I'm not sure you could do zero carbs. Even eggs have trace amounts of carbs in it. I had at one point ate about 10 carbs a day or less with fantastic results. Plus I took alot of supplements.
The only problem probably would be extreme boredom. I won't lecture you on health issues, as I am not a doctor. I had read somewhere...maybe "Life Without Bread" that before "modern" times, eskimoes had essentially a zero carb diet because they ate mainly fish. All I will say is that the less carbs I eat, the better I feel. At 10 carbs my joint pain goes away and so do my migraine headaches. If its bad for you, It would be hard to convince me of that. I guess I didn't answer your questions. I am not on it. I am starting Intermittent fasting with no sugar, no flour diet. I didn't have a set meal plan when I was on it. Bacon and eggs for breakfast....usually chicken for lunch with a small salad.....dinner would be chicken or steak or some stir fry concoction that I would make up off the top of my head. I lost about 50 lbs in about 3 1/2 months...and to top it off, I didn't exercise. Had I exercised things could have been better Last edited by Jenleigh : 01-11-2008 at 09:51 AM. |

Hey, Im: Go for it..It can be touchy. You can google Zero carb and see what other sites say about it.
As we know..EVERYONE has a different carb level. One man mentioned in the '72 book couldn't lose unless he only a bit of lettuce..he couldn't go up the ladder at all. So..Basically, get adequate protein..70-80 grams a day and the rest fat. Do a FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal to get a feel for what you are eating. Give it a whirl.. The Bear has eaten this way for years..(he is a 72 year old man)

Go for it and see how you feel!
I am maintaing however last August I tweaked my plan to include more carbs due to my workout schedule... and had felt nothing but bloated and sluggish since... although weight is ok. I gave it time to adjust and it wasn't working for me. A new year - new plan - 80 fat/20 protein as close as I can get anyway to include less than 20 grams carbs (not net) so obviously not really 80/20 but as close to that ratio as I can. I do not worry about the carb in things like, eggs, cheese or cream (however I do have portion control with both cheese and cream). I FEEL way better with the lower carbs and that is what works for my body. I run and lift weights (training for my first 1/2 marathon) and it has made my workouts better.

I have been doing zero carbs for about a month now. When I say "zero", I mean as close to zero as humanly possible. I don't eat tons of eggs so there are some days when I truly eat "zero carb".
I have seen this WOE works wonders for some people. It hasn't for me, though. However, a few things may be going on with me: 1. I'm still stuck in the Kimkins mentality that I should be seeing a weight loss on the scale every week. I"m not. 2. I'm not sure if I'm not eating enough calories. Eating pure fat and protein makes you full fast. One thing I can offer, however, is that I feel GREAT eating like this! I'd say go for it, you have nothing to lose. Remember, your body does not need carbs. But, it does need fat and protein. Try it! |
