Erica - you're so right. I've never fluctuated more than a pound or two in the past several years while losing (excluding hydration during the day). Thankfully the blood ketone measurements also provide insight.

Unfortunately, I don't think the exercise has been enough to build muscle, but I'm optimistic!

I'm looking at your tagline and it's so true! But who's going to come near our hot, skinny bodies when our urine smells like turpentine and the breath is indescribable!

They'll do it for love! Heh!

I'm joking, but for real! I smell a bit weird!

That.is.hilarious.

How are we ketoers doing this fine morning? I actually went for a walk with my daughter, grandson, and dog. The dog was so excited he wouldn't even admit when he was exhausted. I kinda felt the same way. Heh!

Chloe - wow, beautiful avatar. Come back when you can!

Scale is back to 204 - hydration is up, body fat down, leaves me with 2# by Friday, if I want to stay on schedule. *fingers crossed*
Blood ketones are 2.4

Have found a couple of almost zero carb mainstays that help keep the macros in line. 2 boiled eggs mashed with mayo and topped with hot buffalo sauce. At night, I'm enjoying a double decaf chai with 1 T. coconut oil and 1 T. HWC and a little bit of Torani syrup. If my macros are low for the day, then I up the CO or HWC.

Steady, no change:

204
1.9

Hope to see some progress after tonight's water boot camp, but again, any one day deviations are water. Fingers crossed to get to 202 by this weekend, but that might be a stretch.

Are we bad-breathing our way through our morning? I'm a dragon!

I am holding steady. I hope this minuscule drop I have going on lasts until Monday so I can, again, update my sig.

Sandra - are you obsessed with that ketone monitor thingy? Is it awesome?

Daisy, I wanna hear you ROAR!

I caught up with you:
  • 203, not sure if I can pull off 1# more by Saturday, but I'm trying
  • Blood: 2.2 - it's so reassuring to see this. Even though there is a thread "why scales lie", there isn't a thread "why your ketone meter lies". I really like it - and just consider it to be a part of daily business. I just ordered 50 more of them to the tune of $99 plus $7 shipping, so that will hold me over for acouple of months. Yes, it's pricey, but it's a good way to stay in check. And, at this point, it's worth about $50-60 a month to have that daily validation.

Had a good round of aqua boot camp - I had to ask the gal a couple of questions, and rather than point, I just mentioned pecs and delts. OK, I know I'm fat and out of shape, but really....i do know my major muscle groups.

I think I'll try today to get in some weights - I've been babying a pulled quad muscle, but I think I'm ready to start again. Funny thing, I'm still not ready to walk down the stairs with the other leg leading on way down. It feels fine, but last thing I want is to pull that muscle again.

Thanks, Erica - it's literally like fire - I've had muscle spasms, back, shoulder, but this was a doozie. I had trouble even walking down an inclined driveway last weekend.

Good morning.

203 - holding steady, -1 for the week. Hope I can get back to 2# per week, but that will require a 1000 calorie a day deficit (assuming 1000 X 7 days which is pretty aggressive)
2.3 - has been consistent all week

Yesterday's effort at the gym was good, although now what feels like a pinched nerve in my back. Approaching old age isn't fun. I can feel some muscle tightness in abs and arms, so I know I made progress.I'm curious to know how it reflects on the body fat scales. I know hydration is a big factor, but I'm curious about muscle water retention and it's impact on body fat scales.

Daisy - For me, weekday or weekend, pretty much the same since I'm not eating out. I have my bulletproof coffee, vitamins and diatomaceous earth for breakfast, then some type of casserole (like cauliflower with cheese and ham) and then dinner is usually salad or avocado and my nightly tea with CO and HWC.

Now if I had more of a social life, that might be different!

Today I'm prepping crock pot buffalo chicken for the weekend. Quite an irony that with NK, I cook MORE than I did otherwise. Hope to go swimming with my swimming friend - and maybe some good sauna time.

Wishing a happy Friday for everyone!

More than you ever wanted to know.... but basically, fed to livestock and chickens for parasites and useful in house and garden to kill insect exoskeletons. How sexy is that?

Silica supplementation (diatomaceous earth)

I read this entire thread one afternoon and started the next day. I was at the hairdresser last night but she can't tell a difference yet other than maybe there is more growth at the scalp. We're going to re-evaluate next visit.

I started it just prior to NK, but here are some observations:

Bathroom regularity to within 15 minutes
Fresher skin
Better urinary control, just something that has plagued me since Lindsey

Not sure, but I think nails might be growing faster and I hope the hair will grow fuller. This just seems to me to be one of those - "can't hurt, might help, cheap, easy, no calories". I bought a bag from a large online retailer - big bag for $20 free shipping. I have enough for my garden and my gut.

See, my sister in quackiness??? If even half is true, and no risks, why not try it? Also makes for an interesting conversation topic when you tell people that your breakfast contains tiny shards of sharp silicon type material used to destroy the exoskeletons of pests and clean pool filters.

OK, now for my medicare news.

Mr. Tanita reluctantly gave me 203.0 (but the body fat was up 5%, which doesn't make sense unless regular fluid which should be in my legs for the body fat measurement is in my back)
Blood was down: 1.1 - I stayed fully in limits so I'm not sure why this happened.

As an aside, now have a pinched nerve or muscle spasm under my right shoulder blade from the gym which is excruciating. The only thing I can think of is that somehow this injury could be causing the decrease in the blood levels. Makes no sense, but there are NO other variables. I'll continue to read and hope to better understand.

Casey - welcome aboard. There's quite a few of us new folks who like this geeky plan and your stats seem pretty similar. There's also quite a few folks who have a lot of experience and are willing to share and help guide.

Thanks. I need to know that. This is the most comfortable WOE I have ever experienced, and I admit it took me a long time to make it ok to eat so much fat, let alone saturated fat. I managed to jump that hurdle, and now I'm learning ways to manage my macronutrients.

For instance, aside from avoiding the fats, I also ate an abundance of vegetables. They are so often referred to as the "unlimited" food. Well, that added huge numbers to my carbs, even net carb counts.

Which brings me to a question about net carbs and macronutrients. How do I figure the percentage of carbs when I'm counting only net carbs. Unfortunately, the site (whose name may not be mentioned here) where I track my food doesn't track net carbs. Any suggestions or ideas welcome!

Yes, if I query "zucchini net" as an example, my tracker will have it in the database. Otherwise, you can create your own custom food. There are programs where you can add an extra column for "net", but I prefer to just use a "net" food.

That said, I much prefer metric now that I use a scale that I put the plate (set it to 0) and then gradually add ingredients. I'd prefer 21 grams over 1 tablespoon, so sometimes you have to look at several of the foods in the database to find one that measures by 100 g. So, in that case, 1 ounce would be .28 of a 100 gram serving.

Ah, great idea. I need to learn the metric, and I never thought to search on "net" carbs.
