Kirk's Castile Soap

I recently bought a couple of bars of this soap, mainly because I found I was allergic to almost all regular commercial brand, including Dove and Ivory. So, I picked it up in the laundry aisle of the grocery store.

I can't believe how it gets things clean. I use it for pots and pans because they're all stainless steel and I want to keep the seasonings on them. It's almost like rinsing them with a scrub sponge thing-y.

And, since the contractors will be here tomorrow and I don't want them to see a dirty bathroom, I used a cleaner that I got at Trader Joe's; something with cedar oil, or sage, or something. I mainly use it in the kitchen since it's non toxic. Well, I sprayed it on and waited and then...nothing. Not with makeup and other oils. I even had a scrubber thing-y.

Then I used the Kirk's because it was there. And it was fabulous. It even cleaned the faucets and handles and rinsed away clean.

Oh, and I used it on lingerie and it worked great.

I don't think I'll try it as a shampoo, though.

I am a soap maker and you think castile will do wonders for laundry try it on your skin. Get rid of the chemicals, even dove has tons of chemicals. Find a local soap maker or make your own, it is easier than you think and tons of fun, you will never use store soap again.

That's good to know. I'll try it. I have all kinds of the Dr. Bonner soaps, and they say you can brush your teeth with it. I'll try the Kirk's. (Not on my teeth).

I'm a huge fan of castile soap, and have also been using Aleppo soap, which is fantastic for my skin! I also use it to wash my hair sometimes, when I'm in a bind and don't have time to use the baking soda ritual.

For cleaning most things I use simple white vinegar. Gets rid of stains and smells and all the nasty deposits from the hard water. It's miracle stuff!
