Combining Weight Watchers with Atkins...

Can someone give me some pointers? I was told there were posts about combining the 2 WOE but my search for "weight watchers" isn't working! I'd love to try a low carb version of WW core...

You might want to ask Dottie. I believe she does WW and Atkins. I think it would be pretty hard if you're using really high fat. SB and WW seems like a better mix IMHO. I know it can be done though.

Thanks Denise...I'm just getting lazy, I know I drop weight faster with WW, though I do always feel slightly hungry.

I'll bet your Baxter is quite a looker! We've had Kellie (our African Grey) since she was 6 weeks old and I finished off her handfeeding, she's my baby! Even though she just turned 7!

Use the WW Flex plan but forego the brown rice, whole grain goods, fruit and potatoes. HTH

Have you looked into the Core program? I love it. There is no counting points so if you're hungry go ahead and eat. I've been losing really well on it.

Baxter is a great looking bird. She is in the middle of molting still so she's a bit funky looking. lol We've had her since she was 3 months old. We bought her as an egg from a very well known breader and got to visit her until we were able to bring her home. She's now 5 1/2 years old. I wish I had more time for her though. Before I had my 2 girls I spent a ton of time with her. He's such a great bird.

Denise, I was on Core for 3 weeks and was doing pretty good (lost 7 lbs), but I don't seem to have the ability to stop eating (at least carbs) when I'm satisfied, I also have issues with the FF stuff, mostly salad dressings, and I want real butter, true I could just count the points for that...I guess I'm just your typical impatient person who wants the weigh loss NOW ...I know slow and steady is the way to go though. I really do love atkins...I'm just in a funk right now...*sigh*

I love my Kellie! She's a great bird..I picked her out as an egg too!

I actually had a "pair" of breeding African Greys that I bought from a guy who owned a big pet shop....I never did see any proof of their breeding! We were moving into a small house and didn't have the room for the 10x6x3 foot mansion the birds were in, so I found a breeder and traded my pair for an egg....about 6 months later..the breeder found the "female" (Maggie) of my pair dead on the bottom of the cage one day....she had her autopsied (or wheatever it's called for a bird) and found that the bird had been starving to death for months (NOT the breeders fault), Homer (the male) had trapped Maggie in the nest box and wasn't feeding "her" who as it turned out was also a male! What a mess! Luckily the breeder didn't blame me. I love it when Kellie molts, she's a slow steady molter so she dosn't look too funny, I send her feathers to my sisters kids who love them...my kids could care less.

I did the flex during Atkins and never switched to the Core Program. However, many people had great results with the Core Program.

I do WW Flex and am finally back on track. I lost 31 pounds in about five months four years ago and then....backslid big time. I don't really feel cravings when I have carbs, but I am mindful of what I eat. I don't eat junk carbs and use whole grain cereal, salads, fruit and I have two servings of protein a day. I do eat popcorn on occasion and am really not doing a low carb version, but more of a South Beach w/ WW.

BTW, South Beach works great all by itself. I did it two years ago and lost seven pounds in two weeks. Unfortunately, that is the longest I stuck with it also.

I'd love to hear just HOW y'all combined LC with WW (core or flex). I just signed up with core to lose those last few stubborn pounds. Tracking calories is too hard on my own LOL! How did you go about using the FF stuff since they have a higher carb count (gotta add sugar to make it taste decent LOL!)? I've been losing like crazy on full fat stuff until just recently (8 lbs. from goal), but I hesitate to go with FF stuff because of the carbs.

I'd love to hear tips!

razorbackmama- when you're that close to goal, sometimes it's just a matter of consuming less calories/fat. Have you tried cutting back on those first to see if that does the trick? I'd hate for you to start eating all those sugar carbs after you've had such success without them. Just be careful, and if you start to gain, you may want to reconsider the ff stuff.
Good luck!

Well I have been trying to find a middle ground. Not only is there a ton of sugar in the FF stuff sometimes, some of the foods are more processed (i.e., "plastic cheese" LOL). So I've been trying to do say, 2% or 1% cottage cheese vs. full fat, FF yogurt vs. full fat, skim milk vs. 2%, etc. My main problem is that I'm not sure HOW to simply cut back on fat/calories, which is why I am interested in WW. *Not* their flex plan though - I'm not crazy about the "eat what you want" method.

I went ahead and signed up with WW Core, and I'm tracking my points there and my carbs/protein at Fitday to make sure that they all line up. It's a bit more work, but you're right, I don't want to screw things up with the extra sugar that's allowed on WW. Yet their points will help me make sure my calories/fat stay under control without me actually having to count and figure it all out myself. I get 35 points a week to use, and I've been adding in 6 points a day in activity points for nursing, and I plan to use those on my lower-carb, higher-protein, higher-fat foods.

I just joined WW and am interested in this option! I'm nursing...so, I need to keep the carbs higher... So far, I'm doing the points/flex.

I'd switch to the Core plan. It's way easier to low carb with Core than with Flex. You will probably also have to add in a lot of nursing points. I lost way too much too fast (3.5 lbs. in 4 days, and that was AFTER I'd lost 20.5 lbs., so it wasn't like I was jumpstarting my weight loss) because my calories/carbs were too low while nursing. I added 6 points in per day since my baby is almost 2, but I probably should have done 10. Also I probably should have upped my carb intake as well and just done straight Core rather than combining, or at least just watching to make sure I didn't eat potatoes, etc. too often.
