Keep up the good work Mary I know we can do this together. I hurt my foot and the kids are home so going to the gym is very difficult right now but at least I control what goes in my mouth. Problem is with all these goodies around and baking them I know I can't stay out of them but maybe I can limit myself.

Good luck,

Missy

Bumping is where you move the thread back up on the llist of posts so it will be seen easier, rather than it possibly dropping to the other page due to inactivity.

Hi ladies,

I forgot to post my latest results... at my last appt I had lost 1-1/2 lbs. However I am still up 1/2 a lb from my lowest weight a few weeks ago. Looking back I can see what happened (we were discussing cravings and my dr said "if you're craving chocolate, go ahead and have a small amount" so I went a little overboard) but I'm being super careful not to fall into that trap again. I'm going every 2 weeks now, that should give me plenty of time to lose at least 2 - 4 lbs every visit and I really want to keep up the momentum I initially had. Besides, the sooner I reach goal the sooner I can stop paying the dr.

Missy I hope your foot is getting better!

Mac I hope you are enjoying your time off!

My foot is feeling better not all the way well yet but it is getting there.

I need to work on my momentum too. The holidays are just very hard to stick to anything. My kids are home and we are just busy then lazy and I don't want to do anything and easy is good.

Don't worry I think we will all get it back. Next week things should get back to normal.

Missy: Maybe you are holding onto fluid. A great way to lose excess fluid is to consume foods high in potassium in order to counter-balance high levels of sodium (which cause fluid retention). Here is a brief article on the subject Dr. Eric Berg’s Health Tips Potassium?Sodium Ratios I personally have been eating a lot of foods on the list in order to un-do all of the sodium I've had over the holidays.

Mac: Hope your dd is ok!

I am getting weighed on Fri so I am working my hardest to stay on track. I did get off track for the New Year and also my dd's bday on Jan 4th. (Had goodies and champagne and then went out to eat for dd's bday.) I'm a little scared to see the scale right now.

The daughter has been acting a bit strange for herself. Doctors seem to think all is still ok though. I guess Ill have to trust them in this. Her co workers said she was acting really different at work yesterday, but she said she felt fine...lol... I guess it just takes time to get back to normal...
As for the dieting.. I didnt get weighed at the DR the other day when I got my shot.. I was chicken to do it...lol... Maybe I will weigh this week here at home. Eat Well.

Despite TOM I am down another 1/2 lb, back to my low weight of a few wks ago. WHAT A RELIEF! I know that the veggie meals this past week (esp the fresh broccoli sprouts for lunch every day) did the trick. The dr switched my diet a little so that now I'm eating more fruit and snacks and dairy throughout the day. Crossing fingers it helps the weight drop off quicker than before.

Mac--Do you think the shot helps you lose weight? I wonder what's the difference between getting a shot and taking a supplement with B12. ??? Glad your dd is OK.

Missy--Don't get discouraged, stock up on your favorite somercize foods or maybe look around on her website for new recipes to get ~recharged~ for the new year! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

WOE: Somercize - the plan that WORKS!
Start Date: every day
Returning from the Land of Make Believe - and ROLLCALL!!!!!!!!!

Hi all!!!!!!!!!!

WELL!!!! I'm SO glad to see that there are those faithful few SS-ers keeping on!!!!!

I SO wish I could take the months of November and December off the calendar. EVERY SINGLE YEAR I have difficulty, and EVERY SINGLE YEAR I tell myself the other 10 months that I'm not going to give in to the "crazies" of the last two months.

Well... I gave in AGAIN this year

I don't know if it's "superwoman syndrome" where I think I can do everything - all by myself and perfectly, of course - or if it's just something I never seem to grasp.

I really do like the meaning of the holidays. It's all the hype and commercialism that I just can't stand, and I try SO hard not to fall into that trap. Then I start thinking "Well, I can't disappoint 'so and so', so I'll just... " and then I fall down that slippery slope.

I think part of it is that I live in Ohio, where the sun doesn't often show up in winter. I really believe in the vitamin deficiency, and just not being outside and getting fresh air, other than running from our house to the van to wherever we have to go. I spend precious little time outside when it's below 50 degrees.

Anyways... enough of the rant. January is here, and though "the tree" still needs taken down, the holidays are essentially over. Forward, ho!!!!!

Plan for success today:
Make a double batch of oopsies
Dice some cheese and bag in snack-sized bags for 'grab and go' (no excuses)
Bake some pepperoni slices to eat with the cheese or for when the crunch urge hits
Make some spinach dip as a filler for oopsie "sandwiches" for lunch at my desk
Cook some chicken to eat with the cheese when I want something more substantial, or with the oopsies as a 'sandwich'.

I'm finding right now really just need to use the KISS method. Nothing fancy, just the basics. Eggs. Chicken. Beef. Veggies. Oopsies.

Stuff I don't have to think about.

Ummm... okay, and maybe some heavy cream now and then whipped to perfection and savored

How is everyone else doing???

Cary in OHio

Just wanted to say Hi and chefcary I screwed up to over the holidays and am having a hard time getting back on track also. Hopefully it will kick in soon.

I live in CA and we usually see the sun quit a bit unless the fog stays for the day. Annyway I also take vitamins I think it makes me feel better.

Mary thanks for the encouragement I will do that.

Monacalgal just a little hi

Hi Cary, welcome back. For several years I would eat off-plan from Halloween to New Years. Sort of like a tradition for me LOL. The good news is you're back to Somersizing. Load up on the basics and KISS like you said. I'm not following Somersizing right now, I'm following a diet under the guidance of my chiropractor. Basically I'm eating organic (when possible) veggies, fruits and eggs and some protein (fish, chicken and occasionally red meat) and occasionally dairy. It's similar to how I was eating when following Somersizing except I'm eating waaay more veggies and I'm not having *any* low-carb sweeteners. I'm also cutting waaaay back on cheese and heavy cream. Anyway, it's working, I've lost over 20 lbs!! Just some ideas in case you are wanting to kick start your weight loss...

Anyone eat anything particularly good lately?? Low carb, of course!

Cancel Nov. & Dec. !

Me too . . . Thanksgiving and Christmas . . almost impossible to be 'good' for those two months !

I'm also doing my best to keep is simple. I find I get to complicated and cook too much and then get annoyed when everything I do requires a serious amount of cooking and chopping.

This morning I made SS's Easy Eggs Florentine from "Fast and Easy": Slice of ham in muffin cup, crack an egg into each cup, top with shredded cheese, bake for 15 minutes @ 350

I cooked 5. 2 For me and 3 for Hubby. I also put a few slices of cucumber on the side.

WOE: Somercize - the plan that WORKS!
Start Date: every day
So I'm not alone that November and December should be banished, just for the stress (overeating, not 'legal' eating, etc....)???!!!!! Okay - and we'll add Halloween in, too, since that seems to be a high sugar temptation!

Well, I did absolutely none of the things I said I was going to do Monday. Ugh. I got caught up in a project and simply didn't MAKE the time to do it.

I did have an odd thing occur yesterday, though. I had a *craving* for chicken!!! That NEVER happens!!! Alright, so it was chicken wings... but they're completely legal!! And I always have mine with garlic Parm sauce, which is also legal!!! Though I have to confess there wasn't a veggie in sight. I ate my fill of the chicken and that was enough.

I made a LOT extra, too, so we all can just eat them like snacks or for a quick meal - things aren't slowing down for my kids at all with activities. I love cold chicken, straight out of the fridge, and knowing those are in there will help me reach for that instead of something else (I hope!).

I made an exceptionally yummy chicken dish Sunday night - it was really just boneless chicken breasts, cubed, and sauteed in a bit of Pam and then I added a ton of onions (sliced) and let them simmer. When they were cooked through (onions didn't get brown) I added a smidge of white wine and a cut up, de-seeded Roma tomato, and a pinch of a few spices - garlic powder, sage, thyme, teeny pinch of salt, and some fresh ground pepper. My 17yo son devoured it! Even my picky 16yo daughter loved it.

I am making a pledge, here and now that starting Saturday I am going to get on my rebounder at least 10 minutes a day. I know that doesn't sound like much, but since I've bought it (October, I think?) I've been on it twice. My hubby is upset because I PROMISED him I'd use it. Ugh. I've mentioned before that it caused knee pain, but I'm just going to take it easier. Even 10 minutes of movement is better than none. I've gotten the kids to walk the dog for me because I HATE cold... so that's even less I've been doing.

I SO wish that scheduling exercise was easier, and if I leave it up to "when I can squeeze it in", it doesn't happen. I'm not one of those that voluntarily chooses to exercise when I could be ______ (fill in the blanks with about anything else that's sedentary - crocheting, reading, etc.)

So... I've said it here. Saturday. 10 minutes. Me and the rebounder. It's a date.

Cary

Cary--I have a rebounder, too. I've found it really helpful to getting the scale to move. I only do it like 10 or 15 minutes a day--I like to kick my legs out to the side (one at a time of course), like the kick you see kick boxers do. Hop, then kick, hop, then kick. It may sound basic, but it really tires out your legs quickly. You get a lot of bang for the buck. Ten - 15 minutes of this and I am DONE.

Mmmm, lots of good ideas for chicken. I think I will give them a try...
