Pastured, organic eggs

The lady down the road from me has had a few laying hens for years. I can see her rather sizable garden on my way in and out of our little cul de sac with the hens pecking around free. Recently I noticed a chicken yard pop up and it kept getting bigger. They bought one of those electric chicken fences and it expanded out over the garden and a big chunk of open field.

A couple of days ago they put an old writing desk out by the road with a self-service "for sale" sign. I bought a dozen yesterday and we are having them for breakfast in a bit. There are white, brown, speckled and one is almost green.

I'll update later.:)

Cool! How much is she charging? I am paying $5-$6 a dozen for pastured eggs, depending on where I buy them.

They were yummy as fried eggs. Big, golden firm yolks and even the whites had flavor. :yummy:

She charges $4/dzn. I paid $5 yesterday because the husband didn't have change, but I'll pay $3 next time (they are our neighbors).

I typically pay from $2.50 - $4.00 per dozen.
The higher prices are in my coop, but I know the sources so I am happy to pay that much for the convenience.
