what about cycling Atkins with kimkins/ke??
Ok.. I know "kimkins" is a swear word here... and I certainly don't advocate it as a way of life. in my opinion.. one of the reasons people get to "starvation levels" with the diet is because of the severe snatt, which makes it virtually impossible to eat anything... (at least this was my experience.. I wasn't TRYING not to eat.. I simply couldn't)
However, that being said... what if a person were to do atkins.. and then use KE/kimkins on one or two days a week to hit their weekly weight loss goals. Here is an example... I have PCOS, and on ATkins, lost an average of about 1-2 pounds a MONTH... On Kimkins/KE I lost a pound a day... so... what if I did 5-6 days a week on Atkins and then threw in one or two days a week on Kimkins (which would give me that extra pound or two a week to get me in more of a normal weight loss range. ) I'm really hoping to NOT get so discouraged again.. This would result in 1.5-3 pounds of weight loss for me a week... Can anyone see any problems with this? would this in anyway do any harm to me healthwise? I know someone will sugest JUST doing Atkins.. and I certainly can do that.. however... the loss is soo painfully slow.. and I have SOO much to lose (over 100 pounds) it would take me 2-4 years on atkins to lose all the weight.. IF EVER!! I was on atkins (OWL) for 3 years.. and was completely stalled for over half of that time.. in 3 years I lost a total of 40 pounds.. FAR short of my goal... (and yes... I have counted calories, carbs, etc.. and have been here long enough, and got thousands of words of advice of different things to try, and NONE of them worked.. ) So, in this case.. would using KE/kimkins a day or so a week hurt? |

I don't know the answer, but I was wondering the same thing myself. since my main goal is to weigh only 1x per month, i was thinking...what if i did Atkins 3 weeks and (let's just say Stillmans....) the final week before my weigh in...i wonder what the net results month over month would be???
I'm anxious to see if anyone cycles this way. |

you might want to look into PSMF by lyle Mcdonald, sort of kimkims ish but higher cals, more protein and unlimited veggies. Depending on the category you get a free meal or a refeed. some take maintaince break with atkins and resume. This isnt something you'd want to do long term but better than even entertaining anything kimkins.
You can look up the old psmf thread of pop into the keto thread with some questions. Fat loss with ketogenic: cyclical & targeted ketogenic w/weight training Last edited by inatic : 12-22-2007 at 01:14 PM. |
