I am going to do the Rice Diet. I am going to start practicing it now. I am already eating mostly whole grains, veggies, and lots of fruits. I just need to clean all the sugar and vegetarian junk food out of my system. This will basically be the very clean version of what I have been attempting to do!! I've seen more than one version online and I'm going to get a copy of the book either today or tomorrow.

But I think my phase one will be breakfast of coffee w/ff soy milk and fruit, lunch of brown rice w/two fruits, dinner of brown rice w/two fruits. Not sure yet, but that's what I'm thinking.

For those of you wanting more info, try a search for "rice diet" online.

My goal is going to be to keep it super simple, even though those are the book guidelines. My version is going to be:

breakfast: coffee w/ff soy milk
lunch: 1 cup of brown rice, 2 fruits
dinner: 1 cup of brown rice, 2 fruits, 2 veggies, glass of red wine
walking or yoga: 30 minutes a day

There will be days when I'll go out for lunch or dinner. At those meals, I'll just focus on eating whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and occasionally fish.

I am looking to lose 10 pounds. I'm currently at a healthy BMI but wouldn't mind dropping it a couple of points.

I am excited to start this plan.

Rachel

the Heal your heart is the NEW RICE DIET
the one I linked is the old version started in the 1940's by Dr. Kemper
the book is RICE DIET REPORT by Judy Moscovitz
either one will give you good results
I have re-joined the rice journal at RICE DIET (yano the rest)
Yes Toothpick it works but its PLAIN GRAINS
(no butter, sugar, or GRAVY)
rice without gravy???

ok I am going to DR on 1/7
and although I am nowhere near where I'd like to be I really would love to lose some weight before so I don't come back bigger than I am now ( it's all inclusive , so yeah i'll be pigging out and enjoying many tropical cocktails from the open bar).

I think I might attempt to give this a try for two weeks as of monday? Although weekends/new years will be extremely difficult I might allow myself maybe one free meal a weekend ( most likely sushi lol)?

I also can't go without my 2 cups of XL coffee a day milk or half and half no sugar

Plus i do drink lots of water though

what do you guys think?

who's with me?

I like apples & have brown basmati rice from TJ all ready to go...

In RDR you eat just fruit and grains for 2 weeks before you move to phase II
in HYH you dont do PH I for a week just one day a week and you get alot more food 2 starches 3x a day instead of 1 starch 2x a day
also instead of having 6 phases there is only three steps
fruit, veggies & starch then Fruit, veggies, starch and LF/FF dairy
THEN getting chicken and fish

: DUNNO: why not?? if youre gonna "tweek" might as well
the orginal RDR was designed for peeps 150+ lbs overweight so if you want to add a little fats I dont see where it would hurt
I cook my rice in a little chicken stock or bullion cube to give it a little flavor
if I use bullion cubes I try to buy the LS ones

on RDR a serving is 3/4 cup of rice, oatmeal, cream of rice cereal, cream of wheat,
1 cup dry unsweetend cereals (grapenuts, corn flakes, puffed rice/wheat, read the labels no sugar added)

I didn't get to practice today, but I will practice tomorrow with brown rice and fruits as a detox day!

I am going to keep this super simple most of the time and have fruits and rice for my meals unless I am eating out.

Psi, I will be using ff soy milk in my coffee, so I think it would be okay.

I made a big pot of brown rice and will have lunch soon. I'm not quite hungry yet, but when I am, lunch will be a cup of brown rice, a cut up grapefruit, a cut up apple. What I love about this plan is how simple it is. That's what I need right now.

I hope this works
i'm a little excited lol
yes sad but true
a couple of lbs isn't asking for much is it?

rice is ready & packed for lunch along with apples ( yumm)

Since I am somewhat tweaking I will be drinking 2 L cups of coffee during the day one with f/f half and half & one with regular half and half
otherwise I don't see myself straying much more unless something comes up ( holidays are notorious for last minute, unexpectant party/dinner invites)

I am really hoping to get in 5 days of this rice/fruit "diet" this week as well as the next

BTW Rachel did you weight in yesterday & plan to do so tmorrow? if there are any changes please update I'm really curious to see what'll happen!

Psi, I have been maintaining at 134-135 for months, with a couple of sightings of 132-133 on the scale. This morning I weighed at 136. I will be interested to see if the scale goes down tomorrow. I really really want to see a new low weight lower than 132. Until I hit under 132, I will be a skeptic. (I lose very very slowly, so if I start seeing any kind of progress, I will be THRILLED!) My goal weight is between 122-128.

I'm not doing the plan completely until after the first of year, though.

I like how this one has a jumpstart day, a protein day, and a regular day. Those make it even more doable to me!

Hi Everyone, is it ok if I join in too?

Hi Rachel! I was doing a search for more about the Rice Diet and came across this thread and saw that you are on here too! How nice! I hope you don't mind that I'm here.

Those are great articles that you gave the link to. The one from Woman's World - I read before and that's what inspired me to go and buy the book.

Lately, I've been eating a lot of veggies and have really been craving fruit and whole grains. Maybe it's time to just shift over to the Rice Diet again. I really haven't been eating any meat anyway - so I think it would be easy.

A few weeks ago I bought a microwave steamer for veggies and rice. I have steamed broccoli and cauliflower in there a few times and loved it and thought it would be so easy to steam rice this way!
I also have been looking at dehydrators because Kevinpa on the recipe board came up with an awesome idea - to make your own dried cranberries because they end up being much lower in sugar and carbs that way! Well, I eat a little bit of dried cranberries everyday on my salad -and would love to make them myself with no added sugar, maybe splenda. There's a ton of other dried fruits I could make as well. I'm thinking if I get a gift card for Christmas, I may look into getting a dehydrator!

I think I'm going to reread my RD book again and shift over after the holidays! I'm really excited about this too!
