How much silver do you use? My bottle says to take 1 tsp up to 3 times daily how many times do you take it? How would you know?

It can happen as a result of any type of respiratory infection, not just influenza.

I read that the cytokine storm can be prevented by taking Zinc.

That's a great article SarahAnne, I get Mercola's emails and he's getting some great info out.

Glad I can help.. The disclaimer really does make you take a step back and think. While I don't agree with all of the things he states, I find it discouraging that the FDA can just shut somebody down for trying to spread awareness of important issues.

Janette, I've been researching Cytokine storm recently and from what I understand, immune boosters like zinc are very good....as well, our beloved cod liver oil.

You know, I'm considering not getting a flu shot this year too. The last three years I've had one, and frankly each time I got the flu. The first months after my daughter was born we were BOTH sick from the flu. I was sick at least twice. She had two shots as well. We haven't been sick once since. But we eat healthy and she gets PLENTY of rest everyday.

I also am a rather large germ phob, (in some peoples eyes) and tend to wash my hands constantly. I can't live in a dirty home either. When we have company and they've been sick, I lysol the entire house again!

And no, I'm not going to go to walmart and just lick my hands either! EWWW! Just to build imunities! GROSS! HAHA!

I've never gotten a flu shot, and I have a family history of immune problems. I worry more about my sister, getting shot up with other people's gamma globlulin (and God knows what else!), taking things like Levaquin, etc. She's already had surgery due to tendon rupture from Levaquin.

My HUSBAND almost died last year from a bad reaction to Bactrim, a "safe" antibiotic.

I had a bout with a sore throat about a month ago, it was very achy one night, I drank some Chinese herbal tea and took my olive leaf. The next morning I felt fine. I believe my body encountered the flu naturally and fought it off. It's already rampant here in Houston - we are an international city with a porous border.

I used to get sick a LOT as a kid, eating the "normal American diet" - breakfast cereals and all. Now that I have cut many foods out of my diet (due to intolerances), I'm far healthier than I've ever been in my whole life.

I would much rather take my chances with the flu than manmade vaccines. I'm even reluctant to take antibiotics - the last time I did I had been bitten by a stray cat and HAD to do so.

No not getting either one. Have gotten the regular flu shot in the past and have gotten sick worse than any other flu ever imaginable. I just don't think it is worth it to me and my health. Besides that, I have already been exposed to the germs and probably had a mild version of the h1n1 already.

I just found out that if 49 or over don't need H1N1 anyways because you are probably immune due to swine flu outbreaks in the 60's and 70's.

When I take colloidal silver I take about tsp/day, but be sure to take Zinc w/ it to avoid the cytokine storm thing.

I read in my pill book that (my) lithium is used to boost the immune system.

You know Heather, I've read that too actually!

Colloidal silver is safest if used at the onset of a cold/flu, misted in the nose for the first indication of a cold and 1tsp. up to 4x daily for a period of 2 weeks.

If one is using colloidal silver, one should also supplement with probiotics, as it can throw off your flora. Good advice on the zinc J but also know that the CS has been over hyped by Mercola. For men though, I wouldn't take much more than 25mg a day.....especially if there's a prostate issue. It can be contraindicated.

The bottom line with the flu vaccines, it makes a boat load of money for pharma and just like statins, carries very little benefit if any.

We're such a sick society though they have get us with fear. Flu shots are no replacement for Cod Liver Oil!!! Spock was responsible for this in the 50's.

Fawn, it's interesting because my sister and one of her children have immune deficiency. My "sensitive" husband used to call me "sickly". Now, in addition to better mental health, my physical health is fantastic.

I feel even better since stopping the antidepressant, now I am only taking the lithium and a much-needed antipsychotic (delusions and all otherwise).

Is this the the regular flu shot or the H1N1 only?
My doctor is adamant about me getting at least the regular flu shot.

If you're going to get the seasonal flu shot, please be sure to get a thimerosal free one.

Magic words to avoid Mercury: SINGLE DOSE.

Do not take it from a multi-dose vial if you have concerns about preservatives. Ask, make them show you, a single dose vial. Those are "better" than the multi.

I wouldn't get the flu shot ever......

I just listened to a podcast this a.m. and one of the items addressed was pregnancy and flu shots. Dr.'s try to encourage it becuase it is said that a mother's immune system is in a down regulated state.....it doesn't mean it's completely turned off...just down regulated. newstart, I had a friend who had a high risk pregnancy 2 years ago. She had gastric bypass then got pregnant, had a complication of the surgery (they left a small piece of gauze in her intestines and during the pregnancy they found it, had to do another surgery while she was pregnant) she was just a mess......to top it off, she didn't eat as I would have liked during this trauma and otherwise.....she refused the flu shot and all went well. With the flu anyway.....she actually had a c-section, this opened up.....long story but anywhoo......

My thoughts quite honestly are this: If you're not going to eat well and supplement in the good old fashioned way of immune support? Then get the shot.........otherwise, I'd choose immune boosting ways of keeping myself well.

You know, if I were to have my children with what I know now, I'm not sure I'd immunize at all.....I most certainly would at least choose the delayed method.

I just read an article somewhere that stated that the studies done on the correlation between immunizations and autism were funded and conducted by pharma.

This is just an honest question, I want to learn. What will the flu shot do to you? Two of my children were hospitalized with the flu, it was very scary for us. My youngest is disabled and has a compromised immune system I want her to have the best care possible. She as well as I have gotten flu shots the past 13 years. What problems can I expect?

Oh Ileen, it's so frustrating. Yes, I can share and you're going to love this guy

Byron Richards of Wellness Resources. I can't link because he sells his own supps. but this is jack pot information as far as i'm concerned. I have listened to hours and hours of this guy.....

I feel so much better since beginning D drops.....in conjunction with the cod liver oil, I look forward to seeing how I do with this season.

Here are a couple of videos Janette (LJH) turned me on to this morning on FB

Every time I get a flu shot, I end up sick for most of the winter.

I took my teenagers to a new doctor this year for their checkups and they casually gave them the flu "sniff" (nasal) without really discussing it with me. They've been sick more than usual, so never again.

I believe they've already had swine flu, I know they were exposed. They were sick for a few days, tired for a few more, now it's over. I didn't catch it for some reason.

I've been skeptical but allowing of standard vaccines for killer diseases, I think they're life savers and have done a great deal of good for public health in general, but this concept of constant immunization seems a bit ridiculous to me.
