Reading List

I always see great books mentioned in different threads and a majority of the time forget to write down the titles. So how about we list books that we love on the subject of nutrition/health/low carb/medicine/etc/?

I will start =

Our Daily Meds by Melodie Petersen - this book is phenomenal. it exposes the pharmaceutical world from how the fda is bribed to approve meds, how deaths in studies are omitted, how "studies" are analyzed to show that the meds are effective even if they are less effective than the placebos, how doctors are given outrageous amounts of money to prescribe, how prices are set, and how side effects are kept out of the media and the truth hushed up. it is very recent and goes into the background of current medicines being recalled

Another good one is Good Germs, Bad germs - about the deadly consequences of the over-use of antibiotics in medicine.

What are your faves?

Good Germs, Bad Germs sounds great. I believe overuse of antibiotics is one of the biggest threats this world faces.

I can't make it through GCBC's for some reason I am stuck around pg 278 and fall asleep everytime I open the book. I do think it is an essential book, but just so dense. I may have to try reading EFGT.

Even if you don't agree with her seriously organic point of view there are lots of interesting things to think about. The Fast Track book she is majorly into avoiding anything that can poison the body in any way.

I have the majority of the books that others have already mentioned and didn't want to be redundant................

So my list is the ones mentioned by other posters already and this one mentioned below:

The Primal Blue Print is my latest read by Mark Sisson.

One that got me eating organic was Kevin Trudeau's book about natural cure "They" don't want you to know about. It really opened up my eyes to the farce that the FDA is. Now, later in the book, I think he sort of goes off the deep end re: staring at the sun during the dawn hours, etc. But it was a great start for me.

Looking forward to reading those suggested. My new favorite is The Maker's Diet by Jordan Rubin. It has really gotten me to think more about exactly what each thing I put in my mouth does for me and how 'plastic' (my word) so many 'foods' are now. I've also gotten a lot of good info from watching the show on BBC called You Are What You Eat with Gillian McKeith.
