Modified Mediterranean Diet

My doctore said he came up with this modified Mediterranean Diet. It's just two pages he handed me to read. So far it is working so well for me.
The characteristics of the diet are:
1. Limit breads, grains, potatoes, pasta, rice, cereals, sugar and sweets--consider them your "dessert." (just like low carb diet)
2. An abundance of food from plant sources
3. Emphasis on minimally processed and seasonally fresh foods
4. Daily consumption of moderate amounts of cheese and yogurt.
5. Weekly consumption of moderate amounts of fish, poultry and eggs.
6. Red meat up to twice a week
7. One or two glasses of wine per day, normally with meals.
8. Olive oil as teh principal fat. Butter is ok too, in reasonable quantities.

So far this has really worked for me!! 21 pounds lost so far...
Has anyone heard of this before? first time for me.

Modified Mediterranean Diet
Had not heard of modified Mediterranean. But any plan can be modified.

I'm a fan of Dr. Weil who is a Mediterranean advocate.
No red meat allowed twice a week though. lol. ..... Fish, soy, beans.

Sound like you have found the right plan for you. WTG and continued success.

Teresa,
I have never heard of a modified Mediterranean diet. It sounds interesting. Would you post a day's menu? Thanks.

How much yogurt does he recommend in a day? How much fish, poultry and eggs in a week? This looks like a very good plan to me.
