Dr. Fleming's Stop the Inflammation plan....
Has anyone read this? It is basically fruit and vegetables...no processed food/drinks at all.

I could be wrong, but from what I surmise on the net, Dr. Fleming was the one who somehow received the medical examiner's report for Dr. Atkins and used it in an attempt to discredit Dr. Atkins and the Atkins diet.
Regardless of the contents of the confidential medical examiner's report, I have no respect for any one, particularly a physician, who would stoop that low to obtain and disseminate such a report (even if Dr. Fleming's assessment of the Atkins diet were correct). And I wouldn't support him by buying anything he was peddling, either. JMHO |

I don't know anything about that, and it's really not the point of this thread anyway.

Apologies, you are correct. I looked into his book after reading your post and didn't find anything more than that he basically does, as your post suggests, recommend a vegetarian diet.
Inflammation being related to heart disease has been proven by medical research. (C-reactive protein test measures inflammation). What I don't think has been proven is whether the inflammation causes the disease or if the disease process is causing the inflammation. He seems convinced it can be controlled by his vegetarian diet. Since diabetics are prone to having vascular disease, I would guess any diet that lowers LDL, VLDL, trigylcerides, and glucose would be helpful. The question is whether his diet does, in fact, do that. We have a family friend who is following an organic diet with coconut oil daily. It is not ketogenic nor strictly vegetarian, but all of her blood work has dramatically improved. So, who knows, perhaps he has some good points in his book, but as your question was whether anyone had read the book, NO, I haven't. Sorry I thread-jacked. Hopefully someone who has read his work will respond. |

I've done this 'diet'..I have five autoimmune INFLAMMATORY diseases. Rather than HELP my inflammation...it did quite the opposite (not enough protein in it to help my muscle growth). But..different strokes for different folks as I always say!
Oh, and the addition of natural thyroid hormone and drinking Knox (doesn't have to be that BRAND) gelatin in hot tea two to three times a day REALLY helped my RA and PAN. We just have to keep in mind that we are ALL DIFFERENT and that some people have much worse inflammation in the joints when they eat a lot of meat and fat. I just happen to be the opposite. Pam

No apology necessary Freckles..the diet is very difficult..fruits and vegetables ONLY. I love fruits and vegetables, but realistically I've got to have other stuff.
