So, is the Zone diet still around ? Anyone here do this ?

I was watching the best top ten of the Diet doctor on Fit Tv and she was talking about this diet. My doc gave me a book a long time ago when I was diagnosed with PCOS to do this, but I felt I had to measure and compute everything and I dont have a lifestyle that will allow that kind of in depth tracking. The show said it was a sound and balanced woe if you could find a way to stay on it. Lets hear your thoughts about it

there are zoners who've stuck with it for years. the computations are a pain at first but like any other plan, you ultimately know what's in your food without having to figure anything. BS antiinflammation diet is his latest thing. the carbs are pretty much just fruits and vegies, (lots). seems pretty good but most of us already do that.

Good book with whole foods...

There is a great cookbook and general cooking, organizing book by Rachel Matesz. It is called "The Garden of Eating." Her recipes are awesome and in approximate zone percentages. They are more paleo-style eating (meats, veggies, nuts, and fruits). I highly recommend this book, especially for cooking, planning, organizing and nutritional info.

She has also written some newer cookbooks for Barry Sears, the author of the Zone.

I tried the Zone for several months, and although I lost a bit on it (around 10 lbs, I remember), I found myself cheating too often. I think it was due to the higher carbs. Then I found Protein Power, and that was that. The Zone might be a good way to eat when in maintenance, but FOR ME, it didn't work for weight loss.

Edited to say the calculation become second nature after a while, so the diet isn't really very difficult to follow after the first few weeks.
