so very pleased eating out yesterday

I went to visit a friend yesterday and we were all going to lunch (quite nervously I must add as this is a one horse town) when he met DH and I, he immediately pulled up to a deli just for us that read "Local & Organic" I was so very pleased but that's not all.......I walked over to the beverage prep area to grab some napkins and to my surprise.....NU NATURALS STEVIA!

It was the perfect day!

Awesome.

What I find ironic:100 years ago, most restaurants were probably "Local and Organic" to save costs; now its the opposite. It scares me how greatly we have tainted our food supply in such a short time (depleted soils, farmed fish, grain fed protein sources, hormones, antibiotics).

I agree. I find it all very scary.

What did Michael Pollan say in Food Inc.? Our bodies have not evolved as the food supply has? Something similar......in other words, we have not evolved to eat what they're feeding us.

Hence increased cases of health conditions and disease.
The relation is so obvious and yet so ignored.

WOE: ATKINS! now and always....
Start Date: 5/03
We just had a new place open up here a couple months back - she single-sources her beef from a free-range grower, no antibiotics or hormones; and on Friday nights she does grass-fed prime rib which they prepare in their Traeger smoker. They also prepare almost everything there from scratch, including the most delicious pickles I've ever eaten, and they get their produce all from organic sources as much as possible. Gotta love it!

No NuStevia though, but I always have packets in my purse. Maybe I'll enlighten the owner when we get to know her just a little better!

I think that place sounds great.
How are the prices? I imagine she would have to charge more due to her costly ingredients; I certainly consider it worth it though.

Believe it or not, incredibly reasonable! One of my faves, beef shortribs, is only $14.99 and the 10 to 12 oz. prime rib is $19.99. Not bad at all!
