Fat Flush

Does anyone know anything about this plan or have the plan?
A guy at work said his brother in law lost 40 lbs in 2 weeks. He said to get the book but i'd rather not add another diet book to my collection.

Here is what I found without buying the book:
HOW IT WORKS
The Fat Flush Plan has a rather basic and clear-cut mission: to increase metabolism, flush out bloat and speed up fat loss. At the core of the plan is the commitment to promote a balanced lifestyle and champion simple healthy habits that we all overlook or forget about as a result of life in our hectic twenty-first century. Every aspect of each phase of the plan is targeted like a guided missle to accomplish this goal: helpful essential fats [e.g., flaxseed oil, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA)], amounts of protein (8 ounces or more per day plus two eggs), antioxidant-rich vegetables, moderate amounts of fruits, calorie-burning herbs and spices (e.g., apple cider vinegar, mustard, cayenne, ginger and cinnamon), cleansing diuretic beverages, exercise, journaling and even sleep.

Phase 1: The Two-Week Fat Flush
This kickoff phase, which is based on an average of 1100 to 1200 calories daily, is designed to jumpstart weight loss for dramatic results. This two-week phase will transform your shape by accelerating fat loss from your body's favorite fat storage areas -- your hips, thighs and buttocks. Some individuals report up a loss of up to 12 inches during this first phase of the diet, whereas they may lose only 5 pounds. This means that they are losing fat and bloat, not muscle (as with so many other diet programs). Remember, muscle weighs more than fat, so dropping a couple of dress sizes can be more significant than losing 10 pounds on the scale.

Phase 2: The Ongoing Fat Flush
Phase 2, the Ongoing Fat Flush, is the next step for those individuals who have additional weight to lose but who also want to pursue a more moderate cleansing program and enjoy a bit more variety in food choices while still losing weight. This Phase 2 porgram is designed for ongoing weight loss, with 1200 to 1500 calories each day, and is designed to be followed until you reach your desired weight or size.

Phase 3: The Lifestyle Eating Plan
Phase 3, the Lifestyle Eating Plan, is really the Fat Flush maintenance program for lifetime weight control. This phase offers over 1500 calories daily, providing a basic lifelong eating program designed to increase your vitality and well-being for life. At this time, you will be using Phase 2 as your foundational program, with its one or two friendly carb choices. You can now add up to two dairy products as well as two more friendly carbs, making the grand total up to four friendly carbs -- weight permitting. Phase 3 friendly carbs include more choices from a variety of starchier veggies and nongluten hypoallergenic grains. As in Phase 2, you will add these latest foods one at a time to make sure that you are tolerating the new additions without any allergic symptoms.

Hey,
I just did some research on it - had never heard of it before.
Here's some info. I found online, but I would get the book too.
Let know what you decide.

The Fat Flush Plan

Plan's name: The Fat Flush Plan
Book(s): The book titled 'The Fat Flush Plan' by Anne Louise Gittleman was published in 2002 but the first fat flush eating plan made its debut in her book 'Beyond Pritkin released in 1988.

About the author: Anne Louise Gittleman. Anyone who does know the health scene at all over the past two decades knows that Ann Louise is one of the most respected, dynamic, and accomplished "celebrity" nutritionists America has ever produced. As a writer, consultant, talk show host and spokesperson, Ann Louise has imprinted her distinctive message on everything she does.

Basic Philosophy: Emphasis is not given solely to controlling insulin production but to "Five Hidden Weight Gain Factors" being

Liver toxicity
Waterlogged tissues
Fear of eating fat
Excess insulin
Stress fat
By the numbers: The ratios resemble the the Zone's 40/30/30, and the Dr. Sears has written a forward for the Fat Flush Plan

Method: The plan has three set guidelines
Phase 1: The two week Fat Flush
Phase 2: Ongoing fat Flush
Phase 3: The lifestyle eating plan

Phase 1 is the 'toughest' stage of the program and has been labled 'bootcamp'. It is first and foremost a cleansing program to facilitate weight loss by giving the liver support and nourishment.

Phase 2 is designed for ongoing weight loss with a bit more variety in food choices adding back a 'friendly' carb each week to check for adverse reaction to it.

Phase 3 is really the fat flush maintance program providing a lifelong eating program aimed at increasing your vitality and well-being for life. Now 2 dairy products can be reintroduced and a variety of starchier veggies and nongluten grains. Once again new foods are added back one at a time to gauge your bodies reaction. Once on this stage of the program you will likely find your daily percentages work out at the ratio 40:30:30

The FFP is made up of whole natural foods eaten without salt.
Cut out are trans fats, caffine, diet sodas, alcohol, aspartame, sugar, yeast relalted vinegars (except apple cider vinegar), all grains and cereals, starchy vegetables, in the first phases dairy products (except whey) are also cut.

Flaxseed oil (2 tlbs) and essential fatty acid supplement are to be taken daily.
1 cup of unsweetened Cranberry juice is to be watered down to make up 64 oz and taken throughout the day.
First thing upon waking and last thing at night you have a teaspoon of psyllium husks in a glass of the 'cran-water' dubbed the 'Long life cocktail'.
Lemon juice in morning in hot water.
Lean Protein up to 8oz a day.
Eggs up to 2 a day.
Vegetables unlimited from a choice of non starchy low GI selection.
Fruit up to 2 a day from the low GI and carb, eg; 1/2 grapefruit or 1 c berries equals one choice.

Typical menu:

A Day on Phase 1: The 2-Week Fat Flush Plan

Try this sample menu:

On arising:
Long Life Cocktail

Before breakfast:
8 ounces hot water with lemon juice

Breakfast:
Veggie scramble: 2 scrambled eggs with spinach, green peppers, scallions and parsley, and one 8-ounce glass of cran-water

Midmorning snack:
1/2 large grapefruit

20 minutes before lunch:
One 8-ounce glass of cran-water

Lunch:
4 ounces of salmon with lemon and garlic, warm asparagus, mixed-green salad with broccoli florets and cucumber, 1 tablespoon flaxseed oil, and one 8-ounce glass of cran-water

Midafternoon:
Two 8-ounce glasses of cran-water

4pm snack:
1 apple

20 minutes before dinner:
One 8-ounce glass cran-water

Dinner:
4 ounces of grilled lamb chop with a pinch of cinnamon and a dash of dried mustard, sautéed kale in broth, baked summer squash with a touch of cloves, and 1 tablespoon flaxseed oil

Midevening:
Long Life Cocktail

How to Use This Menu:
You can use this example as a basic menu guide. Just substitute foods from the same food groups for daily variety. Besides the daily diet, take GLA supplements, and a balanced multivitamin/mineral. You can change the fluid intake to suit your schedule if that is more convenient, of course.

Unique Fatures: No herbs or spices except for those fat flushing herbs and spices outlined in The Fat Flush Plan
No margarine
No alcohol
No sugar
No oils or fats except those in the flaxseed oil
No grains, bread, cereal or starchy vegetables such as beans, potatoes, corn, parsnips, carrots, peas, pumpkin, or acorn or butternut squash
No dairy products

I read this thread this morning and I had never heard of this book before today. I looked it up on the internet and I ran out and bought the book. Truthfully it looks pretty easy and very good for you. It is all about detoxing your body and getting things working properly so that your body will burn fat and keep you fit the way it is supposed too. You get to eat small amounts of fruit (which I am excited about) and later in the next phase you can add a small potato and things like that. It is basically a low carb, zone type diet. I am always been into a diet that will let me lose weight and detox my body since this modern world is so full of harmful things we take in every day and I don't only want to be fit I want to be healthy too! So I study natural medicine all the time (my mother's side is full of nutritionists and so it's in my blood! lol) and was very impressed by this book and the principals in it. Looks like most people lost about 2-5 lbs a week but more importantly lost inches. (Don't know if I can believe that guy lost 40lbs in 2 weeks which more importantly is not healthy at all) We have tons of toxins in our body that makes us a bigger size but isn't necessarily fat and this diet focuses on getting rid of that bulk of toxins and fat. I am going to try it tomorrow. I am quite excited actually.
Hugs,
Audra

A few of the Biggest Loser show guys did -- but they weighed in excess of 350 pounds and were exercising an awful lot.

I wish you luck with the Fat Flush.

I will let you guys know how it works. My mother is going to try it too, she is super skinny but has some health problems and wants to detox her body. I would go look it up at the library or at least read through it at the book store shulamite cause I think you would find it as interesting as I did.

I've heard really good things about this plan.
Particularly cool sounding is that, even with dramatic weight loss, one's skin stays taut and doesn't get saggy.

My husband and I followed this restrictive diet for 8 days and lost wonderfully and felt fantastic. It is restrictive but if you can do the planning, preparing etc and stick to it then I say Go For It! It's a really healthy and great diet.

I just put it on hold at my library so that I can read it over and see what I think. Restrictive doesn't really bother me, but I'm on a limited grocery budget and don't have alot of extra for things that no one else in the house will eat.... does it seem like it would be that way?

I have the book and did try it, it's very hard to stick to. This diet was on FitTV lastnight the Fit TV doctor didn't like it. When she interviewed the Doctor that wrote the book, The doctor she said that the cran juice thingy was just in theory because of what her patients said works. She said that there wasn't any studies to prove that it helps with weight loss. The Fit Tv doc didn't have her patient do that part of the diet. If any of you get Fit TV I think it will be on any this week.

The diluted real cranberry juice (cranwater) sweetened with stevia was one of my favorite parts of the diet. It seemed to reduce cravings and is so refreshing. I loved it. It is pricey though. A 32 oz bottle of the juice is about $8 and lasts 4 days. I also drank coffee and did not do the morning lemon water. I added my psyllium husks to my (2) protein shakes per day.
Anyone wanting to try this? I would like to do it again. I remember reading this in one of Ann Louise Gittlemans books "beyond Pritikin" about 10 years ago and it seemed very complicated.....but it really isn't. Actually its quite simple.

ETA....those of you who are now following Atkins may find this diet much easier and satisfying, plus you'll see quick results.

zay - I would love to try this diet, but I don't have the book yet. Maybe it will come today. I need to see quick results because my motivation is lacking AND I don't really have that much to loose. I think I can use the sample menu and start this weekend. Maybe this "flush" will make me feel better. I've really been dragging lately.

Maybe if we get enough people to try it with us we can start a challenge.

Have a great Friday!!!!!

the cranwater was my favorite part of this plan, and i don't sweeten it. love the tartness. i also have had lemon water in the morning for the past 20+ years. i don't think either of them increases weight loss per se but they have a cleansing/balancing effect which can help to increase weight loss. tj's has pure cranberry juice for 3.99. my local grocery outlet gets it in sometimes and it's 99 cents. i don't use it as much anymore but am a lifer when it comes to lemon/lime in my morning water. i don't warm it, though. if i miss having it for some reason, i really feel the difference.
