Anything that is homemade. Most have soybean oil, and canola oil which is pretty nasty stuff. Try Googling them. :/

I can't recommend any store brands I've seen in stores. They all contain not so good ingredients/oils. Some advertise that they contain olive oil but they are mostly other oils that I don't want to consume.
I am out of mayo and won't have any again until I get motivated enough to make my own. It's easy to make but finding the right ingredients to taste the way I want is a challenge so I'm procrastinating. ![]() |

TY, I looked all over the net for their ingredients. It has soy, even being organic, it messes with my estrogen/body/etc. Dang.

I have not tried any other types of oil. I've heard that pure olive oil mayo tastes nasty, coconut oil solidifies, and I try to stay away from all other veggie oils.
Sorry! |

I did see a Safflower Oil Mayo the other day at the HFS. I am using Trader Joes at present, would love to find one without soybean oil also. Do you think the oil affects hormones like the actual soy products do? I have not done any research on the matter. But I do pick organic oils whenever possible. I love mayo and do not think I would like an olive oil one....

I have some lemon infused EVOO & I keep thinking it would make some good mayo but it was pricey & I've only been using it for my salad dressing. |

I'm going to try rice bran oil today for making mayo (per Fawn's suggestion). I love rice bran oil for cooking, and most things I use mayo in I also usually end up cooking. I'll report back on the texture/taste.

LMAO! I just ordered rice bran oil off of Amazon for a great deal. They sell half-gallons on there. I bet since it's fall, we must be on the same mayo-craving bandwagon. ![]() |

Yeah, but 1/2 gallon is like 128 oz, and it pays to buy in bulk. So, even $20.00 shipped is pretty darn good. ![]() |

I found some organic Rice Bran oil at MOMS organic market today. I will report back with pics if I like the stuff. I was busy making sour kraut and cabbage rejuvalac, hummus, quinoa tabbouleh and chicken or I'd have done it tonight. I will be making pesto tomorrow so this will fit in nicely. Just to reiterate: Coconut oil was good but way to heavy. It was a hard mess in the fridge the next day. Caused die off symptoms in me bigtime. WAY too much VCO at once. EVOO was a disaster. Nasty. |

I made rice bran oil mayo yesterday and it turned out great (I also bought mine from Amazon, LOL!)! I really like rice bran oil, I think it's really light and doesn't impart a strong flavor. I had tuna salad and it was great! Store bought can't compare with homemade IMO.

I put 1 whole egg and one yolk in a pint-sized jar and let come to room temperature. then add 1 TB lemon juice, 1 TB whey (I grab this off the top of yogurt), 1 tsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp dry mustard, pinch of sea salt. In a glass measuring cup, I mix 1/2 cup expeller-pressed coconut oil (melted) and 1/2 cup virgin olive oil. Then put a stick blender in the jar, pulse for about 10 seconds, and start dripping the oil dropwise until about a quarter cup has been emulsified. Then pour in a stream until it's all emulsified. Cover and leave overnight, then refrigerate.

I have made mayo with a mixture of both EVOO and coconut oil and it tasted awful to me (and it got super thick in the fridge - I also used whey in that version). I have also used the oil combo Mary Enig suggests - that tasted funky too. Just plain EVOO mayo turns super bitter. I've tried multiple times with different brands (thinking the oil may have been rancid). I also tried whisking it by hand instead of in the food processor (read that could cause it to be bitter). I just don't think EVOO makes a good mayo, IMO. I tried just straight coconut oil, again, tasted funky (but I used virgin) and it got really hard in the fridge. The rice bran oil has produced the best mayo for me yet (other than the rancid flavorless veg oils you can buy in the grocery store) regarding flavor and spreadability - and it may be cooked with.

I agree. That is a great price. As soon as mine gets here, I'm making mayo. Sandy on the EFGT thread made ranch dressing with Hidden Valley and added 1 ripe avocado to it and made avocado ranch!! Take about good fat! I need to read the HVR packet. If it is too offensive, I'll see if WF has an alternative.
