Day 16 231
Day 17 230.2

Good morning-

Well, back up to 222- hoping I can break that today be being especially careful- only 542 calories, 6 gr fat, 20 carbs, and 96 protein- having shrimp and broccoli for dinner tonight- looking forward to that-

Nill- wow! you have lost so quickly! that is great!

Gibster- you have also lost well- I was also making bathroom trips last night and hoping it would show on the scale- but it went in the wrong direction.

Yes WindyCityGAl- I love the weekend, but then again I hate it because it is so hard- I am taking my daughter on a camping trip- so I am going to try to pack healthy food- it is kind of hard between the 2 of us because she is a strict vegetarian, and I am eating a lot of meat trying to get all this protein in....I will just have to plan-

Ddailey- your patio sounds awesome- just in time for the summer- yes, I love that when you clothes are suddenly loose- what a great feeling!!

Hi Heatha- that is great!

Well, got to get to work- have a great one everybody!

another day, another pound.....DOWN that is I am only 5 pounds away from June 1st goal, and 3 pounds away from the 170's (haven't seen those numbers since first becoming preg. with youngest dd more than 2 1/2 years ago. I did my 30 day shred workout again last night. Thinking I may get brave and attempt level 2 the next time. It's definitely one of those workouts that you just fall onto the couch after you're done and feel like you really did something good for your body!!

Nil~ WOW...talk about a whoosh and a half! How about sharing that whoosh fairy with the rest of us! Great Going

Gib & Shamrock~ are you like me and start to think of every bathroom trip as an exciting potential for loss on the scale the next morning....my sad, pathetic life- I know

Heatha~ glad you're seeing results so fast- helps to keep ya motivated, don't it?!

WB Jana, and best of luck for the week.

As for my whoosh...

I do have a lot to lose though. I guess maybe i just got so bloated in New Orleans, and retained a ton of water. Remember, i went up like 6lbs! I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it keeps going! Here's to another glass of water! LOL

Hi ladies-

Just wanted to ask you something- was just reviewing Lyle's book- do any of you still do the EC Stack? If so, do you think that is effective? Can it be bought in a regular store like Walmart? I was thinking maybe that could speed up my metabolism.....I was pretty good today with sticking to the plan- so am hoping to be back down to at least 221 tomorrow!!

Let me know what you ladies think-

I have continued to do the EC stack. I buy my "supplies" at Rite Aid, but I'm sure I could also find them in Walmart. I use 200mg caffeine tabs (no doze or generic equivalent- about $4 for 60) which ironically is found with all the sleep aid meds. and Bronkaid which has 24mg Ephedrine each(about $12 for 60 tabs- I think) which usually has a paper slip in the cold/flu/allergy area that needs to be taken to pharmasist because it is kept behind the counter.

I love the added energy that I feel from it. I take the stack twice a day usually around 7am and 2pm. I would say the only side effect I have had is maybe a sensation of being warm and perhaps sweating a little (nothing excessive!) for the first hour or so after taking it. I say try it out. If you don't like the way it makes you feel or don't think it helps you really haven't wasted all that much money wise.

It's been a few days since I checked in, so even though I'm pretty tired today, (it was grocery delivery day at work), I thought I better do that. I've been under the weather a bit. Partly because of the vertigo problems, but MOSTLY because this psmf diet is just flat out making me "sick."

I'm thinking it's a "detox" thing though.

When we lived in southern California I suffered with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. And was "told" by folks on the internet who also suffered with it, that when the body can't deal with a particular chemical, it will store it in the fat cells. I've read similar things from Dr. Mike Eades (Protein Power) as pertaining to meat. That lean meats are healthier for you, because of the toxins in the fat.

So I'm now wondering if that is what's happening to me. In reverse. That as the fat is burned, it's releasing all kinds of nasty stuff into my system, that I now have to deal with. Cuz I'm down to Southern California fat -- IF the theory that "the last fat to leave is the first you put on" is true.

I seem to feel better on the weekends when I'm eating more carbs and calories, and just maintaining/gaining. It's like the fat that is now being burned is very toxic. Couldn't hardly eat lunch yesterday, it just made me nauseated to eat, and I ended up throwing half of it away. Was okay for dinner though.

I "used" to believe it was ALL about carbs. Just count the carbs. Keep the carbs low, and you don't have to be concerned about calories. Calories don't count. And all that jazz. But that seems to only be true if you are new to low carb diets, and haven't adapted to them yet.

I was reading over at Body Recomposition a while back, how some of the folks over there had put the carb theory to a test during one of their diet breaks. It was the perfect time, since you HAVE to eat at maintenance calorie levels or slightly above. And they discovered that as long as you eat the amount of protein that "you" need, get in your 6 to 10 grams of fish oils per day, and eat "at" maintenance calories, the rest of the calories really don't matter where they come from. As far as maintaining your weight is concerned.

Now that "thought" was pretty scandalous to me. Cuz up to that point, I had defended, and believed in all of the myths and inaccuracies and unscientific thought that is preached by the low carb community these days. But I LOVE to test out theories. And figured, the only way to really know for myself, was to do it.

So when I took my diet break, I first found my maintenance level, which for 180 pounds was somewhere between 2100 and 2300 calories. Then I ate at various carb levels to see if it would make any difference. What I found was that it didn't matter if I ate 50, 100, or even 150 carbs a day, my weight remained steady provided I didn't go over 2300 calories.

Which totally blew my mind!!!

Now...in all fairness...I never tried Induction levels (20 net), nor did I go as high as a "typical" American diet (300), so I can only speak for the mid-range. But that's where I'd be eating at, for maintenance, anyways.

As far as psmf goes, those who display very low carb levels in their stats are generally not including fibrous veggies in that count. Those who do, from the menus I've seen around the Internet, eat anywhere between 20 net carbs and 50. A lot depends on your exercise levels, and whether or not you're weight lifting. I quite often eat 35 to 40 net carbs, since I'm including fruit. And it's not hurting my fat loss any.

Last night, for example, I had 1/2 cup low-fat cottage cheese and 1/2 cup splenda-sweetened canned peaches with my dinner, (about 4 slices), since my lunch was a bit shy. And I was down quite a bit this morning.

Day 1: 180.4
Day 7; 174.4
Day 13: 172.2
Day 20: 175.2

Day 27: 172.4 FM
Day 28: 174.6 Refeed
Day 29: 176.4
Day 30: 173.8

At first, I was a bit worried about how much water I retained over the weekend from putting the free meal and refeed back to back, but quite a lot of it came back off yesterday alone. So this coming week will really be the "tell all."

Welcome Back Jana!!!

Regarding EC Stack:
I currently take 1/2 doze of E in the morning with a can of splenda-sweetened coke. I have left-over Metab-O-Lite pills that I'm currently using for that, plus I still have a box of Primatene pills (for asthma) when I'm out of Metabs, which will be soon. The Primatene pills are comparable to Bronkaid.

There's Hoodia in my green tea pills that I also take in the mornings, (I just noticed that yesterday), but I'm not sure about any interactions between the Hoodia and the E. I will have to look into that. Cuz the green tea is an antioxidant and helps the vertigo. So in bad weather, I take the green tea in the afternoon too.

When I've tried to take a full dose of the diet pills, a while back, they dropped me too dang hard in the afternoon. And 2 full doses dropped me harder still, in the evening. But maybe that's because of the other stuff that's in there.

When I switch to the Primatene in a few days, we'll have to see. I took them for many, many years 3 x day with no side effects. So I'm thinking it's just these danged diet pills that are giving me a hard time.

Lioness- It's good to be back! I wanted to add to what you said, that I was VERY surprised to find that on my diet/maintain breaks, as long as my protein was in the right place the amount of carbs I ate did not affect my weight as long as I was at my maintenance (2100ish). What a freeing realization for me! (and you too, I bet!)

ETA - For each diet break I did put on some water weight but my fat loss has been maintaining very well!

Vickie~ I too have found that many people don't count their veggie carb counts into their menus. Personally, I include EVERYTHING because I need to see where I am at each and every day. I figure then I could always go back if I needed to to see what I was doing/not doing while losing the most. But then again, I'm a numbers nut...LOL...

I'd say that was a nice "little" loss!! My fruit weakness lately has been trying to stay away from all the sweet ripe watermelon that is now coming into season!!

Vickie~thanks as always for your posts...they are so very informative, and really make me think about how to handle my free meals, etc...!

Shamrock~if you are interested in doing the EC stack...I would start out as Lyle talks about in his book...1 dose/day. then, as your body gets used to it, you can step up to the full 3 doses per day.

I do 3 EC stacks per day...at mealtimes, with my fish pills. It was rough at first. I was fidgety, flighty, and light-headed. Now..not so much. I know that I cannot take the EC after 4pm...it ruins my evening....i cant concentrate, i feel agitated, etc.

just my 2 cents.

Good Morning, ladies.

Welcome back, Jana and Vickie!

More good info posted yesterday regarding maintenance levels. Very interesting, and like Nill said, something to think about for FM's and diet breaks. I'm planning my diet break beginning July 24 - the day I fly to TX to visit my DD, DSIL, and DGD for the weekend. (very convenient ) Info like this is really going to help with my food choices.

I haven't tried the EC stack. I toyed with the idea, but since Lyle talked about using it when things slow down, I decided to hold off. One question, tho - I get the feeling that once you start it, you need to continue. Am I wrong? What does happen when you stop the EC?

I'm wondering if I basically stayed the same as yesterday because I ate too much protein yesterday - 113 g.

Day 1 236.8
Day 7 234.6
Day 14 230.4

Day 15 229.6 FM
Day 16 231
Day 17 230.2
Day 18 230.4

Good morning ladies!

Well, I am still at 222- that is very depressing- so I am going hardcore today and doing only protein shakes- I don't understand why I am still up to 222 when I was so careful yesterday......

Thanks for all responses regarding the EC Stack- I will try it this week- starting with only 1 dose the first day and see how that goes-

LIoness- Thank you so much for your input- I know what you mean about low carb- I am terrified of getting over 20 grams per day- although, I have not been losing weight with only eating low carb- and I was also stunned to learn that I need to watch my calorie count- after years of not caring about calories, and only carbs- like you said, at first the low carb worked great, but now, it just doesn't do it anymore- and as Janamonkey said, I am kind of releaved that I can incorporate more carbs in my diet as long as I watch my calories- so forbidden foods, like perhaps some bread here and there and fruit are not permanently out of the picture-

I have to work at my 2nd job tonight- a huge banquet, we can eat all the food we want there, but, I am vowing that I will only drink water- I am going to try to do only the protein shakes for the next couple of days....

Ok ladies- good luck to everybody today- take care!

Hi everyone! I had an inopportune free meal yesterday because of a family obligation. But this time it was for a good reason - my Dh's sister had a baby! Their baby is the first grandchild on his side of the family so it is a really big deal. One odd thing is that I woke up last night around 2am and was sick- not sure if it was from the rich food or from my friend who was sick with the flu earlier this week. I feel okay now. I am dehydrated, I bet I'll be up on the scale tomorrow even if I'm good today. Oh well.

Well, I'm wondering if the protein bar i had yesterday AM nad something to do with only going down .4 lbs?? Not that I am complaining by ANY stretch!!! I'm still a very happy camper. I'm going to try on a pair of pants this weekend that was tight...see what happens. Not expecting much yet, as I've just started.
