Kimmer, or anyone else that reached goal with M/E
After "playing" around for 7 years trying to reach my goal weight (once getting oh so close) I started the M/E fast today. I want to stay on it possibly until I reach goal, but then it hit me. Once I do reach goal how do you start incorporating things back in without gaining weight?
This is also a question for those that do the M/E for 3 or so days then go back to say induction levels, do you re-gain some weight? I'm so determined to finally get to goal that I'm starting to freak out already about gaining once I am NOT doing the M/E thing every day.

i'm not at goal yet but i have done the M/E several times and when i do the M/E...I do it only for the 3 days it's intended for and then transition right into kimkins or atkins induction. i've never regained what i've lost when i've done that...staying in ketosis was the key to not regain.

I only did M/E for 3 days to get rid of hunger then went to Atkins 1972 version which allows up to 2 cups of salad veggies + .5 cup "cooked" veggies.
You won't regain the weight if you keep your carbs low. People who lose 3+ pounds in the first few days should review their carb choices because they were "over". I think M/E is a blessing for quick ketosis, although if someone is "over" on carbs, it may take up to 5 days (to get rid of the glycogen). |

Thanks for the quick replies, it really helps.
And yep, I've been way over on carbs for a while now. I plugged in a "sample" day (fitday.com) of eating badly and the carbs were about 500 for one such day, I've been eating that way for well over 8 months now so I better stick with the M/E for 5 days then go on to Kimkins, thanks again you two. |

glad to help however i can!
if you want some ongoing support for M/E, there's a thread in the ML about M/E by Tylar Connar that has people currently doing M/E this week and for Kimkins, there's a Camp Kimkins thread in the Low Carb Challenges Forum! Good Luck ![]() Last edited by IM2cute : 04-03-2006 at 06:40 PM. |

Thanks, I just joined the M/E thread on the challenge board. I use to post on the playground alot, now that I'm working from home I have to share the computer with DH and I'm not on the boards as much as I use to be, so now I haven't been on the playground in a while due to the fact I have to use my limited computer time focusing on my weight loss.
I'll probably pop in to the thread on the Main Lobby some. Can't wait to have my first weigh in tomorrow morning. I'm one of those that must weigh daily to keep myself accountable. Also am going to get DH to measure me tonight. I don't even want to see my previous measurements from when I was nearly at goal and doing Body For Life....I'd probably cry. |

i do "my own thing" which of late has been some experimenting with how my body responds to certain carbohydrates based on their GI/GL values. right now, with these low GI/GL carbs in mind, i'm trying out my own carb cycling plan on which the lower carb days ARE kimkin days...but since I don't do it all the time, I don't feel comfortable listing it as my WOE. As for M/E, that is something i do every once in a great while, when I feel in need of quick ketosis. (last time i did it was 2 weeks ago) Having said all that...I do all this for a lot of personal reasons regarding how "I" choose to develop a WOE into a WOL. There's nothing wrong with Kimkins as an ongoing fast weight loss WOE and I can see why it's great for so many people whose main priority is fast weight loss! ![]()
