SCOBYs
If you don't get any help with a SCOBY, you can grow your own pretty easily. All it takes is one bottle of store bought Kombucha. If I can do it, anybody can! For easy directions, do a google search for Food Renegade. When it brings up her website, you'll find the link to grow a SCOBY on the home page. I grew mine in just under 2 weeks. The key to remember is, don't try to grow the SCOBY and make the Kombucha at the same time. I did that the first time and it was a dismal failure. Start with a small amount of tea. Even though the initial SCOBY will be smaller, you will grow a bigger one if your first batch of Kombucha is in a bigger jar. (I use a 1 gallon jar) Just take the smaller SCOBY and a little of the tea and put it into the larger batch of Kombucha. Your new batch and new SCOBY should be ready in about 10-14 days, depending upon your taste. Food Renegade has directions for making the actual Kombucha on her home page also. I posted about my experiences on my blog (being conformed dot wordpress dot come) under "Kombucha SCOBY?" and "Kombucha Success". I love the homemade taste so much better than the store bought! Good luck!

I just checked GTs site and they're still off the market. You'll need to start with a SCOBY from a friend. |

The reformulated ones are being stocked. Our local health food store is carrying Vibranz. Guess it depends on where you live. GT's is a little slow in coming back.
