I thought soy was ok? I eat a lot of edamame. Maybe I should cut back or eliminate it? Thought I was doing a good thing...lol

Denise From the Winston Price Foundation:
Dangers of Soy:
Confused About Soy?--Soy Dangers Summarized
High levels of phytic acid in soy reduce assimilation of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. Phytic acid in soy is not neutralized by ordinary preparation methods such as soaking, sprouting and long, slow cooking. High phytate diets have caused growth problems in children.
Trypsin inhibitors in soy interfere with protein digestion and may cause pancreatic disorders. In test animals soy containing trypsin inhibitors caused stunted growth.
Soy phytoestrogens disrupt endocrine function and have the potential to cause infertility and to promote breast cancer in adult women.
Soy phytoestrogens are potent antithyroid agents that cause hypothyroidism and may cause thyroid cancer. In infants, consumption of soy formula has been linked to autoimmune thyroid disease.
Vitamin B12 analogs in soy are not absorbed and actually increase the body's requirement for B12.
Soy foods increase the body's requirement for vitamin D.
Fragile proteins are denatured during high temperature processing to make soy protein isolate and textured vegetable protein.
Processing of soy protein results in the formation of toxic lysinoalanine and highly carcinogenic nitrosamines.
Free glutamic acid or MSG, a potent neurotoxin, is formed during soy food processing and additional amounts are added to many soy foods.
Soy foods contain high levels of aluminum which is toxic to the nervous system and the kidneys.
The above soy dangers and our Myths & Truths About Soy are available in our http://westonaprice.org/brochures/SoyAlertTrifold.pdf

Never been there, wasn't prepared for menu choices. It's that time of the month, and I've been in a piss-poor mood today anyway. I started bemoaning the fact that I couldn't have the carbage choices. DH ordered a regular soda, DD ordered a cheesy potato soup, etc. I did have a great dinner, but I just felt really bad for being Diabetic. DS ended up throwing a tantrum while we were there, so I took him outside and DH finished up and brought leftovers home. I bought some new CarbSmart ice cream tonight, so finally sat down to my dinner - substituted grilled for fried shrimp, grilled chicken, and a steak w/ a side of broccoli; had a salad, at the restaurant.. and some chocolate CS ice cream. I feel a bit better. I know I didn't cheat on myself. I started taking a second dose of the Metformin tonight (I'm supposed to be taking two pills but have only been taking one) so I'm hoping it will help my fasting #'s. I've got my plan for how to proceed. I will do my best to stick with it. It's tough, but worth it. I'm sure I'll feel better once AF/TOM is all gone.

Hi IFers,

Just a quick minute to come by and say 'hi' to all of you and to 'Sweet'.

Our daughter and dsil are still here visiting and there's a good chance that our daughter will stay the week while her hubby is out of town on business. After all, why should she be home alone, when we can catch up on family fun.

Anyway, all is going well, and I'll be back when I can.......KUTGW, all!!

Happy Monday to all my IF Buddies !

Hope everyone had a great day today ! Mine was good, just a Monday all day long.....

I will have to make this quick because I have to devote at least 2 hours tonight to my project work. I just wanted to report my weigh in results......I am a little hesitant to report it, but I guess I will go ahead and claim it and maybe it will stick around....it's only 1 little pound, but at least it is a whole pound....seems like that is about my norm now....a pound a week, more or less.....sure do wish I would get a visit from the Whoosh Fairy, but I think she has lost my address ! Please someone send her to SC......even if it only for one day.....I promise I will send her back !

As we all know, the closer we get to goal, these last few pounds come off at a snails pace.....just to think: I used to lose 3 lbs a week.....now it has dwindled down to 1 little pound......but I can't whine too much......that one little pound is gone forever, never to be seen on my bod again ! Right ?

Well, I will try to get back on line later this week and post some personals.....but, don't fret....I am reading all your posts and keeping up with all you guys..... so I am here, even if you do not see me for a day or so ! KUTGW Gang !

Stay focused and stay strong.....we are getting there....one day at a time !

I have no idea what to do anymore. I felt really horrible until I caved and had some carbs today. <sigh> I'm not sure what to do at this point. I can't seem to do IF because my blood sugar rises in the morning if I don't eat. The coffee doesn't seem to be enough. Then there's the late-night snack that helps my fasting #'s in the morning.
Im warring w/ my Diabetes right now for all of my eating/food WOL. Feels like it's kicking my butt..

Just checking in. . .first day back to work and I'm so glad! It's nice to be back into a routine.

I did have a jello egg cream this morning. I actually felt hungry, so I had it by about 8:30. Then I had my one mug of coffee and that was it until 3:00. Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be on the first day back. After that (3:00)I had some tuna salad (maybe 1/3 of a large can's worth), some egg salad 1 1/2-2 eggs worth?) at about 4:30, along with two bites of a pork roast and 1/4 cup of lc cole slaw. Official dinner was at 8:00, I had a protein shake with 2 eggs added.

We'll see what the scale brings tomorrow, but it was nice not obsessing about food all day.

LCRachel: I used to suffer from terrible pain in my stomach after eating. But it wasn't every time I ate. I tried to track my foods and could not figure out the trigger. . .wasn't too much sugar, wasn't after eating high fat, wasn't, wasn't, wasn't. . .I ended up in the ER twice with such terrible pain I needed IV meds. I went round and round with doc's telling me it must be acid reflux, try this, try that. But I just knew that wasn't it. FINALLY I saw a GI who agreed to do more than give me free Prevacid samples. He did a scope into my stomach and found I had a bacterial infection inside my stomach. Put me on meds and have felt (mostly) better since then. I so hope that you get this worked out.

I hope you all have a great night and a wonderful IF day tomorrow.

'Night

Good Tuesday Morning IFers
CarolinaSweetie Whoo-Hoo on the 1 lb down I do remember when you used to be down 4 lbs per week. It does slow down the closer we get to goal & you are just about there
Gracie Enjoy the week with your DD. Are you still doing the Egg Creams?
Mommie22boys It feels good to get back OP & feel in control KUTGW
Rachel Hope you can get your tummy issues worked out soon.
Missalissa Ms. Piggy is cute but I'd rather see new pictures of you chickie

Finally my scale has inched down to my low signature weight at Easter. Now for the final push to goal. Yesterday I walked for 50 minutes. Broke my fast at 12:30 P.M. with an Egg Cream, at 4:30 P.M. I had a delicious cucumber salad made with a French Mayo & celery seeds and a stuffed cheddar burger + a few squares of dark chocolate.
Todays menu will be Chicken salad, cucumber salad & EC or two. Will BBL to check in with everyone.
Be strong & keep it simple Hugs, Barbara

Congrats on the pound! I know, it gets so slow at the end. It took me a month to lose the last 3 pounds. Now I can't get my scale to budge no matter what I try. I am trying not to focus on the scale, but to just eat healthy and continue my workouts.

Aw chickie! I feel for you. Maybe you should stop the IF for now and just concentrate on stablizing your blood sugars. That doesn't mean you should stop posting here though. We are going to help you get through this!

I agree Barbara. What better place to get advice for diabetes than from a diabetic himself. Bernsteins program is a great low carb plan for diabetics.

Well, I had a nice workout at kickboxing last night. I didn't exactly eat on plan yesterday. TOM is here and messing with me! Scale was the same today, so no worries there!

Hope everyone has a great IF day!

Missalissa I'm looking forward to your new pictures. I'm still working on the last 10 to 20 lbs & it's brutally slow especially when I allow a few indulgence days,LOL!.
You have a great attitude with not focusing on the scale & doing all the "smart" things to stay healthy & fit.
Thanks for the reminder of what we all should be focusing on

Happy Tuesday IF'ers. I did pretty good at work last night.
Misslissa, Miss Piggy is so cute! I love her!
Barbara, glad your scale is moving!
Andrea, I can't stomach the idea of egg cream but if you can do it!
Carolina, one pound is one pound! It is so hard to loose one pound no matter what you weigh! claim it!
Hi Gracie! You have such a cute smile!
Meeha, I think I do better on my days off, it is easier not to eat junk because it is not in my house. There is always so much crap at work, I seem to always have a bite here and a bite there!

Melissa, hugs it is so hard to lose! Sorry you are having a hard time with IF. Just keep trying! Hugs!

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday! Molly

Afternoon, gals!

Well, after 1 day back OP, I was down 2.2 pounds this morning. Phew! I brought a choco-mocha chilled egg cream with me to work this morning. I had it by about 8:30ish, and then drank my big mug of coffee the rest of the morning. At *lunchtime* I realized I had forgotten to bring any food with me to open my window at 2:30! So, then I was suddenly very hungry. I don't know why. . .anyway, I found some vegetarian vegetable broth and made a cup of that (VERY salty), and found. . .a fruit and grain bar! OMGoodness, what hunger + unpreparedness will do to you!!!

Anyhoo, I drank a ton of water and have since had 2 HB eggs and 1/2 cup of yocheese. Not sure what I'll have later for dinner. . .water for sure, though! LOL!

Gotta run now. . .WCBL!!

Hi, everybody! Long time no post!

When I first started trying IF, I struggled so hard, but you supported me, and for that, I am grateful. After many failed attempts and trying unsuccessfully to go back to a low carb diet, I am hopping back on the IF wagon.

Of course, I have always kept up with this thread and all my IF buddies!

Last week I eased into a 7-8 hour schedule and lost 3.5 lbs. Then this weekend I had company and grazed and ate badly. I got on the scale yesterday and had gained back 3 lbs. The good news is that yesterday I got back on IF with a 6-hour window. Overnight I dropped the 3 lbs. I did count calories yesterday and found that I only took in about 900. I don't want to drop too low, but after the weekend, I don't think it hurt me at all!

I am planning on keeping a 6-7 hour window each day opening at noon. I have been having a low carb protein shake at lunch, then nothing again until I eat a big dinner. I am totally satisfied that way. I have true hunger by evening which I satisfy by filling my belly. I stop eating at 6 or 7, then go to bed at around 10. I slept so well last night without the food making laps in my tummy!

I am not counting any carbs right now, although I am keeping a close eye on calories to make sure I am getting enough but not overdoing it too much. I am also going to try to keep the calories on the lower end at least every other day, but I will not be strict about that.

I love not having to carry food to work (I come home for lunch) and think and plan and obsess over it. I think I may be able to work the plan this time. My weight has gone from 191 to 188. I plan on seeing in move steadily down. If for some reason I stall, I'm not giving up on IF, but I will tweak my food choices.

IF is a wonderful life-long woe, and I believe that is vitally important to any weight loss plan. It must be doable for the long-haul and not just a temporary fix or a band-aid.

So after that long post, the nitty gritty is. . .I'M BAAAAACK! ! !

QuiteContrary: Welcome back!

Well, for dinner I ended up having my lc cole slaw. Lately I just can't seem to get enough of it!! I did, though, have a snack in between of some veggie booty (spinach & kale. . .yum!). Not exactly legal, but not the worst carbs I could've had. So, I'm done for the day.

Tomorrow I plan to make and take another choco-mocha chilled egg cream and a mug of coffee with me to work. It seemed to help keep the hungries away. I WILL, however, remember to bring a little something to break my fast after the last period of the day (2:30). I'm thinking maybe it will be yocheese. Both DS's have practice tomorrow night, so I'm thawing some ground beef & cabbage I made 2 weekends ago. I will just have to warm it up quickly after work so they can eat before we're off and running for the evening. Not sure if I'll partake in it, though it is totally low-carb.

Have a great night, ladies!

Hey everyone!

I am doing better. Seems like as long as I keep my diet simple and free of red meat, dairy, and too much fat that my stomach is OK. This is the third day that I've eaten this way. Still doing well with the exercise so I'm not too worried about the carbs (and I handle them well anyway.)

I need to help my daughter with her story for school so I've got to rush off for now. See you all tomorrow!!

Rachel

My Mom told me to go in to my doctor. I agree. It's time to figure out what's going on. I'm out of hypotheses.

Good morning. Been doing some thinking since last night and I've decided to request Dr. Bernstein's new Diabetes Solution book from the library. I'll give his plan a try and see how I feel on it. It's just slightly higher in carbs than induction levels, so maybe high enough to keep me out of that LC-starvation feeling, but low eno
