It's A Little Pricey But I'm Eating All Organic This Week

Decided my health is worth it!!

I made a menu out for this week, headed out to Kroger and Publix and I'm really psyched about it!!

It helped that my regular produce section avocado turned brown rather quickly and my organic one looked so much better!

Good for you!

I feel the same way. I was eating some things organic most of last year but a few months ago when I made sure everything was organic/natural is when I noticed a big difference in how I feel. The last thing I changed was meat & poultry.

That's awesome Deb!

I'm hoping I feel a difference also. It was pretty cool shopping for the groceries in the organic section. I was confined to one area instead of being all over the store. lol(saves time also)

I've been slowly trying to go more organic and real whole foods but the prices are scary! I have finally just taken the plunge and realize that when we eat foods that are so much more nutritious, then our bodies will crave less and will be healthier. So, really we end up eating less and saving money on health issues. Plus, I save on not buying the extra plastic foods. The produce just tastes so much better too!

You can cut your costs by finding a local organic farmers market or by joining a CSA here's a link that may help + you can buy some items directly

Local Harvest / Farmers Markets / Family Farms / CSA / Organic Food

This is an awesome link! I found two places within 10 minutes of my house.

Thanks a bunch!

I am on my way to purely organic and 100% natural..............

I ordered Buffalo (never tried it before and should be ready in about 6 weeks). I am also getting a side of grass fed beef and a side of pork and 12 chickens from a local farmer...........

In all of that I will have 4 fryers and 8 roasting hens, uncured bacon, ribs, roasts and steaks (pork, beef, and buffalo), organ meats from all animals....

I will have meat in my freezer for the next year.

I shop the farmers markets for veggies and fruit and will only buy what is local and in season............ (minor exception of grapefruit, lemons, oranges, bananas, pineapple - I will never be able to buy them local or organic due to living in the Midwest, LOL)

I have frozen lots of green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, onions, etc................

We get eggs from one of several local farmers and we have also started eating duck eggs. Very rich and yummy!!!

You will like buffalo. I have had the best luck with ground, stew and roasts. I too have a 1/4 of a grass fed organic local cow but would love a source for organic pastured chicken "parts". You know, breasts, thighs, ect because when I cook sometimes I want 4 or 5 breasts or a bunch of thighs. I gues i could just cut up and package my own. Oh, and I haven't had duck eggs since I was little. That sounds good!

I really do try to...but unfortunately when you're on a limited budget, organic and grass-fed gets expensive.

We are planning on buying 1/4 grass fed cow come next year when we get our tax check back - I'm looking forward to that! It's really hard to 'allow' myself to buy commercially made meat and vegees when I have educated myself on what really goes on with all that stuff! But - again - when you're on a limited budget, you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm gonna start slow and work my way up to 100% organic.
Today I'm digging up the dirtpatches on either side of our yard and starting a herb/veg garden!

Hope I've got a green thumb, eh?
