Yes, I bought from 8 o'clock ranch - shipping in the NE is quite reasonable, but further west is more expensive. You'd have to buy a pretty significant lot. That said - I love their ground beef and ground pork, and went in with a few colleagues at work and we're ordering several hundred dollars worth to save on shipping and the cost ends up lower than the grocery store.
Where in TX are you? I would imagine there are some good sources. Have you tried craigslist - that's how I found my first order of grass-fed beef.

Since then we have found 2 or 3 more sources for grass-fed beef, pork, or free-range chickens. Up the driving time to an hour and there are at least 5 or 6 more places. There are also at least 3 vendors at the Farmer's Market (but get there early, the chickens tend to sell out within 2 hours of the market opening). |

We have several grass fed/grass finished beef places here in NC. I've never purchased from this particular place, but have driven by it and the cows are definitely out on grass. It is called Baldwin Beef, and I know they ship. I have no idea what they charge for shipping, but it might be worth looking into when you are checking around for pricing.

I can recommend 8 o'clock as well. If you live too far away and their shipping is prohibitive, give us wellness meats a look.

Just got my 2nd 25 lb shipment of grass-fed ground beef from 8 o'clock. With s&h it comes to $97.20. And not sure if they're just being nice, or they just don't count well, but both times I've ordered they've sent me 26 lbs instead of the 25 I paid for.

Does anyone know of a reliable source in California or near California that delivers?

Nice. I can't afford steaks, etc. But I do like their ground beef. I actually prefer 8 o'clock's ground beef though, since they package them flat... they stack in the freezer better.
uswellness packages them as loaves. Not so stackable. |

Hey Mark, after reading this post I took your advice and ordered from 8oclock too. Well, I ordered 23 pounds and they sent 24...so they must be in the giving spirit for all their customers. It is a great way to get people to come back again. On a side note I just ate my first pound for dinner...and WOW what a difference. I have never tasted what cow was supposed to taste like before. It is completely different from store or restaraunt bought beef. It was good and very lean. I will definately be buying from them again.

Glad to hear they treat all their customers so well.
I'll be ordering some organ meats for my doggy next week. |
